We came here twice while in London. It's great that they are open late. We were still seeing sights as in summer when the sun doesn't set until around 9:30pm, we stopped at several pubs and restaurants and their kitchens were closed, no longer serving food or no longer accepting any more customers for the evening. Which was crazy still daylight and you can't get something for dinner. I had the ribs to eat one night and they were great . Service was a little bit slow until they got going and then it moved along fairly smoothly for London, its reasonably priced but unfortunately like many places it's somewhat à la carte and by the end of the evening the bill significantly high. I rated it a 4 out of 5 as both times we were seated and we're not given any attention for quite awhile and both times people at other tables near us left, other people sat down and then were served at the same time we were. read more

Not sure if this is correct because I'm a tourist. But from what I read VAT is supposed to be included in the menu prices or else clearly stated. This Angus (Leicester Square) which clearly caters to a lot of tourists charged us VAT as a separate charge. I also don't think they reduced the menu prices so believe we were overcharged. So be careful if you go here and check your bill before paying. I didn't research the VAT issue thoroughly until after we got back to our hotel. My bad. Don't do it! Should have checked the reviews on Yelp first - lesson learned! We were so looking forward to a steak dinner. Unfortunately this isn't the best place for steak or service. It is crowded and loud. My grandson ordered the sirloin, I ordered a filet and my husband ordered a ribeye. They were cooked as requested but didn't have much flavor. We also ordered béarnaise sauce, again not much flavor. The Caesar salad was under dressed. We ordered the cheese garlic bread as an appetizer. It came with the meal instead of beforehand. It also came with a hair, so gross. When I pointed it out to our waitress, Zenya (?), she took the plate back to the kitchen and then returned with it and said it was my hair and she couldn't do anything about it. Run. At least for what I ordered. I ordered a stake and the thing arrived fast and cold with no flavor at all. Horrible appearance. Whatever leaves they put for decoration was more dead than the cow I had in front of me. The service was okay but do yourself a favor and go crossed the street to Five Guys instead. I recently dined at the Angus steak house and it was fabulous. I only waited a few minutes, maybe 10 for a table to open for me. I was greeted by my waitress, Ioannia, who was extremely pleasant. I ordered the steak salad and a glass of Chardonnay. Ioannaia brought me my wine shortly after I ordered it, it was an excellent wine. I received my steak salad soon after and the steak was cooked to perfection. For desert I had sticky pudding and a cappuccino, once again, perfect. I will return before I leave London. This restaurant is more like comfort food in my opinion. They were okay and pretty basic. Got the sampler, the steak and the soup. I did not expect much seeing by the cooking of the steak. Overall, this is a comfort food that would maintain its quality. Recommended to try but i do not think I will go back again to try its other food. read more

This is a second location. Both locations around London serve consistently good food, made to order. Staff ensures your food is to your liking, which I appreciated. This location is also clean, bathrooms included. Just remember to ask for the real thing when it comes to soft drinks, or you will be served the diet equivalent. read more

Good location, reasonable atmosphere. Service was poor. I ordered a steak fillet with chips. I noticed the head server apologizing to several tables about delays. It was 40 minutes to receive any food. Slowest service I have had in London. Really would not recommend this place. Uncomfortable is the only word to describe this restaurant. Located in a very touristy area in London, I can understand the staffs frustration and lack of patience. But don't take it out on the nice customers please!! Our waitress was super rude and would become bitter at the simplest requests e.g. asking to split the bill, a refill on a drink, etc. So uncomfortable to be dining there. When we placed our orders after sitting there being ignored for a solid 10 minutes in an almost empty restaurant, o asked for a dirty martini to which she replied "no. We don't do that here." What kind of a bar restaurant in a huge city doesn't or won't make a simple martini?! So bizarre. If you're in the area just keep walking and go to one of the other thousand restaurants nearby. read more

The Angus Steak House is in a premium tourist location, Leicester Square. They employ a lot of nice ladies, including the one in front of the outside dining area who's being paid to lure you in. You wouldn't really expect this to be a place for budget dining, and you'd be right: The steaks are of great quality, if not only cooked to order (my 300g sirloin steak, ordered rare, came almost well-done - I sent it back. The second time they got it right). But they sure aren't cheap, since they come without chips or salad or sauce! I ordered the sweet potato chips on the side, and those were fine. However, my starter, garlic mushrooms, was a big disappointment: The mushrooms clearly came from the can, and there was no garlicky taste at all. They were also cold when they finally reached my table. Hint: Don't eat here if you're in a hurry. They had Stella from tap, a fiver for a pint. There is a budget menu option at lunchtime, but when I arrived I was told everything but chicken was already out. I told the waitress I wasn't visiting a steak house to eat chicken anyway, upon which she smiled. That should have been my first warning. Service is friendly, if not particularly efficient. I counted four waiters and waitresses that serviced me during the meal. Not counting the "lady bait" at the entrance. Again, it's a premium tourist spot. I wouldn't call it a rip - off, but £40 for a starter, the steak, the fries, and two pints is something I'm not going to seek out again any time soon. read more

WHY did I not check Yelp before I ate here today?!? My chicken in the Chicken Carolina - a "chef recommendation" on the menu - was dry and tough. Only the cheese sauce made it edible but the worst part - the bill was 24 quid and the waiter tossed his phone at me after I signed my check. The phone had three tip options starting at ten pounds. First off - I thought roping wasn't customary in England. Secondly - 41%? The service wasn't that great and the food wasn't either. I feel totally ripped off. The Hubby was in a mood for steak and I wanted Treacle pudding for dessert from Garfunkel's (across the street).So we decided to eat here. I got the New York strip, hubby got the Rib Eye. Neither of us were very impressed. The meat was ok, not seasoned at all. Service was not the greatest. The strangest thing happened, a guy ....a flower seller with a bunch of flowers walked up to our table and tried to make my husband buy me a rose for 5 GBP!! I was expecting something great but I guess it cannot be compared to the steakhouses in the United States. Each steak costs about $30US so I guess I can't expect high quality beef. However, I'm giving it a three stars for food because it was flavorless. The steak has very little flavor. No salt. No pepper. No butter. The sides were decent and again, somewhat flavorless. My family ordered mac and cheese and ribs. Again, the ribs were okay, nothing exciting. I would give this restaurant a five for service and location. Looking back, I wouldn't order the ribeye. Instead, maybe I'll try the T-bone steak. It looked a little more appealing as I watched my neighbor table eat.Given the fact it was busy during St Patrick's Day, we did see a fight right outside the entrance. One night I was with my son in Leicester Square and it started to rain. My son was starving and he was not in the mood for Chinese down the way and he thinks British food sucks (sorry he said it not me) so we...gulp...went to this restaurant. He loves steaks and we did not have an umbrella so we came here. The place had a long wait except for on the patio so we opted for the patio. The service was just ok and my son thought the steak was just ok. I had soup but who can screw up soup. What surprised me was that I noticed several really wealthy people eating there...why? Don't let the looks fool you! The restaurant looks nice but the steaks were not good. The meat was bland and dry-we had the rib eye and the Angus filet. The rib eye had too much tendon. Ordered a lemonade but it came out as a Sprite with a lemon wedge-when asked about that, they did take it back. There was also a "cover charge" we didn't know about-even though it's just 1 pound each, it would be nice to know ahead of time. For 2, it came to be 55 pounds along with a tip. We ordered two steaks, thinking they might come with chips, and what we received were two bland, over cooked tiny chunks of meat that looked like they had been dropped on the floor. In an attempt to get some flavor for the steak we asked the waitress for some sauce and found that she couldn't speak a word of English. Then we asked another and the same thing happened. Walking through Leicester Square and couldn't figure out where to go. The place looked crowded, so thought it must be good. Well, as we walked in I noticed the steaks looked a little thin (didn't look up to the same standard as Mortons or Ruth Chris-even though it is probably the same price with the exchange rate), so... I know... it's a steak place.... but I decided to order a Salmon. To my surprise, out came a nice thick piece of salmon that had a nice crust on the outside and was tender on the inside. We chose the best looking one on the corner in Leicester Square, and were immediately sat with a table of 5, even though it looked packed. The menu didn't have much selection, and not being in the mood for a big steak or slab of ribs, I went with an appetizer and a couple of sides, including mac and cheese & a mixed greens salad. The walls are lined with bottles of wine, so a cheap 22pound bottle of wine was ordered, as well. Other than one friends steak being a little undercooked (and she ordered medium rare....haha), I was satisfied with the service, promptness, and food overall. After trying my friends ribs, I had wished I would of went all out and ordered them . They tasted so good (and he just had the regular 'ol bbq slab). Overpriced and underwhelming: do not make the mistake of eating here. Amidst the glistening lights of Piccadilly Circus, one is drawn to the subtle red of the Angus Steakhouse... Do NOT be fooled. The foundation of any reputable steakhouse is the quality of its meat and the manner in which it has been cooked. Here, Angus failed in both respects. My meat was not cooked as per my instruction. Even upon being returned to the kitchen. The meat, which came at a staggering £19, was served alone. Yes. Entirely naked. Devoid of any sides or even a sauce. You were required to pile everything else on top for an additional fee. That would have been acceptable had the meat been up to standard. Next, the waiting staff. Aside from taking 15 minutes to actually take my order, they could do with a class in manners and etiquette. Especially for a seemingly "higher" end establishment. I had to ask for my waitress to be changed. The only bright spark was the hostess/lady at the door. She was wonderfully polite. If you find yourself gazing longingly at the door (seeking to unravel Angus's subtle enigma) walk away very quickly. I didn't know this chain before. I was disappointed. The place is comfortable and the staff very professional, helpful and take care of you. But prices are high and although I have been informed that in England the read meal is expensive, I have been surprised. My main complaint is that for this price the meal is not so good and even the meal. Besides, I found they insist (maybe it's because my girlfriend and me are French) so much for tips. Came here after a play because it was the only place serving food after 10pm. Must be thee worst filet mignon I've ever tasted, and my friend's ribeye boasts the same. No seasoning to the meat, no flavor, the meat couldn't even be helped by HB sauce. Cooked unevenly too! Side we ordered: Mushrooms- terrible Mashed potatoes- bland and starchy. Avoid at any cost. The only good things about this place are the dessert and the building. It was way overpriced. The meat was average for the price, and the coleslaw tasted more like glue than actual coleslaw (still charges you 3.50£ for it somehow) The biggest problem is the staff. The waiters are really bad at their job. Not only are they bad at serving you, but they are also really bad at talking behind customers back and making fun of them. Most of the time, they would just stand next to the bar and talk to each other and giggle like little teenage girls and whining about how that guy eats or how this other guy looks like a fat frog when he eats. Best part is that they don't whisper when they say stuff like that and you can hear everything. And they expect you to tip them hahaha. Food was good, had a sea platter to share for starter. The mains however took a very long time to come after. The service was pretty poor, staff seem flustered and at one point I seen a male manager shouting at one other member of staff at the entrance to the restaurant which I felt was extremely unprofessional. At the start I ordered 1 beer, 1 coke and 2 tap waters, however the waitress returned with 2 cokes. The beer was rectified but the waters where never received. I asked for another coke at one point and it never same also, we got the generally idea we had been forgot about with the drink errors and the lateness of the main courses. Boys in Blue do Angus After a long 13 weeks at Sea HMS ILLUSTRIOUS headed into London for a Royal Visit. Minding out P's and Q's in front of Prince Charles and Prince Andrew we sipped champagne and nibbled on the Posh Canapés. Desperate to let our hair down we were itching to catch the tube to the West End, starving and in need of a pint we headed straight for Leicester Square still in Uniform. What could be better after 3 months at sea than a huge Steak. We sat outside (drawing plenty of attention in our uniforms) and were served a huge feast of steak and ribs. With the pints flowing we ate our way through our weight in meat it just kept coming. The waitress we had was unreal, she was so attentive, our pints never dried up and our plates were always full. We all had a steak, some had sirloin some had a rib eye and I had a Fillet Steak (all 12oz) and it was cooked perfectly pink in the middle with mushroom sauce, steak chips and onion rings plus a plate of ribs on the side (we are hungry lads). We had cold meats and combo platters to share as well as mixed breads. We nearly rolled out of the restaurant after being there for over three hours. We felt like kings the manager even came out for a chat and recommended some bars we should go to that night. I have honestly never eaten so well or been to a better restaurant. I would say to anyone visiting London and wanting a top quality steak to go to this Restaurant in Leister Square. We have been told were back in London in November and we are all looking forward to our Trip to Angus Steak House we have even planned what sauce we are having on our Ribs. Bring it on!
