If they don't answer your call right away, their return call to help you is always in a reasonably short amount of time. I see two therapists from Orlando Counseling Services (Amy Valentino for individual therapy and Makenzie Moffett for family therapy) and I am impressed with both of them. Amy is by far the best individual therapist I have ever had and I have been in therapy on and off for almost 40 years. Amy respects my dignity and self-actualization as a client; is not so arrogant to think she knows better than me as to what I should do with my own life; acts as a guide to make observations about things I can think about to make better decisions about myself; and is incredibly accommodating and generous with her time and energy to show care and concern for me and my mental and emotional well-being. As for Makenzie, she is very skillful at making sure my mother and I are both heard during our family therapy sessions and that neither one of us dominates the sessions and that we both get what we need individually and together from our sessions. She also works hard to provide additional resources to help both my mother and I based on what comes up in our family sessions. It was very unprofessional, unkind, and unnecessary. She was out of line and saw no issue with her inappropriate statement. To add insult to injury she screened my calls when I made the attempt to call back (I ended the call after she insulted me). She purposely decline my call 4 times. Things have improved at home and also at school. The suggestions she has given have worked wonders with him. The biggest thing we have learned is every family is different and you need to find what works for you. The great thing is she involves the family so that we all benefit from her services. It is a small office with 3 rooms that have a couch and some chairs in each room and a waiting room. The counselors come in as needed for appointments so you will need to contact them since they don't do walk ins.

After two weeks, I started calling to see if we had reached a point where we could set a date for our first appointment. I was told that first, they were evaluating coverage (2 weeks), then I was approved and being assigned a therapist (4 weeks), next a therapist was evaluating my request but was very busy (6 weeks), finally that a therapist will call by the end of the week...never heard from them. I'm just glad that my situation didn't necessarily require immediate attention.

If you're having stubborn/chronic pain, just do yourself a favor and go see her…read more I could write an essay about all the back problems I've had over the year, especially the past year, but I'll keep it short. Cathy gets to the root of the issue because she's able to look at the body as a whole. I've had about 15 different professionals (orthos, chiros, PTs, massage therapists) do work on me the past year, trying to figure out what's "wrong" with me. None of these other professionals were able to fully figure it out, and I was only getting bits and pieces of understanding and temporary relief. Cathy assessed me and determined most of my problem was coming from my HIPS, which nobody else really looked at. So I was able to finally get answers and PEACE OF MIND, which is paramount when you're dealing with chronic pain. Her adjustment style is very interesting and unique, and more importantly GETS RESULTS. When you've had improper movement patterns for 10-20+ years, a deep tissue massage isn't going to cut it. I felt immediate pain relief and increased mobility after each session. And the homework was extensive and detailed, so I can continue my journey at home. And on top of the effective therapy, you can tell she cares. Cares about you as a patient, but also her craft. She's a mad scientist (in a good way), and takes what she does very seriously.
