We had an A+ experience financing our first home with Mike and Loan Depot. The entire process was online/over the phone and they were able to help us pull off a very short 19 day escrow. Mike LaSalla was recommended to us by our realtor, and we gave him a call early in our house hunting process. We were able to get preapproved immediately and he explained the loan process and options very thoroughly from the beginning. Their initial loan rate was slightly higher than the rate we got from a bank, but there are so many factors and fees that are involved with getting a mortgage, so we quickly decided to go with Loan Depot because of their customer service and help which was way above and beyond what we were receiving from a bank. My wife and I began the home-buying process a couple months ago and we, by far, spent the most time of our prep searching for the right mortgage lender. We contacted numerous lenders and submitted multiple applications to both online lenders and traditional big banks. Fortunately, the Hemry LaSalla Group checked all of those boxes. From a numbers standpoint, Mike was easily the standout from the multitude of loan officers that I received loan estimates from. Mike's loan estimates was easy to understand, transparent, and accurate to the actual final numbers (we encountered lenders who provided numbers that omitted information that would have impacted the final estimate just to make it look better). Mike also does this neat thing where he's able to give you updated estimated numbers specific to the property that you are looking at. From the initial phone conversation, all the way to the close of escrow, we were in constant communication with Glenn and Mike. They were always available to answer any questions we had throughout the entire process, and whenever there was something that needed a little more attention, Glenn or Mike promptly looked into it and got right back to us. Another thing that I have to emphasize is how stress-free the team at Hemry LaSalla made us feel throughout the escrow period. At the end of the day, all of the above means little if we didn't close on time, but that was never in doubt here. We initially contacted Loan Depot (LD) because Mike and Glenn were referred to us by a family member. At the time, we were still shopping for lenders and were working with over 6 of them. While all lenders were offering competitive rates, we ultimately chose LD for the following reasons: 1). Their customer service was excellent. Everyone we spoke to including Mike, Glenn, and Rosa, addressed all of our questions and concerns with professionalism and in a timely manner. Mike always returned our calls within 5-10 minutes of us calling him and responded almost immediately to our text messages. 2). Mike gave us the *most accurate* loan estimate out of all of the lenders. One lender gave us a close estimate but was missing a lot of the pertinent information which would have made a huge difference in the PITI. Another lender completely underestimated his numbers just to make it look good so it made us question whether or not he was trustworthy. 3). Mike was upfront and honest about everything from the get-go. Everything he told us reflected what we saw on the closing statement at the end of escrow. This was important because we didn't want to have a "sticker shock" at the end of closing because our lender just wanted to get us in the door only to screw us over later on. 4). The LD portal had an easy interface to upload documents and check the status of our application. At the end of the day, when all of the lenders offered us competitive rates, we knew we wanted to work with someone who was honest, reliable (can close on time), and offered the best customer service.
