None had my size or even offered to help me find exactly what I was looking for. Not only did this shop have just about every style and color of hats, they also had custom sizing available! This is a big deal with hats when you have a noggin my size. The store owner not only searched through his entire inventory to find me the exact style I was looking for, but resized (steam treated and stretched) the hat until it was a perfect fit. This place is amazing. There is a huge selection of any style hat you could want. Especially cowboy hats. I'm from Texas and have been away for 10 years now. One of the little things I miss, is the ability to find a really nice cowboy hat. Until I found Heritage Hats. Anything you could want from straw, or black felt, to a silver belly is here. Not to leave out all the fedoras, and panamas you could possibly want. The owner is just as amazing as his selection. He was not pushy at all. He let us browse a bit, then simply asked us what we were shopping for in particular. He then pointed us in the right direction and gave us a couple suggestions. My new straw Panama hat was caught by a gust of wind and it landed in the road and a car ran over it. Everybody said to go to Heritage so I did. The guy was rude and said you can't steam a straw hat. I though this was odd since half my western hats are straw and I get them fitted when buy them back in California. They always use steam there. I told him I didn't expect miracles could he try and he refused. So I went back to the motel and borrowed a steam iron and it looks great. read more

I recently took my grandfather's hat to Heritage to have it cleaned. My grandfather passed on nearly 25 years ago and he wore this tweed hat everyday in the winter in Chicago. The hat was very old and very dirty and I was nervous about having it cleaned. Heritage cleaned it up very well and it looks great. I plan to hang it on the wall in my office. I'm willing to bet this is one of the best hat cleaning shops in the country. Take your hats here for cleaning and shop around for something new too. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have many hats baseball and western. but I was looking for a different style. when i walked in I was greated by Rich the owner and asked if if needed help, I told him I was looking for a Fedora or Panama style and said right this way I figured he might have a couple I was surprised to find a whole room. it took me an hour just to look and try on different styles. when I could find my Rich was right there and dug out just what I needed. the prices are great also. I found Heritage Hats on a web search preceeding our family vacation to Arizona; it was the first stop from the airport enroute to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. It is the largest, and best, left with hat shop I have seen. Rich was a graciuos host to our children as I wandered and enjoyed his large inventory of quality hats. Rich is a nice man who knows his product and is not pushy or stingy with his time or experience. I chose an Akubra "Territory" and Rich trimed 1/2 inch from the brim. We proceeded to enjoy a winter week in Arizona. Our return to the airport required another visit...Rich patiently helped with choices and sizing issues, and kindly dealt with shipping the additonal hats home. They arrived today. A friend of mine was just diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma, right behind her ear, so I stopped in here to get a hat that will cover up my ears (no more ball caps for me at the barn). Rich was extremely helpful. He picked out several hats for me to try on, based on my face shape and when I picked the right one, he steamed and shaped it perfectly. I must have been in a different hat store. I was not impressed at all. Wonderful selection of hats. But the person that helped me was unhelpful wouldn't make any suggestions I was looking for a hat expert. Took a hat in for repair blocking them cleaning. Nice job. Other than that I Won't Go Back. By the way I saw hat there I wanted to buy it was over $200 but not with that kind of salesmanship. I went in before Christmas looking for a gift. I found two great hats but the size ended up being wrong through no fault of the seller, so we returned today to exchange and purchased another top hat to add to the two hats (brown top hat and I believe the other was a heritage hat). Just signed up for Dance Across the Desert ( nonprofit org to help illegal immigrants find their way after being deserted by the coyote they PAID to sneak them across the border). ANYWAY, its WAY too dangerous to attempt at night so we do it in broad daylight. That being said, the ONLY way THIS GUY is dancing through the BLAZING desert is with a BRAND NEW Panama hat because that's the ONLY logical choice. We have visited Heritage Hats several times and my husband and I have both purchased several hats there. Rich has always been very pleasant and helpful. The inventory is amazing. We have relatives in the Phoenix area and always try to visit this great store when in town. I feel compelled to speak to Vaughn's review because this has to be a misunderstanding. I am not related to Rich, have never broken bread or shared a cocktail with him but we have handed our credit card to him. He is so friendly he friended me on his personal FB page. I have been his FB friend for several years. I have gained much insight into Rich , his beliefs, his friends, his passions. Vaughn, I can assure you there is not a prejudice bone in this mans body. I wasn't there and maybe the conversation was an awkward attempt at trying to assure you of that. In any event, I hate the deep division we are experiencing in this great country of ours. I fear that many of us are walking around angry looking for the next challenge rather than talking to each other. It would have been nice if you could have just told Rich that use of that word even in that context hurts. As a white woman I can't begin to understand what you may have experienced in the form of unjust prejudice and perhaps sensitivity as it relates to that. My husband was looking for a medium brimmed hat for the lake. We looked up hat shops near us and found Heritage. We were surprised when walking in to the shop as they have a very large selection. My husband did find one he liked but the size wasn't quite right. Rich, the owner, explained that he could stretch the hat so it would fit and he stretched it right there in the shop and it only took a few minutes. We paid for the hat and walked out happy. I love this shop! The owner, Rich, is always helpful, courteous, honest, and fun to talk with. You'll find hats in all styles, from good to extremely fine quality, all appropriately priced. I have purchased several hats here and on line and I have learned that it's far better to buy in person because size, fit, and style are so particular to each hat. Even if you find less expensive hats online, you'll probably waste a lot of time sending them back and forth trying to get the style and fit you like. Rich provides a final blocking and stain resistant treatment with each purchase, which is an added value. You can certainly spend a LOT more on hats at other shops in the valley, but I don't think they offer anything you can't get here. If you're even thinking about buying a hat, you should stop in. I came in to buy a hat and was created by Rich the owner right away. I have lived in Cavecreek my whole like and remember my parents buying my last cowboy hat there. Well that hat lasted a long 14 years and that brought me back to get a new one! Rich was very helpful and took he time to show me my options as well as shape the new hat in the way I wanted.
