I recently hosted my 50th birthday party, and while I started out thinking I can manage everything on my own, I quickly realized I was out of my depth with something of this scale. I got Roopa's contact from a friend who had used her services before, and I am so glad I went with her. Roopa took time to listen carefully to understand who I am as a person, what I wanted, and how to make the event "me". Before I say anything else, I must say, everyone at the party said "this is all so YOU", and I have to thank Roopa and her team for it! She helped me engage the DJ (amazing person!), photographer (very sweet) and decorator (super talented). She coordinated every single detail with the venue, designed the floor plan, made sure everything was ready on time. The most challenging part of this event was the live plant decor, and fitting that within my budget. Roopa and her decor person put in hours of work to get the plants I wanted, down to the last leaf on the photo booth - they refused to compromise on anything! My guests asked me how I was so calm throughout the event - and I have to give a lot of credit to Roopa and her team. They were constantly in touch with me, giving me updates and putting my mind at ease. I knew they understood me completely and put their heart and soul into making it an amazing event that people are still talking about even after a week! Overall everyone was extremely impressed, without a single glitch in execution. They commended me for it, some even said I should become an event planner and I told them all it was all Roopa's hard work, I only conveyed to her what I wanted and she made it happen. My first henna tattoo was done by an artist from Henna Bash. I worked with Roopa and she was very accommodating to my requests. There were two artists from Henna Bash at my event and they showed up before the event started. We provided a table & chairs for the guests and artists. Many people weren't aware of their service, thus I had to tape the henna designs onto the table. There were two different colors of henna offered. Since our skin is lighter in our palms, it's best to do the henna tattoo there. When you get henna done, you'll want to avoid washing the area until it fully dries. My henna lasted about four days. I used mehndi artists from Henna Bash for my wedding. I had two ladies for two hours, and the price was the most reasonable of the 4 or so artists that I checked with. They were 20 minutes late (actually less than I expected considering the holiday traffic), and they called before to let me know. One artist did mine which took about an hour and a half (mine was relatively simple by Indian wedding standards-- I got my hands just a few inches past my wrists and light designs on my feet). Then she and the other artist worked on my guests. I had about 15 guests and there was enough time for everyone to get at least one hand and my mother got a little more. They were pleasant and everyone liked their designs. Sorry I can't remember their names. I also ordered two wedding garlands from them and they brought them over. Henna Bash owner/principal/henna artist Roopa is talented and exceeds her clients expectations! My 15-year-old goddaughter came to visit in Sept, and I wanted to introduce her to the very cool, diverse vibe of the Bay Area (she's from too-materialistic Orange County, CA). So I found Roopa on yelp and inquired if she'd take just two clients who waned to have henna for fun, not necessarily for a big event like a wedding (although we we're going to the Green Day concert!). Our schedule was weird, but Roopa was very accommodating and worked with our zany availability, promptly communicating with me by phone and e-mail confirmations and directions, and even welcomed us into her home so she could apply the henna in her studio. We were thrilled to look through her numerous henna books from many different cultures. Goddaughter went for a trendy yin-yang sun on her arm and more traditional designs, all from the books, on the palms and backs of her hands. I asked Roopa to give me her own traditional designs, which she strategically did. She told me why and how she'd like to apply the design to me because I had to drive at the conclusion of our appointment (if you've never done henna, the goal is let the henna substance remain on the skin undisturbed for as long as possible to achieve the rich, lovely signature henna hue...and you can't drive a car with wet henna on your hands without ruining the design, the steering wheel and your clothes!). That's the kind of five-star service you can expect from Roopa! In addition to applying the henna to us, Roopa was a wonderful hostess, as we were in her studio for two hours for the whole process. She explained what henna is, and it's significance in Indian culture (without sounding like a lecturer or a mom, just someone who really loves sharing the henna experience) to my teen goddaughter, and shared some of the interesting things she's experienced as a result of providing henna services at local and destination weddings. Roopa and I gabbed about the local community and economic changes in Silicon Valley, actually one of the reasons she began Henna Bash. We left her studio at 10 p.m. with lovely henna designs, an appropriate bill and gratuity for two hours of hands-on work, and the satisfaction that we'd made a friend to whom we'll return for more henna fun! The next morning, goddaughter and I met at the kitchen sink to fleck away the bigger pieces of henna and were thrilled with Roopa's designs and the final appearance on of the henna on our very different skin tones and textures. We sat down and she gave me time to look through the designs she has and then we discussed what I was looking for and then she started. about 20-30 minutes later we were done with both hands and chatting it up about other stuff while my hands dried. I was looking for event planners for my little one's first birthday party and one of my friends recommended that I reach out to Roopa. Roopa was very easy to work with. I didn't have a fixed set of ideas. I just knew my guests spanned different age groups and wanted events that would best entertain the kids. I had Roopa come to the house I was staying in in Pacific Grove for my bridal shower. She was the only one of the 10 or so henna artists I contacted who would travel that far. That being said, she was 1/2 an hour late which was understandable for a beautiful beach Saturday. She was fast and professional and I had about 12 ladies there who all got simple designs. I am so happy with my experience at henna bash with Roopa. I contacted her to do an unusual design that I wanted in black rather then brown. She was very knowledgeable and concerned about using toxic inks. She suggested jagua which is made from a natural dye.
