I'm very upset with this veterinarian office. My sister had been taken by her cat Sophia here for years. They diagnosed her with an ear infection and a UTI. I should have keyed in when the vet. Tech assistant said we are going to see if we can keep her around for a couple of months more. She knew! But I was so happy that she was going to be ok.Sophia started showing improvement after a couple of days.They told us she's going to be ok and that she's not on her last days.we were so relieved.But they put it in their private notes, and we found out from another vet who took her right away, that they put that in their notes. Also when I went to get her antibiotics that following Monday the girls at the front desk showed no compassion . Almost like it was a joke, and smirking. How dare you treat people like this that are worried about their animal! How dare you not tell us about the blood clot. You made her cat suffer for 3 weeks. You treated her and prescribed her medicine then turn around and not return our calls or to see her again after you treated her. My sister called you crying and begging you to please help her baby!Well we rushed her to another vet 2 town away as she's dieing in my arms,because you would not take her as an emergency. You can't see her until the 24th ???!when we told you she was dieing!The new vet put her on oxygen right away because she couldn't breathe anymore.She died! How dare you do that! How dare you!!. How dare you show no compassion! And not tell my sister about the blood clot!! Heritage has gone downhill big time! Since the last time I reviewed them, I had moved my cats to VCA Westside because I realized they were quick to respond to my emails and inquries. I could not move my turtle named Murtle because there is no reptitle specialist at VCA unfortaunetly. I stuck with them and Dr.Lankes had been very helpful the past 2 years for Murtle. When I called a few weeks ago due to an emergency for my turtle, Dr.Lankes was not in. I called around Sonoma County and nobody can see her same day due to a shortage in repitile specialist. A few weeks ago, Murtle had passed away. I sent an email the following day to Heritage explaining what happened, my sadness and disappointment. NOBODY from Heritage responded. My sister and her husband also moved their cats to VCA Westside because they would not respond to their emails for WEEKS and their cat was having anxiety and tearing her own fur out. Heritage does NOT CARE about your pets. They may be nice one day but they are truly after your money and does not have your pets best interest at heart. When your beloved pet gets sick..they don't care and ignore you. When your beloved pet dies...WHO CARES. All they care about is money. Save yourself the heartache and go elsewhere. read more

Brought my cat here after i noticed something was wrong with his eye. After taking him here they gave me some steroid cream and eye drops to cure his eye and while it healed the tear i believe the product was too strong or not what he needed and made my cats eye lose color and eventually his vision. My cat is a beautiful flame point siamese with gorgeous blue eyes so you could imagine how distraught i am that they only made it worse for him and made him lose his vision completely. I will never return here and i hope you guys never do this to another pet owner because now i haven't to live with the fact that i failed him as an owner and only trusted in you guys and you did us wrong. I've been here quite a few times, however I went there yesterday 4/27/22 for an ear infection that my pug had. They handed me an estimate of $530 I needed to pay 1/2 upfront before they even took him in, and a drop off fee of $114 for him to sit in a cage before they even had time to see him! Where to start. I scheduled a flea dip for a inherited cat 1/3. They told me their earliest appointment was 1/25. I agreed and administered bravecto and began combining out fleas and flea dirt due to the duration before visit. They called the day before and verified my visit for flea dip. When I checked-in they told me they don't offer flea dips. I then agreed to a bathing. Then they told me they don't do bathings. They billed me for a wellness check and proceeded to tell me the flea dirt on the car was not flea dirt and they didn't see any fleas. This is a bait and switch procedure and a shady business practice. read more

I recently moved to Santa Rosa and needed a new vet for my two bunnies. Dr Lynn Lankes is known throughout the house rabbit community for being one of the premier rabbit-savvy vets in the Bay Area, so I was happy to get an appointment right away! Here is the amazing thing: there is a hemorrhagic virus affecting rabbits across the globe. There is a vaccine approved in Europe that is still waiting for FDA approval and not readily available in the US. Apparently, Dr Lankes made a special trip to the Oakland airport to secure a stash of this vaccine for her bunny clients!!! We had a wonderful first meeting with Dr Lankes, she dutifully admired my bunnies and they are now vaccinated!! Fast forward a couple of months.... I spontaneously rescue a 4 year old Chihuahua. I need to get him checked out asap, as his living situation has been precarious and he has horrible dentition. I tried VCA petcare, but their first available appointment was in 6 weeks! I was able to get an appointment with Dr Fisher within a few days! We had a great appointment with Dr Fisher. She showed me how to properly pick up my delicate new 6 lb Chihuahua, we made a plan to get his vaccines up to date, and she gave a thorough explanation of what a dental procedure would be like. She assured me that they are diligent with pre-procedure labwork and monitoring during the anesthesia, which assures my skeptical RN brain. Yesterday, my Chi had a couple of vaccines, and wasn't feeling so well afterwards. He vomited once, and was lethargic and cranky all day. I caved in and called them, apologetically 10 minutes before the closing time. I was able to get through to the receptionist, talk to the vet nurse, who was able to give me dosing information for some Meloxicam (pain reliever) that I already had at home for my rabbits. Other bonuses for this vet hospital: I have never had trouble getting through to a receptionist, appointments are easy and quick, I haven't had to wait, their office is neat and clean. It's a HUGE peace of mind to know that I can get a hold of my vet and get my pets seen sooner than later... a rarity for MANY businesses in this post-pandemic world!! I'm looking forward to my Chihuahua's teeth cleaning, and planning on transferring care of my big dog to Dr Fisher. And keeping those bunnies' nails trimmed!! I had to bring my vet aggressive English Mastiff in for an oral and throat examination, Dr. Fisher and staff were wonderful! The amount of patience and professionalism was calming to a stressed out pet owner. They were able to examine his mouth and take several samples while explaining everything in detail to me. I was worried that I couldn't afford this visit as I've heard horror story's about veterinary's charging outrageous prices for similar visits, that wasn't the case as I think their prices were very reasonable. I have been taking my dog ​​to this clinic since he was a puppy. I trusted them to care for my pet but still had doubts about billing since my second visit. When he is a puppy, I buy a 3-visit pack with all the vaccines and exams to do for his first months. Two years ago my dog ​​needed emergency care and I went to another emergency vet clinic. I wanted to continue the care with this clinic. The Heritage Clinic vet insisted me to bring my dog to her clinic, as my dog's regular vet. She finally charged me a higher price for the x-ray than the emergency vet! Recently my dog ​​had a lump. I thought it was an abscess from a tick bite. The Heritage Clinic vet said it wasn't, it was surely something more serious that required removal surgery very quickly. I received 2 quotes, one for mass removal and one for mass ablation and other care: same surgery, but different prices! I contacted the office who explained to me that these were two different surgeries, but an Elliz collar was charged $ 6.50 in one and $ 7 in another. Is the Elliz necklace different? Prescriptions were charged at least 2 times the prices I found online. Additionally, the quote for the mass removal was over $ 700. So, I took the advice of another vet: it was an abscess and it will dry out on its own, no need for surgery: the abscess is now dried without surgery. Our dog needed to see a vet right away. No one had any appointments for at least two weeks. I called Heritage and they got us in right away. They were understanding, and compassionate the entire time. All of the staff were very nice and thorough and the facility was very clean. They also worked very well with our non-trusting, anxious dog. We will be going to Heritage from now on. read more

I wish I could write a good review but I cannot. They ran late on several occasions, once by an hour, and have disappointed many times... Dr. Lynn (?) has 0 empathy skills. Instead of interrupting me and telling me all of the things I do wrong with my pet, allow me me to finish then make a suggestion, instead of "No do not do that". I feel that where she is knowledgeable in animals, she lacks people skills. With over $800 spent over the course of months trying to treat my pet, (passed away), she was always slow to respond to emails and only works 3 days a week, so no one else could help me in a timely manner, as she was the only reptile expert. When working with stressed out and upset pet owners, a vet should show empathy, sympathy and understanding.... she does not and after I left that feedback on a survey, she refused to answer my emails. DO NOT recommend and go elsewhere no matter what. read more

I took my dog Luna to her regular vet for a checkup. Luna was placed in a cage before the vet completed her exam. When two assistants attempted to remove my dog from the cage, she was scared and didn't want to come out of the cage, (that's what the vet, Dr Fisher told me). An assistant came out to my car and told me they were having a problem getting a collar on her. I volunteered to come in and do it. I walked to the back area (that's where the exam rooms are located), and that's when I saw two young women abusing my dog. One woman was standing over Luna with a collar in her hand. The other woman had a wild animal control noose around my puppy's neck and she was pulling and yanking on it tightly. My dog had a petrified look on her face, she was terrified to say the least! It was at this point that I knocked firmly (pounded), on the door and yelled out to them. They both looked up and saw me (and they looked very surprised to see me standing there)! At that point they begin dragging her into another room by that wild animal noose contraption where I couldn't see them. When I was knocking firmly on the door, it opened a little bit, so when I saw them dragging my dog, I went inside. I followed them into the second room where they had dragged my puppy. (I'll never forget seeing my sweet little puppy being dragged like that)!!! She was already down on the floor laying in a side/back position and scared to death as they continued to drag her from the first room! I could see her panting heavily! I saw Luna was on the floor in the second room and she was petrified! She was shaking and still panting heavily. I quickly picked her up into my arms and quickly removed the collar that they had put on her. I left the room and returned with my dog to my car. Luna was clinging to me and appeared terrified! (She didn't calm down all the way home and clung to me)! The experience was obviously extremely traumatic for her! When I returned to my car, the vet, Dr. Fisher, came out to talk to me. She said that Luna had lunged at the assistant, but I know that is not true! Luna has never ever lunged at anyone! She has never bitten anyone or been aggressive in any shape or form! She has always been a loving sweet little puppy. She weighs 14 lbs and is considered a smallish-medium size dog. She's under 1 year old! She's still a puppy! At this point I'd also like to add that when I entered the exam room .. the vet was sitting with her back to the two employees who had Luna on the floor with the collar around her neck. And I'd like to add that when the vet came outside to talk to me, she told me that she wasn't aware that her office even had a rabies control noose collar! So if she wasn't aware of the type of forced control being used on our pet, then why were they using such an instrument (a pet capture noose .. which chokes the animal into submission), in the first place?!? Luna has been to this vets office several times for her puppy shots, etc., so she is familiar with the office. It is my strong opinion that our puppy was being abused ... I saw this abuse happen and I wouldn't ever want Luna, or any animal, to experience anything like this again! We are obviously never taking her to this vet again in the future! Our puppy is still traumatized .. and we don't know at this point if there will be any lasting damage or not? We hope not! 6-21-21 Update: When my husband returned home with Luna and told me what had happened, I was obviously just as upset as he was! I immediately called the vets office, but there was no answer so I left a message asking the vet (Dr Fisher), to call me. (Which she did a little past 5pm). So once Luna was home, we of course kept a very watchful eye on her. She was not her usual playful self. She wouldn't leave my side and she was very quiet. She usually follows my husband to bed at 8pm every night but not tonight. He had to pick her up and carry her into our room. After they went to bed, I settled into the evening to watch a little TV. But about 15 minutes after they went to bed, my husband came walking out of our room with our bedspread in his arms .. Luna had peed on the bed. She has been potty trained since about 4 1/2 to 5 months and she has never had an accident on our bed; or anywhere else for that matter. She then came out of the room and laid at my feet, so we decided to let her stay with me for awhile. At one point I moved to the edge of the couch to get up and Luna was looking up at me .. I reached out my hand to pet her and she flinched! Luna has NEVER flinched from either of us or been afraid of us in the slightest! She was scared that I was going to hurt her! We are so very upset that they hurt our puppy! Update: Today is 6-24-21: Luna is still traumatized. She has wet the bed twice more and once on the floor. She continues to flinch sometimes when I approach her to pet her. We are very worried, we are giving her extra love and extra attention read more

Dr. Lankes is the only vet in the area I trust for my exotic animals and I recommend her to everyone I come across! She was instrumental in the recovery of my rescue python and has shown outstanding knowledge for animals that other vets won't bat an eye at - and is always happy to pass that knowledge along! I appreciate that she always has cost in mind and will not medicate or treat animals unless she feels it is absolutely necessary (we're very nervous pet parents with fragile animals so we pick up the phone at the first cough, sneeze, or odd behavior.) We followed her from her last veterinary practice but the Heritage staff has been so friendly and welcoming and even asks about how our other animals are doing! read more

We took our chameleon here a few months ago, and the appointment went ok. The doctor didn't go too in-depth about what was happening with him, didn't see too knowledgeable about exotics. Definitely disappointed about that. We had waited for them to call us back about his X-rays & results, and we never received a call. We finally called after waiting about 2 weeks, reception said they had emailed about it. No email ever received, we both checked. Bentley my West Highland Terrier and my best friend. He was with Dr. Lynne Lankes since he was almost a year old. He had very difficult skin issues and we tried everything to get his conditions under control and after about a year, Dr. Lankes was able to put together the right combination of Food and medication and for the next 9 or so years Bentley did great and had a beautiful coat and was a relatively healthy and happy pup although he did continue to be a bit of a "high maintenance" pup. But totally worth what ever had to be done and he typically responded well. This past year he really started having more flare ups more often and various other illnesses but Dr. Lankes and Dr. Fisher and everyone in the office were amazing and really good with Bentley who wasn't always easy. He hated having his paws touched and could be "challenging" but they all loved him and treated him so wonderfully. I sadly had to make the decision to say goodbye to him this past August. It was devastating and so difficult but Dr. Lankes and the staff made it such an incredibly peaceful experience. I had no idea what to expect and they were so kind and compassionate. I highly recommend Heritage Veterinary Hospital and the amazing doctors and staff. They truly care!!!! read more

I've been to many vets (we've moved a lot) and my dog has never had the reaction to care as she does here. She is somewhat anxious and they don't take time to pet her and earn her trust at all before attempting treatment. She gets very upset and starts snapping after a while. I've had to come back multiple times because they can't finish all the treatment because she gets too scared. The last time I was here, I had to sit in the waiting room with other pet owners while I hear my dog howling and crying from the back room because they left all the doors open. We know they vet isn't fun for dogs, but I shouldn't have to hear my poor dog as she feels she being tortured. Their approach is too hasty and not at all calming. Loved coming here until Dr.Lankes started working here.. She's been extremely rude to me on multiple occasions literally leaving me in tears and making me feel like a horrible pet owner.. For example she gave me a bad time for not brushing my dogs teeth every time I brush mine which is ridiculous! Most people don't even brush their dogs teeth and she gave me a horrible time for only doing it a few times a month while most people don't even brush their dogs teeth and his teeth aren't even bad! Funny thing is she was nicer to me when I brought my mom with me which is ridiculous since I'm in my late 20's and shouldn't have to bring my mom with me to be respected as a responsible pet owner. Vet refused to talk to my husband, just had my husband drop off our cat and a tech call him with $800 of tests and push $$$ flea meds for my sick cat who has never had fleas, been outdoors or been around other outdoor animals. I've been taking my furry family members to this clinic for a long time and really liked Dr. Paul. BUT, Dr. Fisher, the new vet, is fantastic! She's very practical, funny, caring and her staff is respectful and relaxed. The hospital/clinic has undergone a "facelift" and both the inside and outside shine. I took two of my fur kids, Daisy & Sebastian in today. Once again, we received extraordinary care! Dr. Fischer has such a calming way about her. Both the cats and I were comforted by her gentle manner. She genuinely cares for each of her patients and takes the time to answer any questions one may have. They said they'd have the results in an hour, this was at 1130am. I called 3x for an update as they close at 4 on Saturdays, wanted to get back before they close for some medicine. Each time I called no update, we'll call you... we'll at 530 I get a TEXT message, not a call, the test came back negative of parasites. HALLELUJAH!!! Now what??? What about medicine for her diarrhea??? Anything??? Nope. Broke my back today cleaning the shit stains, and 90$ later no help from these people! When Dr Palmatiere ran this practice this crap would have never happened! Now I'm in the whole 90$ and have to now go to emergency vet and pay god knows what to get my lil puppy some help.
