Wanted to write my review a couple of months ago, but I didn't want to just share my emotions or be unsubstantiated. Now that I have gotten multiple evaluation reports from other doctors/specialists, I am confident to say that Herlin Dyal doesn't have what it takes to be a doctor in the first place. Before I came to this office, I read a few negative reviews but I disregarded them, and that was the BIGGEST mistake of my life; please learn from my mistakes. I came to her office on 6/1/2020 with a TMJ problem that arose during the process of getting crowns at another general dentist's office; I was in moderate to severe pain. Mrs. Dyal promised to get me out of pain as soon as possible by making new crowns that would fix the messed up bite. Instead, she made me to pay for treatments and products that I never needed. She would say different things at each visit contradicting one another; when they were questioned, she would just make up "excuses", become defensive or just flat out lie to my face. She loves to highly praise herself and her experience. She would tell me numerous times that she has over 20 years of experience and I don't. In my opinion, it does not matter how long you do something it's about how well you are doing that something. She works very aggressively with no care/concern; she broke two of my teeth making me get implants. Since this was my 4th time getting crowns done, I know the process and how the final results should feel and look. Knowing this I asked a lot of specific questions and raised many concerns as well as my expectations throughout the treatment. In our conversations, Mrs. Dyal assured and promised to deliver the best results. During the treatment, her work, attitude and ignorance made me seek a second opinion. At this point in time, only 9 out of 15 crowns were done (uppers). After she cemented them, she immediately started adjusting both upper and lower (temporary) crowns without asking me how they felt. I panicked because the final upper crowns were done according to the established bite that felt OK. After these adjustments, the pain associated with the TMJ problem came back. Those cemented crowns didn't go all the way up under the gum line creating a dark outline between the gum and crowns on facial side, meanwhile in the back my tongue felt the gap between the edges of the crowns and the gum. Black triangles (spaces) between the crowns were created making food get stuck in there. The color of the crowns was, also, very weird: with direct light they would appear white, with less light - they would look dark blue-ish/gray-ish. My coworkers would ask me what I had for breakfast. The doctors I saw asked me if the work was done in Mexico or Ukraine, and that the work was done at an acceptable level. REALLY?! After she made me pay over $45k, just "acceptable"?! I brought this up at our next meeting; Mrs. Dyal got very offended and said she is "withdrawing from further professional services as my dentist". She just kicked me out because of her wounded pride and bruised ego knowing I was in pain! I started looking for a specialist to complete the treatment and still currently am because no doctor is willing to complete a job that is done improperly. She left me with an incorrect bite and doctors say the upper crowns need to be redone in order to fix the problem. I got quotes for over $25k. Mrs. Dyal did not just waste over 9 months of my life, over $45k, interfered with me and my family's life, but she made a permanent damage to my health. I, also, wanted to say she did a significant damage to my life, but the more and deeper I think about it the more I want to say she DESTROYED MY life because the life I live now and that is ahead of me is not mine... I came to her office with one problem, but got kicked out with so many more problems that are very serious and some of them are not fixable, for example: all the teeth she worked on are having permanent mobility grade 1, except one, it has grade 2. What it means? I feel my teeth moving when brushing, eating, drinking, even when kissing. I cannot eat anything harder that rice or pasta, I cannot eat my favorite fruits and vegetables, nuts. Eating makes me very stressed now. Dentists say if I need to get new crowns, the teeth may not survive through the process and I would end up getting dentures or implants. Can't believe a "specialist" could do such a damage! I have so much to say, but to sum up: Mrs. Dyal is a very unprofessional liar, she only cares about money and her self-esteem. My family and close friends that had known me before, during treatment and see the results after, insist on taking her to court! read more

This is my 2nd full year of having a full set of implants done by Dr. Dyal. I am very pleased with her work and the outcome. Dr. Dyal is a caring physician and is precise about her work. She engages you in the process you will be part of the decision-making and the look is natural but very much improved. Never trust this Doctor! She placed 2 temporary crowns and I have to come back at least 2 times to have her cement my crowns again. She replaced a good permanent crown with a temporary crown cause according to her that's what I need to start with my orthodontic treatment!! When I asked her to just replaced it with a permanent crown instead of putting another temporary crown that kept on coming off!! she tried to charge me again! DON'T PAY FOR WHAT IS PROMISED BUT NOT DELIVERED. This is a review about the UNSATISFACTORY service that I received from Dr. Herlin Dyal in 2016 when she was still practicing at the Dental office at 6409 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento. I came to her to get a complete denture and paid a total of $3,660, which is very expensive comparing with other offices because I wanted the best quality. Dr. Dyal recommended that I got a secondary cast frame that is reinforced steel to prevent breakage of the denture, and I paid $500 for this. However, on the day that I came in to have the denture fitted, it didn't have a secondary cast frame. When I questioned her about this, she told me that the denture was made with a "special material" so there was no need for a secondary cast frame. Since she explained that this was a "special material", I didn't ask her to reimburse the $500 because I thought that the money was used to get this special material. She never explained what the $500 was used for and what the special material is! My denture cracked in July 2019. When I went to Dr. Anthony Nguyen, my orthodontist, to repair, I told him about Dr. Dyal's explanation and asked him how my denture could crack if it was made with a "special material", he said that it was NOT made with a special material, it was just a standard material used in many dentures. Why did Dr. Dyal lie to me that my denture was made with a "special material?" I paid $500 for a special material but it is in fact just standard material. I do not recommend Dr. Herlin Dyal at all. She was very deceiving in her explanation of the material that I received. Her patients should have a witness or make sure to record what she said because her service is not honest. This dentist is the best of the best! I was a Registered Dental Hygienist for 13 years (until I had an injury). I have had a bad bite my whole life but was never motivated to fix it because my teeth looked nice so I have worn night guards for the past 50 years. However at 70 my teeth were worn due to the bad bite and no longer attractive. My hygienist told me about Dr Dyal. I could instantly tell she was a dental genius. She understood my mouth and occlusion better than any other dentist that had been making my night guards for the past 50 years. Ideally she said I needed orthodontics but at 70 I just couldn't see it. At my request she took on the task anyway. I cannot express enough how she rehabilitated my bite with putting crowns on 15 teeth. For the first time in my life I am have a comfortable and functional bite and mouth. The crowns were simply gorgeous and my worn teeth were no longer part of my smile. Just miraculous. I never dreamed she could improve my bite to such a comfortable and functional state. read more

This is a follow up to the review written by my 80 year old mother (above) who had to encounter the unprofessionalism of Dr. Dyal. I accompanied my mother on most of her denture treatment starting in February of 2017 through October 2017. At first, Dr. Dyal was very professional and she seemed very knowledgeable in her field. She was very thorough and detailed about her treatment plan. We both really liked her. She knew my mother feared anything with dentistry, and I had asked her at the beginning of her treatment to make sure she told my mom every move when putting something in her mouth or removing something. The first couple visits seemed fine. Dr. Dyal recommended my mother get three crowns to form a "table" in her mouth before proceeding with the top plate. Even though, Dr. Dyal knew my mom was afraid of any dentistry procedures and told her that she needed to be put under for any type of detailed work, Dr. Dyal proceeded to attempt a crown or two. Being uncomfortable during this procedure, my mom said she'd have to be put under. My mom hired an anesthesiologist recommended from Dr. Dyal (that she had never worked with) to complete the procedure. That whole incident was a fiasco as well. In the meantime, Dr. Dyal made a temporary top plate that fit perfect for Mom. When the permanent plate came in, the color of the teeth were off a shade, the front teeth were too long, and the plate was placed too forward in her mouth. Dr. Dyal went ahead and made the corrections, but again my Mom explained to her that the fit just wasn't right. After many visits, Dr. Dyal became rude, didn't want to listen to my mom or believe what she was feeling. She kept telling my Mom the plate was a perfect fit and that she didn't need adhesive. One time, Dr. Dyal put her hand up in mid conversation so she could speak over my mom. She would put mom's plate in and pull it out, put it in, pull it out without being sensitive or inform her step by step what she was doing...again as Mom feared dentists. After one year with a plate that didn't fit well, she was eating pizza and her front tooth broke and part of another. We called to have it redone and was told she needed to come back in for an impression and that they'd have to look at it to see if there was a fee. Mom was resistant to go, but I told her after spending over $21,000 on consult, treatment, crowns, anesthesiologist costs, etc. that Dr. Dyal needs to fix the plate. Teeth should NOT be breaking off! When she went in, Dr. Dyal didn't really care about her top plate even though my mother showed her the difference between the temporary plate she had to wear for weeks vs. the permanent plate. Because she had gone for a second opinion, she was shown the difference between two plates and YES, the permanent was too long in length. Dr. Dyal was not interested in looking at both plates. She just discussed the review on Yelp that my mother had written and made her feel uncomfortable about writing it. Dr. Dyal told her she didn't want her as a customer anymore, took the broken top plate, and reimbursed her $4300. What happened to customer satisfaction? This is not the way to treat an elderly woman and now leave her with no permanent top plate! I would not recommend Dr. Dyal to anyone. I notice most of her reviews are from 3-5 years ago. This is a current review. Don't go to her! We wish we didn't start this whole ordeal with her and her office. In fact, the front office lady in the Rocklin office is just as rude. They both need an attitude adjustment towards their customers. The only kind and gentle person there was Kelly and I think she was an intern going through school. God help her if she is still working for Dr. Dyal. I rarely write reviews on Yelp, but I couldn't let this year of treatment and lack of follow up go unnoticed! Just awful! read more

Dr. Dyal is a great dentist/prosthodontist I have seen her before for exams and evaluation but have not needed any treatment. She did major work on my dad, including implants, veneers, and crowns over the past 7 years. They look wonderful and he is very very happy with the work she did. He has even had his periodontist and endodontist comment about how great of a job she did. She is very professional and honest and does what is best for the patient. My sister has also seen her and her experience was phenomenal. She saved a tooth on my sister after she was told by her general dentist that it was "non-restorable" and had to be pulled. Dr Dyal is a beautiful person but as a prosthodontist........ Dr Dyal along with my fantastic periodontist Dr Carson fixed my teeth for $52,000.00. This included nine posts. In a nut shell......She delivered the perfect final uppers, one side fell out. An inept assistant tried to glue them on. Got them on half way so after 2 1/2 plus hrs of prying, Dr Dyal ended up drilling them off leaving me in a painful mess. But.....I got 4 movie tickets. She didn't have to do that but they were nice. The new set didn't fit. She admittedly ground them down too much. Due to that they crumbled. Did a temporary set for over 1,000.00! Now wants to replace them for $13.00 shy of $9,000.00 (I was quoted another $1,000) when none of this was my fault. I don't have anymore money to put into my teeth. No more! No more check ups. Nothing! I'm looking for another dentist to remove them. So for all that money I end up with temporaries that will continue to cause horrible anxiety and fall apart. Chipping away weekly. I am disappointed and concerned for other patients who are being seen by Dr Dyal. The puzzling and unprofessional manor of my dental treatments have been the cause of much damage to my mouth , bone, gum and body. Dr Herlin Dyal has been my Prosthodontic Dentist for the last few years. I recently discovered some horrific findings involving the poor treatment. I discovered Led was the metal installed by Dr Dyal. It was not the Gold I had paid for? I have paid somewhere between $15,00 to 20,000 in cash and often in advance to Dr Dyal. I have been under her care around three years. I am highly allergic to metals on my upper body. Especially gold. I have always made sure she was aware of my allergy to metal. I asked her if there was any metal margins from my porcelain caps that might touch my gums. She clearly answered "No". I looked in my mouth along with the hygienist to later confirm her answer. She had lied directly to me face to face? When I examined my molars closely they, in fact did have metal that was in contact with my gums. I went back to her and asked if that was in fact gold and could we get it out of my mouth. I have been complaining about the pain for the last years and have mentioned it many times. I mentioned my allergy to metal , especially gold.In an effort to solve my problem of ongoing pain, never ending soreness, I continually brought it up to her. For the last three years I had complained about this gum area and I even had to have surgery to scrape my jaw of infection and had human cadaver in my jaw to promote bone growth from the loss do to infection. I feel I paid a great deal of money to Dr Dyal who is supposedly a specialist or expert in her field., and that I should not have to solve my own dental issues nor be lied to in an effort to not be accountable for her own dentist work. It caused me bone loss while making her a lot more money. This was the third time I paid for caps? The truly criminal act on her part was that the metal that was suppose to be gold (that is what my records and bill reflects that I paid for )is In fact NOT GOLD. IT IS IN FACT LED. MOST OF THE METAL CONTENT IS LED IN MY CAP. I HAVE HAD PAINFUL SURGERIES OVER THIS LED. I HAVE HAD BONE LOSS DUE TO THE IRRITATION AND INFECTION IN MY JAW . LED HAS BEEN TOUCHING MY OPEN BLEEDING GUM LINE FOR OVER THREE YEARS. IS IT LED POISONING THAT CONCERNS AMERICANS? ISN'T IT LED PAINT WE NO LONGER ALLOW ON THE WALLS OF OUR HOMES. WOW, I PAID $1,000'S OF DOLLARS TO HAVE A DENTIST INSTALL LED INTO MY OPEN BLEEDING INFECTED AND SORE GUM LINE. . . The metal portion of my porcelain cap contains a few other non precious metals that the $20,000 metal detection machine at the coin shop read. I guess that's why Dr Dyal does not scrap her dental gold, LED, (metal). That is why I am told the many other caps that she specifically put on me have been sucked up into the garbage. With the price of Gold I cannot imagine a Dentist would be so unconcerned about obtaining her GOLD SCRAP cash. At least turn it in to the person who makes your caps for a discount? Who throughs away gold in the garbage? Led, Maybe? Luckily I happen to see my old freshly broken off dental cap on the ground below my chair. I asked the assistant if I may have it. I paid for it, right. MAYBE I might be entitled to some sort of refund. You think? Nothing has been offered? Something is wrong with our Dental care and the damage and cost in prices we suffer from. Poor care and High prices. USA continues to decline in medical and dental care yet our prices our unaffordable? It is not in insurance because try to file suit against a dentist. Not very likely. Dr. Dyal and her staff are absolutely wonderful. As a dental-phobe, and someone with (unassociated) oral surgeons and dentists in my family, Im certain they provide nothing but the best care. The woman who has posted the nasty review has most certainly gotten off the crazy train a stop early. For one, Dr. Dyal is a lot of things, but an unprofessional liar is not among them. I normally dont review places, but when I see a clearly bitter and unjustified review of a place I love, Im always on board to step in and set the record straight. You mention that you're upset that she didnt put gold in your mouth, and then say several times how horridly allergic to gold you are (and how she and her staff were aware of it)... Did it ever occur to you that perhaps theres a reason WHY they didnt put gold in your mouth (IE BECAUSE YOU'RE SOOO ALLERGIC?!). Dyal has done a LOT of work on mouth over the last few years, and I can say with absolute certainty that I have NEVER been confused about what was going on, nor have I ever found the price unjustified. Yes, extensive dental work is pricey - It doesnt matter where you go. When you're seeing a specialist that has gone to school for a decade to do specialized work, you bet you're going to pay more than a few hundred dollars. As far as the previous materials going in the garbage... Are you special? Really. Thats called the law, honey. Its been in your mouth, its unsanitary. Places like OSHA would have a FIT if they found out fillings were being SAVED to be scrapped. Who knows what kinds of horrid diseases any given patient has - saving them to scrap them puts everyone in the office at risk. To me, it sounds like you're just a crazy, money hungry person that wanted their treatment for free. If shes been your dentist for years and theres been such a big issue all this time, WHY DID YOU KEEP GOING BACK. Why is it all of a sudden an issue NOW that treatment is done?! That being said, Dr. Dyal is one of (if not THE) most knowledgeable prosthodontists in the area. I trust her with my mouth, and that means a LOT. I am absolutely appalled at the poor review, because I know its untrue. The staff is wonderful - everyone you interact with from the front door all the way back to getting your mouth worked on, is absolutely fantastic and comforting (again, thats a LOT coming from a dental phobe). I cant imagine any reasonable person having an issue here, or thinking its not well worth the money. Apparently, though, Dr Dyal doesnt discriminate, because she takes care of the bat sh*t crazy folks too. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Herlin Dyal for over two years now. My primary dentist recommended me to her after my primary dentist found my necessary dental work to complicated. When I first met Dr. Dyal I was so impressed with her professionalism, sincerity and willingness to take the time to explain various procdedures and options to me. I elected to have a total mouth re-construction. All of my remaining teeth were pulled, implants put in and crowns and bridges pu on the implants. Throughout the whole process Dr. Dyal was wonderful. I couldn't have asked for or found anyone better. I would like to give her 10 stars if allowed. I would recommend her without hestitation to anyone needing complicated dental work. Trusting a dentist to get your bite right is a huge decision and very few have the knowledge and skill that Dr. Dyal does. I first met with Dr. Dyal to find out what work I needed done to get out of pain. My teeth were prematurely worn for a variety of factors. She and her staff took great care of me through the whole process. I can't overemphasize how difficult it is to get a perfect bite and how important it is to your dental and overall health. At every step Dr. Dyal and staff worked for a perfect bite and a natural smile. The result for me was nearly miraculous. It's been about 2 years since my full mouth restoration. My bite is still perfect. I no longer have pain while eating fruit or smiling into the wind on my bicycle. I started smiling with my teeth showing for the first time in a very long. The care continues to be great. My hygienist does a very thorough cleaning and exam and communicates very well with Dr. Dyal. read more

I came to Dr. Herlin Dyal with missing teeth, silver fillings and a lot of anxiety! I knew I needed to take care of the problems I had with my teeth but was fearful to say the least. The consultation with Dr. Dyal was warm and friendly. She understood my anxiety and took the time to explain all of my issues, why I had them and what could be done about them. I had several questions which were answered with care and in regular language that I could understand. After meeting with Dr. Dyal I felt much more sure of what I had to do and decided to move forward and begin treatment. I ended up having 3 bridges and 2 crowns done. It was NOT uncomfortable. Dr. Dyal and her team were very attentive to my comfort level offering warm blankets, neck pillows and words of encouragement. My treatment visits were pleasant and productive- the team always let me know what was going to happen, how it would feel and checked with me to make sure I was OK. With every thing said and done, I now have a beautiful smile that can be as big as I want- there isn't anything to hide anymore!! I am also happy to report that I am no longer fearful! It is always with a degree of trepidation that one approaches the question of the right choice of a specialist, especially that of a prosthodontist. Quite often, one shops around and hopes for the best. I was very lucky in my choice of Dr. Herlin K. Dyal, DDS as my prosthodontist. Let me explain briefly. My mouth was in a great deal of mess when I first consulted with Dr. Dyal. I had removable dentures which were floating all over my gums. Eating had become an unpleasant chore. My gums were swollen and there was extensive bone loss in my jaws. My smile was awkward. After a thorough examination of my mouth, Dr. Dyal ordered a set of X-rays, based upon which I was advised to go in for implants. She liaised with an oral surgeon on the optimum number and placement of the implants. The surgeon told me to let the gums heal about the implants for 6 months after which he placed caps over them. Dr. Dyal then designed appropriate bars to be fixed over the implants. The next step was the design and construction of dentures to fit over the bars. During the whole process, I was amazed by the expertise of Dr. Dyal. Her work in my mouth was very gentle and minimally painful. She took every care to discuss with me the alternatives such as the number of implants, bar designs, materials for the bars and the dentures, and aesthetics. Though the whole process took more than a year, the final output was totally satisfying. I had beautiful teeth and a great smile. To maintain my dentures in good service, I was advised by Dr. Dyal to pay attention to oral hygiene, especially around the bars and to visit her office for routine maintenance of dentures. It is more than 3 years since I got my dentures. They continue to serve me exceedingly well. I can eat all kinds of food and smile broadly too. My wife and I have been going to Dr. Dyal since she was in practice in Fair Oaks. It is really hard to find reliable and honest dentist who isn't trying to charge for unnecessary procedures. You can really trust her recommendations when it comes to your teeth. I have seen many dentists before, but she is a dentist that really cares about patients and always suggests the best possible solution with the least amount of pain. Dr. Dyal managed to get rid of my fear of dentists all together! I really liked that she takes her time explaining everything in detail, with the help of technologically advanced tools such as high definition videos and photos displayed on a monitor for me to follow along. The follow up treatments were great and painless. The Fair Oaks office is very clean and organized and when it comes to appointments there aren't all these people waiting to be called in. As an adult I always wanted to complete my dental work that was started as a child. The orthodontia I had as child had never been completed as my family had moved. In addition, in 1984, in Southern California, I had been the first patient of a dentist who gave me porcelain veneers to correct the staining I had from the Tetracycline anitbiotics as achild. Several dentists had encouraged me to correct my bite before replacing my veneers. I was fortunate to have a great orthodontist who referred me to Dr. Dyal before my braces where due to be removed. I must admit that I am a big baby when it comes to any dental work, but now I know there was no need to fear! Dr. Dyal is the best! She willingly worked very closey with my orthodontist as my old thicker veneers were removed and temporary ones placed. Then temporary veneers she used looked like beautiful teeth all by themselves. Once my bite was fully corrected and the braces were permanently removed, Dr. Dyal went to work. I must say that she is very skilled at what she does. Even her lab personnel work closely to her specifications. Dr. Dyal has an excellant eye for what looks good and of course her dental skills are superior. My very old veneers were a challenge to remove, yet Dr.Dyal knew exactly how to proceed. In addition, she does allow the use of Ativan per dental standards so I was really able to relax. My new veneers are so beautiful and look like natural teeth, not like fake ones. Dr. Dyal is now my primary dental provider and will continue to be so I can maintain my smile. I am so thankful every day to have been blessed with the best of the best. I would encourage everyone to schedule an appointment with her.
