Fatema did an amazing job on myself and my daughter! We both are extremely happy with the way our designs came out. Fatema has to be one of the sweetest most welcoming person I've ever met. She welcomed my family into her home with open arms. She explained everything to us. We're already discussing what we will be doing next lol. Thanks again!
Originally I posted a 5-star review of Fatema because while we were in her living room getting henna done she mentioned how she didn't have enough Yelp reviews. This was before she asked us to pay for her services, so we did not know what was about to happen. Because we wrote the reviews while in her living room she gave us a $5 discount-- the astronomically high prices I quote later in this review reflect the "$5 discount" on her already overpriced services. She is VERY misleading with her prices-- she quoted my friend $10 to $15 for a hand henna and $35-$40 for a larger body piece, and she ended up charging me $30 for a hand/arm piece that took her literally 5 minutes and $70 for my friend's design which took her about 20 minutes to do. Other places like Kenzi Henna have established price menus and time allowances for the price point, and I feel like Fatema just made up a price at the end because she felt she could charge more. She also tried to upsell us on taking her husband's cab service home instead of the F train because what's an hour long $100 cab ride after we've already been screwed over by her henna prices? Not only did she charge a lot, her work was just subpar overall. The lines are not particularly clean, and on my friend's $70 henna tattoo she didn't even make the borders consistent in size or design. For that much money we expect something more-- we didn't complain in the moment because we thought she was charging us an affordable price point. The quality one expects between a $30 design and a $70 design is vast-- and she definitely did a $30 design for the big piece. We went out of our way to commute over an hour in each direction just to get our henna done by her because she promised a more competitive price. I want to support small businesses by all means, but price gouging us in her living room where we can't argue the price is just wrong. We didn't argue the price while we were there because her 10 year-old son was in the room, and her husband in the room adjacent-- we were in her living room after all, and my friend and I are very kind and patient people. We just don't like feeling price gouged.
I met Farzana to get my bridal mehndhi. In New York she is the sweetest and best. It is hard to find people in New York in Manhattan and Queens area who are kind, professional, and fairly priced. Many mehndhi experts live in New Jersey and you end up paying high travel costs. And the ones that live in Manhattan charge very very high. I am very open with designs and I gave her some ideas and she just creatively went with it and made it even better! She can travel to you or you can travel to her. She gave me good tips on how to take care of the mehndhi as well so it lasts longer. I am very happy I went to her and I very much enjoyed getting my mehndhi done! I hope to go back again! I felt very comfortable with her and she is very honest and straightforward. I recommend to have Farzana come to you. It's much easier when you're at home, already showered, and henna is done on you because you need to let it stay on your hands for 24 hours so it's dark. Henna needs time to absorb into the skin, the longer you let it absorb the longer it stays.
I was recently visiting NYC and I got the urge to get henna done. I sent a messaged and was scheduled Very Quickly the next morning. The experience was nice, the lady was personable (bonus if you also like horror movies as much as the lady!). Yes, it was in her apartment, but it wasn't weird at all. Best of all-- she was quick and gave me a fair price and the exact design that I showed her!
I was in dire need of henna for the afropunk festival in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was scourging the internet for someone to do it last minute. I called and she was very gracious and courteous with me. She asked what I am using it for and for how long I needed to have it. Being that I wanted to use it for the same day and not a lot of time because I have to go to the festival. We decided to get the express henna. She took her time and told me all that I needed to know about the upkeep and maintenance. Another thing to note is that she makes her own Henna from scratch. She is very knowledgeable about her craft and it shows in her detailed work. I'm so happy that I found this place and ecstatic about the look and design of my tattoo. It was so professional and I would recommend Fatima next time I have it done for an event. She is just wonderful and great to work with.

Secondly, she was so fast that many parts of the design were sloppy. So my thumb and other parts looked a mess when is dried. Oh the icing on the cake..she said 30 but then charged me 35 dollars. I'm thankful that she allowed us into her home but sadly, I didn't have a great experience.
Farzana and her colleague Reema did an excellent job at my wedding last week! They were very professional and a pleasure to work with. My bridal henna came out absolutely beautiful - she accommodated the design I wanted and many guests commented on her fine, intricate work. Reema did a great job on my relatives and everyone was very pleased with her service as well. The two also worked my Mehndi party and were very fast - many guests were able to get their henna done in the slotted time. I would definitely hire Farzana and her team again! Highly recommended :)

My friend and I showed her a picture we found on pinterest assuming to get something similar - she completed the look exactly the same and each hand took about 15 minutes. It was so quick! It was out of her home, but it was so easy to get to off the subway or right off the highway. Her price was reasonable! My hand was only $20 and I feel she did a wonderful job for my first Henna. I would definitely recommend her and go back for another!
I wanted Henna for my 25th Birthday and stumbled upon gold! She invites you into her home with open arms and before you know it your done. She's is funny and sweet never once did I feel uncomfortable. Her work lasted a long time with a deep red. I got looks and complement where ever I was. I highly recommend her! She is worth ever penny and more. Please if you get anything from my review just remember it's all about experience. She loves what she does and it shows. I believe she told me she had over ten years doing Henna it showed!!!!
I was considering getting henna for a while so I finally made the appointment. She worked around my schedule which was very convient for me. Once I got there she explained to me the process and how to take care of it. the whole designed took around 10 minutes or so to do. I love the end result. I will definitely get henna done again. I will also recommend her to anyone I know.

My birthday was coming up and I really wanted to get henna done after seeing some really nice pictures on Instagram. After looking through several reviews on Yelp I decided to email Fatema. I was really impressed by the photos other users uploaded. She told me I should get the henna done the day before my birthday so it can look its best on my special day and quoted me a VERY reasonable price. Fatema is amazing! She's super fast, informative and sweet. She did my design in less than 10 minutes and explained to me how henna works. Apparently your body temperature has a lot to do with the final result. She made me put on my coat and (tons) of layers before she started. And when she was done, she put lemon juice all over it so it can come out bright orange. Fatema even let me sit in her home for nearly 20 minutes to let the paste dry -- and offered me grapes! Definitely going back to her again and I've already recommended her to a friend of mine who's marrying a Guyanese man in the near future. read more

Farzana did such an AMAZING job on my bridal henna! I did my henna on a Friday and my wedding was on Monday. I was worried it would fade by then but it was actually perfect timing. The stain darkened progressively and I think it reached its darkest by the day of the wedding. It's been 2 weeks and it STILL hasn't faded completely. Her henna (which she makes herself!) Is GOOD STUFF!! ALL NATURAL TOO! She was a pleasure to chat with while she worked and allowed me to stay in her home while I waited for my husband who was stuck in traffic. I was thoroughly satisfied and HIGHLY recommend her! read more

Love the design and Fatema was nice to answer all questions we asked. It was a bit pricey I did on hand and stopped at my wrist for my wedding and it was $25... And it was just a simple design. However Fatema was pleasant so that made up for the cost. Fatema does make her own henna using 100% henna leaves from India and pure eucalyptus oil. read more

Fatima is awesome. She was the mendhi artist for my niece's wedding. She is an extremely talented and original artist. Fatima is a kind, gentle and warm woman. All the women had original work, and she decorated a dozen women.... I had a seahorse design, her first and it is beautiful. Fatima also gently educated us about Indian culture. And she loves strawberries for a snack. read more

I am so ecstatic that I found someone else so skilled in what she does. I'm a Henna lover and I love to continuously get the organic Henna. It's hard to find Henna artists who make a great Henna mixture that comes out dark. It feels so therapeutic after I get my design because of the tea tree essential oil mix. I've been looking for a new Henna artist since last year because the lady who used to draw my designs moved back to Cali. Tried so many salons, but wasn't impressed. Something told me to go back on Yelp and look again and I found this generous soul :) .. called her on Sunday and take a guess when she told me to come in? .. Sunday!!! Yayyyy. I was so in love with my design and price ;) that I forgot to take a picture :( so I made a second appointment and I made sure we took a picture before I left this time.
