Definitely make an appointment if you can. If not, you can walk in and they'll help you set one up--it's actually a pretty easy and fast process. The ladies there aren't very friendly, but they're not rude either--just straight to business. It's more of an in-and-out type of place. Overall, it was okay. Just glad I'm done! read more

Came in to complete paperwork for my husband's disability. It was well organized, clean, all the workers were friendly and helpful, security managed the lines and made sure everyone was in the line they were supposed to be in. Check in was quick and efficient, Brenda has been in touch with my husband through this whole process and conducted our interview. Unfortunately, I was unable to apply for a Medicare number online (an otherwise very easy thing to do) and was instructed to call the main number for Social Security Administration. After a long wait, I was then told I needed to go into my local SS office which is in Hemet. I first called this office directly as I am at a distance, to double-check about the need to come in and to see if there was anything I needed to bring with me. I called and the gentleman at the Hemet office said to come in any time 9AM-4PM with just my ID. I made the 40 minute drive and was initially thrilled to discover that there weren't many people waiting inside. The officer at the door directed me to the check-in window where I waited about 15-20 minutes. So far so good! Right in front of me was an elderly woman wheeling a gigantic oxygen tank and having problems just getting to the window. As she explained her problem, it was obvious that this was not the first time she had come in to that office to deal with it. I felt so sorry for her being told she needed to come back again the next morning because the clerk who could help her wasn't in. My husband was able to get his number online in about 5 minutes, so my turn comes and I'm confident this will be easy. My first issue in general is that the clerk asked for my SSN. As there were many people nearby who could probably hear me, I say it softly. She couldn't hear me clearly through the glass and asked me to repeat. So much for privacy issues... Anyway, I explain why I am there and am told there is only one person in their office who can do this, she isn't in, AND "she doesn't work much"! I'm told I need to make an appointment 2 months out! What?! I tell the clerk that I actually called this very office before coming in and spoke to another clerk who is probably within the sound of my voice right here, and he told me to come in anytime! How could he not know that the ONE person who can help me (I told him exactly what I needed) is not in and only deals with people through appointments? She simply shrugged her shoulders and said they're really busy. Note: as you can see from my pictures, most of the service windows were empty. Hmmm, I think I now understand why the office is nearly empty! Once you finally get up to one of the few manned windows, you're told you need to make an appointment or come back when that one magical person is actually working. The only positive in this review is that there is lots of parking. But this office gets a big ZERO for communication, lack of privacy in having to speak your SSN, and customer service. read more

I did not have an appointment. I waited approximately an hour maybe hour and a half and the lady at the window was one of the nicest women I've ever interacted with and she was very efficient. Click and I was out of there no time so I think the system is great, there were two guards one was very nice firm but cordial the other one acted like a drill, sergeant. Didn't realize they only take reservations starting November 2024. The guards are very informative and helpful. They let us in with NO guarantees we would be seeing maybe in 1-1 1/2 hours! ...Since we got there before they opened, we got right in and out in 15 minutes! They did an excellent job directing everyone & organizing the lines according to the reason for being there. They kept their cool and were respectful at all times, even when people kept interrupting & talking while they were trying to give instructions. The office is extremely prejudiced and exclusive toward dark completed ppl with disabilities, I had a stroke a few years ago and every since it's been hell trying to receive proper services based the implicit bias of the Latino ppl who happen to have positions that impact me based on my ethnicity. After a month wait for a scheduled appointment, arrival (which is getting in a line on right side wall area); you get told to sit and wait. ProTip: the people given a Letter then Numbers (ex: A15) are called the quickest and usually at the windows directly behind the chairs your sitting in the waiting area. I suppose those are the easier items as those people were served and left before most. Wait time for us even with an appointment a month in advance was about 40 minutes. There are no distractions like a TV or anything like that so play with your phone, read a book..or do something to pass the time. Mass of people the whole time we were there; think DMV but less space; not quite standing room only but it did get close at times. When called into the longer process area's in the back; the staff was helpful and you could be back there up to 30-60 minutes depending on your situation read more

I was here on a Friday about 40 minutes from opening. There was plenty of parking. The security guard was nice and funny. He made sure everyone was in the correct line. I was in and out within 15 minutes of entering the building. I only needed my DOB corrected, so maybe that's why I was seen so quickly. I didn't have an appointment either. Ms. Urias was extremely helpful: I had to go in to get a Medi Cal referral and waited three hours. The guy who helped me didn't give the referral form, even after i asked. So, on another day, 11/29, I went to DPSS like he said. They needed the form. I went back to Social Security & waited a couple hrs. Ms. Urias was quick and knew exactly what I needed. My husband passed away at the end of July. SS cancelled his Soc. Sec. which put me in dire straights. I sat on hold for over an hour, only to be told that I needed to go to Hemet and show the original Marriage Certificate. I had to wait 4 hours before they called my number and it took 2 minutes for them to make a copy of my marriage certificate. It was unusally hot and it was so crowded that some people had to wait outside. It was 110F !!!!! read more

I'm new to Social Security services, just retired. I've been 5 times to this location, Devonshire St. in Hemet, and I always get a great service from all personnel and guards. All questions and information I need are handled fast. Now my communication by mail is great and when I have any doubts, I go in personally with no problem. Officer Aragon gives good instructions and, if you pay attention, you know what to do. So far, great people and good service. All agents are well instructed in all services they provide. I take the time to write this review because this office and the employees serving in them deserve to be rated positively. Within a very short time of two weeks we were able to a) obtain all the necessary requirements, b) schedule the appointment, c) visit the office and d) have our documents delivered. The people at the office treated us kindly and with respect. During the three phone conversations they clarified every doubt. The security officer was polite and courteous. The only downside is that the outside of the office smelled poorly, which probably due to people abusing this office. Am overall considering this Covid times where everything is delayed, specially government agencies, Hemet's SS office deserves a good rating for their performance. Keep up the good work!! read more

Very happy with my experience! I applied online for a replacement social security card for a name change. The earliest appointment was over a month out. I took a chance to go in person without an appointment the next morning. I arrived 30 minutes before opening and there was already a line formed. Security was incredibly helpful, informative and organized. They were nice and funny which was a bonus! Shoutout to Raul Aragon :) Check In was quick and I waited for less than 10 minutes. How is it that I go in for a name change, provide my dissolution of marriage document (as well as DL and Passport showing my current/maiden last name) and get told that my dissolution is NOT valid? I submitted the same document for my passport and DL!!!! Then, the representative stated she has seen all kinds of divorce decrees (mine is out of MS). So, even though I've received my dissolution with EVERY other government entity (VA, Passport, DL, and to secure my federal job), it is not valid enough for the SSA?!!! GTFOH!!! Apparently, her "manager" agrees. She even said the Passport office should have NEVER provided me a passport with my dissolution because they aren't as official, and they are always messing up. Ma'am, did you smoke all the crack by yourself?!!! A f***ing joke. I made an appointment just for my time to be wasted. read more
