Dr. Withers is absolutely fantastic: she is caring, straightforward, supportive of my health goals, and gives me concrete advice about weight loss, eating with an eye toward the best possible nutrients for continuing to keep cancer out of my life, how to reduce stress, etc. I have never left her office feeling like I've been talked at, but that I've had an actual conversation. It's refreshing. Dr. Withers is also very quick to respond to questions via email, and calls me in a very timely manner with regard to test results, etc. She has a great bedside - well, in my case, I suppose chairside, manner - both gentle but not nonsense, and is comfortable discussing either alternative therapies (she recently recommended an acupuncturist for my migraines) or traditional medicine (i.e., she sent me to a great oncologist to stay on top of my twice-yearly visits to make sure I'm still cancer-free). I really enjoy my visits with her - not that they're all that often, but you know, I usually kind of dread going to the doctor. I don't dread going in for a visit with her at all - she's great. If you need a primary care physician, I absolutely recommend her.

She's an amazing, attentive and responsive doctor. The woman previously who reviewed Her was essentially writing on behalf of her husbands account of his visit. I don't think that's very fair as you can't accurately review a place on behalf of someone else's experiences. Especially something as personal as a doctor. I think the previous reviewer should let her husband review her. Not that I feel the need to defend her, because her work and stands alone as enough of a positive reputation but I realized I had not reviewed her yet and that people needed to get the true review of her ability. During my first visit with her, I too, like the negative reviewer, wanted blood work and a full check up. I have no idea what the previous reviewer is talking about, but I felt like Dr. Withers thoroughly got to understand who I was, any health concerns and all of my future health goals and my family history. My first appointment was at least 30 minutes ( you schedule appointments based on what you want done) and she scheduled a blood panel in accordance with a combination of my concerns and that which she deemed necessary. Insurance isnt such that you can just tell the doctor you want it to check 500 things and they do that. Insurance will only cover certain blood tests in a standard screening. A typical blood screening will cover a handful of key items and then if they find anything of concern, they check those after. To say a doctor is condescending if they don't test you for 25 superfluous things because they think they know better than you makes no sense. Chances are incredibly high if you aren't a doctor.... THEY know better than you. How pissed would you be if you scheduled all those blood tests but your insurance wouldn't cover them and some curious blood test for you turns into $1000 bill from QUEST. Anyway, any time I email Dr. Withers she is incredibly responsive to email (within an hour generally) and she knows me well enough now we are able to both chat personally and makes me feel comfortable enough to ask even seemingly embarrassing questions. When she isn't available (very few few times) she always has a recommendation for another doctor in the office and the doctor is NEVER clueless about me when I come in since Dr. Withers takes impeccable notes. I always feel like she gives me every minute of my appointment never ever trying to rush me out. If I have 15-20 minutes, she will answer every related medical question, every unrelated to my visit medical question , and if there is time, we chat about books or cooking. After all that, she's so patient and answers questions so thoroughly and always always asks me if I have any other concerns. I am so happy with her, I've never had such a great doctor.

I find him to be extremely thorough and really up to date on all things medicine. What I truly admire about him is his reluctance to treat you with drugs. His approach to medicine is that your body should try to heal itself first and if it really can't, then he'll prescribe you medicine. Every time he's ever given me a script he's accompanied it with, "Wait a week before you fill it to see if you get better on your own." His personality is a bit dry but take that with a grain of salt. He's not supposed to be your mom nor treat you like his child. He will take your phone call at any time which shows how much he cares - this is not a policy held by most doctors these days given that time is money to them and you can't bill insurance for time spent on the phone. That alone shows you the type of man he is. Every referral he's ever given me has been great (and covered by insurance). More importantly, the doctors whom he has referred me to have a deep respect for him. Peer respect in medicine is telling. All in - he's a doctor that I can see myself going to for a long time. I just sent my fiance to him today if that tells you anything.

If I did not currently live in North Carolina I would go back to him in a heartbeat. He truly is an amazing top quality brilliant, kind, caring internist. Now if only he took my insurance he'd be perfect, but this is one expense that I'm willing to eat given we get this one life and can't expect any pockets to carry the cash forward. He has early hours and loves life so takes off his Fridays. Like we all should. I had a physical there in June and another visit a couple of weeks ago because I had some additional medical issues. In both of these appointments, the treatment I received from Dr. Chung was awful, and came nowhere near the standard of care one would expect from their primary care physician. Your health and wellbeing are so important - which is why it's so important that you never become a patient of Dr. Chung's. On my first visit, the annual physical, Dr. Chung spent a total of 4 minutes in the room if I'm being generous. After going through the regular PCP motions, he asked me if I had any questions or concerns about my health, of which I had a few and wanted to ask him about. But when I did attempt to ask him about each of these concerns, he rebuffed me, saying he didn't have time to address them and that I would need to make another appointment to address these issues. At probably every doctor's visit I've ever had in my life, the doctor asks if you have any further questions or concerns. Whenever I replied, all of the doctors tried to address my questions and concerns in some way - a little advice, a prescription, a referral, etc. - until this appointment with Dr. Chung. I was stunned, and I still am. So I made a follow-up appointment and had it a few weeks ago, in which I wanted to talk about 4 concerns, 3 of which I put in the notes in the request for the appointment, so that the doctor would know exactly what I was coming in for. Though I won't reveal the exact medical issues, I could've told you before the appointment that what I needed for each of them was a referral to a specialist. When I showed up to that appointment, however, Dr. Chung started the conversation by saying, "There's no way we're going to get through all of these issues. I have time for maybe 2." When I asked why we couldn't get through all the issues, he said that he just didn't have time to get through them all in one appointment. He then told me - again - that another appointment would be needed to address the other 2 issues. So, once Dr. Chung's primary goal had been achieved -- negotiating down the number of my issues he was going to address so that he could force me to have to come back and get to bill for another appointment -- Dr. Chung finally started working on what is the primary goal for every other doctor, but only the secondary goal for him: figuring out the best way to treat my medical problems. Sure enough, when Dr. Chung actually allowed me to speak and tell him about each of these problems, he quickly agreed that each issue had to be addressed with a referral to a specialist. Dr. Chung actually spent almost the entire appointment on his computer searching for the doctors in my plan's network that he refers patients to. In total, he probably spent about 15 minutes with me in the room, but it was spent searching for 3 doctors who his office apparently refers patients to all the time. On the second doctor, whose name Dr. Chung couldn't remember, I started to search myself in order to speed things up so that there would be a chance of addressing more of my issues. I found the doctor he was thinking of on ZocDoc within 30 seconds. So, despite his best efforts, Dr. Chung actually was able to issue 3 referrals instead of just 2. To add icing to the cake, one of the specialists he referred me to has moved and no longer works at the practice, so I will have to get a different referral for that one, too. For the last issue - which I guarantee will simply require a referral to a specialist - I would have to make another appointment - again, not because the medical issues need more time to address than can be fit in a single visit, but because of ineptitude with a basic computer function. Thankfully for me and my health, I will not allow him to pull the same trick again. Dr. Chung provides an unacceptably poor level of care. Whatever you do, don't trust him with your healthcare.

From the very first visit, he took my concerns seriously--even when I wasn't sure they were valid myself. He listened carefully, examined me thoroughly, and clearly cared about finding the root cause. He ordered the appropriate tests, explained everything in a way I could understand, and reassured me that we would figure things out together. Because he works with NYU Langone, I was able to get imaging scheduled very quickly. At every follow-up, he was thoughtful, thorough, and proactive, even personally helping me get an urgent neurosurgeon referral when it was necessary. Thanks to Dr. Rosenthal's diligence and compassion, I had a successful surgery and have been given a new lease on life. I truly believe that if it weren't for him taking my case seriously, I could be in a much worse situation. I feel incredibly grateful to have him as my neurologist and highly recommend him. Office Feedback: The wait time is usually 0-5 mins which is super rare for a lot of doctor's offices. They are also very responsive to voicemails and always call back if unavailable. He is charismatic, pleasant, knowledgeable, obviously has a lot of experience under his belt, helpful, practical, and on the same wave length agreeing with me that the less medication, the better. But as soon as I had something of a serious nature for the first time in my life, he for some reason is not able to accept my complaints as valid. And he breaks one of the rules of doctoring which is to believe the patient's complaints! He has actually for the past seven months been denying that what I describe as my symptoms are happening! This is the logical extension of his sunny disposition. I remember now that he has often been that way. I once told him that after wearing a heart monitor for 13 days, the result was first degree heart block. He said, "Oh, that's nothing!" My stepdaughter told him he had a spot on her lung of 0.5 centimeter. He said, "Oh, that's nothing!" And I remember how in past years, I always leave his office feeling better than when I came. But the day came seven months when I presented with a serious condition, and he has persisted and persisted since in saying, "Oh, that's nothing. It's all in your mind." (He has actually told me that the main thing wrong with me is my mind. I learned that that is called "gaslighting.") And I know that isn't true, and I know he is wrong. And if this same thing happens to you, you should be apprised that that is the day you must make a decision--whether to continue to put yourself in danger or to part ways.

He is a very positive and charismatic person as well, which is especially helpful when dealing with health issues, whether physical or mental. What I truly appreciate is that he addresses concerns without judgement or creating unnecessary panic. He is always prompt, especially in really important urgent matters, even on weekends, when no one else can be reached. He's attentive, and never makes you feel rushed during appointments. He genuinely listens, explains things clearly, and approaches patients with both professionalism and compassion. Over the years he also helped me get necessary tests that were outside of the scope of regular ones. I'm very grateful to have found such an amazing PCP in nyc and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor who truly cares. Busy offices might not always be perfect, there's an occasional wait here and there, because he has lots of patients, but his assistant Orlando has been very helpful, as well as other staff.
