This is a real hidden gem. Unassuming storefront, cash only, tv playing Japanese news coverage of the store, this spot is a vibe. They have an overwhelming number of unique tropical flavors. I went for the lychee ice cream, and it was incredible. Perfect ratio of lychee flavor to milkiness. My one complaint is that the ice granules were a tad too coarse for my liking. $11 per cup is steep, but its well worth a visit.
Cash / Venmo / Zelle only Henry's Place is a small dessert shop selling a variety of different ice cream flavors. It's a no frills place with only a couple seats outside. If you happen to need one there is also an ATM on-site. We were told that their Kona coffee ice cream ($10) was really good so that's what we got. Their ice cream is stored and sold in styrofoam cups but it's packed to the top. The ice cream was creamy and really good and I'm sure their other flavors are as well.
Finally got the opportunity to try Henry's Place, and honestly, it is just OK. I think what threw me off was the service. I felt like we were annoying whoever was working the register with our excitement of taking pictures and videos. She even got a little upset with my sister and told her to "be quick" when opening the freezer door and to "not take any videos." So yeah, it is true with what others are saying in their reviews about not opening the freezer until you know which flavor to get. I thought they would have a pretty good amount of flavors but I kept saying the same ones during my visit, so I ended up getting a Lihing Pineapple Mango Sorbet and my sister ended up getting a Passion Orange Guava Ice Cream. Both were good, I won't deny them that, but I felt like the sorbet was heavy on the lihing flavor. The consistency was for sure smooth and it did melt pretty quickly. They are CASH ONLY or you can Venmo or Zelle. Parking might be a pain so it's best if you walk from somewhere. I think they close early on some days because we went one evening before closing time stated on Yelp and they were already closed. Overall, I don't think I would make it a must for me to go here again. Maybe if I was nearby.
Hand made fresh ice creams and sorbet. Mainly a pick up and go shop. Pay by cash or Venmo etc, no card We got the Ube ice cream, the mango ice cream and the pineapple/ guava sorbet. Loved the ube ice cream--such a deep rich ube flavor. Due to the real ube in it, it was a tad gritty but I didn't mind because of the great flavor. The sorbet was excellent as well, not overly sweet and really highlighted the fruit flavors. The mango ice cream was more than a little bit icy but had a great flavor. So some things to work on to perfect the ice cream but amazing flavors.
Thank you Yelp Elite All Star and Foodie Buddy Donna O. for introducing Henry's Place to me. It all started about a month ago. We were on a foodie adventure and Donna said let's check out Waikiki Tea. Located next door is Henry's Place. Donna raved about this place having the best fresh fruit sorbet. Fast forward to this week, and we found ourselves back at Henry's Place. I ran into Henry's Place to pick up a watermelon sorbet for Donna. Of course, Donna kindly shared several tastes of the sorbet with me! It was sooo delicious and smooth in texture! Sweet and refreshing. All natural watermelon flavor throughout the sorbet. 5/5 star flavor. A bit pricey in my humble opinion at $9 plus. However, having said that, it is quality flavor you are going to enjoy. Plus the smooth texture of the sorbet is an amazing melt in your mouth experience. It's a small store with freezers holding the sorbet and ice cream flavors. A sign asks you not to open the door until you have selected your choice of flavor. The place gives you a vintage Waikiki hut like vibes on the inside. Definitely a popular spot for locals and island visitors. Perfect to help you cool down on a warm summer day. Parking is limited here. Find street parking or come with a friend so you can jump out a pick up a few cups to share.
Henry's place is place for good homemade ice cream and sorbet. I came here many years ago and would come here more often if they were in town! Probably need to find and take someone with me to grab some for me lol. I do like sorbet since it's not dairy and it's like eating puree frozen fruits! They do sell fresh fruits here too. I was lucky to find street parking! I usually go to Waikiki Tea (Lady M) at the same time but wasn't sure which stall was for Waikiki Tea in the parking lot. Parking stalls are shared by Wasabi Bistro at night, Waikiki Tea and the Urasenke Tea House that do the Japanese Tea ceremony on Saratoga Road. Wasabi Bistro and Waikiki Tea are the same owner(s). Henry's place is next door to Waikiki Tea, so they are nice to let people park there just to grab and go their frozen treats. The sorbet cup is about $9.05, but I enjoyed every bite since it was just like eating frozen mango! It was really good. I wanted to try pina-colada, lychee, and the watermelon again. Gosh it must have been 6 years ago when I first came here to try the watermelon sorbet per my photo posted! I love watermelon drink and sorbet too. It was so refreshing! Just make your decision before opening the freezer's door! Henry's Place may be hard to find on beach walk but it's a small store to the right! Usually it's crowded with customers outside, so you can't miss the store!
Food: Had the lychee sorbet and it was perfect refreshing, full of flavor, and just the thing for a hot summer day in Waikīkī. Ambiance: The shop itself is small and simple, with no indoor seating, so you'll need to enjoy your treat outside. It has a casual, charming feel that adds to the local vibe. Service: Service was solid, quick and straightforward, which is all you really need at a spot like this.
Homemade in a styrofoam cup sorbet. Cash only but they accept Zelle or Venmo. They have outdoor seating and you pick your flavors from a freezer so it's just like a store. It's an in and out type of store front so there shouldn't be long lines and you can sit and enjoy it or eat while walking. Because the flavors are written with permanent marker, my hands were stained. There were a variety of flavors and we went with the li bing pineapple mango sorbet. It's like $10 so a little more pricey but you get a lot and can share. They close at 9pm which is on the later side for the stores in this area so it's one of the later dessert spots open. I enjoyed the flavor and it didn't melt quickly. There's no parking in the area so easier to walk here or grab something k the way back to your hotel if you're in this area.
I found this place by chance while walking around Waikiki. There were so many people, and I was craving a sweet treat so I had to check it out. This casual, homey stop features fridges of homemade fruit ice creams and sorbets. It's worth noting that one cup is about $10 so more on the expensive side but the cup gives a decent portion size. My friend ordered the passion fruit orange guava ice cream and I tried the strawberry guava sorbet. The passion fruit orange guava ice cream was amazing! One of the best ice creams me and my friend had eaten in a long time. The strawberry guava was good, but a bit too sweet and icy for me. I'd try the mango ice cream next time I go instead!
Henry's ice cream is the best ice cream I've had in my life to this day. I was intrigued to see such a small shop with just two freezers full of ice cream in styrofoam cups. There were SO MANY flavors to choose from, I wish I could try them all. The passion orange guava flavor was amazing. It was refreshing and perfectly sweet. The texture was slightly grainy, yet creamy, smooth, and rich, something I've never had before, but loved. You can taste the quality ingredients they use, and I constantly crave their ice cream from California. This is a must have if you are in Waikiki. I'd take a flight just for it.
We got the lychee ice cream. It was creamy and refreshing, and tasted exactly like lychee. The ice cream was amazing, but the ice cream was hard to scoop out with the provided plastic spoons, as my brother broke 2. The lady in the front provided us extras thankfully. It's kind of crowded but doesn't matter really as the seating is outdoor. It's very good, I recommend.

Henry's Place is super unassuming little shack on Wakiki strip but this was literally the best dessert we had on our entire trip. After the first time we had this ice cream we got extremely addicted, and we attempted to go here everyday but couldn't T_T Mango is definitely the star flavor. All the flavors tastes like the actual real fruit but the mango is the most real actual delicious fruit flavor. It has the bitterness and unique pungentness of eating an actual real life mango. I wish I could get this mango ice cream every day for the rest of my life. All the ice cream has chunks of fruit in it and is super icy and not very creamy. I believe that Henry makes these out of actual real fruit, which causes them to have this type of texture. We also got other flavors like lychee which had actual lycee bits in it and tasted like I was eating actual real lycees. So delicious! The pineapple coconut also tasted like eating real pineapples and real coconuts. This place is amazing! It's like eatting the actual real life fruit but in ice cream form. So sad that I didn't know about Henry's until my last day in Honolulu. We came here because I wanted some cut fresh fruit, but it was the homemade ice creams and sorbets that really intrigued me. There's such a great assortment of flavors, ranging from tropical options like lychee ice cream, mango sorbet, and coconut sorbet to some Filipino varieties like corn and cheese ice cream and ube ice cream. I got the watermelon sorbet and it was delightfully refreshing and not overly sweet, since the owner uses fresh fruit and its natural sweetness for these frozen treats. Feeling major FOMO since I didn't get to try the calamansi lime or POG sorbets, but hopefully I'll be back, and when I am, Henry's will be one of my first stops. A hidden gem WITHIN a hidden gem? Say what?! Let me explain. Throughout our relationship, my boyfriend has been telling me about this hole-in-the-wall shop in Waikiki that has great tuna sandwiches. Likewise, I sometimes mentioned to him a little shop in Waikiki that has great ice cream. One day he decides to show me the sandwiches and come to find out, it's the same place! Henry's place, that is. So it seems like this shop is generally known as a place that has a wide variety of local-style flavors of ice cream/sorbet. I love the fruit flavors, and sometimes even try their Filipino inspired flavors such as ube and corn cheese (it's good!). But I've come to find out that the tuna cheese sandwiches they sell (in the cooler right across from the ice cream) are DELICIOUS. The tuna mixture is like none I've had before. The tuna salad is green from what I assume is chives/parsley and it has a strong onion flavor. I wish I knew the recipe because I want to recreate it! It's so simple but so good, and cheap too at $3.50. They have other kinds of sandwiches as well, but I've never gotten those cause the tuna cheese is too good. *COVID Update* This is a super hole in the wall, but they're open late! This is cash only, no restrooms, and no parking around here. I parked near the post office the street over. They allow paid parking on the white spaces, but there's also some street parking around. Most people probably walk over from their hotel. I only tried the ice cream and sorbet. I didn't buy any drinks or sandwiches. I recommend the apple banana ice cream and the passion orange sorbet! The cup is large, so it is definitely shareable. I read a previous review that mentioned putting it in the freezer if you couldn't finish it. I actually planned for that since I came after dinner, but it was all gone before I got back to the car! It's worth a visit if you're in the area. They play some Japanese ads on the TV outside. There are 4 outdoor seats but no tables. read more

Modest and unassuming little storefront that I'm sure a lot of people just walk past.. but little do they know, they're missing out big time!! The ice cream here is DELICIOUS. It's like traditional ice cream and shaved ice had a baby, so you get the best of both worlds. It's icy and refreshing, yet super silky smooth. I don't know how they do it, but it's divine. We tried the passion orange guava, which tasted amazing! The ice creams are $6 and come in pre-packaged styrofoam cups. Sure, the presentation of the packaging and storefront aren't exactly flashy or super "attractive", but the quality and flavor speaks for itself! read more

Ok this place its a hidden gem. It is a bit sketchy if you go at night since the street its on has poor lighting and not much traffic but its a great spot for homemade sorbet and ice cream. This whole in the wall has many flavors you can choose from. My favorite is Guava sorbet. Love it! Refreshing & sweet. Don't forget to make your decision before opening the freezer haha this store has so many signs everywhere it makes it picturesque. Go try it! Its cash only. read more
My friend and I tried out the mango flavor since it was the most popular flavor according to the owner. It was way out of our expectations, in a good way! The ice cream was smooth but we could almost taste the texture/ fiber of the mango in it. You could tell it was genuine and there must have been lots of real mango in it. My friend is not a big fan of ice cream, but she gave this one a thumbs up! It definitely is a recommend! read more

Is the ATM RIGGED? My husband took out $40 and our bank statement says he took out $44 with a $1 ATM FEE..you can't take out singles from an ATM. Is it a $5 ATM fee? When normally it's $2.50-3.00? Incredibly cute hole in the wall mom and pop ice cream shop that has a few free standing freezers with incredibly delicious ice creams and sorbets. Black sharpie is ice cream and red sharpie is sorbets. Walked passed this incidentally on first day and literally came back every single day to try more flavors including lychee ice cream, pog sorbet and corn cheese ice cream. There are about 6-8 seats outside the place and it's almost always filled with people enjoying their styrofoam cups of joy! This place is so good please visit!! This place is located along the beach walk area of Waikiki. Its a small hole in the wall place that sells a variety of ice cream and sorbet out of a prepackaged pint. We tried the lychee, kona coffee, and mango sorbet. They were all pretty good. I believe the place is also cash only (just an fyi). read more

This tiny storefront sells drinks and snacks. It's popularity, though, seems due to ice cream presented in styrofoam cups with the names of the interesting flavors written in black sharpie marker. While the flavor choices are great -- hey, if you want vanilla, go to the ABC store -- the ice cream itself lacks the creaminess that would take this place to a whole new level. read more
May be small, but it packs a strong Hawai'ian punch. Sorry for the pun, I just couldn't resist. Located near Waikiki Beach Walk is a delightful little convenience store that is popular and known for their ice cream and sorbets. Locals and tourists line out the door just to get their sweet treats from styrofoam cups with handwritten sharpies. Now if that's not ghetto fab, I don't know what is. From what I could gather, they make a few batches a day and everything is homemade from real natural ingredients. They use all local fruits available on the island and the combination they create are just delightful little treats. Whatever is fresh and available that day, that's what you're gonna get. I grew up with these tropical flavors, and I love it. I'm not a vanilla, chocolate, oreo cookie or rocky road type of person. These flavors got nuthin' on ube, mango, coconut, pineapple, papaya, passion fruit, guava, avocado and whatever fruit that grows on tropical trees and lush, fertile grounds. These flavors got more depth and are far more superior than whatever they're churning at Dreyer's or Breyer's generic stuff. Give me organic and don't need to panic. Nothing is artificial here, and you can really taste the real ingredients that are big and bold flavors being churned out from a small little place. The quality is superb and the end results are delicious concoctions from creamy, silky, smooth ice creams to icy, cold, crisp, clean and delicious sorbets. I don't know who Henry is, but he sure makes excellent ice cream and sorbets. read more

Just an update that the ice cream is ow 9.55 for a cup. I love the place and I would pay this! My favorite is lychee. It taste like putting a lychee in your mouth.. You cannot get this anywhere as fas as I know. My son did like the "After taste in his mouth'. I didn't have the same experience. He also loves frozen custard. Okay who cares about all this. They have the best fruit flavored ice cream! I miss the daughter, I hear she comes later in the evening. If you want ice cream come support this family owned placed. Yes i posed the same pictures since my husbands says why do you need another picture at the same places. Oh but they don't put lids the just wrapped it with Saran Wrap. Do i like that no but do I mind? NO it still taste yummy yum yum. read more

I loveeeeed the lychee ice cream because of the real ingredients and pieces of lychee. So refreshing and a great sweet treat. Will be missing this spot and sad I couldn't come back twice during my stay. Highly recommend coming here for ice cream or their fruits! Also this family owned business really values their ability to be personal with customers and the quality of what they make. Truly appreciate this especially in a commercialized area. read more

Henry's used to be one of our favorite ice cream places to visit while vacationing on Oahu. This visit, we found it to be very icy and not at all creamy. Considering the quality and size, $10 for one is a bit much. It is popular with Japanese tourists and the young lady manning the stand is not the friendliest either. Some would consider her rude even. She was on the phone the entire time talking to her friends about personal matters and seemed bothered by patrons asking questions or needing assistance. The past few times we've been to Oahu, this has been a stop for us! We love the hole in the wall feel and it's always close to the outrigger and tonkatsu ginza bairin! It's the go-to ice cream spot for us! The past few times we have tried the jackfruit, Ube and strawberry guava ice cream! Each time it has been so flavorful and so delicious!! We have yet to be disappointed! We usually come at night time so there aren't as many flavors as there are during the day but we still have had a decent selection! The strawberry guava and Ube were a bit icy this time and not as creamy but we still love coming here! Just a note, make sure you bring cash and make your choice before opening the freezer. The owners will tell you to close it if you can't make a choice. At $6.25 a cup, it's a pretty decent size and enough to share! If you don't feel like sharing it's plenty to enjoy by yourself! This is a hidden gem! Besides tasting shave ice in Hawaii, you gotta try sorbet at Henry's Place. Their flavors vary daily and whatever they have in the fridge is what you'll get to choose. I was kinda bummed they didn't have the lychee flavor when we got there. We got the pineapple mango sorbet and it's pretty good! Got these two on our last day on Oahu, and it was the perfect farewell treat! LOCATION: Super inconspicuous place but once you find it, it's bomb. I actually walked past it a couple times trying to find it. Super small shop with a freezer filled with different flavors. FOOD: Got two fruity flavors, and they tasted like creamy, frozen smoothies. Delicious and refreshing! My favorite of the two was pineapple coconut - the flavors work really well together rather than one overpowering the other. It's a decent portion and has an affordable price - definitely worth! Heads up: cash only, but there's an ATM! The surcharge is lower than most of the ATMs at the hotels too, so that's a bonus. If you're staying in Waikiki, this should for sure be on your list of desserts to try out! read more

We walked by this place on our way to dinner and had to come back afterwards for dessert! It's such a cute little shop and has so many different flavors to choose from we had a hard time deciding on what to get. We settled on guava ice cream and though it was a little on the icier side for my preference, the flavor was awesome! I wish they had smaller sizes so we could have tried more but we had no regrets with the one we chose. We also got a papaya bowl and the papaya was incredibly sweet. Reaaaaally don't understand the hype. The strawberry guava sorbet tasted more strawberry than guava. The consistency was smooth, so it was decent enough. Not sure it was worth $6 though. I was not a fan of the honeydew ice cream. It was not creamy enough and it had ice crystals inside. Your fingers also get stained from the sharpie writing rubbing off the cup. Wouldn't return or recommend. As mentioned in every other review - don't open the case until you know which flavor you want. read more
