They serve brunch only until 3 PM. Portions are generous, but the food was okay, nothing particularly memorable. Service was quite slow -- about a 45-minute wait for food. I've always had such a nice experience dining at Prato 850. I actually recommended it a friend this week and decided to visit for brunch with my husband yesterday. He was really looking forward to it since I've been talking about this place for years. Unfortunately, they missed the mark this time. We were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess at the front. I was taken aback by how few people were in the restaurant aside from one large private party. Normally, the place is so lively and well attended. Red flag or coincidence? We were soon greeted and brought waters by our attentive and kind waiter, Joe. He was prompt with our orders and quick to resolve any issues, which there were. I ordered a mimosa flight and my husband ordered a margarita flight. Each flight had one incorrect flavor, but Joe apologized and rectified the matter as soon as I informed him. Our appetizer, a small order of wings, was delicious and flavorful. We waited a little longer than anticipated for our entrées and they arrived with a sweet surprise. No, literally, there was a sweet surprise on our entrees. My bowl of salad had a smear of icing on it and some of my husband's French fries had icing on them too. Now, what would you do? Eat around it or request a new plate? I discreetly brought the matter to Joe's attention. He was apologetic and said he would take care of it and have portions re-made. en route to do that he informed the manager, Jenn, about the situation, and she replied with a loud and annoyed, "It's f--ing icing!" Her outburst came off as though it were not a big deal, that it's just icing and we should eat around it and that they are now inconvenienced by our request to deliver an icing free entrée. When Joe came back, I asked him if requesting new plates was any trouble because many of us could hear Jenn's loud and unprofessional comment. He said it was no trouble at all and apologized again. I noted how we could hear her very clearly and felt as though we were burdening you all with our need for new fries and salad. Joe apologized and had Jenn come our way as I requested. Jenn delivered the food and I asked her if there was an issue with re-firing the food as I was able to hear her comment about it just being "f--ing icing." She replied, "No the salad was sitting in the back and I was waiting on the fries. The person who cut the cake was wearing gloves but got it on the plates." She proceeded to quickly scurry away. 1. That wasn't my question. 2. Where is the apologetic tone for the inconvenience? From what I observed of Manager Jenn before and after the encounter, she needs to remind herself of what it means to be a kind, respectful, and hospitable leader. Every time an employee was around her, they appeared incredibly unhappy. That translates into the food and drinks if not addressed, trained, or resolved. So basically our waiter was fantastic and the food and drinks were pretty good but the experience made it less enjoyable and we now have a poor taste in our mouths. Terrible to have to give 1 stars but it was really that bad. I have had this place bookmarked for years and I just tried it this past Sunday. There were 3 of us and we arrived a little after 11 am. The place is super dark especially for brunch. Our server was very warm but inattentive. She came and took our orders but coffee wasn't refilled and neither was water. We waited a long time for the food and it was just bad. The wings were flooded with too much sauce, the salad was drowned in dressing and even though the server told us we wouldn't be able to taste the difference in the gluten free pancakes, they were disgusting. I came here with a decent sized group on a Saturday afternoon. Casual but lively vibe, fun music, interesting menu, decently clean and well kept bathrooms. The service was excellent - we were seated pretty quickly and our waitress was pretty accommodating, I wanted to try the Godfather sandwich with a few modifications and I am so happy I did, It was delicious. The pizza dough sandwich was so fun, the french fries were steak fries - well seasoned with a great crisp. The portions are huge - we all took home left-overs. Mostly everyone enjoyed their meals. Cute decor here. The Mushrooms After Dark pizza was really unique and tasty. The Prato Signature Burger was sloppy and delicious. The menu says that burger comes with fries, so don't let them charge you an extra $3 for them. (But the fries ARE nice and thick and cooked perfectly, so def get them.) Great service, great happy hour prices. A little disappointed with my pizza but it was my fault for not sending back. The arugula was definitely not super fresh and the pizza was not flavorful. I've had this pizza before at other places (Americano Pie Bar) and there's way more shaved Parmesan, fresh arugula and more flavor. Perhaps it's the shot of lemon juice. This was basically a margarita pizza with prosciutto and arugula. Yes, this is how it is described in the menu but I was hoping for more flavor. The prosciutto was very good. My friend and I came here for brunch! It took a while for someone to come over to us, take our order and bring water. It wasn't crowded so I'm not sure why it took so long. For drinks we had espresso martinis. They were good. For my entree I had the cannoli French toast. It came out cold, but I didn't say anything because I feel if it was warm/hot the cannoli cream would have melted everywhere and it would've been a mess. It had good flavor and it was quite filling. Shoutout Tianna and Chris who earned these 5 stars almost singlehandedly. I'm obsessed with this place. The energy, decor, lighting, music, all a vibe. I got a marg flight and it was delicious + great value, raspberry was my favorite! The food was fantastic. The only negative thing I could say about this experience is that the food took some time to come out (about 40 mins) but as soon as it came out, the servers apologized and had the food remade fresh for us in just a few minutes, because it was cold. They noticed the plate wasn't warm and took it back immediately, and boxed up the cold food for us to take home. I was honestly surprised because in food service most servers would not have voluntarily taken responsibility for that. So that was extremely commendable, and I'll definitely be back. I just returned from having an early dinner at your Commack restaurant. My partner and I sat at the bar as we usually on the rare occasions that we visit your establishment. The young lady at the bar took our drink orders, my partner ordered a Stella beer and I ordered a NON ALCOHOLIC Prado Verde. Our drinks came and I commented that my drink was good with an overwhelming taste of jalepenos ( which is one of the ingredients ). We ordered our food and had our drinks. When the bill came I noticed that I was charged $15 for my NON ALCOHOLIC drink. I told the bar lady that the drink I ordered was $8 NOT $15. She then told me that she gave me the ALCOHOLIC VERSION of the Prado verde and that's why it was more money. I told her that I DID NOT KNOW that there was an ALCOHOLIC version of the drink. Her response was "well didn't you taste the alcohol ?!?!" NO I DID NOT TASTE THE ALCOHOL. She apologized for the misunderstanding on her part and nothing further. This, in my opinion, is a very dangerous and irresponsible practice for your restaurant to have two versions of the same named drink. She never asked if I wanted the Non Alcoholic drink or the regular drink, and me, as a patron didn't not know that I was supposed to specify because I wasn't aware that there was a drink with the same name that contained alcohol. I strongly suggest that you educate your bar servers and correct this on your menu as this can create very dangerous situations for people who cannot consume alcohol. Yikes yikes yikes. My partner and I went here expecting to have a casual, but hopefully good, night out for dinner. We made a reservation in advance and showed up right on time. The place was crowded and for some reason the music was at the volume I'd expect from a nightclub. Enough TVs to fill a best buy. But ok, fine, this place must be busy for a reason right? I wasn't really turned off.... yet. The host told us that our table was a high-top in the bar area because there were no other tables available - but I could clearly see a two-top table in a less noisy part of the restaurant with no one sitting there. I asked for it, and after some back-and-forth at the host stand, we got the better table. Maybe I'm expecting too much when I make a reservation at a restaurant, but I don't want to sit with the noisy bar crowd. We got seated quickly but then it took A WHILE for our server to even come up to our table. I'm talkin, at least 15 minutes. When he finally did, though, he was friendly enough. We were ready to order everything - drinks, apps, and entrees - because we had so much time sitting and reading the menu! We put the whole order in and he entered it into his ordering device, and then began the long wait. We waited over an hour and a half for our food. During that time, we weren't checked in on at all. When the food finally arrived, our server apologized for the wait... but it was really too little, too late. That's an unacceptable wait time for wings and burgers and a salad (or anything!) On top of that, the food was extremely blah. The chicken on the salad was chewy and had a weird flavor. There was nothing Italian Inspired about any of it. We had ordered a side of fries that didn't show up. We asked again for them, and they showed up soggy and cold. I went to use the restroom and there were workers in the hallway talking to someone who I assume was the general manager, and they were all yelling at each other and complaining. Right in front of me! There were other moments through the night where I saw servers and restaurant management arguing and complaining in front of customers. While we were dining, there was a worker who was wearing pajamas walking around the tables and collecting dirty plates in a cart. They were just wheeling it around, bussing tables, in what appeared to be pajamas and a beanie. If it sounds crazy that's because it was. This person was also coughing a lot. It felt icky. On our way to the car afterward, there was a grown man standing over a pile of his own vomit in the parking lot. Honestly seems like some major management issues are going on here. Not being able to figure it out, they charged me and then proceeded to get other peoples orders and charge people. Food is solid, we stuck to some of their wood-fired options - wings and the burrata bomb pizza. Also had the short rib Mac and cheese (not pictured cause it disappeared too fast). Def a nice decadent Mac and cheese, love the texture of the fried onion strings on top. Wings were solid. We did the pineapple Buffalo which was a creamy Buffalo with some pineapple on top. Def not very spicy. We also did the maple bacon, but the maple gets a little too charred from the wood burning. Burrata bomb was deep dish and filling. Went on a Wednesday night for a birthday dinner. There were 4 of us. Food was good, no extraordinary, but portions were very big. Balloon bread was terrific but the whipped ricotta was too sweet. Meatballs were okay. Birthday boy had the donuts for dessert and they had a huge sparkler which was appreciated. One small beef - cocktails are $18-$20 ( high but not unusual) but if you want one large ice cube, there's a $2 up charge! That seems ridiculous for frozen water and just a little petty.
