I do not understand why there are so many negative reviews. This place has the VERY best customer service! The service desk are so efficient, the optometrists have always been thorough and the remainder of the staff have always been professional, friendly and helpful. Now I have been going to them for YEARS. I don't know if these people don't manage their expectations or they just are just predisposed to being nasty when they don't get their way. The concern is consistency. Are they consistently helpful? Are they knowledgeable? Do they try to get the best possible price? Now every now and again, there may be misunderstandings, but they are few and far between and always, after clarification, it is usually something I did not understand OR I was having a bad day. People are very fickle in general and if you do not kowtow to every demand, they take to social media or write a nasty review. How would they feel if they were business owners? I am NOT a shareholder, and I am not asked to post on Yelp, I do it on my own accord. After all, these are supposed to be helpful to others, not a means cathartic means to relieve your stress. This is for the MyEyeDr location on Centreville Rd in Chantilly, the old EyeStreet Optical place. So much has changed since it went corporate a few years ago. What was a local business turned corporate. All but two people left, and none of the drs stayed. Now it's all about sales. The one optometrist I've gotten to know and like is leaving next month. I understand that people come and go, but there were people who knew me by name that made me feel welcome. Even of the two that stayed have fallen into the corporate trap. Good for the owner to cash in and sell a great business with several locations, but it's too bad he did because it's not as good as it was. read more

This place is disgusting. Not only were all the display frames covered in fingerprints, but they don't clean their exam machines. I went in on Friday and the next day I had a rash on my forehead. Now it is Sunday and I have a full blown fungal infection on my forehead. See attached picture. Im unsure what Fairfax County and/or Virginia resources I can leverage to report their abysmal hygienic practices, but I'll find out more on Monday. read more

When I made the appointment, they said that they took my insurance and then once I got there, they said oh unfortunately, we're having trouble taking your insurance right now for some reason so we can't see you. Most people carve out their whole day around scheduling and this was a major disappointment. If you have TRICARE insurance of any kind, I would not even bother making an appointment here. read more

The Franklin Farm location couldn't perform all of the services I needed today...so now it's back to the Chantilly/on Centreville Road location to finish up (another appointment & another day to be taken up). Target/CVS pharmacy can't fill my eye drops for high pressure because the doc today didn't write it up correctly....the pharmacy called them but still no answer as of tonight. The most unprofessional myeyedr location! My mom made an appointment here over the phone, when she went to the appointment she was told she didn't have an appointment, then the receptionist remembered writing down her appointment on a piece of paper but not putting it in their system. They told her to come back in 40 minutes for their next available appointment time slot EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THEIR ERROR. While waiting out the 40 minutes she was called and told they didn't accept her Cigna insurance... none of which was previously communicated. Also why is it that every other eye Dr accepts Cigna but this location does not? read more

I've been getting glasses from MyEyeDr at this location for over 10 years. It's always been great selection and good service. This year, I worked with Shawn Garrahan (GM) and it was the easiest process ever-- amazing! Shawn made sure he really listened to what I wanted (and didn't want) and guided me to great frame options. It was the most smooth that frame shopping has ever been for me! He also pointed some out that I'd never have looked at upon first glance; they didn't appear to have what I needed-however they did (stealthily) in the end, they're what I chose. I've had them for a couple of weeks and they're PERFECT! Thanks to Shawn I have fun new glasses and felt like I was really heard. Definitely 5 stars! read more

VERY disappointed by the office staff at this location. I had taken a day off work to see a specific doctor who has limited availability and will be leaving the company soon. I even got the automated reminder call on saturday (today is monday) and I show up and find this sign. I understand, a "facility emergency" is out of your control but you can at least call your patients with scheduled appointments to advise us not to show up. I lost a day off of work for this. Shame on you My Eye Dr, shame on Update: I spoke with the GM of the location who was sincere in his apology for the mixup. terrible customer service, here's the scam. You purchase lenses and frames, get charged and about the year mark lenses turn to garbage, pure junk, can't wear because the fog is so bad. Fairfax Corner location basically said that the product only has a short life span therefore you need to buy new lenses every year or two, even though your prescription stays the same the lenses go bad. The crazy thing is that the staff agrees that my lenses were trash, an obvious defective product, then said sorry we don't stand behind our product, but you can pay for new lenses if you like, seriously, why would the person you screwed over want to purchase another poorly made product?? My glasses were stepped on and I needed a quick fix. I called MyEyeDr at Fairfax Corner and they were very helpful. I was encouraged to bring the glasses in for repair. I did. As I entered, they immediately took care of the situation and asked me to wait. About 15 minutes later, they approached me with a smile and my repaired glasses in hand. They refused payment. I've been coming to My Eye Dr. since 2013. I used to go to the one in Arlington near Clarendon and started coming to the Fairfax location around 2017. I've also been to a few Washingtonian magazine TOP DOCTOR recommended practitioners... Let me tell you Dr. Tunc is the BEST My Eye Dr. practitioner I have EVER encountered and quite possibly the best optometrist I've ever seen (and I've been going to Eye doctors all over the country for over 40 years)! She is so smart, witty, professional and her bedside manner is impeccable. I will return to see her each year to renew my contact lens/eyeglass prescription until I get Lasik one day and don't need contacts/eye-glasses anymore. If Dr. Tunc ever leaves the practice, I'll look her up and try to follow her! read more

I just want to say how grateful I am that I found this place. I came here for the first time about a month ago. The front desk lady was so patient with me on the phone despite my changing of appointments and questions. My very first visit I felt welcomed and listened to. Before coming here my eye place was horrible. I was having horrible headaches and they did nothing to help. The lady that saw me took her time with me and told me I have astigmatism, which is probably why I was having headaches, wrong prescription. This store is the McDonalds of eye care. If you order from them, your glasses will always be late. They will never arrive on the date they give you. Expect to get them weeks to months late. The managers are awful. They hire staff that are qualified to work at a fast food place. The one that is qualified does not care after a sale is made. Okay, I didn't read the reviews prior to coming to this place. I should've. Really. The good - the eye doctor who took care of me was knowledgable and straightforward. He was efficient and nice. He didn't try to sell me anything at all. Definitely would like to have him as my go to eye doctor. The bad - That I felt a bit pressured to get frames from the place. The guys were really kind, but when I made the decision not to get frames from there a) expensive (going for the brand name) b) they didn't accept my insurance c) didn't have a lot of great selections The ugly - First, I made an appointment and online, it stated what vision insurance carrier I've had. I typed it in and they had 2 weeks to work it out, with my information. I come in and I didn't have my card, cause I never got one (I knew the vision insr via HR). They assumed I had VSP, I don't. They went ahead and took me in while they've researched. Come to find out, the plan I had closed on the weekend. I was forced to pay out of pocket. Thankfully, I was out $59. But still. Once again I got professional service from MyEyeDr in Fairfax. I called in the morning because my eye was scratched the night before and they worked me in the same day without any hassle. I showed up and the doctor (maybe Dr. Harbi) took care of me promptly. She was highly intelligent, very friendly, and I was relieved to have a pro examine me. She also took the time to call my home and ensure I received the necessary antibiotic from our pharmacy. MyEyeDoctor remains one of my few trusted practices. read more

I just saw the last review and it shocked me. I specially came on here to say how happy I was with who helped me. I was helped by an African American woman who even gave me the vsp discounted price that the Alexandria location didn't give me last year. She gave me suggestions while I was looking at glasses and even checked the back to find the type of glasses I was looking for. Keep up the good work and thank you for your help. My only negative is it took longer to get my glasses made this time but they were great once they were finished. And I almost forgot, the eye doctor here, and I feel terrible that I forgot her name, she was the best too. I help people with Medicare and the people I help get surprising bills from their eye doctor after cataract surgery and she helped me understand why. She didn't have to go the extra mile but she wanted to help me understand the process which I appreciated. read more

So, my experience with My Eye Doctor has gotten worse over time. In my most recent experience, I went with my wife last month to pick a frame and lens. The rep was polite and helpful. We found a pair we liked, and the rep completed all the paperwork. We asked if the order could be expedited since my wife couldn't wear contacts due to an eye infection, and her old glasses were not the right prescription. The rep said he would put a rush on them, and hopefully we could get them in a week. A week and half went by, and we didn't hear anything from the store. We called, and they said there has been a delay, and that we should expect the glasses in a week. Another week goes by, and no call, no glasses. We call and are told they'll be here in 3 days. After the 3 days, no call again, so we call and talk to the manager. He told us that the glasses failed inspection because they found a scratch on the lens and that they should be here the next day. We asked when he will know for sure, and he said that he'll know by the end of the day, and will call us to confirm. We didn't get that call either. It's been almost 3 weeks and my wife still doesn't have her glasses. The customer experience has been very poor (except for ordering the glasses). We have been using My Eye Doctor for over 5 years, but this will be the last time we go here. read more

They had to send me to the Dulles or Vienna locations to do it. they also recommened contacts for me, charged me $400 and then when I went to the Vienna location, the doctor told me I don't need contacts. I've been going there for a couple of years now....probably since it opened up. I get great customer service and good products. Also, the fact that they want you to go online before your appointment and fill out the medical forms is better for me. At least, I can put out all the info I need and not guess while I am at their store. Everyone in the store is very nice and courteous. I' ve got my parents hooked on them as well. I think between my parents and I we probably bought 6 different pairs of glasses and contacts...which is pretty good in about 3 years. The frames that they offer are pretty nice and not boring. The frames that I am wearing at the moment gets me compliments almost every single days. I love them and will definitely come back for the next ones! read more

Right? Wrong. Most frames there will cost you $130 (just for the frames), while the exam and lenses alone (depending on special needs and many add-on services for your lenses; anti-glare, thinner/lighter lenses, etc.) will cost you about another $200+ After my first selection of frames ($300), I was told my overall payment would be $500+ (Uh. Negative Ghostrider.) We had to change my order *twice* so it was roughly around $200+ (not to mention the $25 for the coupon). Pros: Need to see an eye doctor? Need your vision Rx? Call in advance and they'll take care of you. Cons: - I declined a retinal photo, yet I was still asked about it (three times, I believe). - Like the previous reviewer, I had to request my prescription for my vision/glasses. - Pricing. (Avoid online coupons because they're split "like an allowance" across your purchases and "add-ons".) Overall: Don't go here if you're looking for a bargain. I paid $200+ for a cheap/lackluster pair of glasses - when I could've taken my glasses Rx and shopped elsewhere (or heck, even online) for cheap and trendier frames. read more

I've been coming here for a little over four years and love this place! I'm always taken care of and never had any issues. I have terrible eyesight. My left lens is a toric and is usually very expensive. I actually just got eye coverage this year through my employer and my contacts still came to something like $200 for a one year supply after insurance. So with this being said, you can imagine how happy I was when I called My Eye Doctor a few weeks ago. Lately, I've been having issues with my contacts due to allergies and eye infections or simply my clumsiness of tearing a lens. I've gone through my one year supply in 8 months. I explained this to the guy over the phone at My Eye Doctor and said I would be willing to pay for the extra contacts. He graciously ordered me a 6 month supply with no charge because this is part of their one year supply guarantee. Incredible! I would definitely recommend this place. They do take good care of their patients! In addition, I've purchased my last two pair of eyeglasses here and they have a great selection and awesome staff who will help you with anything you need. read more

I can't recommend this place. We used them for years for exams, contacts and glasses. My last visit, I had an exam and bought new glasses. The exam was rushed and they didn't get my prescription correct. When my glasses came, my vision was worse with the new glasses than with my old ones! There was no wait because I was the first appointment of the day. The reception staff was friendly and quick as was the optometrist. The optometrist was knowledgeable about how other potential medical conditions could affect my eye sight and gave me good advice regarding possible laser-eye surgery in my future. When it came time to purchase new glasses, I found the selection beyond adequate and had no shortage of frames to choose from. In fact, I was there for quite some time as I sent picture after picture via cell to my girlfriend for her opinion. They were patient, I didn't feel rushed, and I feel comfortable in my purchase. I've been coming to this location for the last three years and love it. Grace is an awesome tech, not to mention just a really good person. She does whatever she can to make things work. I stumbled upon them when I was looking for a specific model of Maui Jims, then to find out if they would be able to replace the lenses for a different color. Grace was awesome during this whole process - she was able to order the sunglasses, the extra pair of lenses I was looking for and replaced the lenses for me. Since then I've gone back for my annual eye exams and have always been successful getting in and out in a timely fashion. They're very accomodating. Love them! read more

The doctor at this location helped to diagnose me with a serious medical condition from looking at the optional retinal scan during a routine eye exam. If I had not be diagnosed, I could have lost my vision totally. I cannot express my gratitude towards Dr. Al-Sayyad enough, and I recommend him to everyone. My condition has become much better and he helped me improve my overall health. The office staff used to be a difficult bunch, but during my last visit everyone was personal, professional, and enjoyable to interact with. They did everything I would expect. The only problem I have is their limited glasses selection, but the office is tiny. For the size of the store, the selection is adequate. read more

There were enough negative reviews I wasn't sure about coming here, but they take my insurance and it's only a few hundred feet from our apartment. I was running late, so called 30 minutes before my appointment to let them know. I was told that was fine, come on in. The receptionist guessed who I was upon my arrival and was doing the preliminary tests within 5-10 minutes. I sat back in the waiting room to wait for Dr. Amy Khong, but she was calling for me before I could pull a pair of frames off the wall. Dr. Khong is super friendly and explains everything. The exam was thorough and quick. I then moved on to pick out new frames and didn't wait but a couple minutes for the optician. I don't know her name, but she was also very friendly and helpful. The optician explained my glasses would take longer b/c my insurance company requires the lenses to be made in their lab, but gave me a date and said they'd call when they arrived.
