This place doesn't disappoint with it's 5 story rotunda with stained glass windows, fossils that are a million years old, artifacts, history and architectural significance. You can tour the building via self guided tour with a brochure you can pick up inside or can print off/download from on-line prior to your visit. The also offer a guided tour once a month on the third Wednesday starting at noon in the rotunda area. I would have liked to have been able to take the tour to get a more in depth account from a local but, unfortunately I wasn't there when it was being offered. They have bell concerts however, they were not in operation when we were there due to a clock replacement project that was going on. Peregrine Falcons have a nesting site in the towers and there was plenty of art on exhibit as well as local educational exhibits that foster community engagement. There is a few souvenirs that can be purchased from the office in room 105 including a pin, pack of postcards, municipal building plates or a monument book that details the history of the building from the beginning until now.

Just a tip for mothers...make sure you dont add barrettes & hair bows to your daughters hair in the passport photos as they will not accept the photo I had to get the photo retaken but once that was done & accepted, we got our passports the same day. I wish I knew about all of the toys at this library before I had my own kids so I can incorporate into our playroom; the toys are all wood and natural and so fun! They have a play kitchen that the kids enjoy and they also have a rotating area that features different things like a pretend post office or a pretend band. Aside from the cool kid area this library is modern and easy to navigate. There is a large book selection ( an obvious must for a library) and a good amount of computers to use for internet browsing or to print. By the way, all Hennepin library card owners can print up to 20 pages for FREE each week!
