I needed to have some switches and new recessed lights installed at my house as well as a spa disconnected. Rocky arrived on time and was very professional. He keeps many of the necessary supplies on his truck which means he's spending time on site doing the work rather than going back and forth to a supply house for parts. I know some folks are put off by the minimum trip charge that electricians and plumbers charge when they show up to your house, but I think Herbert and Sons fees are very resonable considering that they show up with all of the necessary equipment to get the job done right the first time. He is fair in his price, but also that the work is being done up to code and most importantly, providing safety to our family. Fidelity National Home Warranty Insurance, my Home Warranty Company denied a claim based on "improper electrical" per the licensed electricians findings as follows: Failure: Check power in several places of the house. There is an overload to sub breaker. This breaker provides power to sub panel in the garage. The sub breaker burned out. The wire that provides power to this sub panel is under size. For the load the home has, need to upgrade the breaker to 125A and upgrade the wire to #2 gauge to address issue. Rocky, from Herbert & Son's was the electrician who added a 240 outlet to charge my Tesla. He added a breaker to my sub panel tied to the main panel breaker where eventually both wiring and breaker burned. Just to be sure of the Warranty Companies findings, I called a second licensed electrician who independently came to the same conclusion. I contacted Rocky on August 7, 2018, to advise him of the situation. We texted back and forth and Rocky gave various excuses and I repeatedly stated two licensed electricians "independently" told me the same cause citing the breaker associated with the Tesla charging was not done proper/within code. Specifically, the main panel had a breaker feeding into sub panel with a #6 wire requiring no more than 60 amps but Rocky installed a 70 amp breaker. The electrical components tied with this breaker was not just the Tesla 240 outlet but other sources and eventually the wire and breaker burned because it they were overloaded. I have attempted to work with Rocky but it is now August 16th and when I recently asked Rocky why he has stopped communicating, he told me, "Sorry I've been busy." I'm a busy person too and I don't want to waste any more of my time. read more

This was our first experience with a contractor and Rocky and his crew were highly recommended. They were very thorough, on time and professional. had some continuing electric problem, stemming from prior work. Rocky came out I think 4-5 times. yesterday he was on the phone with fan company trying to straighten the whole nightmare out. he could have easily skipped that, he could have easily told me that i needed some massive rewiring or whatever of my entire house to fix the problem..but he didnt. hopefully the fan problem is done. he was so funny and professional. i didnt get ripped off..my problem is solved. i will definitiely use them again if i have other electrical issues. top notch read more

The answering service for this company is excellent, it was easy to set up an appointment. They are very busy, and I scheduled for a quote for a month away but unfortunately no one showed up at the scheduled two-hour time window. I called to inquire and 45 minutes later got a call from the technician that he had no reception to inform us of his delay and is on his way and will be there in another 45 minutes. We had to cancel because of other engagements. Although we can't comment on his work but considering that he is so busy, we may try to reschedule at a future date and update review. read more

I had a dead short that took out a hospital bed, clocks and a TV. I had just replaced my HVAC system. So I called Family Air and Jerry the Owner came out early the next morning to check it out. He Called Rocky and he showed up a couple of hours later and found and fixed the problem, at a very reasonable price. Excellent service! I had Rocky come out and upgrade my main panel. All the breakers I had are over 50 years old and some will not reset. I was replacing my roof and the service mast was needed to be relocated so it wasn't over the patio cover. His pricing was very fair and the professionalism was superb. I've used him a few times before for a few minor jobs. This was a pretty big job and he didn't stop when it started raining. Who works on electrical stuff when it rains??? I like how he drives a fully stocked truck and never had to leave to pick up needed parts. This made it possible to wrap up the project quickly so I was able to finish my project. We are so pleased with the recommendation of the Whole House fan system Rocky had sold and installed at our residence. On cool evenings we open a few windows and our upstairs temperature will drop up to 10 degrees in less than 15 minutes allowing us to run the AC less and lower our electricity bills drastically over the summer. Rocky also recommended turning the fan on in the mornings to cool the attic which in turn keeps the house cooler with the rising temperatures throughout the day. I highly recommend a whole house fan to any home owner, and these guys did an exceptionally clean installation and Rocky gave us several options and speed controls on the fans that the manufacturer does not even suggest as an option. I wish I knew how to rate a half star and that would be because he showed up. Unfortunately this company did not meet my expectations. I was told over the phone that and inspection was 300.00 and an after hour estimate was 59.00 well I definitely over paid because I got a inspection done and he emailed me a estimate. Not only was the work impeccable and the cost reasonable, but the customer service was amazing. We remodeled our garage, turning it into a home gym, and needed some outlets and new light fixtures installed. We purchased the light fixtures and had a particular layout we wanted to have them installed, but we really have no experience with this type of work. When Rocky came to our home for the inspection, he made sure that our electrical box was sufficient, that we'd get the power we needed for all of our gym equipment and that our proposed layout was really right for the space. His recommendations as to layout and power needs were fantastic. Also, at the time our son was barely two months old, which Rocky found out on the initial inspection. When our scheduled installation date came around, we got a call from Rocky letting us know that someone in his family had come down with a bad cold and wanted to make sure we knew in case we wanted to reschedule so as to avoid possibly getting our son sick. It was extremely thoughtful of him and we were happy to reschedule to avoid that. On the reschedule date, Rocky and his crew arrived on time, worked efficiently and cleaned up all of their tools and debris before leaving. My mother had an outlet that caught fire so I called and asked if they could send someone the next afternoon. Rocky called back right away. I explained that I would have to meet him at my mom's because she is elderly and gets confused. He asked me what time I could get there and arranged his schedule around me. When he met my mother he immediately assessed he situation and went to extra lengths to make sure she would be okay. He replaced the outlet, checked the breaker box, asked if the smoke alarm went off when the outlet smoked then checked it to be sure it was working. He even wiped off the black around the outlet. When he left my mother wasn't able to plug her fan into the outlet. I called Rocky and he came right back to check it. It was just hard because it was new so he loosened up the holes, plugged in the fan and turned it on. Happy mom. Happy me. I did have a bit of trouble. He said he emailed me my receipt from his tablet. It didn't arrive in my email so I had to ask him a few times to resend. He did. read more

We had a lot of recessed lighting installed by Herbert and Sons when we purchased our home in 2005. They arrived on time, did excellent electrical work, clean up was great, they're very personable, professional and trustworthy. I work from home and Rocky and his crew were very considerate about the noise level and interruptions while working. Other contractors have left black fingerprints on our white ceilings when getting into the attic and Rocky and his crew have no problem at all when I ask them to wash their hands when they arrive - they get it and are extremely accommodating when you request things like this. We've had them back several times since 2005 to install ceiling fans, smoke detectors and additional lighting throughout the house. The trucks are always supplied with parts and equipment needed to complete the job and they work very efficiently. During this last visit before any sawing was done in the ceiling Rocky placed round stickers on the ceiling to give me a visual for where the lights would be placed. He also noticed that our smoke detectors were outdated, which was on the "honey-do" list. He gave me a price and they were installed during the same visit, which was awesome! The communication is excellent throughout the process as they want to ensure that you're more than satisfied with their work. With every visit back to our home, Rocky and his crew are consistently on time, professional and the work is thorough and top-notch. It's very easy to talk with them to explain what you want, they make good recommendations and suggestions without any pressure, they go out of their way to do nice things for their customers and they walk into your home with a smile and positive attitude. They've stood the test of time and their track record is definitely consistent - I would very highly recommend Herbert and Sons to anyone who needs electrical work.
