I was impatient with Dr. Press he first three visits. First visit, he did a history, it took over an hour. He told me to bring my records and any test. 10 years of paperwork and over 400 pages. He said he needed to review them and rescheduled me two days later. Second visit, he summarized my history then he examined me. Then he said I needed a vascular ultrasound and blood work up. Third visit, now it's a week later he then said I needed a MRI and after 10 years of failed therapy he needs to know what is going on thats causing my fainting, I freaked out and yelled at him. What really caused me to be upset is when he said I'm not a candidate for neck manipulations. I loudly argued, my M.D. sent me to 4 other Chiropractors for each of my auto injuries, they said Chiropractors would help my neck pain instead of heavy neck medication. Dr. Press said, based on his training, education, and forty years of experience I needed a surgical consultation, "I suspect you have a dissection of your carotided artery and possible blockage that could lead to a stroke. I can order more test but it's important that you get a Cardiologist to monitor you immediately." I said,"I've had this 10 years how do a dozen doctors not find that problem?" After the third visit, I went back to my Orthopedist and Neurologist and both said Dr. Press is full of crap and referred me to a physical therapist. A week later I get a call from Dr. Press I told him what my Orthopedist and Neurologist said and that they referred me to a physical therapist. Dr. Press then wanted to send his reports so I gave him their names. Within the week I get a call from them, STOP! treatment with the physical therapist I immediately freaked out. I then called and got an appointment with a highly recommended Cardiologist in Simi, who I hadn't seen before, he actually read Dr. Press' reports I gave him, then called Dr. Press right in front of me. And then when he got off the phone, he said I'm fortunate that Dr. Press proceeded with caution, and he was clinically correct. I'm grateful to Dr. Press for not letting my impatient and anger issues cloud his judgements. I will always say a prayer for him and his family to continue helping others. I met Dr Henry Press in 1977 my Dad brought me to him for my neck when I was 5 years old. We moved to New Jersey in 1977 and the chiropractor there said I should have surgery to release my neck muscles. My Dad said no way surgery! I had what they call congenital torticollis. So, my neck was bent side ways to the right 60 degrees. As an adult and now a father, my wife and I moved back to Westlake Village in 2012, where my third son was born with what doctors called a congenital torticollis. At 2 years old I brought him to see Dr. Press. A very emotional reunion for me and Dr. Press. I explained my son was a breach birth and the doctor turned him inside before delivery and they used forceps. Dr Press gently used his fingers to palpate my baby son. I've been an apprentice for a hairstylist in a busy salon for a few months now and I'm constantly bending over and to the side at an odd angle to wash client's hair in the sink. The repetitive movement has caused me to have back and neck problems. I was freaking out thinking I was going to be in pain forever because of my career choice. I'm a 58yr old male with multiple levels of degenerative disc disease in my neck and back, diabetic and have gouty arthritis. I saw Dr. Henry Press for manipulation therapy only when I get spinal pain. I met him when he was designated an expert witness for another chiropractor's treatment and records in an auto injury accident two day trial. I was the defense attorney. I was told chiropractors couldn't withstand examination in trial. I was told juries would not value their opinion. I was told chiropractors excessively over treat patients. At 82, I was afraid a chiropractor would hurt me. I was having difficulty, getting out of a restaurant booth and I must have had a look of pain on my face that a young man passing by, helped me get up and out of the booth. Initially I wasn't sure Dr Press was the right fit for me. I'm 51 years old in the fitness business 25 years. I expected a show and tell doctor. Instead he said no to most of my choices for self-care. He told me he may not be the right Chiropractor for me. I was flustered! I've been going to Dr. Press for years, whenever I've had a problem, and I've always been very satisfied with his treatments. In fact, I'm sometimes amazed at his intuitive ability to identify what's wrong, and then to fix it.
