The only thing I was dissatisfied with was - when she altered my husband's pants, she did not alter the crotch; she only took in the sides on the pant legs. In fact, I might just bring them back in and see if she will complete that job? Truly, though, I do wish more of the good comments for Hem & Sew would be "recommended" because the one Yelp chose thus far as a "recommended" review is hands down a ridiculous review! How can his review be recommended when he did not even patronized the place? He says he does not want to because they support police officers? Police officers are here to protect us all. It is not a political matter. In fact, that Yelp person makes it into a political matter by boycotting. Give this place a chance. It's really a cool little shop!!

But I was SO offended by how I was treated this morning. Last year, I took a bridesmaids dress to her 1 time, to which she kindly said "I'm not taking formal wear" to which I was assuming due to influx of formal wear due to wedding season. I haven't seen her until this time, which was this morning. This morning, I took 1 plain black polyester dress to her to ask if she could hem the bottom for me. I saw a sign on the door that said no formal dresses. I was under the impression it was not a formal dress due to the material and simplicity, but I'm no expert. When I walked in, she raised her voice to say "Stop bringing formal dresses!" This was in a very rude way, and in front of another customer. I had only taken her ONE formal dress to her the year before, as mentioned. I believe this could have been addressed in a kind manner due to "misunderstanding." But REGARDLESS, I feel like you shouldn't talk to customers like that - or any person for that matter! I refuse to support this business anymore

Agnes' talent for sewing and alterations is shown through her work. I come here every year to get my suit tailored. This year, I had challenging alterations where my travel/carry-on bag was tearing due to wear and tear. Agnes was able to sew a unique triangular strap onto my travel bag. Her adjustment made the travel bag continue its long life. I highly recommend for any alterations or sewing need to come here. Butler's prices are the best in town. My only con is that if you need service during the weekend. You have to wait until Tuesday to get work done. The business is located in what looks like a residential house. Very close to the South Augusta airport. Look for a sign in the yard.

The first time we went to pick up the dress, the train was still too long, which was my fault for not having the correct shoes for the first fitting. Ms. Agnes got to work with the pins and the dress was ready for pick up two days later!!! And at no additional fee for my mistake! We will use Butler Alterations for all of our tailoring needs.
