The empanadas were deliciously crispy without being greasy, stuffed and sealed perfectly. Then opted to try their Mashed Potatoes Fries and requested a side of their advertised Shishito slaw seen topping another menu item. I loved the way they created and presented both. The fries were a perfect balance of soft but crisped with the creme drizzle and pickled onions. :* The Shishito slaw was a summery, crunch lightly dressed which has me wanting and requesting more the next visit. They should definitely add that as one of their regular listed sides. My husband had a burger with regular slaw and an old fashioned styled cocktail which he mentioned to be exceptional as well. Had an amazing experience today (2/25/26) for a private event! From the moment we walked in, they welcomed us with open arms and incredible hospitality. Women-owned and operated, and you can truly feel the heart behind everything they do. We started with the roasted beet salad -- light, fresh, and the perfect opening for what was to come. Then the feast began....elote, cajun lime BBQ wings, mussels, tuna tostadas, chicken taquito, carne asada taco, and pernil with rice & beans... and WOW. Every single dish had its own unique flavor that kept me wanting more. * The elote was seasoned perfectly * Wings were crispy and literally finger-lickin' good * Mussels came in a rich, delicious Cajun cream sauce * Tuna tostada had a delicious soy-sesame glaze * Chicken taquito = crisp perfection * Carne asada taco cooked perfectly * Pernil with rice and beans was a perfect marriage of flavors To finish it all off was churro bites which was the sweetest ending. Great little place for Mexican in Lindy. Has parking in front and on the side, and the inside is cute and nicely decorated, but also a bit narrow and dark. Service was not the quickest, but friendly. The chips and salsa and guac was delicious, and I matched two tacos - pernil and fish. I have been going here for years and can't believe it took me this long to write a review. This won't be based on a single meal but a collection of our visits. This has become one of our favorite dinner stops. The service is always friendly and attentive. It's kind of small so a reservation helps on a busy weekend night. They frequently rotate in exciting seasonal cocktails, while maintaining the staples. The Hermana's Picantes is a favorite of mine! Try it if you like a spicy drink. This restaurant has my favorite Cuban sandwich in the area. I've tried many others and I keep coming back to this one. My wife tries something different all the time and always loves it all. Came here on a Thursday for an impromptu date night and had no issue getting a table for two. A lot of the other places on wellwood usually have all kinds of events going on Thursdays, but we wanted something a bit more lowkey and Hermanas delivered the vibe we wanted. Quaint place, very homey and mellow feeling and music kept at the perfect volume. Staff was also super friendly and attentive, made the whole experience feel relaxed. Starting with drinks we got a classic margarita and the fancy fashioned. Margarita was on the strong side, but that is no complaint coming from me! The fancy fashioned was a very refreshing and interesting take on a classic old fashioned, dare I say even a favorite?! I just might dare and I've had quite a selection of old fashioneds in my travels. For food we decided just to split a few apps. We got the rice balls, the pupusas and an order of chips and guac. Guac was fresh and chips perfectly crunchy, plus they even refilled our chips when we got low free of charge, which was a nice and unexpected gesture. The pupusas were delicious and the sauce that it comes with is worth putting on everything (and I may or may not have done so). The real favorite though were the rice balls, who would have thought and Italian-Mexican fusion could blend together to perfectly! But it absolutely hit. My only gripe is that it is a bit pricey for the amount you get, but they at least make up for that with the great quality. Being right on wellwood, parking can be a little tough but you can try and park along the street right in front. But I would recommend turning down one of the side streets and using the municipal lots nearby to prevent any headache. read more

Probably the nicest date night we've had in such a long time. We've heard such great things about this restaurant and so glad we finally decided to check it out. Most welcoming staff, cutest setup and extremely delicious food. It's small and cozy so I do recommend a reservation but they kept us updated when seating would open and got us started with drinks and apps then found a spot for us at the bar. My mojito was perfectly made and I even ordered a second one which I never do. Their menu is super eclectic and had so many choices. We started off chips and salsa and elote. Best elote ever. Me and my girlfriends went to Hermanas for a girls night dinner Saturday and had the best time! I highly suggest making a reservation as the location is small and intimate, but tables are nicely spaced out (I never felt cramped or claustrophobic, the layout was very comfortable). We arrived a bit early and were offered menus to order cocktails while we waited for our table to be ready. It was so sweet, we didn't even need to go up to the bar to order, one of the waitresses took our orders and brought our drinks to where we were standing (my personal suggestion: the purple drink - it smells like a yoga studio, the lavender is so relaxing and tasty) Our waitress was awesome - she was super attentive, friendly, warm, funny and on top of refilling our chips, drinks, and keeping our table of tapas clean and organized. The two hours we were there flew by. You have to get chips and salsa to start, the wings were also delicious, and I recommend getting both types of empanadas. The tacos (avocado and chicken) were great too. I would recommend more but we were honestly too stuffed to try anything else. I'm already looking forward to going back, even just for cocktails, the bar was so cute - would love to sit there after a long day/week and enjoy the nice staff/menu while winding down and kicking off the weekend. read more

As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you're immediately welcomed by a beyond friendly staff, and a decor of welcoming high-class. Not to mention the smell of delicious food. The food is amazing and fresh! Me and my coworkers went for the happy hour. We were offered a choice between a high top and or a low top. The bar was never offered. Before being seated the bar wasn't offered and clearly stated to us that the happy hour is only good at the bar, or even asked hey are you guys here for the happy hour. If we had known that we would have specified of wanting to be seated at the bar for the happy hour special. The staff extremely friendly and such. We spoke with one of the owners for a while. But it would have been nice to have the special since it's on their IG to have been honored. When we got the bill I asked about it but then we were told it was because we weren't at the bar. Hermanas hails one of THE BEST cochinita tacos I have EVER had, and I will drive from anywhere when the craving strikes for that darn taco. The other tacos and apps are absolutely incredible as well, and they never miss. The space is quaint, and having a bite with a friend there is fun. It's a spot that I like to go with my teenage girl. The drinks are creative, and the mocktails are refreshing. What throws me off about Hermanas is their staff's demeanor; while it seems heavily-branded, I can't figure out if it's aiming for edgy and authentic or they are just flat-out rude. I am the sort to awkwardly worship waitstaff and anyone in the service industry, so I know their standoffishness can't possibly have to do with me being a bad patron. Obsessed with Hermanas. We went on a Wednesday night during December. I should have made a reservation but they found a spot for us in about 15 min. I loved all the Christmas decor they had around the place, made it even more cozy. They also have a dachshund theme which was so cute; it was fun looking for them everywhere (peep bathroom #1). I had two Nutty or Nice drinks (I love amaretto) and my husband has a Rum Pum Pum Punch and a Hot Toddy which he enjoyed. The food was amaze. The food was amazing. We got the elote (Mexican street corn), truffle mushroom empanadas, and Maduras. The elote and truffle empanadas are a must have!!! Had an excellent meal here! Came on a taco Tuesday, had no idea that there were taco and margarita specials and we were pleasantly surprised. We had a coconut and passion fruit margarita each. Both were great, Passion fruit was really good and sweet and the coconut was more tart but gave a nice taste of the coconut on the back end. Everything on the menu looked fabulous, so we started with a variety of appetizers. We had the plantain chips with bean dip- it was really good, the texture was a lot like hummus. It came with an ample portion size and a nice lady came and refilled our plantain chips when we ran out. We also got the truffle mushroom empanada. AMAZING! the pernil rice ball was insanely delicious. Think rice ball with the most delicious melty cheese, pernil, and Spanish style rice and peas. Sooo good. The lime and cotija cheese wings sounded so unique and weird to us, we had to try them. Outstanding! The sweetness and the tartness of the cheese were an amazing complement to one another. We also got the tostones which were thicker than average, tasted fantastic, but the real winner was the dipping sauce that came with it. It was vinegary, spicy, garclicy all in one. DELICIOUS. This is one of, if not, our favorite restaurant on Long Island! My wife and I have been coming here since the restaurant opened back in 2020 and at this point, I think we've tried everything on their menu, and we've never been disappointed. On this latest trip, we started with cocktails - a watermelon margarita for my wife and a mezcal negroni for myself. We were sitting at a high-top and the bartender came from behind the bar to ask how our drinks were, which was thoughtful and she explained how they squeeze all the fresh juices for the cocktails in-house. This really makes a difference! For our meal, we started with elote and one of the daily specials, Colombian empanadas. Both were delicious and we devoured them in minutes. I first went to Hermanas two weeks ago, after a particularly terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. I had seen online that they had a Taco Tuesday deal, so I decided to go and pick up pork, chicken, and shrimp tacos for dinner. These were incredibly delish and definitely made that day at least a little bit better. Fast forward since then, a part of me wondered whether my mind had just hyped up the food to compensate for the misery. Today, those doubts were put to rest because I went in again for Taco Tuesday and was absolutely blown away! I started off with the truffle mushroom and manchego empanadas, which were umami flavor bombs of goodness. I then had shrimp and chicken tacos, which were both great, but the shrimp one was the real winner with such a nice balance of heat from the chili-lime marinade and freshness from the coleslaw. I ended the meal with the Mexican spiced chocolate cookies, which had a thin layer of dulce de leche filling inside. These were fudgy, a little salty, and just the right amount of sweet. The veggie pupusa was so delicious with different textures as you ate from creamy beans to crispy tortilla shells on the bottom. The stuffed poblano was amazing and a bit of heat at the end. The chicken and pork tacos were good. The pow pow bowl was amazing and much too much. I added chicken avocado and too much other things added and it was so delicious. I cannot go there and NOT order the Seared Tuna appetizer. Their house pickled veggies are the perfect accompaniment. For tacos; I am not even ashamed to say that my favorite is the Crunchy Beef Taco. Sounds basic but every part of it is perfection. Do not forget to order ALL of their house made sauces. I am partial to the Salsa Verde & Avocado Crema. I am not much of a drinker EXCEPT for when I visit Hermanas. Their Spanish Gin & Tonic is my absolute favorite. The presentation is off the charts & it is always VERY EFFECTIVE. Check out the rest of their creative & instagram-able cocktail menu. The women that own & work at Hermanas are AMAZING. I've eaten at Hermanas twice. Once for take-out, and another time I dined in with my wife. The food was excellent both times. I love the décor and the atmosphere of the restaurant. As soon as you walk in and see the white chairs (each one of them are different) and wooden tables, you can tell that the owners were meticulous in choosing a look and feel for the restaurant. When we dined in, I ordered the Steak. It was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. It came with a side of rice and beans which was also delicious. And I topped it off with a Tiki Punch drink that was awesome. Sara and Kristen assisted us with our order and they were superb. Not only did they know the menu inside and out, they were very knowledgeable about the ingredients and made some great recommendations.
