We are a group of 50 + we have been staying in these cabins for the last 3 years. The staff here seems to be doing the best they can. I hate to post this because we really enjoy this rare place. We stayed in the Bigfoot Chalet and rented a double decker pontoon for a bachelorette weekend and it was a total blast! Cabin was clean and so beautiful. The view was amazing. Plenty of space for a large group of friends or a larger family. The boat was also wonderful. Loved having the upper platform with the slide. read more

Really young staff doing their best. However we rented the double decker with a slide and inter tube . Once we saw what we rented for our family reunion it was a complete let down. Looks like it was built in 1975 with zero amenities like the newer ones. No radio, no chargers and only one bench seat in shade. The anchor was on a 5 ft rope that's it. Though I asked for the tube they forgot it and made it seem like they were doing us favors by giving us a couple sport vests . Rest of vests were old from the titanic style. Engine was a 90 hp go cart engine. The tube wasn't big enough for him and his pre teen daughter . We made the best of it but the cost was just as much as the modern ones elsewhere which really sucked! We tipped our deck hand good as he was amazing. We made the best of it but make no mistake....Time to upgrade . read more

I stayed at the Eagle Cove Resort for a weekend with 12 other ladies for a "Glamping" weekend. While I'd love to share with you all the fun we had, this review is for the location, not the event. The cabins are nice and well-kept. There was no visible signs of wear, and everything was in good condition. I slept on an air mattress, so I can't speak for the beds, but I would suggest bringing your own pillow, because the pillows are more like little bags of fluff. As a group, we reserved 2 of the Littlefoot cabins. I heard mention among the group that we could have gotten a chalet to fit all of us for around the same price, but we would have had to speak to a manager, however the office was closed when we arrived. It would have been nice if this had been offered to us so that we didn't have to split up our group. Also, we got a deal through one of the online coupon/discount sites which made the price much more reasonable. I don't think I would feel like I had gotten a good deal for the full price amount. There's not much to do in the area. We drove 30 minutes to tour a winery, and another 30 minutes to visit a Mennonite village. If you're looking for a complete get away, then Eagle Cove is the place for you. It's out in the middle of nowhere and has a beautiful view of the lake. read more

We stayed near Eagle Cove (about 1 minute away. We rented a tritoon from Eagle Cove and spent the day fishing and swimming. It was the perfect day. It was ready and the boat was in good condition. The staff at Eagle Cove were friendly and professional. They answered many questions we had about the area. We took the boat over the old town of Willow Grove that was evacuated when they put in Dale Hollow Lake. My dad grew up in that area, and we were trying to find the area where he lived. I stayed in a cabin in Eagle Cove a few years ago with friends and the cabins were great. Whether you are renting a boat or kayak or staying there, it is a good place to use. They are a smaller marina with no restaurant, but a nice small store. It has a great view and it is easy to boat out into the main lake. It has a small dock and ramp near the parking lot, so it was easy for my dad to walk down to get on the boat. The location is definitely away from it all! read more

We (10 people) rented the 75 foot Bigfoot Houseboat the week of 18 June 2017. The boat itself was well stocked with kitchen wares (microwave, toaster, coffee pot, plates, glasses, pots, pans, etc..) There was more than sufficient room for the group of 10 I was with. Houseboat was easy to maneuver (140hp Mercruiser I/O) and moor at night. Water slide was fun. All Marina Staff personnel were very friendly and courteous. Pros: -Gas grill was a great accessory, we used it often. -Fresh water (from a freshwater holding tank) is provided at each sink via a small tap. We used this very sparingly. -Water from the lake is filtered for use in all other aspects (showers, bathroom sinks, dish washing) -Two heads (bathrooms) each with its own holding tank. (we were pumped out once during our 5 days) -5 staterooms (bedrooms) with queen beds. (Take ear plugs...block out the snoring of other staterooms) -Generator provide electricity for everything we needed (hot water, coffee pot, A/C, etc...) Cons: -The electric can opener was far beyond its useful life. A manual opener was not available and should be brought with you. -The oven was not trustworthy, and worked best as a warming station. -Helm controls were shorted and caused stressful events throughout the entire underway period. (Eagle Cove Marina accepted responsibility for this malfunction and compensated us for the inconvenience) -Due to use the sewage holding tanks emitted a strong sewage smell. (would recommend using RV holding tank deodorizer frequently) Unsolicited advice: Listen closely to the person giving the brief on houseboat orientation, they give a massive amount of information out in a very short period of time. read more

Where to start. We rented a one of Eagle Coves larger cabins (on May 18th) to accommodate our 12 guest. We arrived and unpacked and walked around the cabin. On opening the Hot Tub we noticed that it was scummy and not clean and as we set the cap back down we noticed there was a used condom laying on the deck beside the hot tub (pictured below). This was very disgusting but far from the worst thing to happen on the trip. We spent the rest of the night outside on the deck and in the parking lot playing games. In the morning we took the trash out and did all of the required things that were asked of us. We even went as far to pick up cigarette butts away from around our cabin to leave it as nice or better than it was when we arrived. We checked out and here is where the theft happens. 10 days later (the day after Memorial day): I noticed a charge on my card for $350. I thought there had been some kind of mistake. I called and informed the staff of who I was and was immediately yelled at with bad language saying that we had broken a couch. We were never in the cabin and no one in the party even sat on the couch in question. I told the staff this and she laughed at me and said she should have charged me more. The lady said that they had to remove the couch after we left. I asked if she had try to contact me and she said that she called and sent a letter. (Today it is June 19th, a full month since, I still do not have a letter from anyone at Eagle Cove and have pulled my call history from Verizon and there is no record from anyone calling me from the Byrdstown area. I still have the records if there are any questions - I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED THAT MY CARD WAS GOING TO BE CHARGED) Totally crushed by the conversation I spent the rest of the day calling and asking everyone in the party. Everyone confirmed that there was no one ever on the couch and I have written statements from over half of them (I was going to pursue in court but decided against it). My mother was in the area and dropped by the resort and started asking questions. She ran into the head of the cleaning department. She asked if she had noticed anything after we left. (We have the conversation recorded and saved if there are any questions). She said that they did not remove the couch until after Memorial Day 10 days after we left. To make a long story short NEVER VISIT THIS PLACE! They are unprofessional, lieing thief's. I had to cancel my card and change all of my bills not to mention dealing with going through all of my friends and getting statements for something we did not do. I am reporting them to the BBB and everyone else so they can not do the same thing to someone else (and so is everyone that was in our party). The staff (lady I spoke with) there should be fired. Everyone in our party is in our mid 30's and business owners, engineers and teachers. We are respectable upstanding people. We will continue to tell everyone we come in contact with about this TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE! read more

Dog friendly!!! We have stayed here a couple times, each time in the little foot cabins. They are very clean and well maintained. The TVs are from about 1987 and are the size of a lunch box but at least they have dish. There is no wifi in the cabins but it is one of the few places in the area were you can get 3G reception (verizon). The boats are ridiculously expensive to rent but you can sometimes talk them down. A ski boat ran us about half price of the $320 per day that was posted on their website. There isn't much to do in the area besides fish/boat or go to antique stores. The Dixie Cafe has live music on Fri/Sat but you have to show up already boozie since the whole area is dry. If you are okay to hang with locals then just grap yourself a six pack and get yourself a parking spot behind the shell gas station. You will know where to go if you look for the crowd of pickup trucks and daisy dukes. read more

Spent four days in the Bigfoot Chalet as part of a two family long weekend getaway. The cabin is huge, very pretty, but a little dated. It has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms so there is plenty of room for at least 10 people. The lake is beautiful and you are just a few steps away from the slips provided for the boat you bring. The primary reason I wanted to post a review was to comment on the folks that manage the chalet and cabin rentals. We had left several items in the cabin and when we got home called the staff and asked them to check the cabin. They did check, found the items, and mailed them to us at their cost. They didn't even want to charge us for the cost of mailing the package, which when we received it showed it cost over $25 to mail the box full of our stuff. Who does that these days? Seek safe harbor somewhere else!! No Way! Will Eagles Cove get any more of my hard earned money!! We love this lake, it is beautiful and clean, can't say the same for the cabins or pontoon boats. I am in an industry that makes me very conscious of bed bugs and when sleeping in a hotel, or any kind of resort I thoroughly inspect for any presence. I rented a Big Foot cabin and a pontoon boat for twelve. Upon arrival I immediately disassembled the beds and started my inspection. Fortunately there was no bed bugs but the mattresses were all covered with mattress covers, (that usually indicates a previous bug problem), they had obviously been there for many years. They were matted up similar to the hair on a dirty dog that hasn't seen a bath in years, not to mention the unidentifiable stains on several of them. The carpet was filthy, with stains, there was what seemed to be a soda on the wall above the entrance to the kitchen. The decor is very outdated, several lights were out or just didn't work. At the premium price we paid per night (roughly 600) it was totally a disappointment. I will give the cleaning staff a thumbs up, the surface cleaning was good, even though we found left over food items in the cabinets from previous poor soul that rented it. We rented a double decker pontoon boat, when I took possession of the boat with one of the workers, as he showed me the controls, he was like - here is the horn, pushed the button, and stated " oh it don't work too good", this is the tilt and trim for motor, pushed the up button and stated " it don't work either". Really!! This rental was not cheap and they willfully sent us out on this boat and said, ("here is free map of the lake, it is an old map but still good. We have put the phone number for the marina on it, call us if you have any problems.") The motor slipped in and out of gear the whole time, and was infested with spiders . I reported it upon return and worker said ok, I'll tell the mechanic, in a non caring way. The walkway to the curtesy dock had a piece of a 1/2 inch plywood that was very flimsy and had screws sticking out of it, had several rotten boards that would allow a small child's foot to go through. Very clear that very little maintenance or any attempt to improve has been done. The management at this place is at best, worse than poor, it is clear they are there for every dime they can get, and do not care about guest that visit, or maintaining the property. This family vacation cost me close to 1,000 dollars a day between cabin and boat. Won't be a fool again! I don't mind paying money for a nice vacation, but, this is not it! It would be my suggestion that if anyone is looking for a nice vacation on a lake to avoid Eagles Cove Marina on Dale Hallow Lake. There are several other marinas on the lake. Next year when I reserve a houseboat for the 4th, I will not be visiting this marina! read more

I was in the cabin which William Overstreet commented. I am blown away of how horrible the staff has acted. We showed up for a good get away weekend and ended up having a terrible experience at this resort. The place seemed nice until you noticed used condoms beside the hot tube which we have pictures. The downstairs door would shut but would not lock. We did not spend hardly anytime inside of the cabin and cleaned everything above and beyond what was expected. All of the guest are adults and hold high positions in our community. After memorial day weekend william was charged over 300 dollars for a broken couch that was definitely not broken when we left the cabin. William actually asked if I have to pay I want the couch. He was told that the couch had been removed any torn apart. I am beside myself of the level of ridiculousness in this. I am only stating this to try and help anyone who wants to get away for the weekend.. have yourself the headache and money. Find a different resort read more

This was not the enjoyable weekend we had planned.. I was with William Overstreet on the weekend of May 18th to enjoy a fun-filled weekend with our friends. We had our cabin for one night (which we spent almost the entirety of outside on the balcony playing games and enjoying company) only to have William charged $350 for a couch that was never used. The people in charge of the cabins claim we broke a couch in the main living space and charged William 10 days after our stay. The charges occurred without notification and the staff was outrageously rude when asked about them. The lady in the office said the couch had to be removed after we left but we have recorded statements from the cleaning staff confirming the couch was not removed until after Memorial Day. The language and approach taken by this business is extremely unprofessional and makes it clear that this is not the place you want to spend your money. We took extra steps in cleaning the morning we checked out and were treated as if we were hell raising frat boys. Our entire group is in our 30s and are all hard working individuals with respectable jobs in our community. We were blatantly robbed after our visit and I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. If you value your money their are hundreds of other establishments with better rates, cleaner facilities (we found a used condom laying beside the hot tub), and a friendlier staff (that will not swear at you and remove money from your account without prior notification). I am appalled at the happenings from our stay here and encourage everyone thinking of using this place to look elsewhere. read more

The location is fantastic. The property changed hands this summer, but instead of improving the cabins, which is sorely needed, they are letting this beautiful property disintegrate. The houseboats are old and smelly, but we rented a two-tier pontoon, which was fine. Go to a different marina for a houseboat. You pay top dollar ($300 a night) for a small two-bedroom cabin with kitchen. The utensils they stock are very adequate, pots and pans, coffeemaker, cutting board... etc. all good. and the cleaning staff does an excellent job, ... but the place is falling apart. We requested a replacement can opener and got another that didn't work either. I don't know why they bother, they provide a hand opener in the drawer. The clock on the wall was set to 5:00 and didn't work. We tried fresh batteries which didn't solve the problem. The outdoor trash can from the previous tenants was left full for three days and stank to high heaven even after I spoke to the office staff about it. It took them all day to get to it, so I asked a maintenance worker if he could get to it when he had a moment. We had a family get-together in another one of the large cabins, and they reported the can opener didn't work, and amazingly the clock was set at 5:00 and didn't work. So silly... We figured our whole trip that it was 5;00 SOMEWHERE, so we had a good time. That cabin's roof leaked all over the kitchen counters, stove and floor... quite a bit of water. The maintenance guy did a good job replacing the three shingles that were missing. The larger cabins are very pretty, but the air conditioning didn't work adequately for the high ceilings, and those family members were uncomfortable. They didn't even get an apology, but a thanks for telling us. We had a well mannered dog, and they charge $25 per night, which isn't outrageous, but when I paid for that at the end of the trip, they tacked on tax! The owner at the computer desk had her back to me the whole time I checked out and only nodded no when I asked them to remove the taxes from the charge. Rude. All in all, we had a good time though because of the company we kept... but for the money, the place isn't up to par. read more
