We have been eating here for years. I didn't realize I had not left any reviews. Let's first start out that they have the best margaritas! We usually get the shrimp appetizer in hot sauce for our appetizer ( it's absolutely delicious, dip the bread in the sauce after you eat all the shrimp ) but we decided to get dessert instead of an appetizer. The sign of a good restaurant is a crowded parking lot. Luckily I was getting a takeout order so I didn't have to hunt for a parking spot. I'd probably rate this a 3.5, but rounding down to 3. The inside is spacious and seems to be a popular meetup spot for lunch. The menu is huge and a little overwhelming (sandwiches, burgers, Mexican, Italian, wings, fish/shrimp, and bbq). I'm generally a fan of smaller menus that specialize in certain food (like say, bbq). The portion sizes are generous, which is definitely appreciated. The complimentary bread was delicious: buttery and garlicky! For my entree, I tried the brisket sandwich, which had tomato, lettuce, and cheese. It was a very hearty sandwich. The brisket was not melt-in-your-mouth tender like other briskets I've had at bbq joints, but it wasn't bad. The homemade potato chips on the side were a nice touch. My third visit. First time, my friend and I stumbled in here by accident while looking for a Chinese restaurant. It gets better every time we come back. Place is homey, super comfortable with a really impressive bar. It's like a neighborhood bar with a great restaurant in it. Sports themed decor is really a nice touch. However, these are definitely Spartan fans. Service is always friendly and cheerful. (And incredibly fast.) Tammy was a charm (as were servers on the other two visits Pimp and I both had the BBQ Rib and Chicken combo. Sorry. The meat was so tender it floated into our mouths before we could get pictures. Had gone for years 30 or more and it came to an end when my chicken sandwich was the size of a baby's hand and the barbecue sauce. They claimed the chicken being called chipotle chicken turns out it's just open pit barbecue sauce stop your your high prices. Ridiculous. read more

Another great visit at Heroes. The pulled pork sandwich is one of my favorites. Plus, the housemade chips are pretty amazing. This was the first time trying the chicken tortilla soup and it was good as well - it had chunks of veggies and chicken - and of course, some nice spice. We brought some people with us that had never been to Heroes, and they really enjoyed it! Service was great and drink refills kept coming. Our group of five headed to Heroes on a recent Sunday night for a casual family dinner... She made a reservation to be safe and our table was ready and waiting when we arrived. My mom described this places as a Sports Bar with great whitefish on a plank and something for everyone... which ended up being pretty accurate! I noted quite a list of local beers. I thought about a Cheboygan orange citrus brew but ended up joining my mom with a glass of wine to start. My brother / aunt / uncle had Makers Mark on the rocks with various requests. Entrees came with choice of coleslaw or salad -- and everyone seemed pretty pleased with their choices. The table had a bit of everything from whitefish to salmon, a French Dip and more. We also had a variety of sides from honey glazed carrots and broccoli to sweet potato fries and chips. First of all let me say that my significant other and I go to Hero's about once a month. Generally we enjoy ourselves: the staff is friendly and the food is solid. We went last Saturday and he ordered the Cajun salmon and I ordered Alfredo with chicken. Our salads arrived in a timely fashion and we enjoyed them as usual. Our meal came shortly thereafter. The Alfredo was very cheesy and deeply fulfilling. Since I also enjoy salmon, I was anxious to try the salmon ordered by my partner. It was grilled well but the flavor of Cajun was pretty much missing. Since the description said it was dusted with Cajun seasoning, I expected a bit of a kick but there was none. Hannah (our server who did a good job) explained that they didn't want to upset any patrons with strong Cajun flavoring. If that is the case, why even include it in the description. We were disappointed. As usual, I get a dessert as a special treat when we go out. Carrot cake is a favorite of mine; however last night I was sorely disappointed. The cake itself looked like 2 slabs of meatloaf frosted and layered. The flavor was very disappointing. We won't write Hero's off our Saturday date night list, but this was indeed a "miss". read more

We were seated quickly and within 5 minutes we had our drinks our order taken and warm bread and butter at our table. The staff is friendly and efficient. My husband got a Barbecue platter and he said it just melts in your mouth. He had high praise for the entire meal. I had the lasagna and while the flavor was good it was absolutely missing any ricotta cheese which is my favorite part of lasagna. I picked apart the layers and there was no ricotta to be found. To make up for it there was way too much mozzarella which made it very stringy and hard to eat. A stringy cheese was in each layer. It was difficult to eat because of this. I enjoy the food here but I would never get the lasagna again. We got a slice of carrot cake which was good and was large enough for us to split. read more

Tried Heroes BBQ and Brew for the first time after my dad & I waited in the parking lot for about fifteen minutes until they opened at 12. We walked in & were greeted by our friendly waitress, who gave me some vegetable soup & my dad some coleslaw. We ordered & were given warm bread. Wow what can I say. This place was our go to spot to get good food. The portions were very generous, but the last 2 times here it's been very disappointing. I ordered the bbq platter and was shocked just how little food you got. It was supposed to be all smoked meats, but clearly no pink smoke ring anywhere on the food. The sausage was so over cooked it was like eating jerky. You got one tiny slice of brisket and one tablespoon size of pulled pork. It was really quite pathetic. I have to give it three stars and I give all things into account given it was super busy when I ordered and everything. They were super short over the phone which lead me to believe they didn't do many pick up orders but when I got there I was shocked that this was not the case as there was quite a few pick up orders and they were just busy. The place was a nice bar setting with lots of tvs and people places to sit and everyone seemed friendly. The boss I presume asked me if I had been helped I assured him I was waiting so the wait time was not bad and they were noticing me. It was the food. They did not cook the bbq shrimp it was just unfrozen and that was unnerving to me. I was not expecting that I guess. It was not barbecued. My boyfriend liked his ribs though. I was at the dentist's office the other day, and happened to drive by this place going to my appointment. It looked interesting, and after reading some reviews, I figured I'd check this place out when I had time. I stumbled in today for a quick bite and it was just okay. It definitely has an old school feel to it with dark lighting and the setup. I seated myself and scoured the menu for what to eat. I wanted barbeque since the weathers randomly nice today, but didn't care for the selection. I flipped the menu over and found several other dishes available to eat. I figured why not, get a burger! (When in doubt, get a burger. lol) It was the Heros "house" burger since the other ones didn't really appeal to me. I also went with sweet potato fries and a drink to go with it, which I love. When the food came out, the burger was huge! I was impressed. It definitely had a barbeque taste to it which I liked, but due to its size, I could not finish the whole thing. The sweet potato fries were really good and tasted delicious. Overall, I liked the food, but I wasn't in love with it. It's not a bad place here, just wasn't in love with it or dying to go back Seems like a good place to meet a friend for drinks and conversation for sure. I won a $20 Gift Card to Hero's & we decided to go for lunch instead of dinner. Our waitress was excellent and accommodating with my toddler, she offered crayons and a coloring book to keep him busy. (which I usually have, but didn't this day!) We started with the spinach and artichoke dip which came out spicy and hot. Served with mini pita crisps. My son loved dipping them! I ordered a lunch special salad, my toddler had chicken fingers and fries, and our friend ordered a Black & Bleu Burger with seasoned fries. Everything came out hot and cooked perfectly. My toddler stayed busy coloring and eating his lunch. My crispy chicken salad was perfect and was the perfect lunch special. The service and prices you can't beat; they had a great lunch crowd. This place has been around forever. Family owned and an old school feel to the place - decor, style of food and drinks, etc. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Best place to come around the holidays as it is decorated very festive and have Christmas music playing. The food is very good and tastes homemade. They have a large menu with a little bit of everything with daily specials as well. The prices are a little high but you get quite a bit of food - soup or salad, entree, and side. The bread is to die for and melts in your mouth. One of my favorite dishes is the Tuscan chicken. Ribs are popular here and very tender. They are also known for their fish which is what webwere debating on getting the other night and ended up going with something else. We will have to try the fish next time we are in. We also had the stuffed pepper soup and it was super tasty. We have enjoyed this restaurant for many years and will continue to do so. read more
