We stopped by for an impromptu after dinner drink on a girls weekend in Portland and it was the highlight of our weekend. In addition to the wines being amazing, Anne was so friendly and knowledgeable - not just about wines and winemaking but also catered to some in our group who didn't drink alcohol, knowledgeably supporting other local beverage businesses. We were offered a behind-the-scenes tour and the step-by-step process and loved every minute - from the variety of wines, the story of the barrels and the quaint space. I also love how supportive she is of new wine makers and other women-owned businesses. I highly recommend this spot if you're a local or if you're just in town for a brief visit! Loads of local flavor!

I'm in love! I finally found a Pinot Noir that I can just drink alone, without pairing or recorking after 1 glass. Her 2015 Bjornson Vineyard is a game changer! We did a virtual tasting with Anne, the owner/maker, along with some friends on the east coast, with 6 of her 20 wines. They were all phenomenal. If Anne had a winery in Newberg, I would surely become a member. If you live in Portland, I'm not sure why you aren't, already. They are that good. And her great, down to earth conversation doesn't hurt, either. Can't wait to try the rest of her wines. I will have to make an exception and venture back out to Portland just to try the rest! They are definitely worth it.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy Anne's wines

A real gem on my burgeoning distillery tour of Portland!…read more Burgeoning because it turns out as much as other think I drink a lot (it's not a faze mom!!!) it turns out that I can only really ripple at one distillery a day. Anyway, I love that this tasting room is an easy walk from my place. Plus it's near all the food and other things I like when I take to the fire water and get to walking! I came during a private event and almost thought I wouldn't be able to taste. However they have a back bar area that has tables set up, so I was able to get my sip on. There are bunches and bunches to sip from the Hue Hue coffee rum (dangerous because you can sip this stuff straight, the coffee flavor is that good) to even an eggnog flavored tipple, you will find something interesting to taste! The tasting experience was informative and fun! It wasn't pretentious, and it truly was laid back. You can decide how much you wanted to interact. So if you just wanna sip and be left to your thoughts you're given the option. I bought a couple bottles and I will definitely be back for more. It's really cool to have a decent priced high quality distillery so close by!

The manager enjoys sharing his wealth of knowledge. We tasted our $5 whiskey flight in the lounge area, but you also have your choice of sitting at the pour bar or at small high tables. A bottle of their award winning rye whisky is $79 which seems like a good value. I enjoyed the coffee rum taster and bought a bottle for only $19.95. Their wide selection makes the place look cluttered, somewhat messy. You're somewhat over-stimulated by all the eye candy and making a selection gets confusing. Whatever, if that model works then more power to them. I will definitely return.

I indulged in a tasting which included 3 sets of 2 paired wines from bubbles to white to reds. Every pairing had an interesting story attached, making the tasting even more charming. I have been wanting to visit their winery which is located in the Columbia Gorge, but its a far trip for me so when I heard that they opened their tasting room in Portland downtown, I was so excited! Today I finally got to visit their beautiful and cozy tasting room located on Fremont st. in Portland. They have their winery-exclusive bottles as well as distribution wines, and a very reasonable tasting menu, with 4 Bubbles for $25 and mix of 6 varietals for $35, which is a must try if you're new to their wines. The service was top notch and the staff were so knowledgeable and could tell you everything from where the grapes are grown and how they're aged. I absolutely loved their 2023 Sparkling Chenin Blanc, which is made Prosecco style, mildly dry with great balance of bubbles. They also have Gamay Noir, which I highly recommend if you're into easy, light reds. Chardonnay is also so special, slightly tart and puckery, aged in both Stainless Steel and French Oak! I can go on and on... They have a Wine Club membership as well. Most wines are $30-$42 (some are $20s and even $84), moderately priced with excellent quality, highly worth it. Their famous Tempranillo Rosé and Heavy Glow which is a sparkling rosé at Whole Foods and they're some of their most popular bottles. I can't wait to come back.

From the beginning, her tone came across as unwelcoming and dismissive. While I understand that accommodating a large group can be challenging, it felt as though there was little effort made to help us or make us feel valued as guests. Even if accommodations weren't possible, a simple "We'll do our best" would have gone a long way. When we arrived for our reservation, we were immediately asked, "Are you going to eat?" which felt unnecessary and gave the impression that our business wasn't wanted. We were then told that the majority of our group needed to be present before we could be seated, despite having several people ready to sit down, order drinks, and begin spending money while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. That said, I want to recognize our waitress, Morgan, was wonderful. She was patient with our orders, attentive without being intrusive, and gave our group the space to enjoy our conversations and time together. Morgan's service was a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating experience. Overall, the issue wasn't the policies themselves--it was the way they were communicated. Hospitality is about making guests feel welcome, and unfortunately, that was not our experience with the front-of-house management.

There's a food truck and we were able to order food, although there was a little confusion about the QR codes. But that could be just on our part. I purchased a flight and was able to taste six different wines and ended up buying a lovely Pinot Noir to take home. I definitely will be going back again and would love to sit outside this time. They had table tables and chairs set up in different groupings around outside and I saw young families and other couples that were there. This was on a Saturday. They also had board games on the table so if you wanna go over and spend time with your friends playing games that would be a fun thing to do. So glad I got to experience this place!
