Meeting Dr.Stark changed my whole view of optometrists. (no pun intended) She is very knowledgable, very thorough and very kind. She really took the time to make sure everything was right and double check to make sure that I was healthy all around and not just my eyes. I went to Dr. Stark just to have my glasses renewed since it had been two years. It took 31/2 weeks to receive my new glasses and the prescription was wrong. She told me it was because I had edema in my eyes and prescribed some eye drops that actually hurt my eyes. I have since gone to an Ophthalmologist who did not find anything wrong with my eyes and wrote me a new prescription. I am not going back. She is very personal and very kind but her results are questionable! read more

What a wonderful optometrist Dr. Stark is! I'll never go to anyone else. I saw her only because my regular eye doc was booked solid and I needed an adjustment to my glasses. What a find! This is the first eye check I've ever had that wasn't done at lightning speed. The docs always seem to zoom through "Which is better, 1 or 2?" and I'm never sure at the end of it whether I chose correctly between lenses or not, I'm never sure that the prescription will be entirely right. This time I was sure because Dr. Stark took her time, double-checked, and suggested improvements that no one had ever taken the time to discuss with me before. Great doc! read more

Dr. Stark is a wonderful, friendly, and thorough doctor. I have been going to her for about five years now and just adore her. She is so caring and kind, and I always feel that she is very competent and explains everything thoroughly to me. I will keep going back as long as I am in the area. Her staff are generally friendly too, and helped me pick out some really nice frames. I appreciate their advice on frames, as they all seem to look similar after a while. Great doctor, would recommend her to everyone. EDIT: Tried going to a different doctor as my insurance changed and after that visit, I decided to switch back to Dr. Stark even paying out of pocket. Another plus is that it is fairly easy to get appointments with her on very short notice, and you don't have to wait weeks to see her as with other doctors. read more

I understand the good reviews on Dr Stark as she seemed very knowledgeable, thorough, and takes the time to educate you. So in the beginning, I was impressed. I have to say though, I felt like she was really trying to sell certain products rather than just check out my eyes and let me have my prescription. It was like I was at a car dealership for eye care. With this being said, I am a young, healthy person coming in for a basic check up and to get a prescription for contact lenses. I've never had an eye doctor focus so much on the ducts in my eyes and prescribe an extensive daily regimen, which included filling a prescription for eye drops, buying special eye cleansing wipes, and there was an attempt to have me buy some special eye pad with heated gel beads, all because my eye lids looked slightly oily to her under a magnifying glass. I would understand the rationale behind this regimen if I actually had a stye currently, but I don't. They also require a contact follow up visit, which she stated was a part of the first exam and I would not be charged. I came back for the follow up basically so I could get my prescription. She did an additional "lid exam" and they billed me for it, telling me anything that had to do with contact lenses was no additional charge, but the lid exam was charged to my insurance company. I just thought that was very misleading and I felt taken advantage of at that point. I don't want to say don't go to this doctor because I actually did like her and her team, BUT I would just be weary of the additional unnecessary exams so you don't get charged for something you don't feel that you need. read more

She is a really, really great and thorough doctor. She takes her time with you and really seems to care that you are comfortable and happy - she'll even take time to help you choose frames and give you her opinion. That may seem silly, but if you go to the Hour Eyes type places, the difference is absolutely night and day. I have stayed with her despite moving from the area because I doubt I'll find anyone better. As others mentioned, her staff is professional and helpful as well. And she has a very, very, very clean office! Edit: I just went again for my annual appointment, and remain confident in my 5-star rating. She is simply wonderful. I typically order my contacts through another vendor, but they more or less matched the price, so I ordered from her office this time. Once again, she was thorough, she always engages me in conversation, and is just so thorough and competent. Her staff has always been extremely professional to me as well, and this time was no exception. This was the first eye doctor I went to when I first moved to the area. I had gone back in '09 I believe. What I remember on my first impression was that she was a good doctor and I liked her. But the reason I gave her 2 stars is because of the way she reacted when I requested something. I have been wear gas permeable contacts for as long as I can remember and when I went in to see her, I was asking about switching to soft. Switching to the soft was not good for me at all and when I told the Dr of my issues/concerns she came back to me and said that I couldn't go back to gas permeable. I didn't like the fact that she refused to put me back on to gas permeable because she found soft much better regardless that I was putting in eye drops every 30mins and could barely keep my eyes open so it appears as if I'm constantly squinting. read more

I just recently had first visit at Dr. Stark's office (Visual Image Eyecare Associates) -- I've dealt regularly with optometrists my entire life; Dr. Stark spent the most time with me in exam, capturing my history, answering my questions and concerns, and she has a delightful personality to boot. Her thoroughness was impressive; her staff was friendly and detail-oriented; they did not "hurry" me in and out when choosing glasses, they were very helpful in finding me the right frames. They handled my insurance and did their best to find the "best deal" for my choices. I've since received my glasses; I am a very happy client. Dr. Stark is one of the best doctors I've seen; she takes the time to do a very thorough exam and recommends practical treatments to keep you eyes healthy. I would much rather avoid problems with my eyes than have to resort to expensive treatments. Her staff is courteous and helpful. This is twice now I've had an appointment and left sitting in the waiting room for 30 minutes only to be moved into another room and left completely alone for another 20 minutes. Then moved to a third room where I was left alone, in the dark for another 20 minutes. Never even saw the doctor. So I excused myself and walked out. Never again! The only interest they had in me was making sure they knew who to charge. Better not be a bill unless it's from me to Dr Stark for wasting my time. Bought a pair of glasses there and after 6 months, they are trashed. I was going to bring it up but I may still be waiting to see someone. If you value your time, Id go anywhere else. read more

Updates: After I posted this review, i got a follow up call from the office and asked me to bring in the glass for free replacement because it is still under 2-years warranty. Several days later the Dr. sent me an email following up, which is very nice. Thinking of being fair to the Dr. I wanted to provide the updates for whoever read this review, and increase the review grading. 8/19/2015 This is my first review ever in my entire life. I just got off the phone with the office staff. I got a pair of glasses from them 1.5 year ago and spent about $400 only on lens, i ordered for the scratch resistant lens. Now my lens got scratched horribly and even the coating is falling off. I have been wearing glasses for over 20 years and I have never seen this issue. The staff was super irritating. She did not even spend a single second to understand what is my question/problem, andnjust said "you did not get the new pair of glass when you did the eye exam in January 2015. So it is normal that the glass can be scratched!". Really? Even with the coating is peeling off? Am I expect to change my glass every year even when I spent almost $400 on the lens (pretty much every possible high-end option)? I will never go back to this office again just because of the staffs. read more

It was just over one year ago I first visited Dr. Stark. I was horrified with the service I received. My first appointment, I waited 45 min in the exam room with my 1 year old daughter because the doctor had not arrived to work yet. The exam itself took over 1.5 hours. I was told I had glaucoma, which upon further testing, was not true. My contact lense follow up appointment was a similar story. I waited so long to see her, I had to leave to make it to work then told I had to reschedule within her schedule. Excuse me, you missed my appointment, and you asked me to work in my follow up within your schedule? No. Fast forward to 4 days ago. My contact lense prescription expired two days before I tried to reorder. I called the office asking for an extension while I set up an appointment for an exam. The office attendant insisted he would return my call before close of business. I waited, and 20 min after the office 'closed', I called, and come to find out he was unable to extend it, but didn't seem to remember he was going to call. I was told I needed to wait until Monday so he could discuss it with the Dr and let me know. I left a message over the weekend asking them to please call me Monday about my prescription. Needless to say, it is Wednesday, and I haven't heard ANYTHING. As far as I'm concerned, I will NEVER see this 'doctor' again. Her entire practice is extremely unprofessional. I am a healthcare provider myself, and I would NEVER allow my practice to be run in this fashion. In conclusion, I have had an appointment with My Eye Dr, was in/out in 15 min, loved the Dr, and have received new contacts. If you want excellent service, DO NOT VISIT THIS OFFICE. Also, I made a comment on this same site one year ago and it is very interesting that that comment has been removed. I thought this was a public forum and there is freedom of expression. Scam! I have been going to Dr. Stark for three years and prior to this year have always liked her as an eye doctor, but after my recent appt. I will never go back and advise none of you to go either! My appt. lasted three hours for a basic checkup, mostly just waiting and no one would let me know what was going on or why I was having to wait so long even when I asked....3hrs! When I went to pay the guy taking my payment was very confused on how to calculate my insurance, which is basic vsp and I have had for all three years. Then I have a call back 3 weeks later telling me that they need to charge me an extra $50 because te doctor forced me to try on different contacts even though I told her I wanted to stay with mine, and ended up staying with them. The office has truly gone down hill and I would very strongly advise not going--even if some of the older reviews are saying she is good, because I would have agreed with them until my last visit! read more

After going to a place (visual health Arlington-Clarendon) which gave me wrong prescription (glasses and contact lenses) 3x and made my glasses wrong 5x, she was able to figure it out everything. Stay away! While the staff and Dr. Stark are very nice and personable , it's not enough to make up for the time, money and frustration I spent in trying to get the correct pair of prescription glasses. In the end, I eventually received a pair of eyeglasses after 7 weeks that I can't even wear because they give me a headache and nausea . I suspect it's a wrong prescription, but it's not worth me trying anymore with this provider to get glasses that I can wear. First, I had to wait 4 weeks from my initial eye exam to get my glasses the first time only to find out that the prescription in the glasses was wrong! I then had to wait an additional 2+ weeks to finally get the lenses redone with the correct prescription. And That was after the Dr. told me that there may be a charge to re-do the glasses even though it was the lab's fault! In the end the lab redid the glasses at no charge since it was their error; however, I still can't see well with these glasses. So in the end I've spent $260 for nothing and wasted 7 weeks! I'll definitely be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Dr. Stark and her office staff are excellent. I had red eyes and was in pain. When I called the staff , they put me in the first spot they could get. I went through the check in less than 1 hour including me getting to the office 15 minutes early to fill up forms with my new insurance information. Dr. Stark was friendly and professional as usual. I visited the office 3-4 times. In between I switched to other optometrist because Dr. Stark office didn't cover the insurance I had. But I had bad experience in other place and ended up going back to her place and I got cured immediately. Other nice thing is that her staff literally ran out of the door to stop me so I could get a nice coupon to save me almost $100 on prescription. I would recommend every one if you got red eyes to cure :) read more

I am a new patient and was very happy with the service, professionalism of dr. Stark and staff, the eye exams were thorough and not rushed at all. I was fitted with both contacts and glasses and dr. Stark patiently explained all the options, according to my prescription. She was efficient, yet friendly with a sense of humor, the staff were also efficient, experienced and accomodating, I was able to fully use my insurance plan, with lots of glasses frames to choose from. The only caveat is be prepared to spend a little extra time because this is a one woman office. Also, the glasses are supposed to take over 5 to 10 business days...but this may be a typical turnaround. Overall, very pleased with this office and will send the rest of my family there too. read more

After reading all the nice reviews I was looking forward to joining this practice since my previous ophthalmologist no longer accepts Tricare. I had to wait until after 3 pm to call to make the appointment since their office doesn't open until 3pm on Wednesdays. I asked if they accept my insurance and the receptionist said she did not know, that I had to call Tricare to find out. I said she should know if her practice accepts certain insurance plans or not and again she said I would have to call my insurance. I have Tricare Standard and she should have been able to answer a simple question such as this one. I am very disappointed with how unhelpful the receptionist was, I´m sure Dr. Stark is a great doctor. read more
