What a great local tavern right in Bayshore (Brighwaters). Met friends by the bar for drinks and then go s table and had the most delicious dinner ! Started off with the Tuna Tar Tar app which was delicious then shared a strip steak with my girlfriend it came with garlic Mashed potatoes, the potatoes would probably the best garlic mashed potatoes I've ever had no joke. Henley's Village Tavern was fantastic. It is crowded and noisy but the service is excellent and the food is great. I started with the Potato Soup. It was creamy but lite. Had bits of bacon in it. The cheeses in the soup were excellent and high quality. Very stringy! The steak sandwich was excellent. The seasoning was very tasty. The white sauce on it was mild but excellent. Even though they were crowded the service was attentive and very friendly. Had Modelo beer on tap. Which was very fresh and crisp. The deserts were excellent. Great neighborhood restaurant with an amazing Monday night burger special. I wish they let me swap out the wine for a Diet Coke but they wouldn't. Didn't take away from my five star review. Delicious burger cooked perfectly medium rare, excellent fries, great service and nice ambience. Hits all the points for a great review. Not perfect but excellent. I hope Henley's reads my review and reconsider its weird rule about declining wine for a soft drink. Financially makes no sense as I assume it costs more for a glass of wine than a soft drink. All the bartenders are very friendly and make fantastic drinks. They switch their menu up pretty often and the food specials are always good. Came here Thursday night and had the cheeseburger egg rolls and beet salad both were delish! John was behind the bar and slammed but managed to handle everyone with ease. I live in Brightwaters, and Henley's has been our go-to local restaurant since the old JTI closed. While it's called a tavern, the kitchen turns out the best "pub grub" you're likely to find anywhere with great burgers, sandwiches and specials that never disappoint. Most recently we reserved a table for 11 early on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday, and the food and service were exemplary. For selfish reasons I'm actually hoping not too many people outside the neighborhood discover this place since it only accommodates about 12 tables + the bar, but it's just too good not to leave a 5-star review. read more

Another great visit to Henley's last night. It truly is a local gem. No matter when we visit, or how busy the restaurant is, we are always warmly welcomed and made to feel special. Henley's is a gem! My friend and I dined there last night and I was pleasantly surprised with the very cool, relaxed atmosphere. We have dined at Henley's several times in the past but had not been there recently. When we dine out, we're always looking for that restaurant that could be our "go to place". There are lots of places out there with good food but no ambiance, or nice ambiance but mediocre food. Henley's Village Tavern hits it all!!! Great food, excellent service and really nice ambiance. My wife and I visited on Sunday, July 14th for dinner. We had a 7 pm reservation but arrived a bit early to have a drink at the bar before sitting for dinner. The hostess greeted us warmly when we arrived and told us to take our time at the bar. We sat at the end of the bar and met John, the bartender. He was equally welcoming and did an excellent job customizing my wife's margarita, and recommending one of the local tap beers (a Sand City IPA) to me. Both drinks were outstanding. There were a few other folks at the bar and you could tell that John (and the other staff member behind the bar) were just as attentive and welcoming to them. After finishing our drinks, we moved to our table (a cozy window seat) where our server Megs introduced herself to us. She brought us another round of drinks and took our appetizer order l(the summer vegetable flatbread). After the appetizer was served (the presentation was perfect and the taste even better), Meg took our dinner orders. My wife ordered the codfish special on garlic greens and I ordered the short rib entree. Both were beautifully plated and tasted delicious! We typically don't order dessert but we decided to share the carrot cake which was amazing. I had a chance to peek into the kitchen on the way to the restroom. One would expect an expansive kitchen for the breadth and quality of food that the chef and their team prepare. On the contrary, the kitchen is small but clearly run like a well oiled machine! We had a chance to meet Danny, one of the owners. It's clear he likes what he does and has a passion for keeping his guests and staff satisfied. (The staff we met all seemed to enjoy what they are doing and sang the praises of the restaurant). We are celebrating our wedding anniversary this week and had originally booked a reservation at another restaurant (also a really fine dining experience). However, after our visit to Henley's Village Tavern last weekend, we canceled our original reservation and booked a reservation at Henley's To the entire team at Henley's, job well done! Tacos were tasty but lost a star because there are only two in an order, and at $19, felt that $9.50 a taco was excessive. Ingredients were fresh! Great flavor. We've eaten takeout from Henley's twice now during quarantine and it has been phenomenal both times. I did curb side pick up and the employee was kind enough to put it right in my passenger side when I drove up. Couldn't have gone any smoother. I love how the food changes daily based on what fresh ingredients they have. So far we've had the Henley's Village Burger, Roast Chicken Wrap and fries. The wrap had a deliciously refreshing cilantro crema in it that made me wish I ordered two. The hubby loved his burger, both times were cooked exactly to his liking. Wow, this place was delicious. Decided to go out on a Wednesday for dinner, and we almost couldn't get a seat. This place was packed, it was only around 530-6p, and there were other reservations coming in and out as we sat. It's not the biggest place, but it's nicely decorated and the also have seating outside. The menu had an incredible amount of great choices, it's was actually hard to settle on the option. We wound up trying both tacos, the brisket and the Cajun shrimp. Simply delicious, the brisket was 5/5 and the shrimp was 4/5. For dinner we split the eggplant wrap, which was light and fresh. The French fries were some of the best I've had in a while as well. Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture of that meal because we couldn't wait to eat it. We will definitely be going back, there was so much more we wanted to try. I really think this is going to be our new "go to" spot. read more

My trip to Henley's Village Tavern was influenced by a Yelp search to find a restaurant no one in our group had ever tried... The requirements were great food reviews and a creative drink selection. After seeing the extremely positive feedback on Yelp, and checking out the seasonal menu, I made a reservation and we were on our way. We waited a little while to be helped at first - the restaurant was at full capacity - but that didn't influence my review at all because everything else, including the service, was stellar. Our waitress was able to provide recommendations and answer questions about the craft beer and locals' favorite items on the menu. The menu was small and seasonal. (To me, that usually means every dish on there is probably delicious since they only focus on the best ingredients and preparation for those meals. And in this case, that assumption was not wrong.) While ordering, I really enjoyed that my entree side option could automatically be fries, a soup, or a salad. That gave me the perfect excuse to get a bowl of the potato soup that caught my eye earlier while reading the menu. (And that baked potato soup was totally worth it.) The beer battered meatballs we ordered as an appetizer were a huge hit with our whole group, and everybody thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My one actual complaint was that it was a little loud in the restaurant (and this was before the live music started), so I would recommend going earlier if you are looking for a more relaxed dinner vibe as opposed to an after hours "classy tavern with live music" vibe. I have been here twice and the food is amazing. The drinks are awesome and so was the dessert. I had a spicy chicken with mashed potatoes and greens last night and it was amazing. What I love about this place is that it's 13 minutes away from me, I'm in West Babylon, and I love going to places that have fantastic food, drinks, and service. I went last night with an old coworker and it was great. We sat at the bar, ate a little and had a drink or so. The bartender forgot my friends drink and was so nice when he was reminded about making it. They have a small seating section inside and about 2-3 tables outside for people to eat. My dreams are coming true. Brightwaters is the best village on the south shore (full disclosure - I'm a resident). But one thing that was pulling it down was the nail salon to restaurant ratio (about 10:1). Henley's is not only NOT a nail salon, but it also an outstanding restaurant. I'm a foodie and this place, which is walking distance from my home, is a foodies dream. A changing menu that take risks while having its feet on the ground, makes this not just the best restaurant in brightwaters but one of the top on the south shore. I've been dying to try Henley's Village Tavern in Brightwaters, NY for months and am so glad I got to dine there recently to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. Everything we ate was incredible. Their menu is very fall-ish right now--meaning lots of pumpkin, apple, butternut squash, fall spices, etc.--which was perfect on a crisp night. The space is cozy and intimate. A perfect spot to have a night of laughs and lovely food with your friends. My cocktail for the night was the Harvest Mule: Captain Morgan Rum, Apple Cider, Ginger Beer, Simple Syrup, Lemon Juice, Cinnamon Stick, Nutmeg, Sliced Pear. I love any drink that incorporates apple and pear so this was like an autumn dream. It's also a very generous size. We started with the Butternut Squash Arancini (rice balls) and Potato Chips with Bleu Cheese Fondue. Both were so satisfying and really balanced salty/sweet. Love that pop of the bleu cheese. All of their small plates look magical and I definitely want to go back to try the Bruss-etta and Street Corn Dip. As a Short Rib Enthusiast, I was legally required to get the Braised Boneless Short Ribs with Butternut Squash Ravioli, Crispy Fennel, Rainbow Baby Carrots, and Wild Mushroom Cabernet Gravy as my entree. It was wonderful. Hearty. Savory. Rustic. The mushrooms and gravy was a surprise star. Just such incredible sauce work. The portion for the short ribs, much like my cocktail, was very generous. Other entrees ordered include the Grilled Atlantic Salmon with Dill Cream and Parmesan Risotto and the Warm Goat Cheese Salad with Steak. The salad was mega-autumnal with perfectly cooked steak and the goat cheese balls were delicious (while also reminding me of Vanderpump Rules!). I might get the Salmon the next time I'm back because that Dill Cream was addicting. Salmon and dill are a common (successful) pair, but Henley's really hit it out of the park with that plate. For dessert we split warm banana bread and chocolate gelato. Chunky Monkey is one of my fave ice cream flavors, so this definitely was a big hit. Our waitress, I believe her name was Tracy, was excellent and just so pleasant. The pacing of each dish was also really well done. All in all, a fabulous meal! read more

I had my best meal of 2019 here. Super surprised to find this place. FOOD: The short ribs here blew my mind. They had a ravioli underneath with a savory sauce and potatoes. Just the right size portion where I was full but was able to eat the whole thing. 5/5 SERVICE: Service was good. Waitress came by. Could have been a little more attentive. She was using her phone by the bar area a little too much. 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 - Very nice. Seems like a resturant attached to a bar. Nice wine selection gives it an upscale feel. The perfect burger! My husband eats burgers often so he has opinions and I am fussy but wow, no improving this one. Meat handled just enough to hold it together, just right seasoning, additions just right, cooked as ordered ( one medium rare, one medium) and even a brioche type bun that did not fall apart. Great fries too. Guinness on tap for him and a Bedell white blend for me. We were happy and grateful to Chris at the bar who asked the kitchen to make as something right as they closed at nine. One star for the nice greeting. My partner and I arrived half hour before close- which were not the kind to go five minutes before closing, but figured it would be ample time to order and enjoy our dinner. We were told the time the kitchen was closing and that they would need to take our order right away, which is totally understandable. They actually gave us a good amount of time to decide, which is appreciated. We already knew what we wanted prior to going though. We were both looking for burgers; as they looked fantastic and had all we like in a burger. When the server came over to us, we were told they ran out of burgers. I'm sorry, what? You're a TAVERN how do you run out of burgers? Sounds more like we ran out of time and they really didn't want us there. Unfortunate, because we were genuinely looking forward to finding a new spot to enjoy close by. I have to say, this place is seriously top notch. The staff is very friendly. I came in tonight for the first time ever, mistakenly without a reservation. I didn't realize how tiny this place was! The hostess was so sweet and accommodating, and told me she would call me as soon as she had a table. It only took about 20 minutes for us to get a table. We started with some espresso martinis(delicious!) and the whipped ricotta and goat cheese appetizer. It comes with apples and grilled sourdough bread. When I tell you I could bathe is this dip, I'm not kidding. It was amazing. Try it. For a dinner I decided on the pickleback burger. Who knew bacon mayo was a thing? I didn't, and now I can't live without it! lol the burger was great and cooked perfectly. Paired with the potato soup, it was the perfect meal for a chilly Friday night. My friend had the risotto special which was truly divine. We ended the night with the Kentucky bourbon pound cake. The ice cream it comes with is truly some of the best I've ever had. I am so happy to have a delicious bar/restaurant within walking distance. Not only is the ambiance lovely and cozy, the food and drinks are delicious. The menu constantly rotates and there is a nice variety of items from sandwiches, soups, salads, interesting appetizers and main dishes. My first venture into outdoor dining and it was a success. We've been wanting to check out this restaurant for awhile but just never did for some reason but I was super intrigued by that Mexican corn dip so I bumped this to a priority. We sat at the service tables instead of the picnic area but both spaces were nicely prepared. The drink of the day were peach margs so I got two-they were weak but tasty. Then I got the Mexican corn dip and eggplant veggie sandwich while my bf got the potato soup and burger. We were both obsessed with the fries-crispy, not greasy and just the right amount of salt. He said the burger was awesome but the soup could use a little salt. For me, I was expecting the dip to be a hot dip but it was delicious anyway. I was debating between the veggie sandwich and the Nashville chicken sandwich and a little disappointed I went with the veg. The whipped goat cheese ricotta was awesome for sure but the sandwich was so messy. Maybe a toasted bun woulda been a little easier to hold together but it was hard to eat. I'll def be back tho!
