With so many shawarma spots in the area, it's hard to pick the best, they truly are pretty good, but I will say that Hello Shawarma has the advantage because of the beshka sandwich. It's like the Arab version of a Philly sandwich. I'm not Jordanian/Palestinian so this sandwich is a totally new concept for me and we are in love with it. I also love their pickle station. Those peppers and the cauliflowers are my favorite pickles and to have access to all that is a dream. Sometimes I just stop by for the pickles. Then of course, the bowls are delicious as well. Seating is always ample and service is always great. Overall, it's a must stop on your shawarma journey. Oh yeah, don't forget to try the lentil soup!

Hello Shawarma's wrap was pretty good; but, the manager's customer service was just wrong. Here's what happened: My order from Hello Shawarma (HS) tonight was a crispy lamb shawarma wrap, fries, a drink, a small lentil soup & small Jerusalem salad. (1) Order arrived incomplete because the soup and salad were missing (those were going to be my lunch tomorrow). When I called HS explaining that parts of my order are missing, the woman was pleasant & apologetic. She said the Grubhub driver told her my order was just a sandwich. She wondered what was going on since she had seen my order. So strange. Meanwhile, there's a Hello Shawarma sticky note on the delivery box showing my name, order # and the full list of what I ordered. (2) Her manager told her to tell me that the missing soup and salad will be there at Hello Shawarma for me whenever I can come by to pick them up!!! Very poor customer service from the manager. (3) My incomplete order was delivered late ... dropped off contact-free in an unattended hotel lobby ... (the exact opposite of my delivery instructions where I opted out of contact-free delivery and asked for a call or text upon arrival). (4) Earlier that evening, I called HS with a question before placing my order & was immediately placed on hold for 13+ minutes ... no one came back to the phone. I hung up & called back multiple times ... no one answered. I decided to take a chance and order from HS for the first (& now last) time. I regret that decision.

I love Hello Shawarma. Unfortunately I don't go that often because Bridgeview is a bit of a drive, but thanks to the Lombard location it's now more accessible. This new Hello Shawarma is located in a nice, large plaza with plenty of parking. What's more, there are other food options in this plaza and nearby, such as Seoul Bites, Cocomelt, Holy Buckets, and Chi Tea. This location is larger than the one is Bridgeview, which is great. You order at the counter and get a number to take to your table. If you order takeout, they will call your name when it's ready. We ordered a chicken shawarma meal (sandwich + fries + drink) and a beef bashka sandwich. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the bashka, but both dishes were tasty and satisfying. The fries were good, but didn't seem as good as the Bridgeview location. I also noticed that the Lombard location didn't include the sweet bbq (?) sauce with the bashka like Bridgeview does. In any case, good food and good service. I was happy to see the same gentleman here that runs the Bridgeview location, so food quality will hopefully be consistent.

First time in and it was packed with customers enjoying the food and family. Great layout that allows you to view your dish being made to all ingredients out to view as well. To be correct middle eastern crowd. But never once felt out of place. And Gentlemen working the front is very helpful in making sure exactly what I was ordering being it. My first time in I made a very clear multiple times. I had any questions. Do not hesitate to ask. I'll be back very soon

I called them because I wasn't sure if the online version would be too slow. We were a group of three that came in Saturday night at 7 pm. It was moderately busy. The staff were all welcoming with smiles on their faces and attentiveness. Prices were fair for the amount of food you receive. Food portions are colossal so I would recommend one appetizer and one entree if you are a couple. They give you a complimentary dish. We ordered arayes with meat, meat toshka, mixed grill with baba ghanouj, fillet of basa fried, and mint lemonade. They also offer you fresh Arabic coffee before you leave. This is about a 4.5-5. -arayes with meat 4 - this was not bad. It's like a tamer version of the meat toshka. -meat toshka 5 - I prefer this over the arayes because they add the Syrian cheese. This one was bursting with flavor the moment you took a bite out of it. The minced beef and lamb just melt in the mouth. -mixed grill 5 - this came with 3 big skewers (shish kabab, kufta kabab, and chicken tawook. It also has tomatoes and onions to help cut down the meat when digesting. There are two heaping portions of biryani and saffron rice and baba ghanouj. The baba ghanouj was creamy and flavorful. It goes well with the pita bread. The meats were cooked medium well unless you want something. I think next time I'll ask for the shish kababs to be cooked medium rare or medium for a more juicy taste. The chicken tawook and kufta were both succulent. -fillet of basa fried 5 - the two pieces of basa fillet were astronomical. It also comes with two different kinds of rice. The fish was flaky, moist, and seasoned. Make sure you add the lemon and eat it with the sauce. -mint lemonade 5 - this was very refreshing after eating a heavy meal.

The place is very busy so parking can be a bit hard to find but they do have an overflow lot. Inside, they have a seating area where you can wait until you're seated at a table. Both times I've been there the wait time was around 20-30 minutes but trust me, the food is worth the wait. Even though they were busy, our server was attentive and the food didn't take too long to come out. I went with a group and for our appetizer we tried the platter that comes with hummus, baba ganoush, grape leaves, and fresh pita bread. For my drink, I had the lemon mint smoothie...very refreshing. The plates that my husband and I got were the chicken shawarma sandwich with a salad and the filet plate that comes with rice as well as grilled tomato and grilled onion. They give you generous portions which made it possible for me to share some of my meal with someone in my group to try and I still had leftovers. Finally, we could not leave without having dessert. We had knafeh which is made fresh. Everything was amazing and I can't wait to come back next time I visit the Chicagoland area.

You don't need to go anywhere else for a very high end meal- it's here and very economical! All the food is halal, cooked fresh, generously portioned and full of traditional middle eastern flavors beyond what we imagined. The lamb- where do I begin? It was perfectly seasoned, as tender and delicious and the BEST IN THE AREA! We haven't had lamb this good since we left Greece. 10 stars! We also ordered falafel's that were crispy on the outside, perfectly sized and not a bit oily. Not overly seasoned and served piping hot! All the sauces; toum, tahini and the red sauce had their own authentic flavors. The red sauce was a wonderful blend of mint, cilantro, fresh ground tomato and herbs that gives additional flavor to the already excellent tender melt in your mouth lamb. I've since visited the Niles location several times. The food has always been consistently excellent, but unfortunately the service has never matched the quality of the kitchen. Today's visit was by far the worst. It took over 10 minutes for our server to come to the table to take our order. Throughout the meal, I had to repeatedly flag her down whenever we needed something. To make matters worse, she seemed to disappear halfway through dinner--I'm assuming she clocked out--because we had to get another server's attention just to receive basic assistance. The food, however, was fantastic. I ordered the Al Bawadi Seafood Mixed Grill, and it absolutely delivered. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. That's what makes this so frustrating. This restaurant serves some of the best Middle Eastern food in the area, but when you're paying premium prices, you expect service that matches the quality of the food. I still recommend the food without hesitation, but the consistently poor service at the Niles location is making it harder to justify returning.

What we got: Mint lemonade: 5/5. SO refreshing and delicious. Perfect sweetness and the little bit of pulp you get is great. I only wish there was more of it! Chicken arayes: 4.5/5. Crispy, cheesy, garlicky. Need I say more? Get some extra garlic on the side if you wanna take it up a notch. Fried halloumi: 4/5. These are like a soft mozzarella stick, so tasty. Definitely eat the pickles with them. Lamb chops: 4.5/5. 4 tender lamb chops seasoned beautifully. Definitely recommend the red rice over the yellow if you can handle a little bit of heat. Kanafeh: 5/5. Whoever thought that cheese, sweet syrup, phyllo, and pistachios would go together is a genius. Definitely don't leave without getting this dessert. The salt of the cheese perfectly balances out the sweetness. No notes! And get some peppermint tea to go with it too. And the portion sizes are huge! Definitely get your money's worth here. You order at the front, receive a pager, and wait for your food. They have additional drinks in the back. They are known for making Middle Eastern flatbread pizzas and kaaks (bagel). Customer service was great. They were very efficient at making the food and drinks. Everyone was nice. No one was pushy when we ordered our items. Prices were good, they were inexpensive. We ordered egg/meat/cheese, pepperoni, mixed meat bagel, sfeha with tahaina, and zaatar/akkawi cheese/cherry tomato. Honestly, everything was a 5/5. I liked that the pizzas weren't floppy and none of the ingredients slid off. The portions were huge. I also got a peach matcha. After mixing it, the peach taste was very noticeable: -The pepperoni tastes cleaner and more flavorful than the American places. For some reason, the American ones are so greasy and oily. -For the egg/meat/cheese pizza, the egg taste really stands out. -Sfeha is halal ground beef and has more flavor than regular ground beef. The tahaina helps make it pop. -The zaatar/akkawi/cherry tomato is an awesome combination. When you take that first bite, you'll immediately taste all of the ingredients. It's that prominent. -The mixed meat kaak has halal turkey, halal roast beef, halal salami, mozzarella, Mexican cheese, and their signature sauce. They give you two cups of sauces. One I think is the signature sauce and the red one is a little spicy. The portion is big enough to share between 3-4 people.

Even packed up the leftovers- did a great job Food (A-) I got the combination plate and it tasted exactly how it did 20 years ago. This is both a positive and a negative. Taste was excellent - especially the lamb, meatballs and sauce over the rice and dolmas. Great portion size also. Will get stuff. Came with potatoes and veggies. On the negative it tasted very heavy. I was expecting it to be "lighter". Not sure I am describing it correctly. I am going to order it again as it's excellent but I think I am eating a ton of butter and or oil. Maybe I am not but something gave it the heavy feel. Also with bread service - I appreciate they provide it but feels very 90s. Thr bread was okay and the butter was the small little packages of butter. So I really do like this place and am being overly critical so I would strongly recommend going for a safe bet Greek place. My recommendations for them 1. Too many options on the menu - need to skinny it down 2. Higher quality bread and butter 3. An actual simple lunch menu. However, my last review of this place was over four years ago, so I thought it was about time to update this. I still give it a solid four stars because this place is key and king on consistency. If there's one thing you can rely on here is that that same recipe from 10 years ago or 30 years ago is still the same good recipe today. And that is absolutely fantastic. I do believe the portions have gotten slightly smaller over the years and obviously prices have gone up, but this is to be expected. The only downfall of this location is that they never take reservations that if you come during peak hours, you better expect to wait even over and up to an hour. Something else that I've seen really evolved at this place is that when they originally first opened, including the Greektown location, all servers, including bus, boys, etc., were all Greek that has definitely changed now over the years The parking lot here is still very generous however during peak times beware it will be hard to find the parking space and there is no valet.
