Dr. Ackler is so professional and experienced I trusted her and her staff completely. Her office is so quaint and comfortable, the staff is great, I felt completely taken care of throughout. The surgical center is comfortable (but cold! temp that is). The nurses and staff answer all your questions. And it doesn't hurt at all. You can't go wrong choosing Dr. Akler. I'm sure you won't be disappointed, but quite impressed.

It's awesome! Dr. Akler says my vision will further improve which is crazy for me to think about. Dr. Akler, Barbara, and their whole staff are very thorough with their consultation. They did tests the "commercial LASIK" places didn't do when I went there for a consult. The surgery was the weirdest thing you can do, but I would do it again hands down x 1000000. The surgery itself was pain-free. Dr. Akler talks you through the whole surgery while she's doing it. I did have some pain for the first 2 hours when I got home, but it went away and hasn't been back. I've had no complications and I attribute that to a great consultation (ensuring I'm a good candidate), following the pre-op instructions, and the skills and knowledge of Dr. Akler. It's mind-blowing to be able to see this well without my contacts. If you're looking to get rid of glasses and contacts, look no further than Akler Eye Care. My only regret is not getting this done sooner in life! Thank you Dr. Akler!

It's a relatively simple procedure, and the doctor I chose (Martusiewicz) did the job fine. I do miss the medical system out in Oregon though, as they tend to be more open to less pharmaceuticals and overall more open to individualization than they are here. The differences in Taylor vs Royal Oak were small, but a little bit of a bummer. Like in RO, I got warm blankets and was allowed to keep my underwear on. In Taylor, no to both. And then they allowed me to keep a thumb brace on in the OR. So...... just inconsistent and didn't make much sense. Which, IMO, is the issue with bureaucracy. Don't just do shit for the sake of doing it, have it make sense. But, somehow the American medical system forgot that we have brains that we should be allowed to use. The office staff at the Taylor location is much more friendly than RO. The x-ray tech I had was also friendly. The waiting room is okay, but still with the damn TVs - ugh. Plus, when someone comes in there and is a smoker, it seems to permeate throughout the room. Maybe it's the high ceilings - who knows, but I don't love it. Overall, I would probably use this office again - but it's not been my favorite experience in an ortho capacity. Let's hope that after this one, I'm done. :)

I patiently wait. Finally went and ask what was taking so long. The nurse came out and said the doctor was running late so she put me in a room to see another doctor and sat there for an hour and half and noone came to check on me. Went to the nurses station they were all talking, laughing all were young girls. The medical assistant finally came and said that they forgot about me and try to apologize and told me there were to many patients there and were busy but I arrive first and was never attended to left the office feeling discriminate against. If you are a minority dont go to Beaumont doctor's people of color are treated like shit. Just said I have good insurance and was treated so disrespectful.

It has been 2 months since my procedure at Castleman Eye Center. I waited to put in my review…read morebecause I wanted to give it a little time and not just base my review on immediate results. From my initial visit to my most recent follow up the staff has been wonderful. They understood this was a huge decision. They provided information, addressed my concerns and before I knew it my surgery was scheduled and preparations began. I was offered the opportunity to receive the mono vision treatment as I was told that with the regular treatment I would not be able to see near without reading glasses. I opted for the distance vision and decided if I had to wear reading glasses I would be willing as long as my distance vision was corrected. The day of surgery I felt very secure with Dr Singh. The staff made every effort to ease me through the process. Once you are in the procedure room they have it down like a well choreographed dance. You are so busy listening to them do the countdowns and channeling you between machines, before I knew it they said you are done and I was up and on my way home. My vision was instantly improved. However, I noticed a couple days into my recovery that I was having some double vision looking at signs on the road and I addressed these concerns with Dr Singh and she assured me to give it time that it would improve and she was spot on. Things just keep improving. I have not experienced any of the negative side effects I read about prior to the surgery (which almost kept me from doing it) and am thrilled I chose to have it done. Big surprise ending is I don't need reading glasses at all and my distance vision is phenomenal. I cannot thank Dr Singh enough and 2 months out I am finally not reaching to take my glasses off when I get into bed at night. This has been a great experience, Dr Singh is top notch! I could not be happier with my results and I will recommend Castleman and Dr Singh with full confidence to anyone who is considering this procedure.
