I have been a Gowen's customer for over 10 years. I followed a mechanic from shop to shop for nearly 20 years. They've taken care of multiple cars from basic maintenance to custom work and all for totally reasonable prices. Now, they no longer want to work on the same cars they've helped me maintain for over a decade. If you want a strong, reliable, years-long relationship with a shop that can maintain your vehicles, I would look elsewhere. read more

Well I first took my car to the back in January because my dashboard started to flicker and didn't quite know what the issue was so they diagnosed it as my electrical box was bad so I paid the $2500 to replace it then after that they started to me that my battery would not charge mind u I have just bought the battery in January so fast forward to now when I recieved my car back my hood was broken an wouldn't open but when I dropped my car off it worked so I let them replace the hood latch which cost me another $1200 so I went to pick my car up get back drive an I have a check engine light broke dwn they towed me back to them now they said I need an alternator at this point I'm done I'll never go back there again so to anyone who goes there be mindful read more

Got it right the first time considering my bad experience with a couple prior mechanic shops . Very friendly and considerate establishment . Barbra the receptionist , was very understanding and listened carefully to each and every detail regarding my mechanical issues . After entrusting Gowens with my vehicle , I was contacted a couple hrs later . They clearly explained what my issue was and what it would cost to repair it . I was back on the road the next day and the price was very reasonable . My car runs so much better . I'm very thankful for honest , friendly and reliable service . read more

Took my car in with a transmission issue. They diagnosed a catalytic issue that was causing it. Fortunately, I had many people who told me that couldn't be the case and to not fix that because it wouldn't fix a transmission issue. I asked them to probe and after two additional days, four days of evaluation they told me it was a seal that needed to be replaced. It wasn't the catalytic causing the issue. At this point, I should have realized that they are not able to diagnose the source of a problem correctly. That I truly regret. They charged me $1100 to change a seal in the transmission. That's what is costs to rebuild a transmission, at that point it had been almost a week and I just needed to get it done, so I paid to do the job. My car went idle in the middle of the highway and I towed it back to them. All they changed was a $20 fuse and they charged me $330 for their "time" Less than one week later, I am having the same transmission issues. I called to find out what their warranty is, and they said they can only warranty the seal, not their diagnosis nor the job. I threw away $1000! I need to go elsewhere. They are not transmission savvy and they won't even work with you on a bad diagnosis. They will charge you for absolutely anything and do not value repeat customers. I am writing this, because I really wish I would have read a review like this before I went to them. I do not recommend them at all. read more

Although I was told that this company has been in business for over 50 years - their customer service is extremely poor and their labor charge is too high!!! I had my car towed there for a alternator & battery situation-my car lost power & stopped After Gowen's had it for 9 days - I was told it was fixed and come pick it up. The repair bill was ridiculous high!! Less than two weeks later the same issue happen - my car lost power. Took it back (under warranty) but I had to ALWAYS CALL for updates and I was always put on hold because no one never seemed to know the status of my car!!!! I felt like because my car was a redo job (non payment) it was not given priority as other cars!!! I will definitely look for another auto repair shop for any future repairs!!! read more

I will NEVER use their service again! They are extremely rude! We came to them to have a transmission put in our families F-150 truck. We attempted to pay before the truck service was completed, however Ms. Barbara insisted we wait so they could see how much fluids would be needed. Once they were finished, they gave a final payment of about $450 more of what was originally quoted. They did not do a full estimate. When I called to get a more understanding and explain the frustration (especially right before Christmas, $1,900 plus of work), Christie was very rude and continued to cut me off, in which I hung up the phone! When my fiancé picked up the vehicle the following day, they were still rude (police were already their for an issue that another customer was having). He had a question about something else and wanted someone from the maintenance crew, Christie made a statement of "what does he want now?!". I will NEVER use them again or recommend to anyone!! read more

If i could do zero stars i definitely would. These people had my car for 8 months.. They said it would be done in 2weeks. They went silent for at least 2-3 months and i thought they stole my car. They randomly call me and Ms.Barbra overly rude ass tells me i need to pay 3k immediately or they are going to charge me $150 a day for storage, after going ghost on me for months. I had to get my lawyer involved cause they did 15 diagnostics on my car... and charged me maintenance and labor fees each time. They literally went ghost No calls no updates no progress! I had to call them and every time i did it was some bullshit about the SAME FUCKING WIRE. Every single time. When i finally did get my car, it was extremely dirty. They didn't change any fluids ( transmission, oil, & coolant) & most of the things they should've fixed they did not. I wasted time and money here. 0/10. wouldn't recommend read more

Best service I've experienced in awhile. They took the time to explain to me the issues my car was having and was able to fit me in without an appointment. Mom at the front desk is hilarious, loves to dance on Saturday's, and was helpful. Pricing was good and I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of .Will definitely be coming back for future car needs. read more

I took my 2008 bmw 535i in to them they took care of my car. I had some crankshaft work done the main seal was cracked, because of the belt tensioner breaking and the belt popped off went into the front crankshaft causing a huge oil leak. The lady at the front disk is a charm to work with even though she don't really know what's going on with the cars when it comes to specific details. She is very nice, and goes over and beyond to help the situation. She keeps a couple jokes up her sleeve. Pricing was okay I mean it's way cheaper there then the bmw dealership. They also set up a follow up appointment because I had a misfire on 6. When I got my car back the misfire was gone car has been running fine. I recommend ! read more

They replaced the computer in my truck $550. It took over a week. I drove it for over a week and now it is having the same problem. I went back and they are on vacation for a week. I am a farmer and need this truck to deliver food. I am loosing a lot of money because of this. Not very professional. Do not do business there. Ten days later, after they returned I was able to get into the shop. They determined it was the battery and not the computer. They checked it out and I was charged $65. read more

I have a 93 Volvo while driving on the expressway at 65 mph I heard a pop noise the car lost power and the rpm went up, my mother recomended I take my car to Gowen's so I did, I asked them to do a diognostic which they did not do, the owner and one of his mechanic drove my car around the block and determined that my transmission needed to be replaced a cost of almost three thousand dollars. I was suspicious, I asked my friend who works on his own Volvo to look at it, he put the car on ramps looked under it he could see a wire hanging but could not reach it, we took the car to his friends shop put it on a lift for five dollars saw that the wire hanging was a sensor that plugs into the transmission, he pluged it in and my car is running like a charm. I talked to the owner of Gowen's and he informed me that a diognostic would have caught the problem but they cant do one on a car older that 96 he also said American and Japnes cars are his expertise not European cars. I did ask him if they looked under the hood and under the car which he said no, he said he drove it and had his mechanic drive it and decided there was no need to look at the car. I feel that a good mechanic will do a complete inspection of a car not just drive it. read more
