I called this office to get Autoimmune Disease testing, I already have one, but my hearing capacity is getting worse, and I have 15 new symptoms, almost ending up in the hospital. Call them, says "accepting new patients". I have to give all of my own personal info. about what is wrong with me to the secretary who answers the phone. What? Isn't this against HIPAA? So right away, she is humming and hawing, "oh we're so busy, he may not see you for 2 or 3 months". Great. I'm sick NOW, but thanks for absolutely not being concerned. Give her all of my symptoms, not super comfortable having to do that, now he's going to decide to "take my case or not". I ask for her to call me back, she assures me that they will, quadruple check, Yes we will let you know for sure. Well you guessed it, never heard from them. Very RUDE and inconsiderate. I call, leave a message, is he "taking my case" or not? Half a day goes by, a lady, sounded like a different lady, calls and leaves me a VM. She says that he's really busy and that he "can't afford" to accept more Medicare patients at this time, that Medicare doesn't pay him enough money, and I could call back in 4-6 months to see if he is accepting Medicare. What? I found this guy on the Medicare site! What a total jerk. Oh, and he's 72 himself, what insurance coverage do you think he is using??? Probably Medicare. So thanks useless Dr. Morton, who advertises "accepting new patients" and that you take full payment for Medicare. Because you want to buy a nicer car, or play more rounds of golf, or buy expensive new shoes, patients like me get to suffer, lose something like our hearing, live in pain, be in a fog all of the time, more pain, not be able to walk, drive or eat. But that's OK, because you and your god-like power get to decide whether to "take my case". Why did you even become a doctor? The medical community in this area is horrible, most of Michigan is horrible. Dr. Morton is horrible. Hope he has to go see a dr. for something serious and they refuse to "take his case" when he really needs it.

They refuse to look at the documentation we printed out showing coverages and payments from the insurance company that they were billing us for as well. As always, we attribute this success to an amazing trio: Dr. Raad Toma, who diagnosed the disease and developed the treatment plan. Dr. Michael Jacob, who performed the surgery, closely monitored my dad's recovery, and followed his progress during the first two years after surgery. Dr. Philip Philip, the oncologist who managed his chemotherapy treatment after surgery. I'm recognizing these doctors to express our heartfelt appreciation for the extraordinary gift they gave our family--the gift of more time with my father. I also want to share this to remind others that there is hope. Early diagnosis, combined with a dedicated medical team that truly cares, can make all the difference. A few months ago, I read about a promising new drug for treating this disease and several other types of cancer. Based on encouraging clinical trial results, the FDA granted accelerated approval, and it is now being used for certain cancers, especially advanced Stage III and Stage IV cases where survival rates have traditionally been very low. Before I got a word in "Dr. Toma" asked Can I help you?" I asked do you take "United Health Care Insurance?" Dr. Toma didn't say yes or no, But what she did say eurked me. She asked me am I a current client? I said no. She replies by saying "We're not taking additional clients at this time" and so I asked her if she could refer me to a doctor in the area? She says its against doctor code to refer to other doctors? Which we all know is bull. Now mind you their doctor's office is nearly empty all day long, I know because I live nearby and I walk by it everyday! I asked her then when would she begin to start taking new clients again? Her response was "We're not taking any more clients" I told a guy outside what happened and his response was "Man you got the shaft!"

Everything went as scheduled no hassles or delays. The staff was friendly, professional and attentive. I couldn't have asked for more...until I got the bill. Somewhere along the line the referral that my insurance company requires was never filled out. I have been trying for 8 months to get it straightened out, but I cannot get resolution. I have called more than 8 times always speaking to someone different (Lindsey and Patricia are the 2 most recent ones, since I started taking notes of my interactions) who says that they will talk to the referral coordinator and she will call me and get it straightened out. That is where it always ends, I never hear back from anyone. The only one who seems to follow up on anything is the billing dept. I never fail to get my statement telling me that they are sending me to collection if I don't pay them $2540. As a patient, I am helpless to get anything taken care of. I had no reason to believe that the referral was not in place, I am not the referral coordinator. I cannot write the referral, I am not the doctor. I cannot pay the bill, I am not the insurance company. I pay over $500 a month for insurance and I will NOT be forced to cover a bill because someone failed to have a form filled out that was totally out of my control. Someone else's incompetency should not cause me financial hardship.

The staff is friendly and the NP Nicole Hawkins takes the time to listen to my mom's concerns in order to better understand and treat her condition. Working with us, patiently, to find the best plan of action for care, then being clear and transparent about what we can expect makes a huge difference between leaving the doctor feeling hopeful or frustrated and being dismissed (what we continued to see with IHA/Trinity Health). I also plan to set up an appointment with Blue Sky when I'm ready for my annual physical and have suggested to my spouse and adult son to do the same.

Even after seeing the 5 star reviews of this doctor online and after talking to other friends who referred him, I never imagined he would be so good and so meticulous about everything. He spent a good 30+ minutes with us talking about all aspects of my fathers' (the patient) health. Even without any extensive previous medical records to go on, Dr. Grivej was able to help guide and give us a better understanding of my dad's medical problems. He knew a lot of the doctors my dad had been seeing and was very candid with us about the shortcomings of some of the specialists. He ordered a set of tests and let us know what to expect in following visits. After spending almost 2 weeks in the hospital with my Dad, my parents and I have never felt much more at ease and knowledgeable about the path to take than we have today.
