Had a bagel in the deli yesterday, this morning I am upstairs in what they call River's End, at night a speakeasy but on Saturday and Sunday an awesome brunch place! Ambiance is great, with some light jazz playing in the background, service was wonderful (Rosie was my server) and the food was spectacular!! Find Galvin's Deli walk in take an immediate right, another right, open the door and walk up stairs, you won't regret it!! Plan to come back and try the speakeasy out in the near future! Went today for the second time and tried their bacon egg and cheese bagel and my husband got the salmon lox bagel. Our order took a long time, I think the cashier was also the one preparing the food. I get you don't have staff but it doesn't seem feasible or very deli like. If I was trying to come here before work you need at least 15-20 mins. The bagel was stale and dry, my jaw popped while eating it. I had to take half of the bagel off to eat it. It honestly was a little flavorless. The salmon lox was inedible and ultimately thrown away. I had gone back in April and got a bacon egg and cheese on a roll and it was soft and loaded with eggs. It still took a long time for my food. I wonder if any of these NY inspired delis have ever been/worked/ate at a deli in NY because my experiences rarely resemble NY. read more

We had lunch at Galvin's Deli and it's the real deal! The corned beef sandwich was great, big enough to split, with fresh tender cuts of meat and wonderful flavor. The potato salad was good too. It's a nice deli atmosphere with good service. Try it out! read more

I finally had a chance to dine at Galvin's this weekend! My friend is gluten free, and after hearing they had gluten free bread we decided to head there for lunch. The GF bread was a huge hit! My friend wants to know the brand bc it's like the best GF bread she's tried. She said the chicken salad was very good, but wasn't sure how she felt about the pickles. She didn't dislike them, but couldn't decide if she liked them or not. I got... I can't remember the name, but the grief chicken cutlet in Kaiser roll, with pickles, hot honey and pimento cheese. I did have to do that they best the pimento cheese up. I will never understand who is requesting all of this cold pimento cheese that is everywhere. IT MUST ALWAYS BE HOT! My sandwich was delicious, the pimento cheese was good, but not as good as another restaurant downtown, which shall remain nameless. THE FRIES WERE EVERYTHING! They're fried in beef tallow and that should be a law. Fries should only be fried in beef tallow, unless it's McDonald's fries bc those fries can do no wrong. I would come back for the fries alone. They offer a selection of signature sandwiches, melts, frankfurters, homemade salads, tallow fries, soups, kids meals, and sweet treats. The prices are moderate. They offer combo upgrades, add side/soup & cooler drink to any sandwich. I stopped by Galvin's for lunch takeout recently. I ordered the Pimento Chicken Cutlet ($15.99 plus tax) and added a pasta salad and a can of Dr. Brown's Root Beer (+$4 plus tax). My food was all set in 10 minutes. The sandwich was comprised of a big breaded crispy chicken cutlet topped with pimento cheese spread, hot honey and pickles on a Kaiser bun. The chicken cutlet was bigger than the bun. The pasta salad had firm gemelli pasta, red onion, peppers in an oil based dressing. Washing down my big pimento chicken sandwich and pasta salad with a refreshing cold root beer was total satisfaction. read more

Visited the new deli downtown. Everything was fine. The sandwiches were normal (maybe a little larger than regular but not by much). I had a side that I cannot even remember what it was - yeah that meh. But it didn't suck and I would go back except for the cost. Good golly Miss Molly. Two sandwiches with two sides and two drinks was just over $55. YIKES!! I know you have to pay for quality. I get that. But more than $25 a head for lunch? Again, I say: YIKES. I have been waiting to try this spot and would really like to see them succeed here. The sandwich is fine, but a few things might make it great. The "rye" bread is buttered and toasted and really doesn't need to be. Also the bread is lacking flavor. Maybe a marbled rye or a darker rye would be better. The sauerkraut had no taste and the corned beef was very mild. I am not a fan of spicy food, but this was lacking flavor I was seeking. The seating area is nice. The service is helpful. Restaurant is clean and comfortable in temperature, which is so important here in humid summers. I like the choice of many soft drink canned beverages that came with my combo order. The portion size is enough for sharing for those with average appetite. I'm saving my matzoh ball soup for dinner. Good luck here. I'll be back to try other things. read more

If you like a good Ruben sandwich, Galvin's is where you need to go. Greeted with a friendly smile and pleasant attitude. The food was fabulous, too. Had the pastrami ruben, tallow fries, and a cookie. The ruben is probably the best in town. The fries were good, and the cookie was a great way to finish off the meal. Oh, and their pickles are worth the visit by itself. There was a slight hiccup during my visit, in which the team was very apologetic and handed it with the utmost professionalism. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have mentioned it, except their handling of it worth noting. What happened? They have gone down hill since they opened. First, always double check your to-go-order. They consistently forget one of your items. Second, the quality of their food has dropped like a rock. The meat (pastrami and corned beef) has been dried out and flavorless. I threw my last sandwich out it was so bad. Had the frankfurter and it was good! Enjoyed it with grainy mustard and ketchup. The homemade potato salad is delicious and tried the Rueben and the meat was melt in your mouth and service was great! Also had the chicken salad, super fresh and tasty. Will be back. read more

Haven't been to Galvin's in a long time. They used to make good pastrami. We got pastrami today, 3/3/26. Some of the worst food I've ever had. Tough as shoe leather. You couldn't chew it. Best bagels in the berg. If you have a larger order you'll need to give them a day or so notice as they only make small batches. Totally exceptional. Their menu, while simple is very well thought out and clearly made of high quality ingredients; everything is made fresh. Beats anything from here to NYC that I've ever had. The value just wasn't there for me. I paid about $20 for a lunch combo to go (cold sandwich, side of pasta salad, and canned soda). It seemed a bit steep, but i hoped the quality would make it worthwhile. The tuna salad sandwich was fine, nothing wrong with it but nothing that would make me want to order it again. The tuna salad needed seasoning, and it would have been nice to maybe have some lettuce and tomato on it (I don't know if that could have been added without extra cost, I guess I assumed it would come with it and certainly wasn't asked if I wanted it). The pasta salad was boring, in desperate need of a dash of salt and some vinegar/dressing. While it did seem like they probably use quality ingredients, it was all really lacking in flavor. And it took them well over 10 min to make the sandwich despite there being only one person (also a small order) in front of me. The server was very nice, but the food was not worth the price for me and I'm unlikely to go back. read more
