I decided about a month ago, that I needed to do Henna for my trip to Dominican Republic for my 41st birthday. I only use Yelp to seach for honest reviews on businesses and the reviews that I read were so very helpful and some scary. When I read the reviews on Henna by Kenzi, I knew this was the spot. I clicked the link on her website and made an appointment (2) days before my trip. The calendar app was easy to use and Lisa continued to communicate with me about the appointment and what to expect when I get to her studio. On the day of I got to her 20 mins before my appointment and Lisa was still very accomodating. It took me 15 mins to find her because she lives in a gem complex. You have to walk to your far left, in between a small parking lot and bingo she's there. You can't miss her arts and craft studio door. Once there she was all business and extremely friendly and professional. We discussed the 2018 elections, bad henna horror stories, my kids including how she got started with henna. I have to say, Lisa is an angel. She gave me a style based on my favorite flowers, she treated me with nothing but tender loving care (TLC). She was finished within 20-25 mins and gave me the instructions including oil for my henna. She even walked me out to ensure I didn't ruin my beautiful design. God gave her an amazing gift and I am happy to say I love it and I will be back. Things to know: 1. be on time! 2. respect her studio 3. pay the deposit of $15.00 on her appointment page 4. pay in full on her website. 5 (1) hand takes about 20-30 mins so book enough time for each body part. You can ALWAYS ask how much time you will need. 6. Communicate if you're running late - you get a 10 min grace before you lose your time. 6. Know the design you want and the color of the hena you prefer before hand. ENJOY! read more

I had mentioned to my little sister that I really wanted to get a henna tattoo and before you knew it I got a text message from her saying we had an appointment at 9pm in Brooklyn. My girl did an excellent job selecting Henna by Kenzi. We traveled from NJ to NYC and arrived on time even after getting a little lost here and there. We gave her a call and Kenzi met us at the gate to let us in. Kenzi is awesome and super personable and made both of us feel super comfortable. Her 18 years of experience really showed when I brought in a drawing of what I wanted and without hesitation she got rite to it. I was completely blown away with the end results. She added her own flare to the henna and she blew me away. She is a true master at the art of henna tattoos. She told my sister I how to care for our henna afterwards and even wrapped us up to ensure we didn't mess it up on the travel home. On top of her immense talent, its her energy, passion, patience, genuineness and the warmth she exudes that all mesh into a sincerely one of a kind experience. One that never fails to make me look forward to my next henna from her. I've seen her a few times and cannot say with certainty Ive ever asked for a specific design. Being that big a pain and putting that pressure on her - i've also yet to leave her studio without being incredibly satisfied with my henna. My family had the pleasure of meeting Kenzi and having henna done by her last year on our trip to NYC. I sought her out and made an appointment at a coffee shop so that my two young kids could wander with my husband while I got some henna done. We sipped coffee, giggled, and chatted while she expertly drew a complicated and intricate Moroccan design on my hand. I was in awe of how she pulled this fantastic piece of art out of her head and laid it down on my hand, making my chubby paw look downright glamorous. Her paste smelled divine and was home made, a huge plus for a henna snob like me. It stained a gorgeous deep brown color that stayed for weeks on the back of my hand. When my husband came back in with the kids, Kenzi drew a little doodle on my 2 year old's hand and then cuddled with my 6 month old baby. She was just a delight to be around - so sweet and bubbly. I've never seen my 2 year old hold so still for so long; she wanted her henna from Kenzi to come out perfectly. I found out earlier this year that she and another artist named Nic Cartier published a book about Moroccan henna art. I bought the book and am so happy with it... the instructions, history, and photos are all beautiful and brilliant. The book is called Moor, a Henna Atlas of Morocco. If you're a henna buff, you should look into buying a copy! Next time we are anywhere near New York, I'm giving her a call for sure. Several people have noted that there's no address listed but that's for a reason. She has a website where you can easily book an appointment. Once the appointment is booked she emails you the address. Finding the place was a bit confusing but I didn't get lost and you shouldn't either. I got there 10min early and she told me she should be done by my appointment time. I waited in the really nice gazebo area. She started right on time and asked what I wanted. I gave her a very vague idea of what I wanted and gave her creative license to do what she wanted. It turned out so beautiful. I'm really happy with the way it turned out and hope it lasts for more than 2 weeks. The longevity of the Henna really depends on my care for it. She gave me clear aftercare instructions.
