The sound system is great, so is the lighting. It's in Queens so they of course were spinning some good Dancehall, Reggae, Soca etc. I also like the fact that they had unreserved tables for patrons to sit at. That's a welcome reprieve from standing for six (6) hours at other clubs. They don't really have table service for those unreserved tables, but the staff at the bar was very nice. I was able to visit the bar and come back to my table in a reasonable amount of time. A few words of caution: They do not take American Express Credit Cards. As soon as you walk into this spot make sure you go get some food! The guy working 5/13/22 in the kitchen was very respectful and gave me his best opinion on the food. Very good for a quick cheap meal ! I reached around 10:30pm but it didn't get popping till 1-2am. Very young crowd. I think one my drinks were watered down . Ask for no ice . I normally spend like $100 on drinks at every spot I go too but I only bought 3 drinks after being disappointed. If you buy a rum and Coke ask for Bacardi not Malibu ;) . They are anti smoking so don't bring any roll up or weed or cigarettes no lighters none of that ! If someone asked if I would go there again I would say maybe. It's a 50/50. Then they think their slick when you in a section they send like 5 different girls to come check on the hookah and ask if you want a refill but don't even tell you that it cost $25 ! I went here for new years ALL THE WAY FROM NEW JERSEY .. December 2022 so a couple days ago. The club is only for one crowd. They played Caribbean music and reggae the entire time and Before booking the section I asked was that the only music they played and they said no.. we got there and for one they took my card and ID and was told the bottle girls bring it back to me.. w.e.. we finally get to our section and we order the bottle and hookah. There's only 3 HOOKAH FLAVORS , and all the bottles have to be brought out at one time. When we asked one of the people running it when was the music going to drop they said it was only 12 the party didn't end till 4am, so we wasn't even turnt for the ball drop/count down , then he proceeded to tell us to go somewhere else than. Remember when this spot was Club Tobago? Back in a time in which I started clubbing. They had "Day Jams", obviously during the day, where all the high school kids could cut class and come party. As far as I know, they have stopped doing that, which is great. About 2-3 years back, Club Tobago was shut down for a few months. That was the end it's era. It's been fully redesigned with modern look and a new name: Jouvay. Jouvay caters to drinkers, hookah smokers and hungry people. There's a service on each side of this place; across the stage you have a bar, by the entrance there's a booth where you can order food, across that booth there's an area you can order hookah. Around the dance floor there's very comfortable seating, each is a nice sized table with two medium couches facing the table and anyone can grab this seating because it's not VIP. The dance floor is a retro square in front of the stage that's lifted about half a foot off the floor. The music is mixed out through the night; reggae, hip-hop, pop and a lot of Indian songs. If you want the club experience of the night, don't hit up this spot. This location has changed from a club base into more of a extra large lounge. People don't come here like they used to and there are some nights where the place is just completely dead. But, if you have a nice sized group and can make a party on your own then you would want to come here. Not to forget that most nights here are free entry before 12 and they have an open bar for ladies until then. This is a great spot if you are trying to avoid the crowds and just want to mellow out on your own with only your crew. read more

Came here to celebrate a friend's girlfriend birthday which wasn't that bad because at midnight it was my fiancé birthday. Yay for the twofer!!! That pretty much is where the excitement ends. The night begins with 2 lines. No signage. Is it VIP on one side or men on the left and women on the right? No one knows. We were given passes which allow women in free before 12 and men pay $10. Not sure what happens after 12 and honestly I'm not trying to find out. There really is no honor system here, it's pretty much a who knows who. So being we knew someone we were plucked from the line like puppies at a pet store. Yippee. After having our ID checked and given a vip bracelet we were almost on our way. Security does the pat down for the guys and briefly looks thru my clutch. There is a guy sitting at the door waiting to doodle on your hand with a sharpie and he opens the door let your clubbing begin. The wafting smell of vomit as mentioned by a previous yelper is correct. (I'm not sure what a nightclub should smell like but I'm pretty sure that's not it.) There is a "butler" there to hand the women a glass of champagne/sparkling wine (I don't know. That's about the last thing you get for free here other than the paper towels in the restroom.) We finally find our group and bottle service is requested. Not sure of the pricelist but I know a bottle of grey goose, coconut ciroc, Andre and 3 chasers ( seltzer, cranberry juice and pineapple juice). It was about 8 adults and my fiancé informs me that any additional chaser is not included it's an additional charge. WTF?? Off to the back of the club there is a booth where hookah can be ordered and next to it food can be ordered. The food isn't displayed nicely either. It's just handed to you in a styrofoam takeout box. The restroom. Sighs. None of the stalls have working latches so be prepared to have a drunken women just open the door and half heartedly apologizing. (Oh yea if you're wearing heels watch out because there's a slight incline and the tiles might be damp on the way out.) Overall I think this was my last trip here. The club was nicely decorated though, VERY spacious, not only b/c it was empty but it does cover a lot of ground area. Hookah was good, standard club prices. However, one of those hookah guys was really thirsty, I don't like people grabbing me and he grabbed me sometime during the night to talk-First off the fact that you grabbed me gives me all the right to round house kick you, secondly what you need to do is stop talking and refill the hookah at my table. I was sexually assaulted by a female security guard (peanut butter complexion, thick build, with a rasta-like head cap) last Friday night. I was appalled and alarmed after she groped my boobs and my butt all around as if she was in disbelief that my body was real. I voiced how I felt and the guy at coat check confirmed she does this all the time by saying, "she only does that to pretty women. Don't worry." In addition to this, she vigorously examined every particle in my purse as if she was looking for a pot of gold. TSA does not even pat down anyone like that. I was completely violated. Was here for a birthday party, the space and music was good. The security operations are less than mediocre. Crowd was young egos with something to prove, throw in alcohol and a bad situation is inevitable. Slutty dressed girls and drunk guys, quickly 2 fights erupted. I actually tried to make the best of the night but our party also ended up in a problem as well. We seemed to be the best looking people in there and grabbed quite a bit of attention. DONT GO HERE IF YOU DONT HAVE CONNECTIONS TO THIS PLACE. I live close to this but have never decided to go inside until last night. My friends were in town from Jersey and wanted to check this place out. The guys got there early so they entered the club before us. My other friend and I arrived on the line around 1am. We got to the front of the line around 2:05am all while people who had connections were selected from the line just walked right in. This happened several times within the course of an hour. When we got to the front of the line we were informed that they were at capacity and weren't letting the folks behind us in. The counted the people in the front of the line and luckily we were included in the count because that meant we were going to make it in. As I got closer to the line I realized I left my ID home. So I spoke to a bouncer and he said he wouldn't let me back in although I was already at the front. I spoke to a different bouncer and he said it wasn't a problem. So I took a cab home and came back just for my friend who I was on the line with to tell me that THEY DIDN'T EVEN CHECK ID!!!!!!!! I hurried back and looked for the guy that said I could go in. He wasn't around so I spoke to the first bouncer. He's like we're at capacity and I can't let you in all while he's letting groups of people in while feeding me this BULLSHIT! So I asked why did you just let in 20 people in. He said because they are family of the owner. More bullshit ! He tells me to speak to the owner who was standing a few feet away. He was busy talking to someone so I spoke to the owners friend. As I was telling him what happened he began to empathize with me until the bouncer jumped in and said "I already told her she wasn't getting in." Why the hell would you tell me to talk to someone if you were going to jump in my conversation to make sure he doesn't let me in either!! A waste of my time!! I was there Sunday night after a whole year and went out for fresh air after feeling like I was going to faint from it being so hot in there. I stood in front of the door way right next to the 100 smokers trying to get fresh air but also trying to hold my breath from not inhaling cigarette smoke! A bouncer who was just having a bad day told me to move over so I looked over at the smokers and told him I'm just getting air and I can't take the smoke and that I will be going inside in 1 minute. After I told him that he then said that it was the end of my night and put his hand up to my face and said I don't want to hear shit when I was about to explain myself once more. I then said out loud to him my stuff is inside and I need to get it such as my purse, my fiance's shirt and told him since it was only 1:45 a.m. and I got there at 12 so it was pretty early to be the end of my night! He then continued to be rude and told me "f*** my shit and to keep it moving and leave. I then proceeded to ask for the owner whom I still can't get in contact with up till now and he still continued with his cursing and shenanigans. There was probably 5 fights going on in the club and about 100's of under aged girls drunk in there but he was out there cursing me out. With no sight of owner I then saw a club promoter and asked if he can help he said he couldn't do anything and I just had to give up and call a cab a go home! I'm so appalled and upset by the behavior of this bouncer who basically was being an asshole. I will never return here and I hope people will follow suit. I've reported them to the NYS Liquor Authority and also created a petition. This is the second run-in I experienced with a bouncer in a Queens establishment. Something needs to be done. read more
