I like the "spa" side of things - Erica is an AMAZING aesthetician. I come about weekly for various waxing (which is magically painless when she does it) and I have enjoyed her specialized facial tailored to my skin type. I'll go a long distance to get good quality services, but I won't be getting my hair done here again. I like Aveda products and scalp massages during shampooing. Why I won't come back for my cut/colors though is the lack of customer service I received on the salon side of things. After returning 3-4 times and being happy with the stylist I had found a good rapport with, I called to ask if I could move my upcoming appointment sooner. I learned that she had left the salon and moved away. Fine, people move, but I asked "if I showed up for my appointment in 2 weeks would anyone have warned me?" And no one had a good answer. They accommodated me then and I tried a new stylist, and she realized the first one hadn't been writing the various color shades I'd been trying during the year. She did a great job and blended my highlights naturally. Great. New stylist that I'll be happy with. Right? Wrong! Remember how I said I come to see Erica weekly? Well this stylist sees me every time and when I say hi, she just stares blankly as if she hasn't ever seen me before. I tried 3 times to get a bang trim with her, and it could never be worked in. I'm not sure, but I'm betting it would not have been complimentary. All other salons I've gone to over the years say "come on in whenever you need a bang trim and they're free; and if I'm not here, any of the stylists can do it for you". There seems to be way too many hair stylists and there seems to be high stylist turnover. I got lucky at another salon in town, thankfully. With better prices too. I'll drive to see Erica - but I'll get my hair done elsewhere. read more

Had Tammy. She took her time, showed me a new trick and I walked out with a good cut! Going back in a couple weeks for color. Went back and walked out wiser but poorer. Perhaps Tammy can only cut hair. When I went back with photos of what I wanted for color, the same photos I had when I got the cut, I was assured it would and could be done. I had, had this color before. Well, I walked out looking like an Easter Egg. Bright and colorful... No highlights throughout...and stained face, ears and neck. I could have done this bad of job at home and saved $$$$. If you need a cut...I guess you can go there, if you want color RUN AWAY!! read more

Came in to hair studio 52 fir hair cut, style and scalp massage. I got Kim for a stylist and all I can say was that she did a wonderful job. She listened to what I wanted done with my hair. And I got exactly that. My hair didn't get over cut like it usually does at other places. I was very impressed and will be coming back in a couple of weeks for hair color and highlights :D read more

Britney was amazing!! I gave her pretty vague ideas that I wanted. I haven't had my hair done like 7 months so she was in for a challenge!! She did such an amazing job!!! I'm so happy with my new hair. When she was washing it she gave the BEST scalp massage and did it for a long time!! It felt soooo good!!! She also had really good conversation with me during the whole appointment. She curled my hair after and it looks super cute! I've been coming here for 6+ years from nails to eyebrows to hair. Although I wouldn't recommend the salon for nails, I absolutely love going here for my hair. They're truly the only salon I trust with my hair! I recently started seeing Donald because he is absolutely phenomenal at what he does. He gave me insightful information on how to upkeep my red hair and offered products to look into to make it stay red. Which last time I dyed my hair red with another stylist there, it lasted 2 months - but with how he did it and through his recommendations, the color didn't fade until after 5 months. Donald truly cares about his customers and is a friendly face I look forward to seeing every visit there. read more

I have not been to any other spas or hair salons in Rochester, nor do I care to try any now that I've found this place. It is fab. Classy, professional, and the perfect place to go for pampering. Not for your cheap cuts. Hair cut comes with a delicious scalp massage. Aaaah. It was also one of the best cuts I've had. I only get my hair cut once a year and I like to really make it count. I used one of the spa packages here and I felt like the price was very reasonable considering I got a manicure, pedicure, facial, massage, and paraffin wax for my hands. It was such a dreamy experience I briefly considered becoming a member of their spa services club... before I remembered I have student loans to pay. read more

I will start by saying the good, which is I loved my color results. However that's really my only real positive worth noting. I've gone home with color still on my forehead and around my temples that she didn't wash off. I've sat through numerous conversations that are strictly about the stylist. I know all about her ex-husband and her daughter and after having to reschedule after getting into a car accident on the way, she didn't even ask if I was okay or what happened at my rescheduled appointment. I'd been with the same gal, and I requested one of the more experienced ones, and she really could have cared less who was in her chair. She stares at herself in the mirror, talks about herself. The ladies who have chairs near her were easier to talk to than the lady doing my hair was. I desperately wanted to reschedule with the lady a chair over but it's a bit awkward to go to the same salon for two years and switch to someone else. On top of it, I never knew how she wanted my hair when I came in. I usually would schedule Saturday am so I'd go in figuring she'll wash my hair first, only to have judgmental looks as if I need to be all entirely done up on a Saturday am just to have her wash my hair AGAIN. One time I went to the gym, showered and came in.. my appointment was at 7:30pm or sometime later at night. I didn't wear makeup because I'd be going to bed, and my hair was still air drying from the shower. She had the audacity to say she thought I had greasy hair when she saw me come in! I found that incredibly offensive! And, even though I'd literally JUST got out of the shower she washed my hair again. I rarely for major haircuts, just a quick trim that she'd do at the end. Why wash again, just to blow dry it, color it and then wash for a third time in like 3 hours?! After two years I finally stopped going. The judgmental looks and comments from my stylist along with the complete vapidness and self-absorption were no longer worth the high cost to come here. I'm really bummed because there were other women who worked here that I think I would have loved to have do my hair, just feels a little taboo. Pretty disappointed that Hair Studio 52 operates for "high end clientele" and doesn't seem to be for the average woman just trying to get a cut and a balayage. read more

Visiting from Cincinnati, my husband and I both scheduled men's facials for the day of our wedding. Miranda was highly skilled at doing the facials and massage - although it was my first facial ever, it felt so good I plan to schedule one monthly in the future. Service was so good I decided to get a trim while waiting for my husband, which turned into more of a full haircut. Sara Lynn was fun and professional, squeezing me in without an appointment! All in all a great experience, and we received numerous compliments at the wedding. I regret not being able to commute to Hair Studio 52 from Cincinnati (700 mi away) ;) read more

I love massages with Jenna! She's the best! However, my husband purchased a gift card for me for a 4 1/2 hour pampering experience. I can't book it all together until April! I shouldn't have to wait 4 months. They are able to break it up into 2 different days, but that defeats the purpose! Also, one of the items listed on this experience and advertised on their website as part of the value isn't done any longer...even though it's still listed! Plus, the receptionist was awful and had to keep asking the manager questions. So frustrated! read more

I had a facial today with Angela and it was amazing! This was my first facial so I didn't really know what to expect, but everything she did felt great and my skin looks and feels so healthy now! She made me feel really comfortable and really helped me understand my skin better and what I should and should not be using on my skin. Everyone was friendly and they have Aveda products which is always a plus for me. I will definitely be coming back to Angela for more facials, etc! read more
