One thing that makes Lander's River Cafe better than a typical diner is the view out the window: you can see where Callicoon Creek is about to flow into the Delaware, and from the angle out the back window the two bodies of water appear to be flowing in opposite directions. It's beautiful. Here's where Lander's River Mart excels: in the convenience store part of the establishment they make sandwiches. Not fancy sandwiches, but good subs. My husband entered the store to make a purchase.The angry patron and I began exchanging words but we never got close to one another since he knew I was recording. Turkey hill employee Gail then comes up to my face and begins pointing at me aggressively and barking that I am not Allowed to record her even though I am well within my rights in the law to do so. I believe she did this as not to be identified. She told me to leave even while the white male patron was still berating me. Gail never once told him to stop. In fact she asked me to leave. When my husband came out of the store because he could see how aggressive she was with me. Gail immediately backed down and began walking away. Apparently she can only be tough and throw her weight around with black women. He asked me what happened and I told my husband that she asked me to leave. He called her out on her racist behavior as we were the ones being harassed by the other patron but I guess because he was a white male she instantly saw me the black female as the problem. Gail never even bothered to ask what was going on before telling me to leave. What disgusting behavior. I would never again support this business and I urge others not to if being treated fairly regardless of race is important to you.

This is a newer model of the Cumberland Farms chain. This store was recently built after the older…read morestyle Cumberland Farms was tore down to make room for this new one. The new store is at least 3x larger than the older one. As such, it features an updated and modern design, the parking lot is larger, and there are many more gas pumps. There is an abundance of parking on the front and side of the building, with doors on both sides and entrances on both the 17K and Rock Cut Road sides of the parking lot. This is much more efficient than the old store. The inventory is wide-ranged. There are a few shelves with perishable foods and miscellaneous items, but much of the store contains fresh food -- hot or cold. There is a variety of a little bit of everything. Staff are friendly and plenty. I stopped in just before midnight on a weeknight and there were 4 employees working. Two were stocking the shelves, one was cleaning, and the other was a cashier (who was also cleaning). Staff were extremely friendly and 2 employees went out of their ways to advise me that uniformed personnel (military, law enforcement, etc.) always get coffee for free. A few customers came in and out, but the amount of staff on hand was easily able to keep up with the flow, plus there were still enough employees to get the other jobs done (stocking, cleaning, etc.). For a gas station / convenience store, this is impressive. I hope it lasts.
