With that said i met Carlos Castro after another masonry company backed out of the work at my house .I reached out to a friend for a referral and he gave me Carlos's cell phone number and website Once i saw the website i thought no way is this company coming to my house to install an 800 sq feet patio and walkway. His work on his website is very telling about Carlos and his company. His worked is based in the Hamptons mostly. Need i say more. I decided to reach out to Carlos and he showed up at my house on time and dressed in a professional manner. I told him of my thoughts on my walkway and patio and he spoke with me in detail about the work and made me feel very comfortable. I asked Carlos about some ideas I had and we went thru each one. He measured and took his time like this was big job. I was impressed right then. I received a very reasonable quote a few days later in a PDF format in my email. Once i looked t the price i knew i would be using Castro Stoneworks. His prices were on par with the big companies. Carlos told me when he could start the job and its completion. In the mean time he sent me to all County Block to check out the stone color i wanted because Carlos told me its better to see the stone in person .He was right big difference. I settled on Toffee Onyx Lite. The day came for the work and Carlos and his crew were at the house at 7:30 AM. I was greeted by all the workers with a "Good Morning". That was just the start. Carlos walked with me thru the project. He stayed and answered all my questions. One of the best parts of the job was his brother Roy who was the foreman of the crew. He answered my questions s he worked. Roy and his crew installed pop up drains on my walkway that are connected to my gutters so rain would not interfere with the brick. The crew also installed a pipe under my walkway to a small island in front of the house. This is to be used for future lighting or Irrigation. What a great idea. Carlos did all this without extra charge. Carlos was at my house for the five mornings the crew worked on the house. The crew worked from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM for all the days they were at my house. Carlos ordered the brick and the border from All County Block and it was there on time the first day. when the crew was ready for the concrete again it was there on time with no delays. I cant tell you how important that is to me to have work constantly being done and supplies being on time. The job was completed in the five days he said it would be. I could not be happier with the work, the crew and Carlos himself. If you are doing any type of masonry you have to give Castro Stoneworks a call. Carlos and his crew are very experienced in all phases of brick work. Carlos is a very humble person and easy to speak with. He has multiple crews working different jobs so your work will get done sooner than later. His crew and his brother Roy were extremely pleasant to speak with and did a wonderful job for me. I could not ask for anything more.The compliments i have received on the patio and walkway are so positive. One happy customer. Darius is currently renovating my entire rented home. This has got to be the best contractor I have…read moreever worked with. Darius takes his time explaining to me everything he is going to do and when he will do it. He asked us what we wanted and that's what we got. Yes, he had plans drawn up by an architect but came to us to ask about areas we may have wanted to have modified or changed. (Not only is Darius the contractor; he's the new landlord too. He bought the home last year and began renovating it right away.) His crew is 5 stars. These guys really know what they are doing. It's a pleasure just watching them work, they are like a well-oiled machine each one complimenting the others expertise. He put in a stand-up shower with a granite bench along with a separate shower and full-size tub. And of course, he put everything else needed to complete the bathroom. He took down the wall that separated the kitchen and living and turned it into an Open Floor Plan. The kitchen has a granite Island, all stainless steel appliances and a nice deep sink with an excellent faucet. Not to mention the gorgeous cherry wood cabinets and pocket lighting. He added a bedroom and 3 more closets. One bedroom we are using as our office and another as a studio for Trish my girlfriend; she's an award-winning artist (we're in our 15th year, no marriage in the works; we've both been there and done that). We are also using the studio as a music room for me; I'm a pretty good keyboard player. Not only did he do the inside, he added all brand new Anderson windows and vinyl sided the entire house. He redid the parking lot from a great big patch of dirt to a beautiful huge bluestone lot behind the house with, of course, a new driveway to boot. How about 3 patios with a beautiful fence separating two of them that are next to each other. This home also houses two other apartments in it that (could you believe it) he redid as well! We used to have this tiny little cellar. Now it's huge. He and his bulldozer (Bobcat) actually dug a path into my cellar for the Bobcat to come in from and they dug down around two feet and enlarged it by about 300 square feet. The Bobcat actually drove in and out of the basement with loads of dirt digging it out to make the ceiling higher. He put in a laundry room and 3 separate storage rooms; one for each apartment. He converted it from oil to gas and added 3 gas units with 3 hot water heaters. He told us we will never run out of hot water. What else can I say? I'll let the photos do the talking!

His company is one that was recommended by Angi and honestly now I am skeptical of Angi and will never use them again either after this experience. We wanted trek stairs going from the patio to a side door and pavers all around as the patio. Gramarossa are not professionals. The guys they hire seem to be randomly plucked off the street as they have no clue what they were doing. I should have known because when I spoke to Ben he said they did not do trek steps, only masonry. I set an appointment anyway because I figured maybe I can hire someone else to do my trek steps. Yet when he spoke to my husband a few days later (I was at work) he said they do them. It was a disaster from the moment the backyard pavers were laid out. The whole thing was literally slanted sideways by probably 10-15 degrees. In fact the next day the whole thing had to take down and redone. Ben claimed it happened unfortunately because he was not watching his men because he was too busy shopping for our trek materials. The trek steps was done by a man from an entirely different company. It seems they have hired him separately on the side to do it so they can have our business... and it was a SHOTTY job. Ben and his father was watching the man do the work and never said anything about how terrible it was... until we brought it up and they agreed it was not up to their standards. So If we were timid and didn't say anything, they would've definitely let it slide. Whatever. I was just glad they fixed everything without putting up a fight. But here's the thing that really made me angry. His men put their materials and mixed concrete on own brand new asphalt done the year prior, with no protection whatsoever so half of our newly done asphalt was sprinkled with dried concrete. Sadly we did not notice it when we paid because there was still dust and debri all thoughout and it was wet (they attempted to clean) so it was hard to see the stains. That is our fault for not noticing. But I'm annoyed because they knew it happened. I captured the entire thing on my ring camera where they were cleaning and the worker called Ben and his father over to show him the stains that did not come out. They stayed there for a long time trying to clean but it did not come out. No one said a word to us. I contacted Ben via text a week or so later after noticing the huge stains to which he denied it happened and that the stains came out. He said he will come by to power wash it to see if it would come out. We told him we tried. He said he will come by nonetheless but of course never showed up. He said his asphalt guy is not answering and is busy. That was the last of that. So... don't be cheap and hire these guys. I wish I had not.
