We chose HER Roofing for our roof, and they did a beautiful job. During my research phase, I met with the owner while talking to several roofing companies, and I was very impressed. She comes from the roofing product side of the industry, so she really knows her stuff -- especially shingles, warranty levels, and what actually matters long-term. I was glad to see someone with that level of product expertise move into the roofing business itself. It was a pleasure working with her, the on-site supervisor, and the installation team. Everyone was friendly, professional, and conscientious. What stood out most compared to other roofing companies I talked to was that many seemed focused mainly on just getting the job, while HER Roofing had much deeper technical knowledge around the full system -- not just shingles, but venting and other installation decisions they make by default that should help the roof last longer over time. They're not trying to win a race to the bottom on price. If you want the absolute cheapest bid, that may not be what this is. But if you want quality work and thoughtful decisions that should hold up over time, I highly recommend HER Roofing. read more

Reroofed our home. The roof and attic inspection was professionally done and the bid on the job was a detailed bid listing all materials and costs plus labor. This was a welcome surprise. The job was overseen by a project manager who checked in each day with me and the work crew. At end of day the site was cleaned up. I added new gutters to the bid that were installed by a gutter crew whose job boss worked with me on best placement of downspouts for good drainage. I would recommend HER Roofing. BBB A+ rating. I was excited to find a woman-owned business that could do a skylight repair for me. My 2 skylights and tar were cracking and leaving areas open for potential water seepage. Not to mention they were ugly bubbles and tinted so they didn't even let much light in. Jana came out herself to inspect the old ones and give a quote. She recommended VELUX skylights, which as I understand it are the most safe. Pricing was right in line with what I expected. Sarah was helpful in scheduling, including when I had to delay due to holidays and tenant needs. It took two half-days to complete since we did it in the middle of winter and daylight was limited. The result looks great! So much more sleek and smooth with the rest of the roof. They just survived the Feb 2021 snowstorm/icestorm without any issue, so I'd say that's a pretty good measure of success. read more

I advise finding another roofing company even if your goal, as was mine, is to support a woman-owned business. Horrible work (I'll include photos to prove my point). I contracted HER Roofing because of a bad leak in our roof. Jana initially told me that we had virtually no ventilation in our attic space. No cross-ventilation had been installed under the eves and the little knobby vents on top of the roof had simply been placed there apparently for looks. I let her know that I wanted to fix everything and to make it right: I wanted proper ventilation installed, including cross-ventilation, which meant making cuts under the eves and adding screening. She also said we may need to contact a mold mitigation company, which I also said if necessary, I'd absolutely do it because I want my house to be safe. July 11 a team showed up to remove the roof. The next day, July 12 they finished the job. I still don't have cross-ventilation; I may have needed mold mitigation completed but the new roof was installed without ever letting me know if there's mold. Both of those things could have been completed while the roof was off but since, what I'm assuming was a third-party crew and not actual employees of HER Roofing, would have had to work more than two days, that would have them on the site too long so anything that would add time to the crew's work would be left unaddressed. Also distressing was that my roof now has more of those knobby vents when I had told Jana that I want to install solar panels and therefore I would need the more modern vents. Post-installation when asked about that Jana told me that our roof didn't have enough pitch. I've since asked my general contractor and he said that IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE! Our roof has plenty of pitch to have put upgraded, modern vents in the roof. I hate the way they look and I wish I could change the vents. Also, in all of the brochure photos she showed me, not ONE had the old-fashioned, knobby vents. The last thing I'll mention, even though not the last example of shoddy work, is how they cut into my siding and didn't finish the work (see attached photos). The siding looks like it was cut by a five year old. It's uneven and unfinished. I'll bet if we had a million dollar house, Jana wouldn't have allowed it to be left as it is but since we're in a modest home, she figured she could get away with it. It's appalling. read more

I filled out the on line contact form on the HER Roofing website including my address info to request an estimate for roof repairs. after several emails back and forth an appointment was set, next email sent to me informed me that she could not honor appointment because I live in Fairview???? Oddly, I learned of this company, I was excited about supporting, when I saw one of their vehicles in the Home Depot parking lot in Troutdale... strange experience, guess they don't need my support and business. read more

We hired HER Roofing in June 2022 to replace our 27 year old roof. Jana and her crew were excellent to work with. Jana provided a lot of education about roofing, what is important and why they do what they do. She presented a very detailed estimate and answered all of my questions. The ladies at the office were available by text and phone and quick to reply with any requests. The crew that did the work were very efficient and tidy. I got several other estimates and HER Roofing was in the middle price-wise. What moved me was the knowledge and expertise of HER. Overall, I would highly recommend HER Roofing. Disappointed and unimpressed. While HERS may be great at installing new roofs, our only issue was a decrepit roof that sprung a leak. Their best, short-term fix was to tarp the area allowing us time to prepare to sell the property. While tarping any section of our roof is a good thing, the installed tarp completely missed the area I identified as needing to be covered! We're $1000 poorer, with exactly the same leaking roof - and HERS has yet to reply to my emailed concerns.  Indifferent customer service at the very least. read more

We had to reroof our 110-year-old house including removal of the original cedar shake roof and installing plywood sheathing. Add to that we're in the West Hills and there's limited access to the site. Another contractor walked away when they realized the scope of the work. HER Roofing was able to work within the constraints of the site and move debris out and materials in without irritating our neighbors. The crews worked quickly and quietly (a plus when you're working from home) and they seemed focused on getting the job done. They handled side issues like repairing hidden roof damage without added delay. We particularly appreciated that HER assigned a crew member to keeping the site clean during the roof removal phase. Though we still find bits of cedar shake in the tops of shrubs, we're not finding nails or roofing material off cuts in the yard. We paid full price but got a full service result. read more

I had a small roof leak and had been unable to get a call back from the many messages I had left the original company who had done the initial repair which continued to leak. Thankfully I found HER Roofing and couldn't have been happier when I was able to speak to a live person and discuss the issue with my roof. They penciled me right in, and not only was Jana not late, but she called to ask if she could come early! After she arrived, she took many photos on her iPad, and thoroughly explained what she found and what she recommended we do to fix the problem. Very honest and worked until they fixed the problem they caused, but I would not use them again for my 100+ year old craftsman home as they did not seem to have the experience to work with old homes, and did not seem to care about my home's appearance. I had new gutters installed and instead of cutting out a slot in the exposed rafters and fascia boards like we discussed, they cut them off completely without letting me know beforehand. They cut them off with a jigsaw, and many of the cuts were quite crooked. I was told that they did this because the rafters could not "support" the gutters. They did measure and cut a slot on ONE of the rafter boards, i'm guessing because it had a cable attached to it, but I still can't figure out why they felt it was necessary to cut the others off, except to save time. This was a big change to the curbside appeal of the house, and I was concerned. When I said something about it, I was told by the owner "they're just decorative". I realize they are decorative, and that my house will probably not fall down as a result, but the value of my home is not purely based on its structural integrity. This is a 100+ year old craftsman, and the "decoration" is part of its appeal. The owner agreed to have one of her employees "patch" the boards by cutting a piece of wood to size and fastening it on with a bracket. The wood they used was some kind of particle board, and it has a different texture than the existing boards, even when painted. They were also cut to slightly different angles than the original boards, so it's easy to tell that there was a patch. Overall it makes my house look a bit shabby, and will cost me a lot of money to fix correctly. Although they did everything they could to fix the problem they caused, I would not use this company again, as they seemed to not have too much concern for the look of my craftsman home. The lack of good communication and the apparent drive to do a quick job, rather than a good job, is very disappointing. read more
