After the partial work that was performed, we obtained a third-party assessment from a licensed professional. The report documented serious installation issues, including air leakage from visible gaps, missing window locks, lack of insulation, and a window that does not meet building code requirements for safety glazing. We have also been unable to verify that Jay or Metro Detroit Window holds a valid residential builder's license for this type of work. Given the scope of the project, this raises significant concerns. Due to the condition of the work, the length of delay, and the unresolved issues, this matter is currently the subject of a pending court case. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend that anyone considering this company thoroughly verify licensing, qualifications, and past work before proceeding. Otherwise YOU will be taken! Just recently due to age and daily use, it started leaking around the bottom exterior hinge area and around areas that are caulked, such as the bottom of the door frame. I stopped in to ask a few questions on how to go about fixing the leaks and they showed me what to do and how. It was a simple fix of using clear caulk and they showed me where exactly to apply it to stop the water from seeping through. I also bought some new plastic stripping for underneath the door because ours had gotten too old. With their advice and suggestions, we are leak free once again and thankful for their knowledge on how to fix it. They do make service calls as well, which is nice to know for future reference. I like the fact that the same two gentlemen that helped us with the purchase and installation 13 years ago are both still working there. It's a well run, professional place to go and they are on my recommendation list for anyone looking to do some updating in their current home or are looking for something nice for a new home.
