What an incredible experience! I found Herman after going to a Noor Pasadena Wedding event. I really enjoyed his energy and the photos he had displayed. We set up a zoom meeting and hired his team for 10 hours, 2 photographers, 2 videographers, and their photobooth and flower wall backdrop for the day of. The day of, to my surprise Herman himself was one of the photographers!! 1 videographer and 1 photographer went to where me and my bridesmaids were getting ready, and the other two went to my husband's family home where he was with his groomsmen. They took great coverage at the home, BellaTerra/Barnes&Noble, and our venue. They had great ideas and came with their own vision and were good at organizing/positioning us for the shots, while also being amenable to whatever things we wanted to do. Herman answers questions promptly and had a great form to fill out before the weekend to help give an idea of our expectations and plan for the night. After the wedding, they sent me about 40 sneak-peek photos, and then it will be about 8 weeks for photo editing to be complete and 12 for our 5-7 minute highlight reel. I feel like they were an awesome team together, they truly listened to our wants and had a great attitude. Herman photographed our wedding at the Castle Green and we are so glad we went with his team! Communication was very easy via the portal and everything is very clear. The packages presented included items we wanted and made things very streamlined. Herman worked with us during our engagement shoot (original planned location closed last minute), and recommended a beautiful and secluded area in Chino Hills. We also had our toddler with us so he was able to get some really wonderful photos (those of us who have children know how DIFFICULT it can be). I am also not good with cameras, but he really put us at ease and made us feel very relaxed. For our actual wedding day, his photo and video team is just as fantastic. It was a chaotic day but they directed us where to go and knew all the angles to photograph us at, while still able to put us at ease. Herman and his team are the absolute best! First and most important, I love the lighting Herman has on his photos. They're bright, and the finished touch is so pleasing. Some photographers like to use the "Hollywood" style, which is a bit darker, and I know some people who prefer that style. But what my husband and I wanted was exactly Herman's style: bright, crisp, clear photos. For our engagement photo shoot, he brought us to a little unknown park he was familiar with. We were the only people at this park, so we didn't have to worry about people walking around and disturbing the photo shoot. Herman had suggestions for poses, and he really helped me and my husband feel comfortable as the day went on. This review is long overdue by a few weeks :p My husband and I booked Herman back in June for our October 2024 wedding. We chose the "Splurge a little" package, which included a mini-engagement shoot and 10 hours of 2 photographers and 2 videographers on the day of the wedding. Before I dive into the review, we just want to thank Herman, Rich, Vincent, and Kirby for their time and dedication on our wedding day. We appreciate everything they did that day to capture our special day for us. Let's start with the mini engagement shoot, we were supposed to get just 1 hour with an associate photographer but I asked Herman if he could do it so we know how he works come wedding day. Not only did he say yes, but we shot at Crystal Cove for over 3 hours and during sunset too! The photos were phenomenal and we absolutely loved them. We loved how the editing wasn't overly saturated or blown out; basically we love how everything looked very natural and the composition of every photo was perfect. Herman is super easy to work with and his years of experience with photography allowed him to tell us which poses we should do and make us feel extremely comfortable. On the day of the wedding, we got ready at our house. Herman and his team arrived promptly as discussed and took getting ready and bridal party photos for us. We then migrated and all drove to the venue to take some photos as I put on my wedding dress. They scouted outside for the best photos for the first look. Honestly I felt like I trusted everything they said to do since I knew they've done this so many times before. I'm actually super excited to see how the ceremony video turns out the most. Wedding day breezed by so fast and half the time I didn't realize photos were being taken. Herman and his team coordinated with our day of coordinator on timing and everything and we didn't have to worry about a thing. Things could not have gone smoother. At one point in the middle of the night, Herman and his team requested everyone to go outside suddenly and we took a huge group photo at night. I wasn't really sure what time it was throughout the day but soon Herman stopped by and told me they were leaving. I realized the night was slowly coming to an end. Before he left, Herman said "sneak peek" will be available soon! On the following Tuesday he sent me an email with a link to the sneak peek photos. I was in shock at how everything came out! Honest opinion of my experience working with Herman and his team: It was the best decision ever; they are so easy and comfortable to work with. Herman was a recommendation from the venue where we got to see his book with his work for our selected wedding venue. We wanted to work with a photographer that we liked who was familiar with the venue as it's a fairly unique location. Our photography package also included a 2-hour engagement photo session at the location of our choice with Herman and one of his assistants. Herman is a professional, patient, and most of all, ethical business person. He was always quick to respond to our questions during the wedding planning process. He listened to what we looked for and delivered the unbeatable prices. My wedding was scheduled for March 28, 2020. 2-3 weeks before the wedding, Covid19/coronavirus forced our wedding to cancel. The Governor banned events like our wedding, the President declared a national emergency and the world was facing a global pandemic. Despite these events, many vendors were unsympathetic to us and would not refund our deposit. We had to beg and plead for their reason and understanding, yet they were greedy and unethical. I am so glad that I was recommended Herman and his team as my wedding photographer. From the first time I reached out, Herman was very prompt in responding to my emails. We booked Herman Au Photography after seeing the wonderful photos my sister had taken with him for her wedding. Herman was awesome at taking our engagement photos. My hubby and I are not camera photo taking kinda couple so it took a bit to warm up to the camera. The engagement photos looked great. We used them to print on our wedding day canvas. For the wedding day we had two of his assistants help us throughout the day, Aishia and Vince. They were really good taking out photos. I found Herman through our venue's preferred vendors. When I saw his work, I immediately knew he was the one and emailed him to set up an appointment. He was prompt in his responses and patient with my husband and me, despite our busy schedules. Photography and cinematography were expenses we knew we wanted to splurge on, and Herman's rates were well worth it. He was friendly, professional, and didn't pressure us when we met with him. We did our engagement session with Herman too. Again, Herman was so patient with us when we were scouting locations. When we found the perfect one, he was willing to drive out to a pretty far location. Herman made us feel comfortable and we felt like naturals at the end of the shoot despite this being our first time being photographed professionally. He was so easy to work with. We were so happy with how the engagement photos turned out. We truly saw the talent and vision in Herman's work. On the day of the wedding, Herman and his team (we had 2 photographers and 2 videographers) were so awesome. It was our first time working with videographers but they also mirrored Herman's professionalism and patience. Herman always came up with new ideas for the photos and knew what he wanted to shoot/film (we even did a mannequin challenge with the wedding party). My husband and I got married in December 2022. We hired Herman Au's company to do videography just for our wedding ceremony. One of Herman's assistants came on our wedding day and both of us forgot his name, but he was very professional. He worked well with our photographer even though they didn't know each other. At first, I was a little nervous because I didn't get to wear a mic and felt worried that my voice wouldn't be loud enough for the video (I'm naturally soft-spoken, haha). However, my husband wore a mic and it was able to capture both of our voices as well as the officiant. We love our wedding video because it is well made and worth the price that we paid.
