I needed a roof replacement so I looked around for bid and Erick came with a very competitive bid so I decided to go with his company. Before work even started, I had a leak and called Erick to see if he can put a tarp on my roof in the meantime. We worked with Tony's roofing to replace our roof over the winter and it went smoothly. Erick was awesome in setting up our initial and follow up quotes and had the paperwork all set up with all our design decisions and in addition a new gutter system. A bit belated review but time gives you a better perspective. Tonys did my roof in SE Portland in July 2021 in the height of a heatwave, temps topped 110.. it was brutal. I would totally have understood if they deferred but a crew of 2 showed up and went to work, it was planned for a crew of 4 but 2 no-showed. Regardless, the other 2 went to work, had to replace about 30% of the roof decking, still finished up on time in two days. Eric the sales rep had suggested a ridge vent instead of metal vents which turned out to be some of the best advice for an upstairs that held heat badly. A year later i noticed several missing shingles on the ridge vent after a storm ( a cosmetic issue, not affecting the roofs ability to shed rain).. immediate response and resolution.a quote from a 'name' roofer we had used previously on another of our houses. Tony's pricing was about 75% of the 'name' company. Tonys crew worked in a safe manner, which was not the case with the 'name' roofing company which had me worried about liability after witnessing a near fall and one worker using his leg as a support for a board he was cutting with a circular saw. read more

We had Tony's Roofing do a full re-roofing, with new venting, fascia repair, and gutters this fall, and I have to say it was the absolute best work we've ever had done on our house. Our roof was so old that it had three layers with skip sheeting, very few vents and a good deal of rot to boot. During the estimation phase, they came out quickly and seemed to be knowledgeable in answering my questions. The estimator was very friendly without being overly sales oriented. I got several quotes and Tony's was competitive: it was slightly lower than others but not too low. The crew started out by removing the roof. It was a huge mess, but they did a great job placing tarps and cleaning up after. I was actually shocked that they could clean up so thoroughly, but they did! After the removal they found a few unexpected things: there was an extra layer of roofing and quite a bit of rot. They sent me photos and info along the way as they found these things, which was nice so it wasn't a surprise when the final bill came. The project foreman was very friendly and easy to talk to throughout the process! I really appreciated this since we had quite a few questions about rot and it was really nice that he was there to talk through and show us what he was seeing. The roofing crew completed the roof install in about a week, and the gutter crew came the week after. The gutter installer was helpful in determining the best drainage locations and was accommodating in making a change to our original estimate. There was a small problem in where one gutter drain was installed, but the crew was super nice about coming back the following week to fix it. These guys were reasonably priced, used quality shingles and were super good at their job. We had 6 guys arrive on time. They removed 2 layers of shingles and 1 layer of shakes. They were literally running. It was quite an ordeal to watch. They had to lay new plywood down and covered it the first day. The second day they arrived early and had the whole roof down by 12:30pm. The neighborhood was all watching amazed at how hard these guys worked. When they were done they picked up every little piece of garbage, cleaned out the gutters and blew the sidewalk and driveway. Really appreciate that fact that Eric/Tony cut out all the sales pitch and just gives honest answer when I do have questions regarding different products. Anyone spending over $10k on house improvement probably already did their due diligence (you deserver to be ripped off if you didn't), so not standing there having the sales trying to pitch you why their product is better is a huge plus -- especially when everyone is busy with work. Scheduling: Easy. Eric/Tony provided a time slot that they are available to work on my roof. To be honest, their work is really gated by the weather, so don't be hard to work with, not their fault if you can't get 3 days of sunshine in Oregon on demand. Work: Clear communication, work fast, and pays attention to details. I have some ply woods that needs to be replaced and Tony gives very clear communication on his suggestion and double/triple checked when I went against his recommendation (because it'll add cost to my final bill). They found a dry rot location, and replaced the whole section as well. They also did a very good job cleaning any of the left over trash/shingles. People: Good, good, and good. Very polite and friendly people. Even apologized for the loud noises when it's not really their problem. TLDR: Great experience with Tony's roofing from beginning to the end. We just had Tony's do a complete tear off, put down plywood over our house's original shiplap, and install all new shingles and flashing. They worked very hard, completing the whole job in just over 2 days, and were very professional while onsite, including their workers taking care to clean up nicely. They also paid close attention to all my special requests around moving bathroom vents, and additional ice-and-water shield for our solar panels. They also recommended additional venting, including a few new soffit vents. When I started this project, I received quotes from 5 different vendors. My approach has always been to get at least 3 quotes, then choose the vendor you like the best, and not solely based on the lowest cost. In this case, I feel I made a great choice with Tony's. There was no 'hard sell' routine or 'arm wrestling' over technical details / specs with the client, as some contractors often do (I'd already done my own fairly extensive research anyway).
