Really, our assigned party person was great! Then there was pizza from their kitchen and cake! We chose the cupcake cake which tasting it was from Holloway. Had a great stay at this new Hilton property located on St Simon's island…read more Located in a residential neighborhood on a golf course, the resort has a club house, pool, fitness center, golf course, and a multitude of different rooms. Let me start by saying that every employee we met was courteous and helpful from on island recommendations for dining to addressing concerns. We used their remote check in option through our phones and went straight to our room. If you use remote check in, your key goes to your phone via the Hilton app. This can be a little cumbersome bc you will have an interior and exterior door to navigate and they did not like to de-conflict with each other so sometimes it was hard to find the right key. I just went to the front desk and got old school key cards and did not have the issue anymore. Our room was a well apportioned single bedroom with a king bed, screened in porch, wet bar, microwave, refrigerator and Keurig. They provide in shower shampoo, body wash and conditioner. I used it and it smelled good, my wife did not bc the pumps meant she had to pump the shampoo a lot to get enough for her hair. Also, there is no shelving in the walk in shower so she had to sit her razor and other toiletries on the ledge for the door. The bed was comfortable and the AC kept the room cool but bc of the humidity, the room just felt damp and wet. The carpet felt moist when you walked on it. My wife and I both enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch in the morning talking and watching wildlife. It may have been too hot in the August afternoon to do that. We did not get to enjoy the pool bc of the weather but the gym is well equipped and has some items you will not see in a standard hotel gym like Olympic lifting weights and barbells, kettlebells, a battle rope and plyo work ladders. As well as treadmills, cycles, dumbbells and med balls. On-site restaurant Sago was pretty good when we ate there. And is a good option when you don't want to drive. Great option for a weekend getaway but I am concerned about how the property will age if they do not figure out the room humidity thing.

This was very very disappointing…read more My husband and I stayed at Sea Palm Resort to celebrate our anniversary after traveling all the way from Maryland. We had been looking forward to this trip and expected a higher level of service based on the resort's reputation. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet those expectations. BTW, all that texting they do before you arrive and checking in on you is purely theatrics. The room itself was spacious, and I really enjoyed the view of nature from our room. We even spotted what I believe was a bobcat in the distance, which was a nice surprise. However, there were several issues that affected our stay. First, the floors did not appear to have been properly mopped before our arrival. There was hair in both the bedroom and the bathroom that appeared to have been left by previous guests. To confirm my concern, I wiped the floor with a damp paper towel, and it came back dirty. We reported this to the front desk, but no one ever came to address the issue. The shower gel was also disappointing. The product had been watered down so much that it was almost the consistency of water. It would shoot out of the dispenser instead of dispensing like a gel and produced almost no lather. That's kind of nasty to be honest dollar tree shower gel would have been better. It's giving "we are barely staying in business." The biggest issue was the air conditioning. It stopped working twice during our stay. We stayed there 3 nights and 2 of them there was no AC. Outside felt better than inside. Maintenance came out after the first report and got it running again, but only a few hours later it stopped working once more. With temperatures outside exceeding 100°F, the room became very uncomfortable. We had to sleep with the deck door open because even the fan was not working so there was no circulating air. Another disappointment was housekeeping. We stayed for three nights (Saturday through Monday), did not have a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, yet no one serviced our room during our stay. We never received fresh towels, the room was never cleaned, and no one checked in to see if we needed anything. Apparently you have to request housekeeping and telling them the floor is dirty isn't enough to get housekeeping to the room. Another concern was that we saw roaches in the room, regular household roaches. In all of my years of traveling, I have never stayed at a hotel where I encountered roaches, so this was very disappointing and concerning. Overall, the room itself had potential, and I appreciated the peaceful setting and beautiful natural surroundings. However, the cleanliness, lack of housekeeping, diluted bath products, and repeated air conditioning issues prevented this from feeling like the upscale resort experience we expected. I hope management addresses these concerns because the property has potential, but based on this visit, it did not live up to its reputation.

They also have a couple of local fisherman either in or around the store or up on the pier that have been fishing in the area for years and can provide you with some general advice on bait to use and types of fish that are actually hitting in the area. Definitely would recommend starting here first if you are intending to do some serious fishing. They also have several picnic tables with barbecue grills and an outdoor bathroom that is really clean. They also have a beach area if the kids wanna hang out which also seems to serve as additional areas for shore fishing.

Souvenir items the same as what is sold at Jekyll Market, were 20-30% cheaper at Jekyll Fishing Center. One family member bought some expensive outdoor gear and was very happy with the price. It wasn't anything needed, but the deal was too good to pass. Staff was really friendly and attentive. Vibe in the store is welcoming and unobtrusive. Will be back next trip!

We had a chance to visit Great Dunes Park a couple of weekends ago. This is definitely the beach to…read morecheck out if you want to avoid the crowds at Tybee Beach or even Hilton Head, although it will require about an hour or so drive south from Savannah and similarly, north from Jacksonville. They also charge a toll to get into the beach community with state residents paying I believe six dollars or so and out of state residents paying closer to 10. However, it's definitely worth it as there is plenty of parking along the entire island beach strip, including a really great fishing pier at the end of the island that also has a bait and tackle shop located within the park. We found the beach to be clean, the facilities to be well kept, and more importantly, not overly crowded. The beach here is well traveled, however so this is not soft, supple sand, but much more hard packed, which allows for running, bike riding and recreational activities in general. There were several families fishing in the same vicinity of other families playing in the water which could present a bit of concern with regard to potential hooks and fishing tackle in the surf, but it didn't seem to bother anybody. This is definitely going to be our go to beach for the foreseeable near future.

The employees and camp hosts are friendly and helpful. There is lots of trails and wildlife to enjoy. Anytime we have had issues, they are promptly addressed and rectified. The only slight drawback is the paper mill stench. It can be quite awful at times. Oh! And the noseeum's. Bring bug spray! We regularly visit Savannah, Jacksonville, St Simons, Jekyll Island, Amelia Island and Okefenokee National Park while staying here. Brunswick has all the necessities you would need and is a nice town. Husband always visits the Pinball Palace! Highly recommend staying a while and really exploring the beauty of this area.

Transients like me and longer term stays are available in the campground. There's just something about being waterside that I find helpful for my mood and my productivity, I was here for about two hours for phone calls and emails, sitting in the van and listening to the quiet lapping of the shore. There are activities here including picnic shelters, a playground, a fishing pier and a boat launch with crane. I was able to watch them pull a boat in with the crane and load it onto a trailer. I could not have asked for a better experience! Only $15 per 45-min youth clinic! My son's lessons were at Epworth Park on SSI, easy free parking right by the courts. My son was so excited for his lesson every time. Miss Sarah and her helpers are very skilled at instruction. Every time Sarah corrected my son's grip he had a good shot on the next try. As long as he listened to Sarah and the other instructors he did beautifully, especially for a 4yo playing his first time! These ladies are GREAT with kids, and they have really creative fun drills disguised as games, which the kids LOVED! If you aren't sure your kid will like/is ready for tennis, Sarah has rackets available for anyone to use if you don't have your own. The most convenient part about these lessons is you can pay as you go, and cherry pick your weeks according to your schedule. Most local kids go once per week, but we were on vacation and wanted to get more lessons in, so we did twice per week. No problem! As long as she has room Sarah will get you in. Oh and payment was very easy with Venmo. Compared to tennis clinics in the Philadelphia area where I'm from, St Simons Tennis Academy is a steal for the quality of instruction and facilities. I am excited to have Sarah and her team as part of our vacations from now on!

I only checked out the park on the west side of the bridge abutment, but there is much more to the east including a boat ramp, restrooms and nature trails. The fishing pier is the former bridge until it was torn down after the current bridge was completed. Not much more than four lanes of "road" that ends abruptly at the concrete barriers, it does stick out into the East River a good amount. There is a fantastic view from underneath the bridge, though it was rather overcast today. Several folks were fishing and seemed to be having some success.
