We had such a great experience with Hendricks Creek Resort. Our family traveled to Dale Hollow Lake for the Fourth of July. This was a last minute so we had no boat lined up to rent. Obviously with it being such a big holiday we were having a hard time finding an available boat as well as it being an affordable price. Our Airbnb happened to be near this resort and boy were we lucky! We gave them a call and were greeted by Cathy over the phone. She was so so so sweet! It was such a joy speaking with her. She made the reservation process super easy and it was very personable, not rehearsed. We were able to get a double decker pontoon with a slide at a decent price super last minute/same day! Not only that but we were able to use my partners Military discount! They walked us through the process over the phone and asked us to come in for the last bit. We arrived to friendly faces and inviting attitudes. All of the staff were very easy to talk to. It was like chatting with family or friends. We arrived a bit later than scheduled but they were understanding and extended our reservation by one hour so that we could still take full advantage of our day. The boat was very clean and welcoming. It was also very easy to navigate and operate. We had such a great day. So much so that I don't think I saw our teenager pick up his phone one time while out on the water lol. We will absolutely be using this marina again! I don't think we will use anywhere else after this weekend actually. We are already planning to come back next month with all three children and renting a houseboat for the weekend! Let's start with the fact that I talked to Patty a few days before we made the almost 3 hour trip to Hendricks Creek resort, she told me she would try and get us on the boat by 3:30. When we get there, she is not only stone cold to us, wouldn't even let us register before 4. We had to sit outside in 95 degree weather for 2 hours only to find out that the air conditioner on the boat was not working. They didn't offer us any other option, they put in a temporary AC unit, which was worthless and dangerous - it condensated all over the electrical cord, used all the gas in the generator, which the gage stayed on full, resulting in us running out of gas. The next morning after spending a miserable night sweltering in the heat, the run a bout that we rented didn't start, we had to wait for them to send someone out to fix, the cold water in the shower stopped working - all you could get was hot water on an already horrible hot houseboat. - We were ready to come home on day 2 of our 4 day vacation that we planned for months, saved and took time off from our jobs. I have to say, one of the worst experiences of our life. We talked to Kyle and he was fully aware of the situation and he said he wanted to make it right. My father in law said he could refund at least some of the money, needless to say, the check was cashed and no refund given. This is the absolute worst marina on this otherwise beautiful lake, the boats, cabins, runabouts and even the store are all in horrible shape, several years outdated and should all be replaced or demolished. Please don't waste your time and money, all other marinas are so much better, the people are nicer. Patty should not be the face of any business, she will be the reason it goes out of business. read more

Did not take full advantage of all they had to offer but rented a pontoon boat here. Wasn't looking for anything fancy - just something comfortable to take out on the lake for the day. Best prices around. Not crowded and easy parking compared to other marinas in the area. Helpful with a cart to transport items from the car to the boat. Ox provided excellent customer service as well cashier's inside the store and all other employees we encountered. Highly recommend and can't wait for our next trip to Dale Hollow Lake and Hendricks Creek Resort. read more

Nice to still see marina ran with an attitude that they do honestly care. One of the young guys who works there was working on a houseboat near where we were going to dock at ran out to grab ours lines to tie the boat off. Even though we wasn't staying there was willing to let us leave our boat tied overnight for a small fee which I was more than happy to pay rather than load a 26'cabin cruiser and unload it evey day. But I had been overlooking this place. Definitely great people read more

We were a group of 16 guys, aged 20-62, who rented 2 houseboats the weekend of Aug 8-11. We have been coming to Dale Hollow for several years and this was the best experience we've had! We rented 2 Plan 90s. Both were in good condition and everything worked. The kitchen was very well equipped. AC worked great as well as the boats and engines. The folks at Hendricks Creek were very thorough and efficient. They were ready for us when we arrived and though our group can be like herding cats, they got us taken care of and on the water in short order. My only complaint is, the boats were not equipped with VHF marine radios. We couldn't talk boat to boat and I'm not sure what we'd have done in case of an emergency. Cell service is pretty good out in the middle of the lake but poor to non-existent back in some of the coves. Not a huge deal but radios would have been nice to have. We will definitely come back again! read more

We just spent a few days on this resort. I have been around many boatdocks, but I was very impressed by the clean conditions of their docks. We rented one of their houseboats which was super clean. The staff was just awesome! The run a summer staff of about 45 employees, and everyone of them will help anyway they can. Only 1 1/2 hours northeast of Nashville. Somewhat improved in the past year.Boats slightly better maintained. Dock slightly better staffed. The Dreamliner had peeling paint outside, wrinkled carpeting inside, a very dirty ceiling fan on deck, wonky gas grill, bent up patio screen doors that were fairly useless. Very disappointed with my experience at this establishment. Rented the largest houseboat and everything said the boat would be ours by 2:00 p.m. Not even close. Sat out in the sweltering heat on the dock (with boards sticking up everywhere ready to trip people) for over 3 hours waiting for it. They had excuses every time we asked. "It's almost ready...just power washing it , just cleaning the grill, blah blah blah." One of the excuses was they were working on the Direct TV...which didn't even work when we were on the boat. There were two large groups waiting for these houseboats all afternoon (one of which had an overheated toddler who was over it as well). When we finally got the boat, no one gave instructions for anything except how to tie a knot in the rope and to spray the ropes with ant spray (Huh? Don't think that's how the ants got there...the place is just gross). No one even did the sign-in checklist (it was left on a table). Luckily we rent houseboats every year and didn't need any instructions. First time renters would be very unprepared to be released onto the water. We were missing chaise lounge chairs on the upper deck, so all we had were plastic chairs to lay in the sun or read a book. The table on the top deck was broken. The grill was literally lopsided, so thank goodness we weren't grilling hotdogs because they would have rolled right off. When we returned the boat we asked for some type of compensation for the long wait on the first day. We lost an entire day out on the lake. The owner was adamant that it wasn't her problem. Apparently the contract says in fine print that boats go out no later than 6. This should be stated everywhere else - the website, the board AT THE MARINA, etc. Advertising a 2:00 time to access boats is misleading. When we told her our concerns she felt "bullied" and gave us back like $130 (out of an over $3,000 bill). Wow. Overwhelming. Particularly disturbing was that there was no radio on the boat. Cell service was spotty at best since we were on the lake, so I guess if we had an emergency or needed help we were out of luck. I have never been on a houseboat without a radio to call in to the marina. The dock was dirty with dilapidated houseboats and pontoons everywhere. Looked like a dump. Before any of this happened I had told my friend that I was already scared of what we were getting based on the first impression. Should have followed my gut. When we first got there the owner, Patty, said they were all about customer service. Patty lied. Will never go back to this place. Beware. read more

Reserved a pontoon and was told we could pick up at 9am on Wednesday. Showed up at 9 am and boat was not ready. Told us we had to take a smaller one. Get to the dock and the guy tells us he hasn't had a chance to clean up the second pontoon. Told him to not worry about it since we were burning daylight. Finally hit the water by 10:15 am. Very disorganized outfit. Update... reached out to manager and got no response. Tried out Barren River Lake and it is much nicer with better boats. read more

Would not rent from Hendricks again. Sent us on boat that sleeps 12 people. Could smell urine and feces for the entire trip. Found they had known about the problem ahead of time. Absolutely do not rent from them. read more

We just spent a weekend on a Houseboat for 12. We chose this venue because they advertise handicap accessible. It did not have a shower or a bathroom that a wheelchair would fit in. Nor did they have a ramp that we could access the boat by wheelchair. The handicapped person had to sleep on the sofa bed. Which would have been okay but the mattress was so worn out that we had to move a bed mattress on it to sleep. When moving the bed mattress we noticed mold and mildew. The two lounges were broke upstairs so no laying and relaxing. This boat is in much need of repair and definitely needs an extensive cleaning from top to bottom. The icing on the cake was the bathrooms. Fan did not work, toilet paper could not be put in toilet. It was HORRIBLE. The Lake is beautiful though. read more

I went with a party of 11 for a 3 night stay on a six-room houseboat. Had a blast! I see the only thing associated with this resort are some pictures of bedbugs-yikes! Luckily I can't say our group encountered anything more than some gnats outside. The boat was certainly older and had its quirks- this is more akin to camping than a 4 star hotel, I would say- but our room seemed quite clean. Kitchen was in great shape and everything on the boat worked as advertised. Had some trouble with the toilets but that can definitely be attributed to our drunk party not respecting the rules about toilet paper. I was quite impressed with the customer service; as soon as you show up there are several fine gentlemen ready to move your luggage for you. Everything we requested was taken care of and we were even able to bring our boat back late for no extra charge. One of the members in our party brought a fishing boat and the marina sent out workers on two different occasions to do some very reasonably priced work. Admirable as we were high and dry and they could have fleeced us for the mechanical parts. The dock itself had a great party atmosphere and we had a blast spending a night hooked up there. There are cabins, apparently, and plenty of other boat goers to mingle with. The lake itself is incredible and we had a great time tooling around in our party barge. Our group was at times noisy and obnoxious in our own little cove and we didn't feel over-policed. All in all I had a great time and I will definitely be going back. First, Dale Hollow Lake is a beautiful location great for family trips. Second, the staff is super friendly-they are the only reason for the 1 star. Third, our boat was in disrepair and broke down halfway through our trip in 90+ degree heat. We tried to radio for help but the staff had turned off the radio "because it was making too much noise". The boat started up (with no air conditioning) and we made it back to the dock. The owner was very abrupt and refused to offer a refund so we paid for 4 days and only received 2. We just returned from a 4 night stay in the family cottage at Hendricks. We were surprised to find that bath towels, washcloths, kitchen towels, rags, dish soap, trash bags - were not included. When we questioned this at the office, we were told they could rent us towels ($5 per towel), kitchen kits, etc. For $160+ per night I would absolutely expect these things to be included with my stay. The cabin was very run down, the shower head just had water pouring out of it like a water hose, the shower did not drain well - I was ankle deep in water while showering. At check in, we got a bag of remotes, then we're told that the satellite didn't work. Not sure why we got the remotes? The office said there was wifi, but there was not. Zero AT&T phone signal. We attempted to get fuel at the dock multiple times, but the fuel area was blocked by houseboats. This should be more like a $75/night rental in my opinion. You can definitely find a better value for your money. We will not be back. read more

The worst marina on Dale Hollow. We rented a Plan 90 houseboat and staff told us check in was 2:00 pm. We arrived at the appointed time and the boat was not ready. Staff kept telling us 20 minutes, it will be ready. Took a walk down the dock and no one was working on the boat and their employees were sitting around smoking and doing nothing. Waited on the dock for 3 1/2 hours in 100 degree heat before the boat was finally ready. The boat was outdated, dirty, and not equipped as advertised on the website. No lounge chairs, table on the top deck was broken and unusable, Direct TV did not work, which is one the excuses they gave for our delayed departure. The gas gauge did not work on the boat, and am certain we did not have a full tank upon departure, but charged a huge amount on return of the boat. Staff did not provide any walkthrough or instruction on boat operations, except we should spray the tie off ropes to keep ants from walking down them, through the water, and onto the boat. I'm no Entomologist, but that's not how it works, your boats aren't clean and infested with ants. Save your money and time and look for a different marina. Patty said she "prides herself on customer service" but they offered only excuses and arguments when asked about their boats not living up to the advertisement. read more

I drove down 8 hours from Milwaukee and meet up with family from Ohio. We rented one of the 6 bedroom houseboats and a pontoon for fishing. On our last scheduled night we decided to ask about renting both boats for an extra day. Hendricks had our boat already booked but went out of their way to quickly service and substitute another boat for the other customer. The staff was helpful, friendly, and efficient. My family and I planned a 3 day mini vacation on a houseboat. At first the trip seemed to start off very well. The staff was very nice and helpful. But after our generator stopped working in the middle of the first night in 90+ degree weather, it all went to hell!!! We went back to the dock early the next morning and they began working on the generator while we sat on the boat with NO A/C. We were told several hours later that they had no other boats to put us on and that they were trying to find another marina with an available boat. Almost 24 hours later we requested our money back and found our own accommodations at a new dock. We gave them every opportunity to make it right. It didn't happen. I felt sorry for a few of the employees who were caught in the middle and got yelled at in front of us. I would not recommend HCR to anyone wanting a relaxing worry free vacation. read more

Showed up on Sunday with group of 8. Told we could pick up boat at 9am. Boat was not ready and was not the boat I was quoted on the phone. Very old, motor was tricky and way under horse power(50). Was told by phone that boat held 12. Thankfully we had a couple that decided not to come. Seats were all wet, boat was dirty and even had a black snake slither out from the console when we were out on the water. People were very friendly but even the dock hands told us there were better options on this lake. For the same money we got clean and better powered boats on Norris lake. Would not recommend this facility unless you just needed friendly people. All of their equipment except for fishing boats were very old. read more

I spent a week on one of the big 6-stateroom houseboats early in May. Fur days out we had some engine problems. One of us had a Verizon cell phone so we called the marina. They promptly sent out a boat to get us going again. Since they could not fix the motor with what they brought, they towed us back to the marina where we spent about 4 hours while they tried to complete the repair. They were unable to get the needed lower unit for the motor until the next morning. We had a short tow to a spot for the night with the promise that the engine would be fixed the next morning. For compensation we got the use of a 28 foot pontoon boat for a day of deluxe cruising, a bunch of ice and bait, and an extra day on our houseboat - of which we could only take half a day due to commitments. Our houseboat was repaired while we were out sightseeing with the pontoon. They did their best to minimize our inconvenience. Everyone we encountered from Hendricks Creek or at the dock was extremely polite and helpful. I was impressed with how they dealt with our outboard problem. I will rent a boat with them again. I gave a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star because they did not have a ship-to-shore on our boat which would have been worse if none of us had Verizon cell service. I also down graded them for toilets which do not accept toilet paper and hope they either offer biodegradable toilet paper or more robust plumbing in the future. read more

We stayed in September just after peak season rates in a family cottage and brought our own fishing boat. I was worried about bedbugs due to another review and communicated with resort and felt comfortable with their assurance. There were NO bedbugs. Cottage was clean and well stocked with Corellle dishes and Pyrex baking pans. You do need to bring dish and bath towels and soaps. It's an older resort with some lumpy couches, but it was clean and served us well. Up charge to use credit cards. Nice staff. read more

I have been a loyal customer at this marina for more than 10 years. I have two boats moored there. If you are planning to rent a boat from them, you can't beat the customer service. If you are planning on mooring a boat with them, customer service does not exist. I have never been treated worse as a customer by any business in my life. The managers have cursed me on several occasions. Needless to say. I am no longer a customer. I am not alone in this opinion, as stated earlier, if you are looking to rent for a week from them it's the place to go but if you are looking for a long-term lease to dock your boat, don't even consider it. read more
