Decided to try the restaurant in Lombard as we've been to the one in Chicago. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is large and seats are spread out which was nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The saganaki was good. The grilled calamari was soft and not rubbery. The lamb loins were tender and nicely portioned. Service was a slight bit slow but the waiter was nice.

What a sad sad place. Ate here for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The floors are all greasy so clearly they don't clean their floors the night before.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The window curtains are all stained.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The employees all seem to be in a drag. Ordered the saganaki. Our family, except for 1, went to the washroom to wash our hand. Guy came out and lit the cheese on fire for the one family member who was still looking at the menu. The cut pita for dipping was dry. The whole pita that came out with the gyro was better but I've had much better pita elsewhere. Attached is a picture of the Greek salad. That is one sad looking salad. Bottom line: over priced Greek food that is subpar served by employees who don't care in a gross restaurant that is way past its prime. Extra star is for the skordalia because I can't seem to find that at other Greek places I've been to. Front staff male greeter was nice. Note to self: don't come back here.

Went for lunch. Soup and salad were great. Pasticho was just ok. Haven't had it with sauce like that. (See pic) Roast lamb wasn't great either. Wish I would have got something else!!

We were a little worried because the people at the front desk were not very friendly or welcoming when we arrived. We went on Halloween around 6:30pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't very busy, it just seemed as if they didn't want to be bothered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We almost walked out. Thankfully, we decided to stay and try it out. Our waiter was a different story. He was friendly and warm. We're pretty picky when it comes to Greek food, we grew up with Greek family members, so we're pretty familiar with the cuisine. Everything we had was great! We would definitely be back for the food. We still have our favorite in the city, but it's nice to have a spot close to home to get taramousalata from when we've got a craving.

Amazingggg Spot for Greek food!!!!! We usually order the saganaki for appetizers and chicken kebab with veggies/rice for main course. So flavorful and yum! Wonderful service by the waiter!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience reminds me of my visit to Greece :)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came here for my work friend's birthday lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were a big group and we got seated on a nice table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It felt quite busy as lots of people were visiting this place after their church service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our food was very good - great selection of drinks as well.

Number one attraction: the tableside flaming saganaki cheese! Very rarely do you get to see this down tableside anymore, but it is so fun and truly adds to the flavor and texture when it's freshly flamed. You can tell that our server had a blast with this as well haha! Overall we love the food here, my parents and I often went to location in Greek Town while I was a student at UIC, so it's nice to have a more accessible location to us out here in the suburbs. The food is just as good as the Greek Town location! I love the gyros here, one of my favorites of the main Greek restaurants in the city. We also enjoyed the spanikopita, hummus, and chicken souvlaki (skewers). It's a true homey Greek restaurant with the expected decor and style, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Flaming Saganaki Cheese and Hot Lima Beans

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and was in the area on a Saturday night when the time finally came. When we pulled into the parking lot, the place was packed. We parked pretty far away and when we walked inside there were people everywhere, but somehow when we reached the hostess there was only a 5-15 minute wait. There is a lot of space inside and it seemed like the perfect fit for everyone - families with young kids, older couples, larger get together, etc. The menu is huge and was a bit intimidating to decide. We started with the flaming saganaki cheese and hot lima beans appetizers which were both so good! The flaming saganaki was definitely a crowd favorite with the presentation. Those two appetizers (along with the complimentary bread) actually filled us up pretty well so we split an entree. We chose something of the special menu which was chunks of lamb mixed with orzo inside a clay pot. It was so good and the lamb was the most tender thing I've ever had. Lots of delicious food. Great staff. Very decent prices. Highly recommend!

I have been to the city location but why have I not been to this one that's closer to home?! So glad I was finally able to check out this location! It was what seemed like a pretty busy Saturday night. They do not take reservations and it is first come first serve basis. We didn't wait long, we were told 30 minute wait for 3 people. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves at their table. Everyone was chill, no one seemed like they were in a rush. My friends and I all shared everything. I ordered a avgolemono soup because I'm notorious for ordering soup everywhere. We got grilled octopus, spinach cheese pie, Mediterranean chicken breast, beef tenderloin shishkabob. It came with rice, potato, and vegetables. Everything was delicious! We were so full, but of course, there's always room for dessert. We decided on tiramisu.... And finished it. Guess the only complaint that we had was that our drink was way too sweet. We had to keep adding water to it. Although, I'm already looking forward to my next visit!!

Ask the Community - Greek Islands

Do they take reservations for a Sunday night or in general?

Only for "larger" parties. Phone first to clarify.

Anyone know if restaurant is still open? Have been calling repeatedly Sunday evening 5/17, but no answer, no recording. Hmmm.

Yes they are open. Patio seating $ carryout only due to Covid 19.

We'll grab coffee next door and maybe a couple of drinks from the bar. They tend to have a deal like buckets or bloody mary's. I've tried the food and not blown away but for having the option while you're there... not bad. As far as golfing, I think the simulator is great. The leveling platform is a fun element. It's fairly intuitive as far as tee height, changing your putt lineup, etc. I'm a beginner and have felt comfortable golfing horribly here. The putting green is a nice way to end the day on the way out or if you're not able to be seated immediately- take the chance to practice! Their staff is often busy but I would say reasonably so considering they're serving and helping with the simulators. Super kind and have seem them go the extra mile a few times now. Order early and I'm sure you'll get your fill Unless you're Joe, the guy who left that review sucks.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant…read more We made a reservation on their website. On a Friday night we were able to get a patio seat and enjoy the nice weather. They have a nice lounge area on the patio as well to enjoy drinks. I had enchiladas. I like that they give you the option to choose two. They also let me get no shrimp in the chicken & shrimp enchilada. I appreciate their flexibility. My husband had the tacos. He chose the three he wanted. There were plenty of options. Positives: -variety of food on the menu -flexibility and accuracy -huge patio and lounge area - kids meal: good options, very reasonable price, includes milk. My son had a chicken quesadilla, mac and cheese, and corn. We also added the churro sundae. He loved it! -good happy hour deals 3-6pm -friendly service I would come back!

I enjoy the light feeling that hits you upon walking in while at the same time knowing that the place is just as beautiful at night. We were sat down quickly and our waiter Gianna met us promptly. We ordered drinks and began conversation. I ordered the cucumber lime drink, while my coworker order the pineapple and coconut drink. When our drinks arrived, our waiter sat them in front of the wrong people and that made for a doozy. We placed our orders and noticed that our waiter was the only one serving about 3-4 tables during the lunch hour! I ordered the barria tacos with black beans and refried beans. The refried beans didn't taste very good, but the black beans were flavorful and complimented the meal well. The Barria tacos were dry and then it hit us that we were not given the consommé that goes with our meal. I also ordered a side of chicken tortilla soup.......it was served lukewarm to cold. Unfortunately it didn't taste good and I sent it back. I won't write Ancho & Agave off just yet, but I'm going to keep a watch for improvements on my next visit.
