Dr Hamilton delivered both my babies and both times I had a great experience with him and his staff. He is a one man show and will always be the one seeing you at appointments along with being there for your delivery instead of an on call doctor. He is available over the phone whenever you need him, I've called in a few times through my pregnancy with issues and he is able to help over the phone or see you the same day! The staff at mills know him well and he has been doing this for a long time so you'll Be in good hands. Hamilton was on call and delivered my baby. However, he did an awful job stitching the tear. My baby was only 6.5lb. But the suture went through a place where it shouldn't go at all and caused severe infection along with other messy sutures. I felt great pain as soon as the effect of epidural was gone and had to take large dose of pain medicines. Sad that it was the first time of me giving birth and didn't know it's not right. Until 7 days after childbirth, the pain was so great that I couldn't even stand or walk. I went back to my usual OB and found out the severe infection and experienced another series of great pain to treat the wound and infection. Now it's over 8 months after the childbirth, I still can't sit long or exercise as free as before due to pain. The cause was said to be the scar tissue. No idea when I can go back to normal or when I can have my second child. I do not recommend Hamilton at all! read more

Dr. Hamilton is the absolute best. He was our OB for both of our children, one who's now 2.5, and one who we just gave birth to in April. Part of me wants to have a third kid just so Dr. Hamilton can be our doctor again ;) Appointments: Dr. Hamilton keeps things light and makes you laugh. He never rushes you during appointments, and always makes sure he's answered all of your questions. He'll put you at ease and tell you not to worry about all the typical first-time mom concerns about what you can and can't do while you're pregnant. But, if something important comes up, he will take it seriously and make sure the issue gets the attention it needs. He's great with kids, too--my older daughter (2.5 years) who he delivered, loves him and would always want to attend appointments with me. He would even blow up latex gloves into balloons for her :) Communication: Unlike many doctors these days, it's easy to get in touch with Dr. Hamilton on the phone when issues or questions come up. When I had a smaller concern, like recurring headaches, and I called the office, I spoke directly to Dr. Hamilton and he gave me suggestions (his nurses are amazing too and often helped if he wasn't available). I had some more serious after-hours issues in both of my pregnancies, and in all those instances, he took my calls in the middle of the night and he sent me to the ER to get things checked. I hated the idea of waking him up, but he would always say I did the right thing to call and that he wanted me to call if anything happened again. He's had his patients take baby aspirin for decades to reduce pre-eclampsia, and recently this has become more widely done. He has a low percentage of unplanned c-sections because he tries to avoid patients going too far past their due dates. With all the unknowns surrounding pregnancy and childbirth, Dr. Hamilton thinks everything through and makes choices that are the best for his patients and their new little ones. Pre-delivery: I ended up being induced for both deliveries. Leading up to my due date for both children, Dr. Hamilton had me come into the office often (just before delivery, he had me come everyday) for checks to see how my body was progressing and to do vaginal "sweeps" to help get my body ready. Dr. Hamilton wants to have all the information he can before a delivery so he can do what's best for you and baby. I delivered our second child during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Dr. Hamilton put me at ease about this on numerous occasions, too. With our second child, he let us choose our induction time since he knew we had another little one at home to juggle. Another one of my favorite Drs who has been around of a long time! I had 3 kids, all delivered by him and everything went smoothly through all the deliveries. What I really like is he is there through the pushing and coaches you how to push, which is so helpful. All my deliveries were fairly fast and no complications! He will also let your husband/partner catch the baby if he or she would like to. The staff is so friendly and will answer any questions you have at your appointments. I really like the labor and delivery staff at Mills Penninsula in Burlingame, as they are so attentive and all the nurses I had were excellent during my labor, delivery and after. I could of gone home after 1 day after delivering, but I always stayed the two days because they really help you out with the baby! Hamilton delivered my baby in Dec 2017 and I literally do not plan on going to another OB if I can remotely help it. It was a super fast delivery, I felt like I was in great hands, minimal pain (he is great for pain management), stitching from the minimal tearing, and does a 2 and 6 week post delivery checkup. By 2 weeks i was feeling great and by 6 I was asking how soon I could have him deliver my #2. He has delivered over 3000 babies and stopped counting and lives near by so if you get induced (which I did) he is able to check up on you (he did like 4 times) over night and come whenever you need him!! You can not match him with his level of experience and everyone from peds, ultrasound, nurses, and etc all knew him and that made my visits to other providers super smooth. I loved how he delivered the nurse in my room's 3 kids, 3 kid for one of my coworkers (who said his wife had Hamilton after I said I delivered at mills and loved my ob), and etc. If I lived 2 hours away...I am still going to him. Cons: Office sometimes runs late (so I got the last appointment of the day when possible). This is since he delivers all his own babies and they don't always come on time or take longer to come out...shocker. :) read more

The doctor was nice enough, but his support staff was unprofessional, condescending and rude, and because of that, I won't be returning. I wanted to get an IUD, so I asked the staff how much the service would cost three times. I even asked them to call and verify the charges with my insurance so I wouldn't be hit with any additional charges. They came back and said it was 100% covered. After I was assured it was 100% covered, I booked the appointment. I went in, and the procedure went well, taking less than 30 minutes from start to finish. Afterwards, I got the invoice. In addition to the insertion of the IUD ($125), I was charged: ($130) An office visit ($25) Urine Test, mandated even though I knew 100% I wasn't pregnant (can't be pregnant without sex) ($210) Ultrasound .... I'm surprised they didn't charge me for the air I breathed while I was there! When I called to understand why all there were all these extra charges that I wasn't informed about BEFORE the procedure, especially when I had previously asked, the billing manager told me that most people know that the IUD and the insertion cost are separate, and I must have been the select few who didn't. I asked her why the insertion of the IUD didn't cover the other things, since, they all seem to go together. That's when she started raising her voice at me, telling me that I was getting a good deal, other places cost 3 times as much (I just did my homework, and they do not), trying to She then offered, super sarcastically, I could come back and have it removed (obviously, I would still have to pay for it) and put it in another place that I found cheaper. When I said that was stupid, why would I have it insert twice, she laughed and hung up on me. Like I said, the doctor was nice enough, but his billing manager is another story. Dr. Hamilton looked after my wife throughout her previous pregnancy and delivered our second child. He did a fantastic job. This was actually critical because the baby's heart rate started to drop during the final stages of labor and Dr. Hamilton whisked us off for an emergency C-Section. Turns out that the umbilical cord was getting squashed between the cervix and the baby's head and could have starved her of oxygen leading to all sorts of problems. I thought he was good but I didn't write a review because, after all, Drs. are supposed to do that. However, during our third pregnancy, Dr. Hamilton did something amazing. My wife started to have a bleed in the 8th week. Naturally, this caused us serious concern. We called Dr. Hamilton and explained the situation. I thought he might want to see pictures, or tell us to go to the Emergency Room, but instead he offered to see us right away at 10 pm at night and he stopped whatever he was doing and went to his office to meet us. Thank God, everything was fine, but we just needed to know either way. If you want a Dr. that has your back when things don't look so great and you need him the most, then look no further than Dr. Hamilton. read more

This is probably the worst experience with OB in my life. While doing the transvaginal ultrasound check (the transvaginal ultrasound equipment was still "inside of my body"), his cell was ringing. I actually did not mind that he answered the call because there may be a life-threatening emergency that needed him to attend to. However, after a few seconds, I realized that there was no urgent issue. Therefore, I expected him to finish the call soon. But he did not. The woman on the call (I could hear a bit) kept talking, and he did not interrupt her. That call may have lasted for a minute or so as I started feeling a bit "cold" down there, awkward, and uncomfortable because the equipment was "inside of my body" all the time during his call. In other words, he used one hand to hold his phone, and used the other to protrude me by using the equipment. After his call, he got back to my body with his hand that just held his cell phone (without cleaning). I felt insulted. But I was too shocked to complain during the appointment. I hope that he (or someone in his clinic) sees this post, and ensures the same thing will not happen again. read more

This review is long long overdue. I absolutely love Dr Hamilton. He is the best OB in town and if you are lucky enough to be his patient you will be well taken care of. Dr Hamilton practices medicine the way it should be. He is a doctor who cares about his patients and always does not rush you when you have questions, fears or anything on your mind. He sits down and takes the time to make you feel comfortable. That does means sometimes he can be late for your appointment but it is worth it. He doesn't just come in, do his thing and leave. He genuinely cares about making you feel good about whatever you came in for. He is an amazing doctor who is super knowledgeable with an awesome sense of humor to boot. I was lucky that my OB in his office referred me to him and I think I'll stay with Dr Hamilton until he retires. During my first pregnancy I had a lot of complications but not matter when I called or how many appointments I had, I was always able to see dr Hamilton or georgette (who btw is super amazing as well) without any issues. Two things really stood out for me as to why dr Hamilton is the best ob out there. First time I had an allergic reaction to a medication and ended up in the ER in the middle of the night. Dr Hamilton who wasn't on call showed up just in case since it was late into my third trimester to check me out and make sure me and the baby were ok. I mean what ob does that? The second time was when I was seeing my ENT doctor and he asked me who was my ob was. After I told him he said yeah dr Hamilton is the gold standard for ob doctors, you will be in good hands. I mean among his peers and fellow doctors people all know what an amazing doctor he is. That's a clear sign that he is the best. When I delivered my baby all the nurses knew I was dr Hamilton's patient and it felt like I got vip care because of it. They all knew who he was and clearly they all adored him as well. But what stands out most about dr Hamilton is that he loves what he does and has a strong passion for obstetrics. I keep asking him are you going to retire? He keeps saying no since he loves what he does! I'm so grateful to have him with my second pregnancy and always share what a great experience I've had with dr Hamilton. And side note, if you do have to get a c section his method leaves little to no scars so you can still wear a bikini! read more

Often if I called with a question, would be transferred to speak with him directly or receive a call back. He is an amazing surgeon, I had a large fibroid that had caused me to miscarry my first pregnancy. Dr Hamilton was the fourth opinion on this issue as the verdict until now was leave it and see what happens or take it out and risk hysterectomy. Dr Hamilton made me feel confident that it could be removed safely and I could go on to babies afterwards. Doctor Hamilton is the best ob in the bay! He delivered my twins boys with least blood loss, 410 ml. The normal range for non-twins baby is 500-1000ml. Twins turns to lose more blood. Considering all these, he is really good! He is also very knowledgeable and answers all my questions even it's late at night. He is very accessible. I had a pretty bad expression with my first delivery with another ob. That surgery went unnecessarily long for more than four hours. And that ob could not give me an convincing explanation. I was very frustrated. When I met with doctor Hamilton for the first time, he explains my questions from the last questions. So I decided to switch to him for my pregnancy this time. It turned out to be one of the best decision I've made. He is not just knowledgeable but also know a lot about twins. We are very happy to have him. Doctor Hamilton's humor, confidence and expertise made the whole process easy and I'm in good care. He is patient and he listens. He also does the circumcised for my boys and his technique is the Best. It's a plastic band around that thing and it falls on its own. You don't need to apply Vaseline every time. It's carefree and much less painful for the babies. Lots of patients mentions it's a long wait, but I think he is worth of wait. Especially for such a important time of life, you would rather wait for a good doctor than timely seeing a lousy doctor that is giving enough attention and care you should have received from. I'm currently in a high-risk pregnancy, and had been going to Dr. Hamilton for a while, but I switched doctors. It scared me that I had to remind him of the complications I'd had every time I saw him. He'd performed a D&C on me just months before, but kept asking me if this was my first pregnancy. I'd been there every week (sometimes twice a week) for the first 10 weeks. I understand he has a lot of patients, but he'd given me advice that changed once I reminded him of my heart-shaped uterus and other issues. I'd feel better if the he'd (at the very least) looked over my chart. Georgette remembered everything that had happened with my labs (which is great) and was incredibly helpful when I had questions. He's a great guy if you're unemployed and have all the time in the world... I was referred to Dr Hamilton by a coworker, and was really excited to go see this guy. My first appointment was just a regular annual checkup, but the doctor was so backed up, I ended up waiting for hours, taking time from work in the middle of the day. They said it's best to schedule appointments in the morning. So I did! The first time I did that, they called me the day before and said he wasn't going to be in due to surgery. Reschedule again... Told me I was the second person of the day. Not true! Showed up on time, the doctor is not even in... He's on his way! And there are two other people before me! What? So if I had a couple of more hours in my day, this would be worth it. And I'm absolutely sure there's a correlation between his age and his inability to manage time. read more

How do you JUST give 5-stars to the wonderful doctor who brings your first born into this world...you can't, because he deserves a million stars if possible. We switched from Kaiser to a PPO in the middle of my pregnancy. I interviewed a couple of doctors, but in the end we chose Dr. Hamilton and that was the best decision we could've made. Dr. Hamilton is a very proactive doctor, extremely caring, with a wonderful bedside manner, personality and sense of humor. Dr. Hamilton saw every part of my pregnancy once I made my transition to his office. He personally delivered our daughter from the very first push...he didn't wait till she was crowning or anything, but rather told the nurse to hold off on my pushing until he got there. Every postpartum hospital visit Dr. hamilton saw me, he took the reins and did his job, with or without the assistance of a nurse...he isn't the kind of doctor who delegates the task to others and just oversees, he is very involved, patient, and thorough. What solidified his expertise and highly regarded reputation was when our dear friends traveled from San Diego to support us during the birth...apparently, Dr. Hamilton was our friends' OB when they lived here and he helped deliver my friend's niece as well. Amazing doctor and his staff is equally as wonderful, warm, and accommodating. Of all the medical staff I have experienced, Dr. Hamilton's office is high up there with friendliness and professionalism. Dr. Hamilton delivered my son back in July, and it went great! I had a c-section with my first, and this time I really wanted to have the natural childbirth I had planned with the first. As you been-there-done-that moms know, once you have a c-section, it can be difficult to convince an OB to let you try for a natural delivery. Dr. Hamilton was very supportive of my goals from the beginning, and pretty much let me call the shots as long as I was being a rational, reasonable person. The nurses at Peninsula were having a coronary over the fact that I was trying for a natural delivery, so they made Dr. Hamilton sleep in the hospital overnight "in case I needed a c-section." He didn't complain about it once, and even came in every few hours to check in on me and see how things were going. Long story short, I ended up successfully delivering my 9 POUND 4 OUNCE bouncing baby boy with no drugs at all. I felt like a strong, powerful (albeit tired) warrior woman! Dr. Hamilton delivered our second child in 2012. We drove from South San Jose for over an hour to see him in every appointment because he was so worth the drive. He's definitely one of the most caring, friendly, talented, and dedicated obstetricians in the Bay Area. He's busy, but the wait time was not too bad and his office was pleasantly new and comfortable. He made his patients feel like he really cared about them, and he remembered details and history of his patients (some doctors don't !) He saw details many other obstetricians could have missed and was able to prevent the premature birth of our baby. Unlike some other obstetricians who just show up when it's time to push, Dr. Hamilton stayed with us through the whole labor and delivery. When I came to the labor room, he was already there. He was very detailed, kind, and outstanding in every way. I had wonderful delivery experience and gave birth to a super healthy baby girl. We're grateful for his care. it took me a while to find the place...possibly b/c i was assuming to find some high rise office building...when i walked in, it was quiet, quante, and clean. the people there seemed like they were happy to be there. I went for my yearly PAP and had to see the nurse prat. which is fine i really could care less (as long as they are certified...lol) so i saw Georgette...DUDE I LOVE HER!!! she is freakin awesome. she's so funny (and her nurse assistant too) seem like we were friends forever. she's candit and doesn't hold back which i love b/c it made me feel a lil at ease. i did meet Dr. Hamilton also who seems pretty nice and funny too. the first thing he asked me was "are you pregnant?" and i was like "no just here for my check up" he wipe his forehead and "shhweeoo---good girl!" i burst out laughing assuming cause it sounded like something my dad would say...lol great place! read more

Dr. Henry Hamilton is a fabulous ob gyn. He helped me through two pregnancies and delivered my babies, one "regular style" and one c-section. The nurses at Peninsula hospital can tell if you are a Dr. Hamilton patient because the scar is "so beautiful" -- seriously. That is what they said to me last October when I had my second baby. His demeanor is friendly (even funny at times), practical and calming. He is a great listener and he helps hormonally destabilized pregnant women keep everything in perspective. I didn't have the smoothest pregnancies or deliveries but I always felt I was in the best medical hands. I highly recommend him! He is also the founder of a non profit, Medlend.org, that supplies surgical equipment to medical mission teams when they travel to remote locations around the world. read more

I was patient of Dr. Hamilton 16 yrs ago. I was pregnant with twins and developed asthmatic bronchitis. the doctor did not treat the asthma or the resulting illness. This made my already high risk pregnancy even higher risk! He had me on 2 prenatal vitamins a day (which could have caused birth defects) and seemed to forget that he had talked to me earlier in the day when he told me that there seemed to be a few women dealing with the same thing. I changed doctors mid pregnancy and feel that the new doctor saved the lives of my twin sons! I've head horror stories about botched circumcisions and am thankful I made the change when I did. read more

Best doctor I have ever had. He removed a benign tumor from a very private part of my body, and he was wonderful through the whole experience. Thus, I can attest to his consummate bedside manner. Dr. Hamilton is smart, experienced, attentive and very funny and engaging. He and his daughter do work for his not-for-profit as well, which sends medical teams into impoverished countries to provide medical care. I even do volunteer work for them now. Sometimes you have to wait for a while for your appointment, but he's worth it. I'm crossing my fingers that he doesn't retire before I spew out a baby! read more

He is wonderful. I do have to remind him of me a bit, but I'm sure part of that is because I'm a new patient and part of it is because he probably has a lot of patients and doesn't review my case history for 10 minutes before coming in. He gives wonderful attention, makes you laugh, is easy to talk to and listens to your concerns. I have had complications for 5+ years now that I had told all my previous doctors about and no one listened- just told me it was normal. He did and we found abnormalities that had been causing my issues. Now we are working on fixing them! I love how much he has made my feel more optimistic about my future and his care. read more

Dr Hamilton, and his entire staff have been excellent. They cared for me during my second pregnancy and are continuing to care for me. First of all ... Why did I end up with Dr Hamilton? Because the Ob I had with my first pregnancy, Dr Mary-Margaret O'Neill was a butcher and an antisocial monster. She left me with a hideous c-section scar and never once in the length of my pregnancy looked me in the face. When she finally delivered my son in April 2006, she was pushy & rude with a terrible bedside manner. Avoid her if you can. Her midwives were wonderful, though that was the only reason I stayed. But learned my lesson. So I researched for a Ob that would do a VBAC- someone to replace Dr O'Neill, and would take my insurance carrier. Dr Hamilton was a recommendation from a friend. Personality / Performance: He's informal and disarming with a relaxed sense of humor. He travels 3-times a year to 3rd world countries performing life-saving surgeries. He's fluent in Spanish (although I didn't need it). I was very comfortable having his hands on me - and that means a lot, since he's my first ever male Ob/Gyn. Dr Hamilton coordinated with my primary care physician beautifully to deal with my thyroid condition. When my mucus-plug released, he came in after hours to check me. His humor, directness and practical advice put us at ease in preparation for delivery. When time to deliver came and 48-hours of labor hadn't produced dilation, he didn't pressure me to c-section. He was glad to let me choose. Ultimately I did choose a c-section with a tubal ligation. His surgical skills and bedside manner made it a breeze. He even fixed the hideous scar that Dr Mary-Margaret O'Neill left on my belly. I definitely wish I'd found him earlier. I sometimes wish I were pregnant again, just to see him & his staff more often.
