They have a lot of great books but I wish they can help more when it comes to online tutoring

There isn't much available in Hemet, and this public library is a good resource for child-friendly programming on Wednesdays. I can't speak to any of the other resources as I haven't used them. However, the way the staff treat the people in the library leaves a lot to be desired, hence my 2-star review. Although the publicly posted hours state they close at 6 pm, beginning at 5:30 pm, there is an aggressive push to get everyone out of the library, with constant announcements over the loudspeaker, security guard patrolling the study areas, and the librarians also coming around and reminding everyone to leave by 5:45 pm. At 5:35 pm, I was told that if I didn't leave by 5:45 pm I would be locked in the library with my child overnight. I stated the library closes at 6 pm, and we will be gone well before that time. At 5:55 pm, as we were leaving, the security guard and the librarian came over to tell us we were there past closing. They definitely scared my child into thinking that would happen. Woof. The overbearing staff is a bit much. But if anyone is down for a sleepover in the library, it's me!! read more

This is a pretty great library. The staff is so nice and helpful here. The kids area always has some craft going on. There's a big selection of books to choose from. The bathrooms are clean. You can get your passports here too. They have so many books in Spanish for kids as well. I see no reason to complain and nothing wrong with this place. We love Hemet public library ! read more

Well, I saw a Couple different TikTok that really inspired me to want to go to the library. First of all did you know that you can stream free, movies with your library card that's cool ! There's an app called hoopla & Kanopy That gives you free access as long as you have a library card. Mostly old movies documentaries and audiobooks. Yes please where do I sign ! Which library should I go to? So much confusion with the house being in the Temecula Mountains but the mailbox is 5 miles away in Hemet. I've been to the Temecula library during Covid and it looks fine. I didn't get to go inside, but I'm sure it's beautiful. I figured I would just go there. Till I realize that's it's 13 miles away. The Hemet library is only 7 miles away. I hate wasting money on gas. Hemet. It is. ! To my surprise the library was spectacular. It's been there for 100 years ! The second reason I needed to get to the library was because my best friend and I decided to do the Rory Gilmore Reading list from the TV show Gilmore girls . Each book we finished reading we throw a party to discuss it ! Now, if that doesn't inspire you to read I don't know what does . I think there's 408 books to read , so I need to get started asap ! If there's ever been a time where I can sit down and read a book and just look at the mountainside it's definitely now . The customer service in this library is horrible. There's a guy who picks up the phone when you call but doesn't say anything and just hangs up. So weird. Hemet public library, please don't hire workers there that are not willing to work properly! So unprofessional and disappointing. read more

I am not sure what I expected to see when I thought of a library in Hemet, but it sure wasn't this. This place is spectacular! We came for the special event "Star Gazing Party" last night. They have a nice parking lot and a 24 hour book machine in the front. You can literally go get a book on a late nighter. We entered in to find two stairways one on each side and an elevator in the center. On the right side is a bench with a bronze statue of a boy and a girl reading a book. When I return I will take lots of photos to show you. This place is humongous! We went up in the elevator to see a huge meeting room. We went out on the roof where they had the event set up. There were about 6 people set up with telescopes varying in sizes. They were serving free hot chocolate which was considerate on a nice cold night. We had an amazing time viewing the moon and mars. There would have been many more things to see had it not been a cloudy night. They had a raffle for some pretty cool science things. I will definitely be coming back again to get a card, and to take some awesome pictures of the actual library. read more

I'm so sad that I live in a town where the library is only open 16 hours a week.

I found myself here killing some time while my wife was on business. I got a free library card and got to use the internet and do some work for an hour before the machine shut down. Part of me has a problem with getting booted off the computer then I had to remind myself that it was free, free, free. It looked modern and well-used, kids, grandparents, young families. This place was providing a real service. So if you have down time in Hemet, head to Hemet Library. read more

Lots of material to read and enjoy and FREE wi-fi! Love it. Books and audio/visual material can be checked out for 3 weeks which is average but generous. There is also plenty of parking and it's located right in the center of town. I love that I can log in to my account from home and renew books and have books placed on hold for me. Negatives: Limited hours, sometimes smelly patrons, and some of the staff isn't so friendly. But no place is perfect. Sign up and become a member, shop in their bookstore (great prices on used book), attend their annual HUGE book sale which is held upstairs, and walk in the Literacy Walk in the Fall. What a great library for Hemet. Ever since I've been laid off, I've had some time on my hands. So, I thought I would head over to the library. It's so much bigger than I thought it would be. And centrally located in Downtown. They do have funky hours but doesn't bother me. Ladies there are nice and help you out when you need it. They have plenty of seating, computers to look up books, and computers to use (for an hour). They have a nice children's area. You can return your books outside first and then go inside and you can use the computer to check out. It's great! read more

Hemet WOULD have a library that is closed 3 out of 7 days of the week. It's hard to get any studying done when people are having conversations in their outside voices, next to you. However, if you're bored it's an entertaining place to sit and observe the interesting people of Hemet that come through here. 1 star for free AC in the summer time + 1 star for free wi-fi= 2 stars read more

This is a very convenient library. Just wish they had more hours. Sometimes the staff is not very knowledgeable. (I.e. with the area, with equipment) And it would be VERY helpful if they had scanners either with a computer or on the copier itself. That is a feature I hope they get REAL soon. read more

I've been going to the Hemet Library for a past 5 years. This Library has struggle to maintain good customer service, decent collection, and outreach programs in that time. I've seen them deal with budget cuts, and new technology and well as a few manager shifts. I have to say despite all this the staff has maintain great customer service in nearly everything. The only bad thing about this place, is sigma it might be getting do to the fact that so many homeless people are literary starting to camp out around the place. read more

i love libraries. i have 6 library cards for different counties. i hate hemet, but this library is not so bad. its clean, they actually have a good selection of books and the wait lists are not so long. bad thing is that they are closed 3 days out of the week. read more

They are closed Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. That saddens me for my 4 year old son that is at home daily.

I love the hemet library.too any rules.dont sleep here,dont pee there. this is a public library but don't be surprised. and if you do get arrested, the police intake is just across the street. read more

1t's a big library. +1 staff, pleasant and helpful +2 closed 43 % of the time -1 loud, unkempt, smelly people use it as a meeting spot and hang out! -3 *** attempted to use as a study hall during a real estate coarse, impossible due to distractions and noise level. -2 outside book valet frequently broken. i don't need wi fi or public computers. i just need a "quiet", comfortable, well stocked ,well staffed library that's "open"! read more

Best Library Cruising Ever! Bathroom,Parking Lot,Hidden Aisles. Both Customers and Employees All joining in on the fun. I've been back at least four times ok six but who's counting since my first visit and I have yet to leave disappointed. If this is your scene as well try it I'm sure you'll love it!!! read more

They are hardly open, their late fees are way higher than the county library's fees, the place is dirty, and there are plenty of homeless guys taking up tables. If one wants to use the internet they'll have to wait quite some time and the time is limited. No place to sit. The parking lot is filthy. It's going downhill quickly. read more

Certainly as someone else said, no place/library is perfect, but for me, doing research at the Hemet library, it is most comfortable. There is a heritage room filled with most anything you want to know about Hemet, going way back. There is microfilm of the Hemet Newspaper, going back to the early 1900's. There are 2 or 3 available means to peruse the news on microfilm with a computer attached so you can print some interesting find. I live in Arizona so when I arrive at the library I try to spend all day there and never once have I gotten bumped off the microfilm viewer. I have always been treated with respect. read more

I would recommend coming here if you don't have access to a computer, but just beware there are lots and lots of screaming kids in the library. So I would suggest coming very early before it gets packed! Very nice building and has an abundance of computers. read more

I've been here a few times...its a nice library..excellent customer service too but I've encountered some real perverts and ill mannered people there from a woman just freely and forcefully letting gas rip out of her butt while I was sitting next to her like she meant it totally and insisted that I hear it...by the way it sounded almost like a car back-firing...she just kept sounding off and letting them rip. smh Then on another occasion there was this guy who kept scooting slowly closer to me as he did like a strange rocking notion...I had to get up and move immediately before I gave him a book whop upside his head...I could tell he was some kinda pervert too. My son told me that he encountered him in the restroom and that creep asked him if he could come help him use the bathroom...a thick book upside his head thats what he needed. Ain't been there in a while since that crazy stuff happened. What on earth is wrong with people these days...geeeesh. read more
