WOW, I have had a great start with the services offered by these guys…read more I was looking to switch vets, due to moving...and this office is literally around the corner from me.I had not been officially seen by the vet, had gotten all my paperwork from the previous vet, BUT a week before our 1st official visit, my dog develops hives, and NOT just a few...they said come on over, bring the paperwork, and saw me..and I'm not the average dog owner, I'm a bit picky...do a lot of reading, question every thing, my dogs are my heart..they made me feel like I'd ALWAYS been there. I had tje official visit and have nothing but praise for office staff, Drs Kris and Parks, vet techs, all were FABULOUS! The kicker was, Clinton had a lyme vaccinec developed a strange swelling under jaw, I had emailed and asked about this, and within minutes got an email back...NOW I Thought I'd been talking to Dr Kris...and went into this long explanation cause he developed hives again after I had taken him in for the official visit, THE next email I got was from Kris the OFFICE MANAGER... I had to laugh,,, cause she encouraged me to call and leave a message, and that I should bring him in...but she was going to put the correspondance in his chart, and make sure that someone saw it...this was all after hours....SO, in my book, that iced the cake... SO VERY GLAD to have chosen EAST SIDE VET TO CARE for MY furbabies! !!

Their dog was older and having some issues breathing on and off that previous vets in CA were dismissive of/couldn't figure out. We brought Quincy to Spring Glen and had a great experience with the vet. It was a friendly, efficient appointment with a referral to Central Animal Hospital for what ended up being a correct diagnosis by Spring Glen that needed surgical intervention. Spring Glen didn't even charge us for that visit! Years later, after Covid, we welcomed another dog to the family. If you remember how many families got dogs during that time and how it created an extreme demand on vet offices we were prepared for a long wait and hard time finding a vet taking new patients for Pip. Despite Quincy passing years before and therefore not being active patients anymore, Spring Glen welcomed us back despite the insanely full schedule. It's now been a couple years and we have zero complaints. Dr. Mags is so thorough and informative while being chatty and friendly. They're upfront and fair with billing and do a great job of explaining the pros/cons of anything discussed. Spring Glen reminds us of our favorite vet from decades ago in CA before they got bought out by one of the big franchises :-( Welcoming, informative, and fair.

Extremely intelligent doctors. I'm here for school only but I wish that there was a vet like this in my town. Hands down incredible people. Extremely cost efficient as well. Long story short. I have called this vet multiple times. And every time I call the doctor is NEVER IN. I am always told to leave a message or to call back the day after. Why is this when this is a veterinary hospital? My questions are never answered on the day of. And it is a runaround to try and get any information from any of the medical providers in this office. This is the third veterinary practice I've been to in the past year. The first was a clinic took part in killing my first cat, the second clinic put my cat down because of the diabetic shock from the first vet and the medical malpractice/ information I was given. This third vet seems to be promising. However, I can never get a hold of anybody except the receptionist who tells me they're leaving messages all the time for the doctors

So I was a tad worried having to leave Animal Medical Care because they merged with the VCA. But I…read moredon't think I had to have been that worried. Although it did take a full 2 hours for my appointment to be finished, I felt like the time management was the only issue with the establishment. At the moment I know with covid it has been very hard to find workers and a lot of businesses have been slow because of that so I'm not going to take a star away because of that. My parents adopted a stray cat from Louisiana on their vacation and we were hoping to see doctor Matz as she was our doctor at Animal Medical Care. We were pretty sure she was a female, we weren't sure if she was fixed or if she was pregnant or if she just had a lot of worms, we didn't know her age or anything because she was picked up off the street. We weren't going to be able to see dr. Matz for a month-and-a-half out because she was so booked. It's very unfortunate that I can't see my main doctor for a pretty important thing when you get a new animals, and because of my OCD and anxiety and not knowing any of the other doctors I wasn't entirely sure if I wanted to see a different doctor so I booked her. But then our new cat started having a lot of fleas and we had to quarantine her because worms were just falling out of her at all times. After she was home for two weeks and it was still a month before seeing dr. Matz, we decided to call back and make an appointment as soon as possible with someone else because we couldn't wait any longer. We had a small chat with Norm, and then Patty and dr. Smith came in and gave our cat all the shots they needed. These two doctors were extremely helpful and very kind, personable and nice. If you are coming from Animal Medical Care, and you don't know what doctor you would like to have, try out dr. Smith because she is very nice.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with VCA Cheshire Animal Hospital and, as a result,…read moreI will never use another VCA facility again. My young dog began repeatedly vomiting and was unable to keep down food or water. I called VCA Cheshire immediately, expecting my primary veterinary office to help determine the best course of action. Instead, I was told they were overbooked and could not see him. I was directed to VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Shelton. At no point during that conversation was it made clear that I was being referred to an emergency hospital or that doing so would affect my VCA CareClub benefits and insurance coverage. Had that been explained, I would have explored other VCA locations or non-emergency veterinary hospitals that could have provided the same diagnostics while remaining covered under my plan. After arriving in Shelton, we waited approximately six hours for basic diagnostics--a blood panel and abdominal X-rays. Ultimately, no definitive diagnosis was made. We were told there "might" be material in his stomach. Still, no obstruction could be confirmed, and the recommendation was simply to monitor him at home and return for additional testing if he did not improve. The bill exceeded $1,500, with 75% required before treatment, despite there being no definitive diagnosis or treatment beyond fluids and anti-nausea medication. While I understand emergency veterinary medicine is expensive, I expect clear communication and informed decision-making rather than common advice. Instead, after 6 hours of waiting, I left feeling that I had been sent into an unnecessarily expensive situation when non-emergency would have provided the same results on a similar time frame What disappoints me most is the lack of communication. If VCA Cheshire had explained that the referral was to an emergency specialty hospital that would not be covered by my CareClub plan, I could have made an informed decision. Instead, I was left flabbergasted in Shelton with an unexpected bill and a recommendation to spend even more money on additional testing. This experience has completely eroded my trust in VCA. My immediate family owns multiple dogs, 12 in total, and after this experience, none of us intend to use VCA hospitals or insurance programs in the future. I hope VCA improves communication with pet owners, so others do not experience the same situation, but given their reputation and their sarcastic responses to other reviews, I doubt it. Do yourself a favor: go to anyone else who actually has your and your pet's best interests at heart rather than your wallet. This company is a disgrace to the profession. A zero is not low enough.
