Bar none-the best roofing company. Why? 1. Safety. They came today and I've seen roofers take unbelievable risks. As a homeowner that is not acceptable. They have two people and a roof safety system. 2. Quality. I've never had such clean gutters! They emptied, washed and then cleaned up the mess on the ground. 3. Service. They answer the phone. They send you text messages to confirm. They show up on time. They are not the cheapest. But your home is an investment and they treat it that way. read more

Yikes! Their less-than-detailed bid was $10,000 more than the company I finally settled on. I was told they do good work but no way can a simple re-roofing justify such a high fee. The guy that came out was in and out in record time (under 30 minutes) and his written bid seemed rushed and lacked specifics (compared to the other companies I contacted) and Leach works two months out - I'm glad they're in demand but I'm not interested in waiting so long. My advice: Get 3-4 bids on your roof and go from there. read more

Tom Leach roofing has been the only roofers to work on our home since we've lived here which is a very long time (1974) Our roof had a total tear down this time of which it needed. The crew was here everyday and worked all day in the heat. And a nicer bunch of guys, hard working guys you just won't find. Right here I have to mention Juan & Aaron. Juan is the crew boss and brings so much to the business. Aaron is the owner and always available if need be. The mess was cleaned up daily and even more so on the last day. I actually enjoyed them being here even though it got noisy from time to time. Highly recommend. read more

We had a couple other roofers drop out so we called Tom and he came out the next day gave a quality bid. We took their bid and was scheduled out about 3 weeks. Highly recommended! Professional, good communication, great clean-up, well done - first rate all the way! Ours was not a simple, straightforward job. The cedar shake roof was the original roof on my 47 year old home. A few extra little roofs here and there - a woodshed - a garage. 5 skylights. Our driveway is steep with a turnaround that's fine for cars, but challenging for anything else. I got 5 estimates. Tom Leach was not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive. I like the warranty. I like that all of my questions were answered. I like that this is a local company and they have their own crew. It took a bit longer than anticipated due to rain, the challenging driveway and limited space, and the fact that the original owner used larger than usual nails on the shingles (hard to remove). They did a stellar job! Cleaned up every night. Left everything in great shape. No harm to plants or trees. All of the roofs look great! read more

Worst customer service of any local company I've dealt with in the last 10 years. Don't follow through on calling back or sending emails. Not great at answering the phone (answered 2 of 8 calls during business hours over the course of four weeks). You get a business card from one of their estimators, and it has the same generic office phone number and a generic email address - so back into the worst game of one-sided phone tag. After five total weeks of trying to work with them, we finally get a bid. We ask one question, and despite being respectful and trying to be patient after not receiving multiple emails that they were supposed to send, the estimator backed out on the job. Had to have an ounce of trust in them. I've seen other people posting about the horrible experiences they've had. Maybe you'll get lucky but considering how communication from contractors can be hit or miss, this was one of the worst experiences that I've EVER had. Proceed at your own risk. Stetchy. read more

Tom Leach Roofing replaced my roof last April. I got several estimates and theirs was competitive with the others. They gave me a list of roofs they had done, and I drove around to look at the colors, which was super helpful (much easier to pick from a real roof than from a tiny sample on a board!). I wanted to be home when they did the roof, and they were flexible about doing the roof at a time when I could be there. Juan and his crew were there and ready to start each morning at 8:00. They were very pleasant and answered my relentless questions. They cleaned up at the end of each day. The roof looks great and I haven't had any problems, and the total cost was exactly what Aaron estimated. It's taken me awhile to do my review, but I rely heavily on Yelp and Angie's List, so I think I should be posting reviews on the stuff I do too, especially this big ticket stuff. read more

Thankful to Aaron of Tom Leach for diagnosing the problem with the gutters on the Emerson Street House. Tom Leach did the roof on the house that was ultimately deconstructed due to black mold and no rebar in the Foundation. Neighbors asked me how the job was going, since it was in January (rain season) and I said "it was flawless ... their standards for quality are better than mine" The foreman Juan, was very conscientious and left no stone upturned. You know when you have such an incredibly positive experience with a contractor, that you can't stop telling them how AMAZING their crew is (while kind of tearing up)...and aren't even sad when you pay them? I hadn't either until today! HUGE, HUGE recommendation for Tom Leach Roofing! Our house is super-duper old, challenging (roof line + elevation/access from ground to peak) and they were unflaggingly considerate, tidy, insanely hard-working, great communicators, not noisy outside of unavoidable sounds, on time every day, and completed the job in 4 days!?! :0 Not the cheapest bid we got, but our neighbors went with that outfit - and had troubles. Not the most expensive either by a long shot! Competitive. No sales job, I only had to pick out the color...and they did the rest. Oh, and our roof looks great too. Even our neighbors came over to comment on how impressed they were with the crew. We've been in touch with them over the years, and finally took the plunge. ***We'd collected a handful of bids, but they'd come so highly recommended, and after checking in a number of times over the years [always] had been so straight-forward and professional (where others made things complicated it seemed) that we picked Tom Leach in the end. Second experience was far less positive. I tried to make an appointment for Tom Leach to clean my roof and my gutters. I tried calling in twice (two weeks apart) based on my first positive experience with them. Both times I was told they couldn't give me an appointment when I called in, but that they would call me back "by the end of next week" to make an appointment with me to get my roof and gutters taken care of. They never called me back either time, so I waisted a month waiting on them. Very disappointing, given my first experience with them. Waiting a month for the work to be done is fine, waiting a month to even find out if you can make an appointment is not. read more

Just got a new roof installed by Tom Leach Roofing. We got 3 bids for the project. All were within a pretty close range. We chose Tom Leach Roofing because of our trust in Aaron, their account rep. He was able to answer all of our questions, made helpful suggestions, and followed through on delivering the project on-time and on-budget. They responded quickly to our request for a bid, and once we notified them, the project was completed within the next week. It only took 2 days to replace our roof, and the work was done in the middle of January! I am very pleased with how our new roof looks, and it is a relief to know that it is guaranteed to last for longer than I will probably be alive! read more

First of all, these guys are fast and efficient. The crew came in and had my roof done in 2 days. I am giving them a 3 star review because of the lack of communication between Tom Leach and his crew. There were certain aspects of my job that went overlooked. Some water damaged wood that was highly visible was not assessed and replaced like the contract stated would be done. The gutters were to be removed as well, also not communicated to the crew. They spent valuable time fixing and reattaching gutters that were to be ripped off and replaced. The real disappointment was being told the water damaged areas would be fixed at a certain day and time, and the person that was going to fix it was a no show and didn't call. We called and left a message that was not returned. Overall the roofing was done well. But be prepared to manage the job yourself to make sure everything actually gets done. I made the mistake of not supervising the project myself and now I'm staring at water damaged wood as I walk up to my front door everyday. read more

We had our new roof done from Tom Leach this winter. For choosing the slow season there was a discount, and the bid was extremely fair for such quality service. Aaron was responsive and professional, always emailed me back with prompt answers to all my many questions. The job was done in just a couple days, with a gorgeous outcome. Even with a last-minute surprise of having an unsalvageable rotting skylight, the guys had a new skylight onsite immediately to get the job done on time. A couple days later I noticed a small clean-up issue likely due to weather, and Jorge came out right away to help make it right. Our roof looks fantastic, and I highly recommend Tom Leach! read more

Tom Leach installed a new roof for me some years ago. I was disappointed with the installation and will explain why. My roof project included the replacement of all the tongue-and-groove boards of the eaves, and many of the facia/barge boards and trim that form the peaks of the roof. I wanted the whole roof to look new, not just have new shingles on top. His crew did a terrible job on the eaves and the fascia/barge boards and the roof ultimately looked poorly done. When they nailed the eaves in place, the ends of the boards split repeatedly where they nailed them into the rafter tails. These splits were visible from below and there were dozens of places where this happened. It looked terrible. In addition, they mis-measured the distances of the overhangs that formed the peaks in the front and rear of the house (they cut the overhanging boards too short). They realized that too late, and when they did, instead of properly repairing it, they just shoved the barge boards in at an angle to try to correct for their mistake. So the barge boards didn't lie vertically flat like that should have. It looked hokey. Tom never mentioned any of those mistakes nor did he correct them. In fact, he was never really there. He made the bid and dropped off materials, and then I never saw him again. His crew of employees at that time was only two men, Juan and another man whose name I've forgotten. They in turn hired a crew of day laborers to do the dirty grunt work and paid those workers in cash at the end of each day - I watched them hand out the cash in my front yard. Safety did not appear to be a concern for Tom. None of his crew were roped in or following any safety protocols and that had me worred. During demolition, they danced across the exposed roofing joists while holding rubbermaid trashcans full of shingles and roofing debris on the shoulders, then dumped the debris from the roof edge into a dumpster below, before dancing back across the joists to get more. These men worked very hard, but it looked dangerous. In addition, they wore no masks and were covered in soot and filth during the two days of demolition. That's it. Not satisfied. It's been a few years. Perhaps his work practices have changed. But I was unimpressed. read more

Called Tom Leach and was greeted by a courteous receptionist and transferred to manager for service. Phone was immediately answered and arrangements made for a technician to be here within the hour. I had Tom Leach out to my house twice for a bid on a new roof. He assured me that I would be receiving a quote from him for the project. A week went by and I sent him an email. Two weeks went by and I sent another email. I called and left messages - no response. He never responded to my last email message. I hired Tom Leach Roofing approximately 4 years ago for a 1/2 roof and had a great experience. The price was right and no problems at all, $5,000. The crew was easy to work with and it was a seamless experience. Which, is why it is extremely disappointing on all levels to go back to them for a bid on the second 1/2. They quoted more than 2x with a 30% mark up on the roof that is only 800 square feet more. Now, with scheduling and inflation that would seem ok, but when I pressed them for a breakdown of the bid of $11,000 they balked. The receptionist, Hannah was rude and tried to refer me to Whitney who is "out of town all week". I also inquired further about potential repairs being made to the roof while we make necessary repairs to our facia boards and gutters. I eventually asked if Aaron could just give me a call. Here's the emailed response I received: Hi Guenevere, I got a report about your phone call today with Hannah and am quite surprised. Our quote is our quote and we will not break it down. Also because we are 4 months out we are not discounting the cost of any roofs. After the report I got today I honestly am withdrawing the quote based on the call with my employee. Best, Aaron Orthmann I didn't ask for a discount nor did I reject the overall bid of $11,000. I was trying to get them to help me solve my overall roofing issues/repairs that could be made in lieu of the entire job, so I as the customer could make an informed choice. Clearly, they no longer need the business or referrals. Very disappointing attitude and I feel remorseful about having a successful referral to my neighbor who also used them. I had a great experience with Tom Leach Roofing. I had three different roofers come out to give me an estimate to replace the leaky roof on my garage. Aaron from TL was the only one to write me an estimate on the spot. The other two guys never followed up with me or returned my phone calls. No brainer. Aaron came over again to talk about the project and always returned my calls and emails. Juan and the crew were all very nice guys and they explained everything they were doing as they did it. They started and finished the job exactly when they said they would. They helped me replace a rotten ceiling beam that I couldn't access until the roof was removed. They even went over and cleaned up debris from my neighbor's yard when they were done. A couple of days later they came over to add extra flashing to a gap in the front wall, at no extra charge. My experience was pressure by the owner to "get the roof done before the rains"--even though I had concerns about his recommendations. He was kind enough to place a tarp over the area where there was water coming in until I could research the best approach for the type of roof that we had. It turns out that the recommendations by TL Roofing was completely wrong. We already had 2 layers and putting on a third layer was against code. I went with a company that did the correct evaluation and couldn't be happier. When I told the owner that I wasn't going to have the roof done on his timeline, he was quite rude and unprofessional--raising his voice and ultimately hung up. read more

Tom Leach roofing did our roof on Jan 13 and 14. They did a terrific job. The crew was pleasant to work with; many have been with the company for over a decade. The flashing around the chimneys was very well done, as well the other flashing and drip edges. One challenging valley required some expertise that they paid close attention to. This was an architectural grade roof over a 3 tab, for which Aaron discussed the option of a tear off and we decided a second layer would work fine. Aaron is now the owner, taking over the business from Tom Leach for whom he had worked for many years. When the job was done, everything was completely cleaned up, and except for the new roof, one would hardly know they had been there. It took us a while to pick out the color, but they had a list of houses with different colors to look at, which made the choice easier to determine. Having worked in industry, I was also impressed with their safety procedures. PS: I read the negative review from Dec 2015, and had the opposite experience, finding Aaron very professional and knowledgeable. I had Tom Leach tear off 5 layers of old roofing and install my roof about 15 or more years ago. I sought quotes from three different companies and chose Tom Leach. After learning that roofing companies come and go and never stick around, I was glad Tom Leach is a company that's not going anywhere. I asked if they stand behind their work and if they pay their people a living wage, and they assured me they do, and these many years later I know this remains true. They returned to me over the years to give me free check-ups on their installation job on my house. They recommended when I needed to have work done, and almost always did it free of charge. While the original job was not the cheapest, it has held up better than I hoped. Recently I had them give me a quote to add ridge vents, and not only was the quote honored, but they also did extra work and added features and extras free of charge for the original quoted price. Their installer Jorge was a long time employee with skill and pride of work and knowledge whose company and advice were an added bonus. Get quotes from others, but if you don't get one from Tom Leach Roofing, you might be making a mistake. They are one of the best contractors I've ever hired. read more
