I had a very bad experience with this dealership. I went there for a diagnostic and they told me the car needed a new engine wiring harness and that they had to overlay a sensor and bunch of other nonsense stuff. They quoted me almost $5,800 for the repair, which made absolutely no sense for a car that is barely worth $5,000. They also charged me $360 just for the diagnostic. Later I found out the diagnosis was completely wrong and the real problem was something totally different that cost less than $500 to fix. I went back to the dealership just to ask for my money back because of the bad diagnosis, and they told me they do not offer refunds. Imagine paying almost $6,000 for a repair on a $5,000 car and still ending up with the same problem. Please avoid this dealership at all costs. In my experience they are scammers and their mechanics don't even seem to understand the vehicles they are working on. I will be submitting a complaint to Volkswagen corporate about this situation. My service tech was great. I have no complaints. The job I requested was ordering 2 tires from this location and having them installed. Tires were installed perfectly. The black covers were left off that cover the lug nuts. But as soon as I pointed that out. They were added back. I'm happy with my service. The only thing that purposely annoyed me was whomever worked on the car unplugged my dashcam 3 different ways as if it were an uninstall. If theres a rule at this location or all VW places forbidding dashcams when getting service I truly respect that. I just found it a little overkill that my dashcam was unplugged from the 12V, the 12V was unplugged, an the cord at the top was purposely unplugged pushing my rear view mirror out of focus, which is how I noticed it was unplugged. Every VW I've been to or Tiresplus, Firestone, Mavis, etc has never unplugged it. Which is why it struck me as odd. Not a big deal, but it's like. What's really going on back there to unplug it from every avenue when that doesn't stop the recoding at all. But I haven't checked nor thought about checking the footage because that's not what the dashcam is for. But it did alert me to whether or whether or not I would come back. read more

Purchased 2023 VW Jetta December 2023. Excellent service from beginning to end. Came in with a upside down trade in but still had a budget in mind. Previously we had looked at several other dealerships in and around Atlanta with no success. We dealt with dishonest sales people and hiked up prices. Basically wasted time and gas. But when we finally got to Heritage, Phillip (as well as his manager and the finance dept) was able to all work together to get me the best deal possible as close to my budget with zero down. A few days later the finance dept called to let me know they were able to get even a lower interest rate and monthly payment than initially antipated. Then in late January had to go into service dept due to my interior map light not fully functioning. Everyone in the service dept was nice and accomodating. Awful, just awful! Service reps are rude. When I first walked into the service area, one guy was on the phone, but the other guy did not utter one word to me. No hello. Nothing. Wait times have to be self-initiated, then I think they just throw anytime at you to get you on your way? You know what will really get me on my way? Fixing my vehicle. I came in for a simple tire change. Service lies and told me they got the tire late, when it came several hours earlier. I normally deal with Jim Ellis, but had my vehicle towed here in an emergency. Long post Alert: Buyers Beware..... I am beyond disappointed with the level of service my son has received purchasing a 2022 VW Atlas from this dealership. What should have been an exciting milestone for him has turned into an absolute nightmare. He bought the vehicle in July 2024, and since then, he's been back to the service department at least four times for the same check engine light issue. The problems started just one month after he drove the car off the lot. They quoted him $800 to fix it. Shortly after, he went back for an oil change, which cost $150. Not long after, the check engine light came back on, and their solution was to reset the light, claiming it was just a sensor issue. Of course, the light came back on yet again--and this time, his trunk stopped working and will not open. On his most recent visit, they charged him $180 for a diagnostic test and then quoted him an outrageous $950 to replace the spark plugs due to the engine misfire. Mind you, the car has only 60,000 miles on it, and he's only had it for five months. When he asked if replacing the spark plugs would solve the check engine light issue, they had the audacity to say they didn't know and that it could be something else like the carbon canister, fuel injectors etc. and that could run us another $2,000! To make matters worse, this dealership has been shady and dishonest from the start. They lied to get him back to the dealership, lied about what they could take off the price, and misled him about warranties & repairs. You cannot tell me they did not know all this was going on with that vehicle when they sold it to him. I was very hesitant about doing business with them from the beginning, but my son really wanted the truck, so I reluctantly went along. Now, I deeply regret not walking away. And as if that's not enough, they even lied about sending my friend the $100 referral check they promised. To this day, she hasn't received anything from Heritage Volkswagen of Union City. These people are nothing but dishonest and unethical. They prey on buyers and take advantage of them, especially first-time buyers like my son. They don't care about honesty or customer satisfaction--just taking your money. I would never, EVER recommend them to anyone not even my worst enemy. Save yourself the headache and avoid them at all costs...take your business elsewhere. I would not purchase a New or Used vehicle from this dealership. They've only proven themselves to be unethical, greedy, and completely lacking in customer care. We immediately sought a second opinion regarding the repairs Heritage recommended for the vehicle, which totaled nearly $3,000. To our surprise, it was confirmed that none of those repairs were actually needed. While I would like to believe there was no ill intent, the situation raises serious concerns about the accuracy and integrity of their assessments. As a result, we incurred a $180 diagnostic fee from Heritage and an additional $197 at the second repair shop, which not only confirmed the vehicle's actual needs but also provided an accurate estimate for repairing the trunk--something Heritage failed to do. This experience has deeply eroded our trust in Heritage's VW of Union City and we will no longer be bringing the vehicle there for any future maintenance or repairs. read more

Honestly the worst Volkswagen dealership that could ever exist. I've been waiting a month for a loaner car to investigate a window that they broke during a service appointment not to mention they gave it back to me with the window broken and knew it was broken and seemed to wait to see if I knew. My service advisor Mike was the only one concerned the manager wasn't. The guy who gave me the car back wasn't. Then i spent all day they fixed the window and then when i got it back it wasn't fixed. It still wouldn't go up. No apology still from management I'm not sure why they are managers at that point... Mike again was the only person who was apologetic and empathetic. Her title should be Customer Care Manager. She talked to my sister about her needs wants and was warm and friendly. My sister wasn't interested in upgrading her vehicle, but Charisse didn't pressure, nor was she pushy. She was just right in her approach and conversation. She gave us facts about Volkswagen, and left the decision process to my sister. I find that to be a breath of fresh air in the world of automotive madness. Charisse Parker is a pleasure to meet and a great person. The lobby of the waiting room was kept clean by her and she spoke to everyone and helped with anything a customer needed. We were sent down a financial rabbit hole and didn't get what I paid for.   Oct. 19th - Dropped off our 2013 Tiquan (purchased there) for an engine light diagnosis for codes (P050A - P2177) and rough idling in the mornings only. Oct. 27th - Mr. D. Mcdaniel, Service Associate said, "to solve the problem, the air induction valves needed to be de-carbonated (De-Carb'd) and the cost would be approximately $1,200." Oct. 28th - The vehicle was picked up. Total amount paid $1,327.83. Oct. 29th - The next morning the engine light was back on and still idling rough with the same codes (P050A - P2177). It seemed nothing was done except to clear the codes and take our money.   Nov. 1st - Dropped the vehicle off again for a second time and asked for Mr. B. Hall, Service Manager to intervene in resolving this issue. Nov. 5th - The Service Manager had the technician re-diagnose the problem and stated, "to solve the problem, new sparks plugs were needed ($220) and the gas in the tank was bad and had to be removed and replaced with 93% octane gas ($300)." The gas tank was 2/3 full when dropped off and 2/3 full when picked up! How ironic is that? Nov. 9th - The Service Manager said the vehicle was ready for pick up. Total amount paid was $563.67. That evening the engine light was back on with the same idling issue in the morning and the same codes (P050A - P2177) that I brought it in with Oct. 19th. Nov. 10th - Left a message for Mr. S. Rotenstein General Manager, to call in hopes the issue would be resolved without paying any more money. We took the vehicle back in. This time we waited for the technician to re-diagnose the issue and codes (P050A - P2177). The Service Manager said the technician found that we now needed four (4) new fuel injectors and seals. The additional cost for this service would be $1,369.53!!! Mr. S. Rotenstein, General Manager called and stated since we were valued customers, we would not have to pay any more cash out of pocket and he would speak with the Service Manager. Nov. 11th - The Service Manager informed us that the General Manager had only approved a  reduction of $300 from the additional cost of $1,369.53 on top of the $1,895.50 we already paid. This is RIDICULOUS! Beware of this service department. They will send you down a financial rabbit hole. They don't do what you pay them for and show no empathy for you. Lack of communication and understanding between customer and service rep! I was very displeased with the unannounced wait time. Service staff goes to lunch and leave you sitting there without any updates! Although I was a walk-in, I expected some wait time, but I did not expect to be waiting from 12:38 to 3:30pm. The only status updates I received were self-initiated. Bad bad bad experience with one of the service reps, and the others only took interest when they saw me in Bay area looking perplexed. Their involvement offered little to no relief or answers to inquiries about my vehicle. I do not want to do business with this service department and possibly dealership in the foreseeable future. Treat your customers like you would want a dealership to treat your parents...if you love, value, and respect them!!!! read more

Put about 20 miles on our "new air conditioning system" before it starting making loud popping noises and smoking and blowing 80 degree air while on air conditioning. Notified the dealership Friday, the man I spoke with said he would let his manager know Monday. Haven't heard anything. Save yourself the money and heartache and take your vehicle to literally anywhere else. Update* Still haven't been reached out to by VW of union city despite the comment below. Just had my Tiguan in for service at Heritage VW. They have always been exceptional, but today I changed my mind on them. Wanted to have the ignition switch looked at, so a diagnostic check was charged - quoted at $180 and an oil change quoted at $122. When I pick up my vehicle, I was charged $220 for the diagnostic and when I asked why the difference I was told it was for labor. When I asked why the labor charge for a diagnostic as the labor cost are included in the quote. I was then told that the $40 labor was for the oil change, and again, I asked why is that so, when the cost for an oil change includes the labor. I was just told that it's what it is. So I am completely done with Heritage VW. I've been a VW owner since 2008 and this is a first for me. Be very wary about Heritage if you take your vehicle in for service there. read more

Dropped off my Volkswagen to have its problems diagnosed not fixed. Took the car off the lot after service and the car's engine caught on fire because the oil cap was not on correctly from Volkswagen service department. Car's engine was therefore ruined. Took the car back to heritage Volkswagen for them to fix the problem they caused. They refused to fix it and avoided the problem for a month while my car just sat on the lot. I called endlessly to multiple mangers at the dealership who wouldn't even answer my call despite voice messages. The dealership has left me without a car and has significantly hurt me financially. I have been trying to get the airbag recall completed for a year. Keep getting the run around on if they will have a loaner available which was promised in the lawsuit. Yet, VW and Heritage thinks that is an optional part of the settlement. They have now sent me a letter stating they will provide a loaner or alternative transportation, then when you call, they refuse. However, the same letter states the airbag is dangerous and can cause serious injury or even death. A copy of the letter is attached to prove I am not making it up. read more

I purchased an ID.4 EV from this dealership in December 2022. In June of 2022 I was involved in a minor collision that required body work. To my surprise I discovered that the dealership does no in-house bodywork and outsources all work to a 3rd party. My car has been in the body shop for 2 months pending back ordered parts. The parts are unavailable in the region with no estimated delivery date. The dealership has agreed to use it's influence with the body shop to get them to put my car back in a operational condition, at a reasonable cost, while we await parts. They have also agreed to press the issue with corporate to expedite shipment of the necessary parts. That is a pretty good effort to stand behind a customer and while I'm displeased with the manufacturer, the dealership is doing what it can and they have my respect. read more

Took my GTI in for 30,000 mile service. I left my car there and went to run errands with my husband. They called 3 hrs later and said it was ready. When I got there no one knew where my service rep was. No one went over my paper work. The girl who was in the office felt bad that I was just waiting so she had me sign my paperwork. I got my keys and went to my car. I open the door and the plastic wrap and paper was still in the floor board. I started my drive home and 3/4 of the way home my tire pressure light came on. And once I got home I noticed that they didn't even wash it like they were supposed to. I'm glad that's my last "free" service. I won't be going back here. Had an appointment for an oil change and new battery on Friday, 8:30am. Friday afternoon they said they didn't have time to look at it that day. Monday they say it will be ready in the afternoon. We check and they say they have to order a battery. It will be ready at 11am Tuesday. It's 12:45 Tuesday. I'm here but the battery is not. No proactive calls from them, I had to always call them. Something feels shady at this location. Bought new car 1 year ago. Got talked into extra warranty on rims and tires. I scratched my rims. Brought them into get fixed only find out the coverage is only for damage not scratches. This was literally the reason I bought the extra coverage and pay $50 more a month. So they wouldn't cover it and I ended up paying $150 to get the scratches fixed. I go and I'm looking at my car as I'm picking it up and it looks like they changed the tires around and painted with a sharpie. Long story short yes this was my fault for not reading the fine print. So here is your warning be very careful with the finance people and the service people at this location. Something very shady going on with contracts and repairs. Be careful at heritage they will mislead you by telling you one thing but you get another. Totally ripped off for $50 a month. Worst place to get your car serviced EVER. The "free " oil changes are only free if you pay for the regular scheduled services - so at 20k miles you pay $158 for an oil change and tire rotation. SLOWWWWW and poor trouble shooting. I hope you have a LOT of spare time because even with an appointment you're going to be sitting in the waiting room for half a day for an oil change or more for anything else. They have a movie theater attached to the service center take that as an omen you're gonna be there to watch a double feature at minimum. COVID can't be used as an excuse because this has been the situation since I bought my car in 2018. Oh and finally after 6 hours when you're offered a rental from the Enterprise outfit down the street you'll be driving the crappiest sub compact car available on the rental lot. I've spent more time in the service waiting room than should be expected of a reasonable person. Burning time off from work that over the span of a couple years (warranty work) has added up to more than a few DAYS. Tech's trouble shooting is sub par I've had to bring the vehicle in more than once for poorly diagnosed repeat issues. read more

I am a disabled veteran that was sold a used car (Passat) that has been involved in an accident but they concealed that information. I found out after taking the car for repairs because the headlights where pointing straight down making it hard to see at night and the cruise control would not work. Mr. Cough ( Sales Manager) was very "nice"to tell me that they would refund our money right away so that we would not incur any finance charge from our loan company. Big fat lie! They kept our money and we had to pay a finance charge because our money was kept over 30 days. They would not return our calls even after leaving many messages. I just got my car serviced here yesterday and it was absolutely amazing as always! I bought my 2017 Jetta brand new from Heritage VW of south Atlanta and from purchase to service I have loved my experience with everyone there. Not only have I only had to service my car ONCE per year. My service advisors Mia and Bryant Hall are always extremely friendly. And will do their best to make sure I am informed on what's going on with my car. Because I live in midtown and still prefer to use this service center, I have some one closer to south Atlanta drop my Jetta off for me and Mia always calls me every step of the way to let me know when my car will be ready and if any additional service is needed. I truly appreciate how low maintenance my Jetta is and would recommend these cars to anyone who lives a busy life and needs a dependable and stylish vehicle. And Oh If you're in the market for a new car, the sales staff is PHENOMENAL. The GSM DJ Drawdy is always there to help as well some of my favorite sales staff there: John, Rufus and Shawn! I'm a reasonable person, but this dealership, their leadership (Steve Rotenstein), and the individual sales person that I dealt with (Dee Holness) are the most untrustworthy, unprofessional, dishonest, indifferent, and least customer-oriented crew that I have ever tried to patronize.   Long story short, I tried to purchase a 2019 VW Atlas from out-of-state, had friends and family come to inspect/test drive the vehicle prior to purchasing it, filled out a credit application, submitted my approval letter for financing, and provided every bit of info that was needed to make a timely sale and now, it appears, they used a variety of stalling tactics until they got a better offer on the vehicle.   IMO, this dealership- and these two participants- is nothing more than a racket that ultimately is only concerned about making the most profitable sale and not with maintaining any semblance of integrity, but from their actions, profit trumps integrity.  And if this is the attitude they demonstrate in their professional life, I only assume they demonstrate  in their the same unsavory characteristics in their personal life as well.   And my guess is that some random customer service manager or PR person will leave a comment after this trying to explain the situation or do some damage control, but whatever is said- if anything- is utter nonsense and BS. read more
