What a way to celebrate London! Yelp isn't really used much in the UK but I was happy to see this on the list. Drinks and ambience were top notch. Friendly servers and the food as well as the libations hit that spot. Super full but it was so worth it. Really fantastic for dates or a fun happy hour! Check this place out if you can!
Meat sweats! What a Sunday roast treat. We had the all in and we liked the pork and beef the best. It included all the trimmings as well. The cobbler for dessert had a lovely crumb.
Wow, what can be said about this little gem of a restaurant. This was our first meal in London and it don't disappoint. Service was exceptional, and the food was just as good. Had the ribeye, kale salad and chips followed up by the bread pudding. All wonderful, and the Aperol spritz was just as tasty. Highly recommend!
We came in for the Sunday Roast and it was great! Loved the variety of options and felt satisfied with the experience. However, I would say it's all a bit overhyped as none of the meat offerings were extraordinary. Service and speed are commendable. Reservations pretty straightforward. The 'variety' platter was a great way to try multiple meat options but only the beef stood out for us.
We came here as soon as we arrived in London and ended up coming back three times during our stay--that's how good it was! On our first visit we had the Sunday Roast (the All In) and it was beyond amazing. One tip: let them know how you'd like the meat cooked, otherwise it might be a bit under for most people's taste. The food was delicious, the atmosphere cozy, and it felt like home. The highlight was their white chocolate cheesecake--the best we've ever had. The host was extremely friendly, and even without a reservation we were seated quickly after just a short wait. Great food, wonderful service, and a truly welcoming place. Definitely a must-try in London.
Bring on the meat sweats! My girls and I squeezed in this last min reservation on our last day in London (which was also their Mother's Day) and so happy we did! We went all in with the food (Sunday roast with all the meats and fixings) and everything was delicious, we basically needed a wheelbarrow to take us out of there. We also ordered drinks too and they were strong. It was pretty busy and packed so highly recommend making reservations. There are also other locations but we liked our underground basement vibe. When visiting London, you can't leave without a Sunday Roast experience!
First time I've been in London for Sunday roast and my friend recommended Blacklock! Definitely need to make a reservation, as I saw everyone that tried to do a walk in get rejected. There's a special Sunday roast menu since they know what everyone came for. Opted for the 55 Day Aged Beef Rump. All their roasts come with Yorkshire pudding, duck fat-roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and gravy. You don't get to pick the way it's cooked, but it's essentially medium rare. I mean, this is everything I hoped for in a Sunday roast. The beef rump tasted great! Liked how the vegetables balanced everything out. Yorkshire pudding was fairly pedestrian. But can we talk about those duck fat-roast potatoes??? Super crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They were great! Service was fine, no complaints from me. Blacklock absolutely delivered on Sunday roast. Exactly what I wanted!
Excellent experience. Was able to walk in for lunch at noon on a Sunday since I didn't have reservations for later in the day. The place was half full when I arrived and near capacity when I left. The two pieces of meat were a little tough to cut through, which isn't a surprise for this price. Everything tasted great though and I'm glad I had a Sunday Roast to fuel my day.
Our family enjoyed the best roast at Blacklock earlier this month. It was our first ever Sunday roast and it didn't disappoint. We reserved a table months in advance for our group of 8 and they even fit us in a little earlier. The service was amazing and the food came out fast. Everything was amazing, including the gravy that I didn't capture. We would recommend in a heartbeat!
It's been a few years between visits. Sunday roast is still a good experience but this time around my roast came pretty much medium as opposed to a medium rare on my last trip in a smaller cut as well. They don't ask how well done you like it and I should probably specify though it was perfect last time. Someday I'll bring someone along so I can try the All In option. Good service. They'll bring the card reader around so you can tap to pay.
Wife and I went to Blacklock in Soho during our vacation in London. Pretty good, straightforward steakhouse. Fillet was cooked perfectly medium rare. Wife was a big fan of the steak and stout pie as well. Drinks tasted great, could've used a bit more booze though haha. Service was solid as well. Would recommend!
I'm actually tempted to give this place 4 stars given the sheer wait time necessary, not only for a table - if you don't have a reservation - but for the time it takes for the food to reach your table. However, to be fair, that just tells you how amazing this place is. Given that it's situated at the heart of Covent Garden, you can expect it to be extra busy for dinner, no matter the season; so reserve ahead if you don't want to have a 2-hour wait for walk-ins. As far as London steakhouses go, this place is on my Top 3. Steaks come a few different ways, from Sirloin to Rump Cap, so pick your favorite. The sides are all tailored to pair perfectly, but my personal favourite is the 10-hour roasted sweet potato. Unlike their slaws, salads, and beef-fat-drip chips, this is the perfect mix between healthiness and indulgence. They also have a burger, sandwich, and even a few vegetarien options, but really... who comes to a steakhouse and orders a salad? Drinks are also plentiful, including an impressive selection of wines to pair with your meat. Prices are also surprisingly affordable for what you're getting, so wait times and noise aside, there really are no minuses to complain about.
Every steak lover's dream! We had the medium rare porterhouse--easily the best of the best I've ever tasted. Got all the sauces, and each one added a burst of umami to every bite. So. Steakin. Good. Absolutely lives up to the hype. Will be back again!!!

wow..... this was .... WOW being from the states and seeing the typical sunday roast advertised on every platform made me NEED to try it for myself. i did copious amounts of research to find the absolute best in London and I can confidently say this. is. IT. we absolutely adored this meal. i shared it with my boyfriend and it was just enough for both of us. FOOD: beef with horseradish, lamb with mint sauce & pork with applesauce: WOW!!!! we absolutely loved this. phenomenally cooked and paired amazingly with the sauces. the Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roast potatoes, a selection of seasonal vegetables and blacklock Gravy were AMAZING!!!! absolutely scrumptious. i dream of the crispy potatoes that were so soft on the inside. vegetables were flavorful and i would swim in the gravy! ATMOSPHERE: coolest joint ever. bathrooms that say "east end boys" and "west end girls". when you enter there is neat decor with record players and low lighting. downstairs was a dimly lit, beautiful cacophony of people laughing, enjoying their meals & the greatest decor ever. it was such a vibe in this establishment! SERVICE: so helpful, fast service and kind people. everyone was so nice there! OVERALL RATING: 100000/10 i would definitely go back. i think back often of this meal and want to cry i crave it so badly! GO! RUN! read more
I was in London for a short 4 days but landed on a Sunday so I knew I had to try a Sunday roast! By the time I was planning, the only open reservation was at 2pm so I ended up coming for a late lunch. I opted for the all-in which includes a portion of the beef, lamb and pork roasts. A really great way to try their variety of meats. First, the portion was absolutely huge - I definitely appreciated how much vegetables there were, the roasted brussels and carrots were delicious. Sides were all good - including the roasted potatoes and yorkshire pudding. The star was the meat of course, my favorite ended up being the lamb which was super tender and flavorful. Loved the crispy pork rind that comes with the pork roast slices and the gravy and sauces on the side really rounded out the meal, added a ton of flavor and made it fun to try the different sauces with the variety of meats. Service was great and everything came out really quickly! Definitely would recommend Blacklock to try the famous Sunday roast in London, you can't go wrong here! read more
Made a reservation weeks in advance for Sunday roast and it did not disappoint. Because we were two people, we split the beef roast but our server recommended an extra portion of beef for £4.50 (and free extra Yorkshire pudding), which was definitely needed. The gravy was so delicious and paired well with the beef and vegetables. We also got the mushroom toast which was creamy and umami with the mushrooms - we even dipped our beef in the mushroom sauce too, excellent! read more

One of the other dishes that I wanted to try in London was the Sunday Roast at Blacklock, as it seemed to be something more unique to the UK. I made a reservation for dinner at around 7, but they were able to let me enter around half an hour earlier since I had gotten there before schedule. Here you go down the stairs into the restaurant, but the interior is quite spacious and seemed like it could fit a good amount of people. For my dish I decided to get the 55 Day Aged Beef Rump, which is roasted over English Oak and comes with Yorkshire pudding, duck fat-roast potatoes, and seasonal vegetables. The plate is quite large and pretty filling, so it's definitely more than enough for the average person. The beef rump was very tasty, and paired with the Blacklock gravy it had a lot of flavors to take in. The sides it came with were also amazing, as the potatoes were really crispy while the Yorkshire pudding was made really well. If you want an authentic British chophouse experience, this place is a good option for people to check out! read more

We had a fantastic Sunday roast! We loved the cozy, rustic downstairs dining room. Our server was attentive and kind. The roast - chef's kiss! So tender and flavorful. The Yorkshire pudding was soft on the inside with great flakiness on the outside. Tender vegetables soaked in the gravy were delightful. Such a fantastic meal! The white chocolate cheesecake was incredible. And it's homemade. How do I know? They gave us the dish it was made in to finish the last, big, portion! We were literally scraping the dish! Ate here for a Sunday roast- we did the "all in" which is beef, lamb, & pork with all the trimmings. We shared it between 3 of us and it was a good amount of food. The meat was juicy and soft. Service was quick and the waiter was attentive. The restaurant was busy, they were bringing out many orders of Sunday roasts. We ordered the crumble for dessert with ice cream for a sweet finish. read more
Sundays in the UK call for a Sunday roast! woke up in London and said I really need to have a Sunday roast. I googled the best Sunday roast and came up with this joint, everywhere it said it was impossible to get a reservation so I jumped on open table in the low and behold they had one reservation at noon and I grabbed it. I have to say hands-down this was the best Sunday roast I ever had. The Yorkshire pudding was so delicious and I know that's a basic dish but was so light and fluffy. We did all the different meats. All of them did not disappoint. The gravy did not disappoint and are you kidding me with that white chocolate cheesecake somebody call me an ambulance. I'm about to go into comatose. If I could give it more than a five star rating I would read more
What an amazing dinner for our family - recommendation from friends who said this was one of their favorite meals and now we understand! The steak was splendid - the fillet truly one of the best I've ever had, like butter, and the ribeye delicious and well balanced in terms of marble. TBH, we for the bernaise and pepper sauces but the meat was so delicious it was better undressed! Our daughter doesn't eat beef and enjoyed the cauliflower steak, and the sides were awesome - order up you'll be happy - sweet potato's were ridiculous, the fries cooked in beef fat, the slaw and the pear salad. Bread and gravy sorta a must, the blacklock lager delicious, and you'll regret not finishing off with the cheesecake - only restaurant I've ever been to that knows their dessert is so good they only have one option. This was as good or better than most American steakhouses and the prices far more reasonable. We came on a reservation between Harry Potter shows and we are so happy we did. Blacklock Soho is my favourite spot in London. If you like all kinds of meat, go for the All In Sunday Roast (£26) - beef, lamb, and pork with all the trimmings and endless gravy. Personally, I stick to the beef medium-well and it's perfect every time. And don't leave without the cheesecake - easily the best I've ever had. Great hospitality and service, easy booking. The atmosphere is relaxed but lively, perfect for a Sunday meal with friends or family. read more

Stopped by here on a recent food tour as I was pleasantly surprised. Inside is very inviting with lots of wood paneling and I could see myself eating a nice Sunday roast there on a rainy day However only got to sample the Pigs Head on toast with gravy- and let me tell you that it was absolutely delicious,nothing like I expected !! Win win Soft tender pull apart pork on toasted bread and delicious gravy that you pour all over and let it get soaked and then yum!!! It's not soggy at all which I was worried about All the rest of the food looked really good so would like to come back and try something else Reservations required as pretty popular read more
I made reservations for blacklock and we arrived 15 min past the grace period, we had asked our hotel to call to see if it was OK, but not sure if our hotel understood or did. They said they would call, but it didn't seem like they were going to do it soon. Blacklock said we were late and so our reservation was gone (so note do not come late). We waited around a while and we're able to be seated still. I was very jetlagged at this time and the darkness of the restaurant was not helping so I was falling asleep as I was eating which doesn't make an enjoyable situation. I took most of the meal back to my hotel and ate it at night when I couldn't sleep from jetlag, and it was delicious. I really liked the yorkshire pudding which was like a buttery popover and the veggies were very well roasted. I think I might have enjoyed the veggies more than the meat even. The potatoes were a but disappointing though, and I am a potato person, especially fried potatoes. The fry on this was just very hard, and the potatoes were also hard and dense tasting. I loved the quantity of gravy provided, drowning meat in gravy is a joy of mine. I also tried some of the sauces that were offered and wasn't a fan. Overall I enjoyed the food and felt like it was a good Sunday roast meal, but I don't have any other one to compare to. Would I go out of my way next time for it? No, probably not. read more
Convenient location in Soho. We shared a large Prime Rib which was solid. The Chips were very good. We went on a busy Saturday evening so the food took a little longer to come out than we would have expected. Would probably have been better off ordering the All In. read more
Blacklock has excellent steak with a casual dining atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable without the upcharge of fancy steakhouses. Side dishes were all cooked to perfection. Recs: Porterhouse- had the 700 grams to share for 2. It was the perfect size without the usual struggle to finish. They have a chalkboard on the pillars of the restaurant listing the sizes of steak available for the night which get crossed out as they get ordered. You don't want to go too late otherwise they get sold out. Medium rare was the way to go and it came out perfectly with the red center. It didn't come with any gravy or condiments- flavorful enough to eat straight. For the price of 45.50 pounds only Mondays! Garlic marrow- comes in a small block enough to share for 2. Adds a nice hint of garlic to top off your steak and a gel consistency to melt in your mouth. Unique side you don't see too often in American steakhouses. BBQ baby gems- sooo good I can eat this everyday. It's slightly charred but still retains its crispness as a lettuce. It's THE vegetable dish to pair with your steak. You can add additional types of meat under the skinny chops section of the menu- comes in a much smaller portion just enough for you to get a taste testing without fully committing to a full blown meal. Brilliant for the price of 5 pounds per chop. Will have to try their Sunday roast on our next trip to London! read more
Wait was long but fast. The restaurant was constantly packed but the servers MOVED and were very kind to every patron. Was an amazing meal on my day one in London and I would highly recommend. They have a few locations but this one in SOHO was the closer to me while hanging in Trafalgar square. I would def recommend the gravy or a side of sauce, the meat kind of got to be too much for me but this was a 2 person portion. read more

Food was amazing! We got the beef sunday roast and the service was great. The beer was cooked to perfection and the accompaniments were also excellent. The sauces and bottomless gravy really tie the meal together. Highly recommend. read more
