After digging through Yelp/Google, I stumbled upon Meridox Mortgage that had stellar reviews and took a chance. I called Meridox and was put in touch with Trung Tran. I let him know that I didn't have any knowledge of how the house-buying process works, but he was incredibly supportive and assured me he would walk me through every step. Shortly after we finished talking on the phone, he sent me a list of items to provide for the pre-approval letter. Trung's turnaround was quick. I sent him my information in the evening and got the letter the next morning. My real estate agent used this letter to draft the offer...it was accepted! After my offer was accepted, the rest of the process was somewhat nebulous, but my real estate agent worked closely with Trung to help me through. Trung was with me every step of the way. He patiently explained how my monthly mortgage payment and closing costs were calculated and even helped me negotiate a home insurance offer. He even kept a close eye on the market and advised me when I should lock in the rate. I thought home buying would be more stressful, but it wasn't as bad as I thought because Trung made every step clear and was very on top of deadlines. From pre-approval to loan closing, it took just one month! Thank you Trung for being so diligent and patient in helping me secure my dream home! Trung was also very proactive in reaching out to me a few months later when interest rates dropped by about 1%. She understood that I was busy and scheduled multiple showings for me on weekends. She mapped out our route, so we can be efficient with time. She never asked me to consider any property that was outside my price range or not what I was looking for. I was able to knock out many home viewings with her, and we put in a couple of offers. I saw a house that fell out of escrow. I messaged her, and she was immediately on it. She showed me the house, called the seller's agent, and basically convinced the seller to take my offer that was a tad below listing that either that same day or the next. As an investor, I have used a few servicing companies for my private money loans -- FCI, Del Toro…read moreand Note Servicing Center. FCI is, by far, the worst in terms of communication, clerical errors, lender payments, etc. It appears the customer service staff is not knowledgeable and treats investors like borrowers. I got frustrated due to a late payment on one of my loans, and was told there was not a late payment. However, I was informed a week later that the loan due date was modified and payment would be issued on a new due date. Additionally, the statements are are confusing and difficult to read with multiple loans so need to call to clarify which payments belong to which loan. I received a payment that was more than the expected interest and discovered the payment was for 2 separate loans, which caused much confusion. I did request a change in servicing companies via the private lending company who uses FCI. However, the answer was an emphatic 'No', so I am stuck with FCI for all my investments with this private lending company. If you have a choice, try Del Toro or Note Servicing Center.
