UPDATE************************** I asked Dr. Nobu to contact me if he had a last minute cancellation - and he did! Yay!!! On today's visit - I'm happy to report that the room was delightfully warm thanks to not one, but two heat lamps. I didn't fall asleep this time - but I think that's because I'm just super stressed right now. I snagged a parking spot right up front near the door and my knee was THRILLED. There was soft music, coupled with a sound machine with what I think were either jungle or beach sounds (lol - I wasn't super focused) but that meant I didn't hear any loud neighboring tenants or squeaky chair wheels (lol). I forgot to mention two tips in my original review: 1) If you want to tip Dr. Nobu, either remember to bring cash - or let him know before he swipes your plastic. This is the SECOND time I've forgotten and didn't have any cash for a tip. ARGH! 2) Wear loose, easy to remove clothing. Some folks disrobe down to their underwear. During my first visit - I wore a strapless bra and a big, loose maxi dress and kept all that on during the session with no problems. Today I wore a large t-shirt and big, loose, maxi skirt with a draw string - so I didn't have to undress today either - just hiked up the shirt and skirt when necessary - I'm a never-nude (my Arrested Development fans get it - LMBO). **************************************** I wonder why searching for 'Nobu' within Yelp doesn't actually return this entry - but searching Google for 'Nobu' does . . . weird . . . On to the review: Dr. Nobu is great. Very soft-spoken but seems like a very nice gentleman. His treatment of my left knee is the ONLY thing that has given me any pain relief in the past six months - so that automatically nets him 5 stars in my books. Some cons that I will list - but still not deduct any stars for: 1) There is very limited parking - so arrive early so that you can stalk people walking to their cars and snag their parking spaces as they leave. 2) Dr. Nobu does not take insurance - though you can probably file on your own. 3) The room was a little cold and the walls are thin. I could hear everything going on around me - including the chitchat from the neighboring tenant. Again - not deducting any stars because despite the fact that I was freezing, initially, and could hear everything (chitchat nextdoor, wheels squeaking on office chair) - once Dr. Nobu worked his magic on me - I actually DOZED off on the table. And I have literally never fallen asleep anywhere other than a bedroom in my entire life! This was major for me - I don't fall asleep on long road trips. I have never fallen asleep in church (lol) or under the dryer at the salon. Not even during a massage, have I ever gotten drowsy . . . so this was a testament to Dr. Nobu's skills! 4) No extended or late evening appointments - BUT he's open Sat and Sun to accommodate folks who work 9-5, Mon - Fri. So his hours 8:30am - 4:30pm, Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat and Sun. He is closed on Mon and Fri. 5) Dr. Nobu's appointment calendar fills up quickly! Because of Dr. Nobu's amazing skills - he has legions of loyal clients. Plus - he travels quite a bit - so it can be difficult to book an appointment with him. He does not have an online scheduler, but he is very responsive - via text. When trying to schedule an appointment - plan ahead and be patient - he is definitely worth the wait! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Nobu Wago for over 1 year. I am so happy to have found Dr. Wago. He is so knowledgable and explain to me in sincere manner. His office has a comfortable setting and I always feel like my stress and any health problems are gone by the time I leave his office. The results from my treatment yesterday were incredible. Dr. Nobu is a true healer, incredibly knowledgeable and makes you so comfortable. I wish I could post pictures of what my horrid rash looked like yesterday and after Dr. Nobu worked on my immune system and performed a detox treatment it was incredibly better today with such substantial improvement I was just in awe and feel fantastic over all as well. I'm a runner and though I gave up distance running about 5 years ago, I still enjoy the occasional 10k to stay in shape and reinvigorate my competitive spirits. When I was doing half marathons and full marathons, I was going through shoes with endless abandon. I was "talked into" buying a different brand once (I won't mention any names but their unique "swoosh" should give you a hint) and I lived to regret it. I'm a "neutral" runner which means that when my foot hits the ground there is no flattening of the arch or excessive "tipping" of the ankle either in or out. If you're a runner and you either "pronate" or "supinate" (ankle turns either in or out when your foot strikes the ground), you have to buy shoes with a foot bridge to compensate. Well, the genius that talked me into changing brands (by the way, Asics Gel are the best in my humble opinion) didn't tell me that there was a footbridge in it (hidden) which screwed up my ankle. I couldn't move on Tuesday and had a big race that Saturday and a friend of mine recommended Dr. Nobu-Hiro Wago to me. Now I'm the type person that swears if you drive by Life University and roll down your window you don't have to strain to hear the "quacking" of the pseudo-doctors that study there (sorry, folks, just never been a big believer in that "practice") and I certainly didn't hold out any hope that this Asian man (that I could have squashed with one of my newly-acquired running shoes that hurt my ankles) was going to help me at all. Boy, was I wrong! Not only did "Dr. Nobu" correct my problem caused by the errant shoes, but he also corrected a minor problem that he "found" that dated back to my days in junior high school as a result of a gymnastics injury (I was quite the athlete in my younger days). I was sold not only on Dr. Nobu but also acupuncture! Dr. Nobu used to have his office in his home in Vinings but recently relocated to the commercial buildings between Smryna Market Village and Smyrna City Hall (upper level). He takes great care in assessing your problems and asks the pertinent questions regarding your health. He is very gentle and ensures that you are comfortable at all times. His offices are pristine and you never have to worry about him using anything that isn't sterile or clean. The towels are fresh and the "exam rooms" are free of any clutter. Very soothing music plays in the background to keep you calm. When you finish with your appointment, he comes back into your room and most of the time has to wake you up because you're so relaxed you feel like you just did 12 bong hits on your Betty Boop bong that you got from your big brother in the fraternity at college. You're relaxed and feel rejuvenated and your "ailments" are gone within a day or so (I ran my 10k in a personal best three days after I went to him the first time). If you're a skeptic, that's understandable but everyone that I've sent to Dr. Nobu over the years has come away a "convert." If you've tried everything else to "fix" something and haven't been to an acupuncturist, I would recommend giving it a try and DEFINITELY calling Dr. Nobu!! read more

Nobu is a healer. After dealing with Chron's disease for 4 years, I grew skeptical of Western medicine. I was taking 9 pills a day that my doctors said I would take the rest of my life. I began seeing Nobu back in 2005 to help treat this condition. After 6 months of treatment, I had completely weaned off of all medications. Shortly after, I had some intestinal testing done that showed no signs of any symptoms of Chron's. I'm not a typical "reviewer" of services, etc. In fact, this is my first online review ever but I felt compelled to submit given my experience with Dr. Nobu. I'm a believer in taking care of yourself through exercise, good nutrition, massage, prayer, social support and the occasional drink...however, had never considered acupuncture until a friend recommended Dr. Nobu after she learned that I was experiencing both infertility and resulting sadness / depression. I called Dr. Nobu with low expectations (did I mention the depression at the time) and went for my first appt having NO idea what to expect. Dr. Nobu was very gentle and kind and immediately put me at ease. To make a long story short, I began to feel better (physically and emotionally) after 2 weeks of seeing him and continued to have appts every 2 weeks until I found out I was expecting (about 3 months later). This is no joke and while I'm not crediting Dr. Nobu with the conception (my husband and other factors surley contributed...) I can't dismiss my acupuncture appts as a coincidence after 3 years of seeing fertility specialists, etc. While I'm not suggesting the Dr. Nobu is your answer to infertility, depression (or whatever problems you are experiencing) I couldn't pass up the opportunity to share my story with others who are considering acupuncture as an alternative medical treatment. read more

I first sought help from NOBU for severe neck pain. While I was reluctant to see any acupuncturist because of my fear of needles I needed help. NOBU's methods relieved my pain where other methods had failed. He is highly skilled at his disciple and craft and in subsequent visits has contributed significantly to my well being. But beyond his considerable skill he is a true healer with a kind and gentle spirit. Many can learn and practice healing arts but only a few have a real gift of healing touch. I saw Nobu today and must tell everyone about not only him, but his services. My partner has visited him a few times and she was recomended by a friend and both spoke very highly of Nobu. I have been fighting ongoing Gout for the past ten months and have not had a single day without pain in my feet. I have visited several "specialist" over the past 10 months without positive results. Well, I saw Nobu today and we talked about my attacks and he inserted what seemed like 1000 needles in my feet, ankles, legs and even my head.. At times they were slightly uncomfortable, but that only lasted a few seconds. I got up one hour later and felt a little better. By tonight I am completely pain free and I have not had that happen one day in the last 10 months! I am a true believer. Now, about his office.. very safe and clean, Nobu conducts himself with complete professionalism and is polite. He has hands of steel, but is very gentle in his ways of working with you.
