I got four quotes for my roof and Henry Roofing was not only the most expensive but the date to complete the job out by over 3 months, during the winter. I went with another roofer with the lower bid but most importantly the sooner time table. After the fact, Henry Roofing is charging me $1500 for their so called "free estimate" but threating to sue me for the complete job of over $11,000 if I don't pay the $1500. I used Henry Roofing for a complete tear-off and new roof job. They gave me a great price and did a great work. In a single day. Had no problem with the estimator showing up at the appointed time to review the job. He was very helpful in going over the selection of shingles and patiently answered all of my questions. The price charged for the job was half of what other roofing companies had quoted me. It's been two years since the new roof and not a single problem. The new roof has transformed the appearance of my home. (Will add that the forman tried sell me an unnecessary side service to vent the roof space. But that was on him, not Henry's.) read more

I hired Henry Roofing on a recommendation of my insurance agent. All the funds were in escrow so I didn't really care about his pricing. So I hired them. When I did a little research in to what kind of roofing they used I decided I wanted another brand. So I called and left a message. After 3 days of not getting a call back i looked up their website and left a message there. After 3 more days I called again and left another message. 2 days later no call back. Finally I got a call and said we were on for Feb 20th. On Feb 19th I got a call saying they couldn't do it because the rains had thrown them off schedule. Of course I understood so my reply was "when will reschedule"? The reply was I don't know. I asked well, approx when will you be able to do it without a couple weeks...again the reply "I don't know". Well, I know something, I was going to find someone that would know. I called Family roofing that day, they came the next day and said "it's a very small job and could fit it in between jobs. They were hired and 4 days later I had a roof on my house. 10 days later Henry called and said they were now ready....Sorry, I was ready for answers and results. read more

These people are so hard to get a hold of. First of all, they claim they stand behind their work, but when we called to have them fix the gap between the board and the gutter, they said it would be another $400. They never did the work right in the first place, now they want to charge $400 to fix something they never did right. Gimme a break! They try to hook you to get your work, one its done your screwed.. I will never recommend them or use them again! read more

Unfortunately, Henry Roofing never bothered to show up to replace the gutters on our house, in spite of scheduling the work nearly 4 months ago. No one from the company bothers to return telephone calls, in spite of several messages being left by both myself and my contractor. read more

Less than thrilled. Paid for insulation but wasn't included in permit or installed. My neighbor had to tell me it wasn't done. Many errors and alterations that weren't asked for. Additional costs that were added on after but not discussed with me. Difficult to get them to fix issues. Overall, however, it was affordable. Would I recommend them? Only if you have time to stay home on install day to avoid issues. read more

Good luck trying to get Henry Roofing to answer the phone or return phone calls. Ultimately, did not go with them for my roof installation because I was concerned that if I had a leak after installation that I would not be able to be get ahold of them and my house would suffer the consequences of a leaky roof. I will have to add my one star rating to the others here, because I know they mean what they say! I, too, had the bad experience with Henry Roofing. Brian estimated my job, asked if i wanted a "patch job" or if I wanted to "do it right." Naturally I said do it right, which was way more expensive. The roofers did a sloppy job of removing and reassembling a wood railing on a balcony, then when I found the roof still had a leak, no one came to fix it when I called. I held back their check hoping that would make them come around. Never got a call back. A year later, I got a bill marked "overdue." When I called to try to resolve the leak issue, I got voicemail, and am still waiting for someone to return my call. I have a feeling no one ever will. My advice? Steer clear of Henry Roofing. read more

I got three estimates for a new roof, all saying the exact same thing, offering the same brand of roof tile. One was $21,000, one was $15,00 and Henry was $7500. They did a beautiful job in a day and a half, cleaned up very well, fully reliable at every step. Henry Roofing just finished replacing the roof on my house this week, and I couldn't be happier! While I was initially concerned because their price was so incredibly low, I eventually chose them based on the low bid, their A+ rating with BBB, the fact that they've been voted "Best of the Bay" for the past 7 years in Solano County, as well as the couple of positive reviews on yelp. Some of the things I especially liked: 1) Brian, who provided the bid, was great to work with. He brought me a roofing color chart and offered to drop off roofing samples. He gave me a choice of 30 gutter and downspout colors when other roofers only offered white or brown without an extra charge. He gave me the bid on the spot, on his first visit. 2) The Henry crew was wonderful. Led by Efron, the Foreman, they worked quietly and efficiently and were very good natured and respectful of me and my neighbors. They installed three skylights for me, and left the place spotlessly clean at the end of each day. 3) They finished the job in two days when others estimated three to four. And even though the old roof tear-off was far more work than Brian had anticipated (5 layers of old shingles and additional skip sheathing) he didn't charge me extra for it. In addition, they had to remove and replace a fair amount of old, rotted, wood at the roof edge, and the extra cost for this was almost nothing. 4) The finish result is beautiful, and clearly done with skill and care. So, I would highly recommend Henry Roofing to anyone in the bay area who needs a new roof. And I will never go anywhere else. read more

I needed a new roof and contacted several roofing companies for estimates, including Henry Roofing. The Henry Roofing representative, Brian Sauer, came over and after examining the roof, gave an estimate right away, and wrote it on a contract which he gave me. As other people have mentioned, he was pleasant to deal with, and the price quoted for the work was considerably lower than the other estimates. He mentioned that there was quite a bit of rotted wood on the roof edges, and on the roof extension that covered the back porch. This would require extra charges for the new wood and labor involved above the estimate. The Yelp Reviews on the company, and a positive assessment of the company from a man who had had his roof replaced recently by the company here in Berkeley (a lead that Brian gave me), made me decide to go with Henry Roofing for the job. The work was started in early December, and basically finished the next day, for the roofing work itself, without the gutter/downspout system, which was to be done two days later. The gutter crew actually showed up a day early, and finished their work in 2 1/2 hours. All together, the work took about two days total - approximately 15 hours of work. The crew of about six men worked very quickly and efficiently in tearing off the old tar and gravel roof, cutting away all the bad wood and the porch overhang, and replacing with new primed wood. They installed three new attic vents and replaced all the heater, water heater and stove exhaust vents with new metal vents, and put metal flashing on the other plumbing vents and roof edges. The new twin-layer felt and shingling was mostly done the first day, and was finished up by 10:30 the next morning. The crew took special care to clean up all the scraps and nails, etc. each day, and spent extra time going around the house the last day to make sure everything was picked up. The extra wood and labor to replace it and do the extension over the back porch cost an extra $850, but with the 10% discount the company gives on every job apparently, the job still came out at about $3,000 less than anybody else's estimate, and considerably more than that on one of the estimates. After the roofing work was done on the second day, I had a chance to go up on the roof to inspect the work, and take about 60 photos of it. It looked like a very good job as far as I could tell - very neat shingling, and the vents looked great compared to the ancient ones that had been there before. As it turned out, it rained quite heavily and steadily that night, and I had a chance to see how well the work was done right away - no leaks. Although the gutter system wasn't on the house yet, it didn't make any difference in regard to leaks, the rain just ran off the roof edges. The new gutter/downspout system works very well, and was tested in other rainstorms later in the month. The company required about 10% down, and the balance at the end of the job. The contract was finished and signed a few days after the job was done, and the final typed up version, marked PAID, was mailed within a couple of weeks - after the Holidays. The company did just what they said would be done, and for a very good price. I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. read more
