I haven't treated myself to a pedicure in over 10 years and decided to treat myself today. I chose the basic pedicure, $40+tip, and was so disappointed. I dipped my feet in lukewarm water, had baby oil rubbed on my legs for 2-3 minutes (I was there for my feet, I could have easily put baby oil on my legs), and had my toenails painted. In other words, I just paid $48 to leave with the same mildly rough heels I had when I entered and my toes painted with less perfection than my 11 year old granddaughter has done for me in the past. I had my nails done here a day before my birthday. Did a walk-in and was seen right of way. The beautiful lady in charge on my manicure did great she will bring up conversations and asked if I was ok, I liked that about her I told her exactly what I wanted and he she did it even though they didn't have the color I wanted available. I am torn. Went here with my sister in-law. Her pedicure started right on time by a very friendly young lady that did an amazing job. My pedicure started 15 minutes late and when she finally came out of the back room she never said one word to me just talked on her ear phones in a foreign language for at least the 1st half hour. Never told me her name infact she never said anything to me and it was evident she really didn't want to be there. If she didn't speak English that's fine but share that information. Worst manicure ever. I was cut to the point of blood being drawn three times. I do not recommend this place to anyone. The whole shellac manicure ($37) took 15 minutes. I made an appointment days in advance and the staff still acted so put out, rushed, and rude. Because it was so rushed, the woman cut three of my fingers with the cuticle cutters drawing blood each time. I'm going to spend the next few days with bandaids on my fingers instead of enjoying my shellac manicure (that they still had me pay the full overpriced price for after drawing blood). I was very disappointed in my recent experience at Herbal Nails. I was previously a regular customer, but will not be returning for future manicures or pedicures. The employees there were basically harassing me to purchase the more expensive pedicure, and when I repeated what I'd prefer they were very dismissive. I brought my young daughter and requested the kids pedicure, and they again argued for giving her the adult basic pedicure. It was so frustrating that I finally said fine and my daughter became itchy from the scrub they put on her legs, then ignored her when she asked them to remove it. They then told me a charge and switched around the numbers when entering it into the credit card scanner for a higher price. Again, all around disappointing experience, and I will be finding a different location for the future. read more

First timer!! They did a very nice job on my nails however WAY overcharged me...of course at the end of my services! I asked for a basic pedicure with gel polish. The basic is listed for $31. I asked for gel polish instead of the regular. They charged $25 for JUST the gel polish!! I did not want to pay $56 for a basic pedicure!!! That's more than any pedi they have listed!!! And then paid another $31 for just a polish change with gel polish. (Instead of $25 like I did for my feet) They also charged me for swiping my card for payment! I had cash, just not enough because they overcharged me! A total of $91 for a basic pedi and a polish change is ridiculous! Most likely am not returning here! Update- called the manager to complain and was told they do not make prices clear to customers before the service anymore because it's offensive to the customer. Gel french manicure. Pretty disappointed. My nails were left jagged and rough and the skin near the tips of my nails look awful. She cut them in such a way I can already see hang nails developing. I have a strong feeling the edges of my nails will start to fade after a couple days. I'm only granting 2 stars because I'm too quiet and didn't complain while in their salon, so I didn't really allow them to remedy the job. Came here with my sister and mom to celebrate a birthday. Check in was pretty smooth (other than some minor miscommunication about who was getting what service done). It's a nice salon with friendly staff. I had a gel manicure which was very timely and neatly done. I had the "Herbal Manicure" which includes an arm/hand massage but I think I'll skip it next time just simply because it was on the more expensive side of manicures I've gotten and I don't need the massage part. This is why I've removed a star, just for lack of transparency of costs for services. It would be nice to see a sign or a menu of services and their costs so you know how much to expect to pay before getting to the register. A nice touch was the 5% discount for Mayo/Olmsted employees or for those who pay cash. My last reason for removing a star is because my mom was rushed in her last few minutes of her pedicure because there was another party of people apparently waiting for her and my sisters chairs. Definitely takes away from the relaxation factor when that happens. Otherwise we were overall pleased with the results. I will most likely return again but will be asking for a quote on the cost of the service I would like done! read more

Friendly staff Soft music playing and none of the chemical smell so often found in nail salons. Comfortable pedicure chairs with massage. Very clean, with separately wrapped sterilized tools. Both of our nail technicians did a very nice job. We ended up both getting the Spa Manicure Pedicure combination which included a nice massage with warmed oils and lotions. The best nail salon in Rochester (by far)!!! I went to Herbal Nail Spa because my husband won a gift certificate there! I was expecting it to be like the other nail salons in town- but i was very pleasantly surprised. The spa is so nice and clean- brand new, and is decorated beautifully! I had a manicure and pedicure and they came out great and lasted way longer than usual! Really disappointed. I'm from out of town. I told the lady politely a couple of times that the color wasn't "thick enough" and asked her to make it thicker. There was a language barrier and I was ok with that, however when another nail lady came over to "help", she was very rude and didn't listen to anything I was asking for. She told me I would be back in a day or two complaining if the nails started chipping because the color was too thick. I had already explained to her I'm from out of town and would not be back. I then just told her she could take the color off, just forget the nails and I'd pay for my pedicure only. She refused. I have no problem paying for services, but I do have a problem with RUDE employees who do not listen to their customers and bully them into paying for services they're not satisfied with. Very impersonal...2 of the 3 times I have been i have waited in the pedi chair for 20+ minutes before someone came back to do the pedi. Person I was with was done well before I was... Additionally, noticed where the gentleman doing my pedi had scuffed near one of my cuticle areas until it was raw. On the other foot I had a spot that had skin cut off leaving a scab. I was going on a vacation, and wanted to have a girls night with a friend of mine. I had called and made an appointment for us. When we got there, they had a few other people they were working on (Walk-Ins Welcome). My friend and I waited 30 minutes before they were ready to take us. She was getting a pedicure, and I was getting a Shellac manicure. They put her in the pedicure chair and filled up her water and left. I was brought to a station and told to pick out a color. After the beginning process of Shellac, she told me that another employee threw out that color and I needed to choose again. Once another color was picked, the station beside me was getting acrylics, and the gentleman working on a clients nails blew nail dust all over our station. That was disgusting. My shellac had finished, and my friend was still sitting in her pedicure chair (now an HOUR after our "appointment"). I went over and sat by here, and FINALLY someone came over. She expressed how dissatisfied she was at this service, and they were nice enough to give her $10 off. We won't be going back here. If you choose to go, don't bother making an appointment--they won't honor that. It is unfortunate. read more

Always in here and have had great service. Took my bridal party here to get our nails done for the wedding. After explaining several times how I would like my nails done and showing a picture. They still messed them up completely. All I asked for was a shellac square French tip. Long story short they did not do this and they said it was my fault. The only way to fix it was acrylics (which I didn't want in the first place). This was after they filed my nails down too short and filed the edges down so far they made me bleed. They never gave me my full manicure, left one hand with out cleaning my cuticles, have one hand that they knicked that took forever to stop bleeding which they tried to stop my putting a q-tip in acetone over it. Then when it was all done they charged me for having 2 sets of full acrylics, shellac nails and double charged my card. We are still trying to get one charge removed as they double charged most of my wedding party as well. Will never go back again after the way we were treated and how terrible the owner/manager was during it all. She admitted later it was their fault but just told us oh well you pay for all extra time you took from us and our business. read more

I was very happy with my mani/pedi today! There are 4 tiers to the pedicure which start at $40 I believe. I opted for the "Deluxe" which was one step up from the basic and I thought was $45 and a french tip gel nail manicure which I thought was $25. Ended up paying $80, not $70 not including a tip so I was a little caught off guard. It would be nice if the pricing was posted or at least easier to understand. Avoid. Customer service does not exist. A rude and grumpy little man provided the pedicure. I wore a dress and a woman placed a towel on my lap once I was in the chair and the rude man actually pushed the towel between my legs twice - so his entire hand was between my thighs - how inappropriate is that!??? He grumbled about the type of pedicure I wanted (BASIC) and he made fun of the color of polish I chose (too light and not gel.) Those are choices the customer is offered - so if you don't want your customer to have choices, don't offer them! I have gone here many times since they opened, but with this new ownership, I will not be going back. Buh bye. OH, and forget about any sort of discount, it was not offered (Mayo). I have been going here for over 2 years. The reason I come back is 3 main reasons: 1) Everyone is extremely friendly 2) The salon is very clean ~ I like how they have seperate liners for each individual customers' pedicure tub. They still clean the tub, but having the liners you KNOW you have a clean work area. 3) The massages that are part of every pedicure are awesome!! They always make me feel very welcome at Herbal. This is the most AMAZING mani-pedi I have ever had! It is clean, relaxing and has a fantastic staff. There are 4 options of pedis. I got the herbal pedi, it included a sent of my choice for my water, herbal scrub with sugar, hot towels, a mask, hot oil, hot lotion and an hour massage...and of course the actual grooming to the nails and such. I got my nails done three days ago at a DIFFERENT nail salon in Rochester and they turned out horrible absolutely nothing like what I showed in a photo. I was referred to Herbal spa and nail by a coworker and I can tell you I have never ever loved my nails this much. I will never go anywhere else. NEVER AGAIN!!! My co-worker and I went to get a pedi, I brought my service dog with( who I have had in many establishments Rochester and WAS accompanied by a service dog tag.) The lady giving the pedi immediately went to get the owner who immediately came over to where I was already soaking my feet in the chair to let me know that I must leave or put the dog (chihuahua) in the car... mind you that Friday (1-17-14) had a high temp of 9 degrees above 0. I refused to take my service dog out to the car or ruin my night planned with my coworker. The manager made a huge scene in front of everyone in the establishment trying to let me know that " this was not acceptable in her salon, and that she is a business owner who can make these decisions and since she has a sign posted that says "no pets" this should cover service dogs as well. I tried to explain to her the federal laws on service dogs and how the ADA protects the right of a service dog and its owner in any public place. I was very disappointed and would never suggest this place to anyone, horrible experience...The worst part is one of the workers who speaks clear English only stepped in to say something at the very end to the owner to make her understand that she would be breaking many laws if she made me leave..the rest of the time I was in the salon was filled with the Asian workers speaking their native language and looking at me....NOT A GOOD BUSINESS read more
